Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...

Victoria Harbour, ON

wow, moved us over then posted on wrong thread...yikes I'm tired!

Welcome to sunshine country..omg what a gorgeous day out there..it's only 3:30 and guess who needs an afternoon nap? Yes, I could do with a few hours of shut-eye...

Tomorrow they are calling for in the 50's..can you believe it? Better not be jumping up and down, winter IS NOT over yet..Mother Nature just teasing us of what's to come..

Debbie, am sure you deserve to put your feet us and enjoy a day of movie watching..Paul can't argue with that, he might even go for watching girl flicks as his thank you...most men don't listen to the Dr. - an hour out of his office and they want to be doing their thing, but eyesight, can't fool around with that..you must have been frantic waiting for the Dr. to come out and say all was ok?

Stacey, I'm just soo thrilled, am sure DH will get over the $$$ issue as soon as he sees the little one, yes they cost money but what a heaven sent gift they are (did I say that?)...sure I did...just think you'll have Janice nearby as well...she's as close to you as any mother can be...how close will she be living?

Mary, bet you are enjoying your gardens today?

Judy those lemons made my lips pucker up...I'm sure the family will devour the pie, you just left it in the oven a tad too long, you'd almost think you were taking lessons from me..lol

Judy, what a trip you'll have, didn't realize it was coming so quickly...make sure you've plenty of batteries for your camera, we need photo's!

LindaKay, both excellent places to donate your works of art..

Audrey, is it the flu you have or just feeling down? Hope as the day progresses you are feeling better...

Waving 'Tubby'

It's been quite a day, yesterday mom was to meet me at work and drop off all her left over wool so I could make more afghans (keep thinking of people who are on my Christmas list) Jim SF worked later than usual so she couldn't...

Got home last night after shopping at Fabricland/groceries and Cathy was here letting Sailor out, shared my chinese food and called mom off/on as I was going to take a run to Washago for a few hours of visit..hadn't seen all the work they had done at the cottage..it was later in the evening when I spoke with Jim (SF) who said he had dropped mom off at Rama Casino and would pick her up later..10:30 mom called..said they are up at 7:30a.m. so said I'd be there with Tim Horton's coffee at 7:30a.m. - she laughed but after 1 hr's drive I arrived at 7:36a.m. coffee in hand..she and Jim were sitting trying to figure out where to start..had over 20 windows installed and all the trim has to be done, big job! got a kick out of mom, here she told me she wanted to get rid of a large garbage bag full of left over wool, so I say I'll take it, she tells me this morning she had Jim stop at Michaels' last night and buy more just so I would have something to do...shaking my head, I've plenty to do...had a lovely visit, got spoilt as usual..aren't I a brat...

Took a photo of part of the cottage..it's 73' long - open concept..anyway, it's a mess with all the renovations but you'll see how pretty it looks showing some of the windows on the front side...

this is from the long view..again, shut your eyes to the mess, she'd have a heart attack if she knew I was showing you while the place is unkept because of construction

Just got home and Aunt Muriel dropped in, wanted me to go to Church luncheon, was just about to say yes when a few friends arrived and said they were picking me up for shopping..in their shopping excursion they said they were dropping in to Cookstown Country Concession Fabric store, how can you resist, so off I went with them..lovely day for an hour drive, ooohhh second hour drive this morning...

Just arrived home and I'm going to put me feet up, will bring the wool winder upstairs with me and do the wool, I've just uncrated my morning treat to myself..included in my purchase are 2 more dye's, they'll be in on Tuesday and they'll either ship them to me or I can pick them up..

I couldn't resist..

Susan, what's up with you, busy as always, anything special you are doing this glorious day!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, love those windows! And you know that little doll is precious! Your mom is just so talented with her dolls. I really have to get a picture of my two I did for you.

I am fighting a headache.....ended up with a short nap.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, try Excedrin Migraine, about the only thing that works for me and doesn't make you off kilter...

I'd love to see your dolls, think that's why mom took such a shine to you, both have a love for porcelaine dolls...I just hope my ohhh and ahhh'ing doesn't make her pack up her 40 or so dolls and ship them my way..lol

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Judy - I'm SO excited for you! I've always said that Greece would be my #1 "other" Country to visit! Love to see the old ruins & stuff! (I've already been to Canada *wink*).....

Debbie - I hope you feel better soon...

I managed to get a lot of errands done today and only walked through the backyard a few times. I did visit the nursery ...but they didn't have Basil yet...and that's all I was "allowed" to buy... I think I'm not supposed to plant until after March 29th (Full Moon before Good Friday)

Crissy - Good thing DH is doing a Veggie Garden...I just read where tomatoes are scarce these days...wondering if that's what spurred my FIL into buying a TON of tomato plants and making a Makeshift Greenhouse for them...

Hugs,
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mary, you are lucky to get to plant so soon, we're almost the very end of May here before we can think of planting...received quite a few pkgs. of seeds in my swap boxes,I don't do well with starting indoors so just have to wait until then...so your DH takes after his dad re his love of gardening?

It's been quite a day, I've just finished organizing the rest of my projects for sewing in the a.m. so going to have my bath, hot chocolate then bed..

Promised myself until the 3 bags I cut out were done, no playing with my new toy, sad face here, but, things have to be done first...

Best of the day...of course it's got to be getting my Accuquilt

Worse of the day...paid a lot more for it here in Canada than I would have in USA

What did I learn..step father Jim asked me if I'd go out with him shopping for a commercial scroll saw - long neck one like mine..nice that he thinks I'm knowledgeable enough to give him advice...he always jokes, says all his tools will come to me when he's gone!!! Now is that a thing to leave a woman????

Sure hope you've all enjoyed your day..mine was filled with sunshine, hope yours was much the same

Night/night, good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-what is an accuquilt?? totally confused on that one.

I am sure DH will be fine. He is just freaking out a little is all.....I did pick out a crib today-I know totally premature...won't get it for a few more weeks til I am outta the danger zone, but still got it picked out;)

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All !

Good NIght Betty! Hot Chocolate and a Bath sound good ! Sounds like StepDad really values your advice! I'm sure you can help him out....

DH's parents Both were very much into gardening... FIL seems "into" his veggies...while MIL "into" her flowers... Both are having health issues where they can't do what they were used to... although FIL seems gung ho to get a great HUGE tomato garden this year...
As with MY parents... I remember we always had a HUGE veggie garden...and Dad's Hydrangea... and Mom's House plants, roses, etc..... that particular gene remained VERY DORMANT with me until just a few years ago! Glad it showed up ...albeit late...though!

Stacie - Are you going to find out/tell us "What" you are having? and if you are decorating already...have you a theme picked out?

I am 44 years old...which is both "OLD" and "YOUNG" in certain circles...BUT I have never personally witnessed a BABY showing up when it was "Perfect timing"...there will always be bills to pay....and planning to do...but ...hey...they are "here" when "here" and you do what you can do and you make it work...just as you are doing... ((((HUGS)))))

Hugs to all - I'll try to pop back on in a bit....

Mary

Hi all,

Fairy I am certain your lil one is going to be spoiled rotten! :o) LOL!

Betty that cottage is adorable! I sure wish I had that many windows in my home, but then it would just give me a view of my mean neighbors house and unkept yard....guess I better stick with what I have :)

Tubby, big ((hugs)) for you, I hope you sleep well tonight.

I must be coming down with a flu or bug, woke up this am with horrible sore throat and achy all over :( spent most of the day working on my website. Now I'm just going to drink some tea and get some sleep.

Hope you all have a sunny, spring Sunday tomorrow! My wonderful youngest son offered to pull all the weeds in my yard in exchange for a large pizza! I dont think he really understands what he volunteered for....but he'll find out soon enough tomorrow :)

G'nite!

Hiya Tubby - glad you had a good sleep :-)

Betty - on this beautiful day I cleaned/cleared house preporatory to our "showing" it to a realtor on Tuesday, which Bob went to help a friend take some trash to the dump (It was his b-day on Saturday - 60 yo!)
Then we went to a friend's of ours to have a traditional Pakistani lunch - lamb and curry and so many other foods! They got a birthday cake for both of us, from Dairy Queen (my b-day is this Thurs - I'm not as old as Bob LOL)
Then we went to Stage West dinner theatre, compliments of a dear friend of mine (retired physician from where I work) - he gave me the tickets he and his wife were going to use, but she went to the hospital instead :-((
The play was called "Glorious", a true story about Florence Foster Jenkins, the "world's worst singer". The lady who played "her" was wonderful in the part.
We'd never gone to Stage West before.
Bob said it was the best birthday as long as he could remember :-)
I was glad to play a part in creating this day for him (both the retired physician, and Jaye, the pakistani lady, are friends of mine. He knows Jaye, but has never met the retired physician.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Here I am dressed in my jammies ready to take on the day

Promised myself that until the 3 bags sitting cut ready to sew are done I cannot play with the accuquilt..Stacey here's a demo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZa2vIcxxSY

I'm trying to work on projects early this am so I can get outside for an hour or so..still about 2 feet of snow so not a lot can be done, perhaps take down the christmas lights...

Susan, you are putting your home up for sale? Are you looking for another in same area? I'll have to do much the same, get Greg and his truck and make a trip to the dump, amazing what we collect..

Mom has been to Stage West here in the city but I've never been, she was quite impressed...Happy belated birthday to Bob and I'm sure you ARE much younger than he or is it because you put fewer candles on your cake? lol you both are getting spoilt..isn't it a spirit lifter! Am sure Bob appreciated being made to feel extra special...

AnnMarie, feels like you are outdoors at the cottage however can you imagine having to clean them all..I've a hard enough time with the windows I have here..with parents and in-laws all having vast amounts of knowledge re gardening you'll not want for advice or having a place to ask for help..lucky you...too cute, has your youngest ever weeded gardens before, tremendous amount of work, guess your plants have enough growth that he will know what are weeds and what are your treasures...well worth an extra large pizza for sure..
OH NO not the flu bug, you'd best rest..seems everyone I know who has it is down for at least a week..I've been lucky so far, touch wood, that I haven't caught it..everyone at work has....

How right you are AnnMarie, children don't wait for the opportune time (or is it us) lol..Stacey, seems a long time away until October but it seems like yesterday and already we are entering 2nd week of March so before you know it mommy you'll be!

Tubby how did you sleep last night? Hope you are all comfy in bed dreaming of Shirley while I type....

Debbie hope both you and Paul are well rested after your movie day yesterday...

Bev, been thinking of you and Scotty a lot..could you post and let us know how he is doing?

Got to go play..be back on my next break..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Mary-I won't be able to find out until the middle end of June since I am only like 6weeks...we have themes picked up, but are dependent on that June Dr's appt....

AnnMarie-I am sure about that!!LOL With the grandma's and all...

Betty-I will check out that video later. Popping in for a quick hello while I have some plain toast before I go to work.

Have a great day everyone!!

That nice to hear Tubby! Before you know it, you will be out planting something in the garden?

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, need 1 birthday gift and the 2 others will be gift/gifts..no hurry to do them except if I put everything away to move on to something new will I finish them? Soooo made a commitment to myself...no play until I'm done...

Working hard, hopefully by 5pm I can clean up ..

Need lunch..tummy is telling me it's hungry!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hello everyone!!

Mid 60's here again today! I'm feeling a little weak today and not very motivated, have a bit of a headache too. Took asperin, ate a Lean Cuisine, wanted to cook something for Dave but he wants bacon and starting today, I'm going to cut back on what I eat and try to stay away from all the grease, except for the days my dad and his girlfriend are visiting.

The NASCAR race is on so I'm off to the races! LOL

Best of yesterday: Got all of those brug clippings into dirt and cleaned out the John Deere trailer for our riding lawnmower so Dave can use it for the garden and other miscellaneous chores.

Worst of yesterday: My friend turned 30 yesterday and she stood me up, said she was making babysitting arrangements and she would text me when she knew what was going on and times and what-not, I never heard from her.

What did I learn: Things don't take near as long to do if you just get out and do it!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All;

Just popping in for a bit...

Betty is that cottage your Mom's new house? Susan - That Play sounds wonderful...very fun.....

Anjl...wish I had worked my (now-teens) at that age! They wouldn't know what weeding is!

DH and I worked in the Yard today...mostly cutting out dead stuff...but we did plant... I planted the yearly "Sweet Basil" and Tomatoes: 4 "Creole" 1 "Better Boy", 1 "Roma" and 1 "Early Girl".... We worked all day and the GOOD news was finding SOME green stuff amidst the dead stuff...it may take a while...but not all is lost hopefully from the most dreadful winter (I heard someone say at the nursery) in 9 or so years....

I am trying to be patient on cutting the Hibiscus back....probably wait till 3/29-3/30...

Hugs,
Mary

Just popping in to catch up.

Waving to Tubby, glad you are getting some sleep.

My second bike ride of the year today....oh my am I out of shape....everything is stiff and sore right now.

Spent all afternoon with Laura and my SIL looking at floor plans, signing papers and putting a down payment on their new house! They should start building in the nest week or two with a June move in date. They go out tomorrow to pick out counters, carpets, paint colors and all the fun stuff...
The Yards will be clean slates so Laura will be able to put in a pond and whatever she wants for gardens etc. They are like kids in a candy store right now.

Going to call it a night...have to do some shopping with mom tomorrow.

Hope you all have a good night!

You are up early 'Tubby' ..hope it was because you've had enough sleep and not because you need more sleep and can't...

Having my coffee and cleaning the mess I made yesterday sewing so will come back and gab once I'm at work..much to do this morning...

Did finish the 3 bags, had company drop in (got another birthday gift, lovely blue outfit) so by the time they left and I finished sewing I didn't play with my new toy, much too tired...

Be back in a few hours...

Good Morning!!!

Mary I cut my hibiscus back Saturday, got tired of looking at dead sticks. My elephant ears are outside too and they never went dormant because I kept them in the garage, don't know if that's a good idea or not, it's not getting below freezing now and we're supposed to be in the high 60's all week with thunderstorms starting tonight through Wednesday night.

I have a lot to do today so I'll chat with ya'll later! I took a few pictures over the weekend of buds and what-not but forgot to download them from my camera. I'll try to remember to do that tonight :(

Have a good day if I don't get back to ya'll!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wish I did Barb. It is not like Betty to go so long with out posting!

Betty, if your out there, please let us know your OK?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I hope she's alright, wonder if she lost her computer at work again and had something planned yesterday evening. I didn't download those pics, didn't get on the computer at all, ppptttttthhhhhhhhh

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ooops I'm here...did you ever have a few days that the world seems to be spinning tripple it's speed...

Busy/busy day at work yesterday then late afternoon a few friends called to say they were taking me out to the Market Place Buffet! Although I didn't feel much like going I thought better of it and off I went..dropped into Bernie's on my way home, can't believe the work he's managed to accomplish in his home in just 6 weeks..a double wow...

This morning I got up, listened to my messages only to find out that the painting group that paints Wednesdays changed their day to Tuesday this week..call was to tell me of the change..omg..I had all the tables ladden with projects so had to clean them off..

Just called home to talk to Darlene, one of the bags I made was for her birthday gift, wanted her to pick from the 5 I left on the table...now here is where it gets funny..

Darlene picked the bright pink colors, said she is ready for spring and that's why she wanted it...on Sunday June dropped in with a birthday gift for me, beautiful blue outfit, she looked at the bags and said how she'd love one, she has metal in both wrists and is always in pain, told her I'd make her one for her birthday, well, she said I couldn't be that generous so we opted that she would pay for material (approx $45.00 - mostly because of the fusible flannel which is $10. a meter and you need 1.3 meters) then all the material/buttons/cords etc.) and the labour of 5 hrs. would be her birthday gift....ok, thought we got through that process so this morning I said you pick one as well June, she said she picked the black and green one..so I'm ok..still leaves 3, my mom wanted one so the black and red one will be for her....oh/oh, June thought she was doing me a favor and sold the 3 left to the other girls for $45.00...now it cost me that to make them, they are friends and I don't mind BUT I had plans for the other ones...didn't have the heart to tell her No/No/No!

So guess I'll be picking up more material and making more....
Imagine that! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, didn't get a chance to even play with the Accuqilt..did manage to drop into Country Concessions and buy another die though, the 3" 1/2 square..looking at my patterns to determine what others I need so I can make a quilt using it...

As far as I know I'm going to Buffalo this weekend with friends (mom had a sad face that she wasn't asked but I told her the big weekend for she and Jim is mid April)..as a lot of you received coupons for Joann's I'm going to see if there is anyway I can download them and print just so I can participate in the sales...

Not sure why I'm going, guess just to get away because I certainly don't need anything..besides my cross stitch quilt should be done this weekend and it's mega $$$...guess you can't take it with you though so enjoy while you can..

Crissy looking forward to your photo's, Mary hope you have some of the yard as well, would love to see the green coming through the earth..

Trisha, how are the muscles? Bet it will take 1/2 doz. rides before they relax enough for you to totally enjoy..OMG the house is for Laura and family? will they still be close to you...how excited they must be..their very own home...tell her congrats for me please..she enjoying her new job? What is Sage up to these days...

LindaKay guess your dad is able to get outside a bit more these days...are you still sewing or do you move on to gardening...it's 48 here today and much the same for the entire week, Friday though the rain comes and stays till at least Tuesday, that will do it for snowmobiling, am sure Greg/Melanie and boys are crying...should wash all that dirty snow away, can't wait to get my pond cleaned and filled and spray working..that's when I'm most relaxed, sure miss living on the water..

Well I've been chatty, Paul and Suzanne are leaving in one hour..I've 12 squares of crochet to do a final row on, sew together and voila, another afghan done, will have to take photo's of the ones I've done that I still have which are for Christmas...then, I can move on the rag quilts, now that the accuquilt will not only cut the squares but do the fringe at same time I should be able to get them done in no time, providing that is I stay home and not road run..lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, nice to see youposting today! We all worry when you leave us stranded like this! Glad your OK. We all know too well, how life gets us whirling faster than we like!
Enjoy your evening painting, and then you can get back to your bags! WOW, they are really pricey to make!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Linda Kay, nice being missed!

The bags yes are really expensive..large bag, inner and outer print, large pockets all around the inside, inner and outer print, then the two large pocked lined and also the 10`` pocket closure..mostly it``s the fusible flannel..add them all together and it`s $45.00...Poor June, know she thought she was making me additional $$$$ for spending across the border..lol...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Boy you are whirling! I'll get the pics on Picasa tonight, I promise!! Well seems I'm the only one here in my department today so I'll attempt to man this... LOL!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, did everyone else call in sick? At least you will have a quiet day?

Victoria Harbour, ON

I`m so homesick..want to be home with the girls today, not sure ifr it`s the nice weather and I`m thinking of all the things I could be doing..just called the girls (3rd time this morning) got them to take out the accuquilt, put a die through and cut squares to show them how it works..they did it, are impressed, now I WANT to be home..drats, if the extra money to spend on toys and playing and travelled wasn`t nice to have I`d leave today and and say bye bye.... must be coming a time shortly because I keep thinking of being home..

Crissy, is it a lovely day in your neck of the woods, perhaps they are all at home gardening, smarter than I, should have called in sick as well...
