40's and rain today. After dark the wind started to pick up. Dismal!
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 65
HOLEY MOLEY that was the craziest weather I think I've seen, there are huge puddles all over our backyard. All my little welcome rocks and truck planter got blown off the front stairs, the window in my daughter's room was leaking, water kept coming in like crazy. Cheap crap builders windows.
We drove past a house that it's side bashed in from a tree, garbage cans and lawn furniture everywhere. Down the street the road was blocked off. So don't know what happened there. Lights flickered but never went out.
Have they put a name to that storm monsoon? hurricane?
we have flood warnings that the rockaway river is going to be almost 2 foot over flood stage in Boonton... glad I am not there!!!... and up hill!!!!
It is raining with more to come. the winds picking up, wind is what knocked power out for 3 days last time. We are on high ground, but the street to hywy 1 A had flooding last storm. there is still snow in marshy areas nearby.
Where did you find that list?
I get it emailed to me ... any emergency event

There goes the power...

Your kidding? Not to worry, it won't last!!! Nothing here yet.......just some wind, but it's been windy since yesterday. Was supposed to burn the brush pile but didn't dare to, don't think we'll try it today either.
Expecting rain/snow showers today into tomorrow.

Dewpoint:25 °F
Wind:NE 12 mph

Almost think it's a typo...but says we will hit 58 on Tuesday!!!!!!!!
I'll be outside Tuesday & Wed. then. ^_^
Cloudy and rain now. Heavy rain over night, 3-5 inches, and 30- 40 mph winds with higher gusts. Still very windy but I think it has calmed down a lot from overnight to between 10-20 mph from the ENE. Temp now is 45 degrees. After tomorrow the rest of the week looks amazingly nice. Above freezing through next weekend which is good but does worry me about the lacecap hydrangea starting to wake up this early. It seems very unlikely we will not get more freezing temps and that could cause a problem with that bush and the flower buds. All this rain has no doubt helped with defrosting the soil a bit deeper so that is a good thing overall I think. Saw some crocus leaves. ^_^
46*F and overcast, but the rain has stopped for awhile at least. Ric
wow now there is a strange thing... there is very loud thunder here
43° Rain & high wind last night & this morning. Can still hear the wind, but it has stopped howling. Have not been out this morning. both still going on but no power loss so far.
Lots of rain here but none of the high winds. Wonder how WC is. South shore got hit hard.
46 and cloudy.
raining heavy here since last night - the wet lands out back are now growing to lake proportions - was very windy last night and still breezy today - we were in the 4" band of rain based on the news last night - has to be more than that.
NJ got slammmed!!!!!!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100314/ap_on_re_us/us_stormy_weather
and it's not over yet
All you folks are in my prayers that you make it thru without damage to yourselves or property. Light rain here. My temp shows 40.8. Wind is probably between 10 and 15 mph (cold though). Yesterday was nice here. I was able to finish placing my raised beds in the garden. I changed the layout a little from last year. The ground was shovelable (if that's a word) though clumpy. Frost is about 6 inches down in most of my vegetable garden. Haven't tested flower beds yet. Looking forward to the rest of the week. Peace y'all.
45°, windchill 32°, wind NE 16mph, cloudy
- I'm ok Victor!☺!
Thanks for your concern, I went out in that mess last night to get my Pizza! lol!
Looked like waves on the streets, lots of people were at the shopping malls last, night the roads were packed and the cars were still moving @ 50mph on the local streets! (Long Islanders are speed demons).
My DW's friend in Queens got hit hard and has no power until Tuesday, (no heat either).
Nice & warm here... thank goodness.
Good to hear, WC!
Power is still on here & if lost the warmer temps help to assure no frozen pipes. Still raining but less wind. Prayers to all those in NJ & elsewhere who have lost power & heat. It was unpleasant here a couple of weeks ago.
Massive thunderstorms all morning. Crazy crazy weather. One article had a police chief saying this is one of the worst storms he's seen in his 35 years as a policeman.
I have a Rubbermaid bin next to my shed. It has 5" of water in it!!!!!!
Town north of us listed 4.11" of rain so probably our total. Basement dry, one bed under water, glad that we have removed most of the irises from it. shouldn't hurt DL?
Coming week looks real nice starting Tuesday. I hope to get going outside.
It's going to take a month to dry out. It started raining again about 1/2 hour ago.
... assuming we get no April showers.
misty rain here, 43°
Geez!!!! from nj.com
"the Raritan River crested more than 9 feet above flood level today"
Rain still going. Have pump running in the basement.
42 now going to 44...
mine too Iris... and it's pouring still... not supposed to stop until tonight.... they now pushed the flood warnings to Wed
DH reported that as of 5:30 this morning, pump was holding its own. We are not along a river etc. but the house just north of us is on higher ground and partly on a granite ledge. After 2 solid days of heavy rain (going on 3 days) the water is flowing down towards our house. One bed which is usually dry is full of water. This happened before in 2006 & we have taken most of the dwarf irises out of that bed. They dried out fine the last time, but have some which I would not like to lose. I can still hear the wind, but I think it is not as bad. Temp 39°.
we have hills all around us to... all running into the house... sub pump is working good.. we would be pumping this out if we didn't install that 2 years ago.. happy we did.. I am guessing a few things will be lost with all this wet ground.. not having high hopes for my agastache
42°, windchill 25°, wind NNE 13mph, light rain
Lots of piles of debris in front of houses this am, broken patio furniture, siding, roofing, and tree limbs. Still very wet out there.
Sorry to hear how much damage and rain you all got South of me. :( I can't believe the wind damage and flooding going on!!
Even my own State had 5" of rain dumped on them but not up here in the Cental Maine area. I've been spared the brunt of almost every bad storm this winter, you know why don't you??
Because I replaced my roof last year with a metal one and bought a generator!!
Seriously, i've been coming to the N.E. forum for 4 years now, when have I had such a mild winter? I've been slammed w/flooding, hurricane force winds, 113 inches of snow in one winter, and power outages for days at a time. Now I am having one of the mildest winter I can remember in my 50 years!!
