We're back up ! (?) - system issues here, please

Cochise, AZ(Zone 8b)

Lots of people do work nights and weekends but most people do expect to work a regular schedule unless the are involved in "critical emergency" type work. I pay about a nickel a day for this site. Think I usually get my moneys worth even when it's Sloooooooooow ;-)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Thanks, Melody. That's good to hear and I'm hoping for a good resolution soon.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I hate to say this for fear of jinxing something (*smile*), but it seems things are moving a little faster on page loads and even loading the home page with refreshed information.

Has anyone else noticed a change (positive or negative) in the last hour?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

I was afraid to comment for the same reason...

Yes, I'm faster.

North Augusta, ON

Yes, slightly faster here too :))

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

So far faster.

Some forums are faster, but leaving this forum to return to home and a few others are still slow as molasses....

Amen to that and thank you for pointing it out. Getting our knickers in a knot during
a major change doesn't help.

Terry — Things are getting noticeably faster!

Ok.....better now! Thank you!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I've been doing other stuff (not surfing), but it SEEMS a bit faster. Crossing fingers here.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I am still finding it painfully poky.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Podster, LOL. I just got on DSL and I commented it was almost like being on dial-up again.

Terry, over the last couple of days, I only notice a slowness in some posts being transferred, and slow going back to the home page.

I'm naive about computers, but I understand the huge task of putting everything in a different place. At least we are all getting around.

Logan Lake, BC(Zone 3a)

Getting better, just got a blank page when I went from one thread to another within the daylily forum.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

It is a lot like a big company packing up everything and moving across country to new offices. The boxes all arrive, but some that you need first are under a pile of others. Some boxes get put in the wrong offices and the phones don't go to the correct extension. It takes a bit to sort through things and get things back on track, but we're getting there. Just bear with us a bit linger.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

If I had to guess, the speed is getting back to normal as dial up is slowing down. Oh well, it WAS fun while it lasted.

BillyPorter ~ Say it ain't so... I must be the last one in the "garden" on dial up...

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Oh Pod, I waited 4 years to get on DSL. I also just got my own computer in February. My Christmas present from the money my Dad gave me. No more sharing, and I get to be in my own kitchen. I couldn't be happier!! Hope all is well with you!

Himrod, NY(Zone 6a)

First I will confess I did not read this entire thread...........it started to blur after the first 30 or so posts. If this problem has been mentioned I apologize.

Problem: when I updated a post in my garden blog, hit finished and then hit back to "such and such blog" it took me right to DG home page.

I tried it a couple of times and right back to DG home page each time.

I have my 'blog' page bookmarked so I can get back there, just a round about way.

Thanks for any help,
Joy

edited to say, this thread did not watch after my post.

The speed IS better this morning.

South Hamilton, MA

I find going to home is still slow, pictures appear slowly, but then do so & one notice about SQL damaged which did not do any good as I don't know what it is. Had to go off then & sign in again so I could find the site.

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

I've been on the other side of the process, and I have some idea of what a huge and challenging undertaking this must have been.
Speed is somewhat better for me today, I'm happy to report. Still not quite back to "normal", but definitely seeing improvements!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the reports - both the good and the not-so-good. Please keep them coming, and please know that the tech team is working hard to get everything back "up to speed" (quite literally.)

Encino, CA(Zone 9a)

We're likely going to a little down time tonight (around 11pm PST) to optimize how the site interacts with the databases. It should only last 30 minutes or so.

We're hopeful that this will ease some of the pain regarding the 'slowness' people have been experiencing - sorry about that.

We actually put in 'beefier' machines (highly technical term there) than what the site was previously on so the slowness was not expected. However, there's a lot we will be doing to optimize performance of the site as we learn more and more about it over the course of the coming weeks.

Hang in there, we'll get you back up to warp speed.

Grandview, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you:)

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Can you get us up to speed and weed at the same time? That would be awesome.

I actually think this has gone rather well. Slowness is not the end of the world. My journal is still intact, as is everything else I use, so I am happy. I will get ready for the warp speed, but my mind my not work that fast. Patti

South Hamilton, MA

Just sat on a post on the iris forum while waiting to get back 'home'. It seems to vary from thread to thread.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

It is very slow loading for me, thought at first it was on my end and checked with my server and they did a check (don't know what that consisted of) and said that this web site had issues???? I asked them and they referred me to contact someone at this sight about it.

So this is my two cents.

Thanks terry and melody for all that you two do for us as our contacts. I appreciate you both.

Janet

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

No, Podster, you're not the only one still on dialup, lol. Strangely, I haven't noticed the slowness issue so much...maybe it depends on when we're on, or how many of us are on, I dunno.
We could have a solitaire tournament. ;)

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Yes, despite my grousing, it hasn't been awful. Just a tad annoying on occasion.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

The maintenance scheduled for later tonight is to improve the site's speed. Keep your fingers (and maybe your toes) crossed!

springfield area, MO(Zone 5b)

will be nice when it is all fixed up :)

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Not solitare Kywoods ~ but you are welcome to sit in on a hand of hearts. I keep one going but lose fluently! lol
Odd but did you notice service was more efficient while all the DSLrs were grumbling. Dang it ~ back to slow here now!

BTW, looking forward to DG going down at 11 p.m. I might actually get to bed early... 8 )

Marlton, NJ

After a few times of slowness back and forth it seems to pick up speed.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Well, the site was down for 3 hours for me tonight but now that I know the reason I'm not so disgruntled or bored. lol

Came here first so not sure about speed yet. It seemed to do pretty good coming from home page to here though. :~)

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Pretty fast at times then it slows down. Not as bad as it has been but still not evening out yet.

Encino, CA(Zone 9a)

Actually, we haven't taken the site down yet.

Hmm, this doesn't bode well.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

At one point I got the 505 server error message. But it took at least 10 minutes to get to that point.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

That's odd. I have been on/off the site all day and evening, and haven't seen that.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Dear Terry,
I have not experienced any of the problems mentioned. I am still here..

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

This is the message that I have been getting:

well...that didn't work
It was a message saying that the site was down for maintenance.

It does seem that it is nearly up to speed now.
