We're back up ! (?) - system issues here, please

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

When I was on this thread a little while ago, I clicked on Dave's Garden to go back to the home page and it took me to The Dave's Garden forum list of threads. In case I accidently clicked on the wrong one, I came back to this thread and tried again... specifically hitting Dave's Garden and came back here a second time. I had to click on Home on the tool bar above to get me out of here.

Think that was a glitch but it hasn't happened for me on any of the other forums. Off to try it again.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I gave you an update this morning that everything was working great. Well the computer god got mad then and shut me down. The was time it took over 14 minutes to go from one thread to another. I do understand but I do hope they are working overtime. Cubits is also having problems. Who is going to win here. I love DG and will not leave but I am going to be 68 in August. I do not have forever to open threads. LOL. LET'S DO IT.......

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I've tried numerous times throughout the day to get into DG, but have been unable to. Tonight I waited it out and it finally did load, then I waited for a long time to get into this forum.

Agonizingly slow.

It pains me to say that I usually give up and find something else to do instead :((

Ditto -- and this is with high-speed cable, can't imagine what would happen with dial-up. Starting to remind me of my job -- everytime someone comes up with an "improvement" it means it's harder to get my job done!

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

i talked to a friend this morning who confirmed that her computer (same server as mine) was SO slow yesterday and kept getting weird glitches, so my problems maybe or maybe not were related. this morning i find things on dg a tad slow but improving very much over yesterday...no obvious problems to report.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Actually, I am on Possum Bell dial up and I have noticed it to be only minimally slower. Since this transition, I've never had trouble logging on to DG morning, evening or occassionally at work. I've read everyones comments about it being slow but it was not enough slower here to complain. For once being on dial up is a bonus.

No, that shouldn't happen. If you haven't yet, try clearing your browser's cache/history and perhaps rebooting.

As to the slowdowns you're experiencing (intermittent or otherwise). I reported this issue to the tech team yesterday, and they replied back, so I know they are aware of it. (My guess is that DG is probably a lot bigger than what they usually deal with.)

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

Terry,

It is happening a lot this a.m. especially when I click on the HOME tab to refresh the page. Also when I click on one of my WATCHED threads to see a new reply.

Debbie

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I am happy to report that things are working much better this morning. Thank you.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

The home page/tab is the "heaviest" page to load, and it's where I think we're going to see the longest delays until we get things fixed.

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

Seems a wee bit better this morning, but the home page is still slow to load.
I suspect IB's finding they've got a tiger by the tail...LOL!

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Noticeably faster page loads this morning!

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

Getting noticeably faster from where it was earlier this morning.

I am having the same thing...article about Ruby Kinglets.etc still there not sure how to fix it.....I thought I cleared the history. Can somebody tell how to clear it? I have windows XP. I am a computer idiot!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I would think using F5 key would refresh your page.... If not history can be cleared by clicking tools/ internet options/ browsing history/ then select what you want to delete.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

yep, what Sheila_FW said (thanks!!!!)

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

It is slow moving about the site, but it is "agonizingly slow" (someone else used that and it describes it perfectly) to post to a thread. So tired of looking at an hour glass and little wheels spinning... I've checked back in several times over the last few days to see if things are better. I can't say they are. My "New Posts" list is getting longer and longer as I just don't even want to take the time...

Running XP and Firefox. I also clean up my files regularly with a software program.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Do I want to delete the cookies?

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Okay, I'll say it. What is going on with the speed here? I'm good for changes, but this slowdown has gone on for days, and I am on high speed internet. I can't even imagine how this is for dial up users.

BSavage ~ it has not been a dial up issue.

Sloooooww.

I've never spent so much time visiting other sites, as I have the last few days. I's say IB needs to make this top priority.

This is getting way beyond disgusting.

I'm on High Speed Cable.

Sashagirl

Warren Center, PA(Zone 5b)

newsletter incomplete, no photos of Blooms of the Day only DG Banner and I agree with Sashagirl, the slow speed is way out of control. IB needs to either fix it or go back to the original server.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I am really surprised by the negative remarks here. This was a big undertaking and there will be kinks to that have to be worked out.

I seem to have fixed my issues...Thanks Terry & Shelia!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I have passed along the newsletter issue to the tech team this morning and reiterated the speed issue. I do understand your frustrations, but going back to the old servers isn't feasible (and would be terribly painful to even try.)

In the meantime, when a link to a new page is loading really slowly, try clicking on the red "x" to stop it and then click on the link again.

Warren Center, PA(Zone 5b)

Nanny, if nobody complains then IB will not know there is a problem. If everyone just sits back and lets things go on without any comments then we will wind up with a site that doesn't work and then they will leave. We know it is a big undertaking and we all know that the Administrators like Terry and Melody and the rest of them are doing a terrific job trying to get things working right. This is not a free site and I pay good money for high speed internet and yes I get frustrated when I log on and get timed out, I don't think any of the Administrators take all these comments personally and they are not meant to be. They started this thread to eliminate the bugs that take place during a server change and if they didn't want to hear from us then they wouldn't have started it. I got my newsletter this morning and no photos of the plants of the day, now I just got a second one and it still didn't have the photos, so something is obviously wrong. I am glad you fixed your issues but I have no control over getting timed out and the lack of photos in the newsletter. Hence my negative remarks.

Warren Center, PA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Terry I will try that, and like I said in my previous post I hope you and the rest of the group don't take these complaints personally. We are all spoiled by the way DG operated in the past and that I know was do to all of you, Dave and Trish. Hopefully, you'll bear with all our frustrations and eventually we will all stop venting and go about our usual chit chat.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Skip to new took me to the posts that were new the last time that I was on here(and it took a looong time to do even that).

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I'm still trying to be patient here. I resolved that I would stick with DG unless it becomes something quite different from the community that I've come to know and love.

But, the bottom line is that most of my DG friends are now also on the new site and have recreated their favourite forums from here on that site and if the speed issue continues, I think DG will see a real exodus as people give up in frustration. It really is important to get these issues resolved as quickly as possible.

Still taking a long time to load. I also go elsewhere while waiting. I have DSL and this reminds me of dial-up! LOL

Ann I so agree with you!

I haven't said anything before, but I guess it is time. Very sloooooooow. Have to click several times to get anything to show up after going to a new thread, waiting for skip to new to show up. If I've made myself clear. As ves522 said above, I go somewhere else while waiting.

Could I get a link to that new site?

Thanks,
GD

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Ahem....well, for obvious reasons, we are a little reluctant to advertise another site here. So, let's focus on the main topic, which is getting DG's problems identified and resolved.

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

Threatening to "take our business elsewhere" is really not a solution.
Keep in mind that Dave himself was assisting with the massive data
transfer so it's not a question of ineptness but of the complexity of
moving to new servers.

Terry, perhaps Michael of IB could post some specifics of what is
being done to resolve the slowness?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

They have made the speed of DG a priority today. That is the #1 issue.

Michael gave this the top billing as soon as they hit their desks this morning.

Hopefully we'll see this resolved quickly. (I'm just as slow as everyone else)

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

If they hit the desks this morning does that mean they had the weekend off? If they did boy were they lucky.

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Melody. I find that right clicking takes me back more quickly
to pages than just clicking on the page name. That might help some
who are struggling with the delays.

springfield area, MO(Zone 5b)

I too am having pages load very slowly or not at all. I have no problems with other sites, so I know it's DG.
I hope it is fixed soon or I too will move along... it is just too slow and frustrating, and I don't have the time right now to sit and wait on it.!

Good question. When there were problems this weekend, was IB actually working on them?

Like other people, I've found other websites to visit while the one that I pay for is too slow for me to use.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Some folks were on the job all weekend, but the full team is now working on things as of this morning.
