What's for dinner Pt5
Randy would never eat it
Hubby would eat it
Feeling better, Jen? Hope so.
Company didn't come - he's sick. They were bringing food, so I didn't plan. Soup and sandwiches.
Oh Geez, hope you feel better Jen!! Rice should help tighten things up if ya know what I mean.
I hope I don't get that bug, I lost a bunch of weight this past week due to this stupid cold, I can't afford to lose anymore!
Robin, Pasta fagioli is one of my favorites!!
That did sound deelishus, Robin!!!
Thanks! Hope you are better, Jen...it's going around here, too. Today I baked a small ham with pineapple, applesauce, haricots vert, & a pasta salad...bought a carrot cake at our library book & bake sale yesterday.
That's the only cooking mag I get... 'Cooks' - Great reviews on cookware & good pointers on cooking techniques too!
Thanks for the pasta fagioli Robin.
I had a touch of that bug last week down here, I swear.
Lasagne with no boil noodles and canned sauce. My standards ain't what they used to be.
Yeah ok haven't really eaten anything in 3 days haven't lost any weight, what's the deal with that???
I think I'll just be doing pasta and olive oil tonight.
Will add sauce to the kids' pasta
Homemade chicken broth(made last week) w/rotini noodles thrown in and reheated in the micro--nature's penicillin...and I need it! Think I picked up a bug at work--been on outbreak status for>2 weeks.
roast pork tenderloin with gravy
wasabi mashed sweet potatoes
asparagus with roasted red pepper sauce
steak, greenbeans and baked potato.
I'm eating with you, Deb! Sorry, Phoebe, that you're sick also....lots of stomach bugs out there. Today I had stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes, & pickled beets courtesy of Twin Colony Diner...after cooking Sundays, I take a break on Mondays.
Tonight, Barbecued boneless ribs, stuffed baked potatoes, and baked apple with cream cheese/caramel.
Tomorrow is also started, Ham,taters, green beans, and biscuits to take to my Uncle's house. Ric
PS. The apple tasted like marshmallow, yummy!
- Baked Brie W/ light olive oil & Basil
- 1/4" thin pork chops sauteed in white truffle oil
- macaroni & cheese (shells)
- spinach & tomato salad w/ 1000 island dressing
- for dessert, some chocolates from Manhattan decorated with 24 karat gold flakes and filled with liquid dark chocolate, (picked up today near Wall St.)
...and of course a couple of Icy Guinness Draught beers served in a Guiness pre-chilled beer mug.
oh YUM!!!!
Glad you're feeling better! lol!
Jen, try the apples, they could be used for a dessert instead of a veggie/fruit! Ric
Some people are living too well, WC!
... yes the chocolates with the gold was a bit over the top, 14k would have done just fine...
(lol)
^_^
It was nice enough out to fire up the grill for filet mignon, with spinach and potato pierogis and a gingered beet and carrot salad.
what no grilling in the snow like I do???
not usually!
Randy will shovel a path to the grill for me if he wants it bad enough
We grilled tonight too...I was soooo in the mood just for a burger after not eating any real food for the past couple of days.
a real burger on the grill...is a wonderful thing!!
Glad you're feeling better, Jen. Sorry you picked up the bug, PhoebesV.
I found a recipe for baked corned beef and tried that with sauteed cabbage and potatoes. Instead of boiling the CB you stick it with a few whole cloves, coat it with spicy honey mustard and then sprinkle brown sugar on taop. Fully tent with foil - leaving some space on top between the meat and the foil. Place in shallow roasting pan. 350 in the oven for 2 hours. It was pretty good. Not a real big fan of corned beef. So, why did I get it you ask? Just to try it again. ^_^
sounds good... my niece says my corned beef is the best she ever had.. that's all I needed.. in protest that she couldn't come here last year she refused to eat my mothers.. told her it could never be as good as Aunt Allison's ... LOL.. my mom was miffed
That's funny, allison. How do you fix it?
Ok yes share, hubby hates it (usually) last year he said it wasn't half bad...oh thanks a lot.
well it is usually like my chili... don't measure... but boiled .. black pepper, all spice, bay leaves, garlic (fresh or granulated).. depends on what is in my spice rack.. last year I even through in pickling spice... but sometimes thyme or sage.. whatever I have.. potatoes, carrots, onions
put all the spices in a big pot with the corned beef... and I never get the flat cuts.. always the triangle ones (whatever the cut is called).. simmer for 2 1/2 hours.. add the carrots, potatos, and onions... another 15 mins... add the cabbage and the last 15 mins
my mom will put the corned beef in a pot with water.. add cabbage and be done with it.. I usually make 2 so we have left overs.. the one is never enough.. LOL
Mmmm...everything sounded so good tonight...mine was leftovers, so not very inspiring.
Thanks, Allison. Why the triangle instead of flat? Is it better?
more fat.. more flavor.. and juicier ... the flat cuts have less fat.. and can be dry
That's true they are more flavorful ... I'm getting hungry. (lol)
Fried chicken w/ spanish rice & beans, salad on the side and some orange & vanilla ice cream
nice!!!
New pasta recipe with tomatoes and asparagus.
