Ham steaks.
What's for dinner Pt5
ham steak tonight. Son's fav.
Just had some ham-bean soup yesterday so I bypassed the ham steaks today--but thought about this thread!. We had baked pollock, topped with a Paula Deen's recipe, sauteed onions mixed with mayo and jack cheese, (bake fish partway then top and bake some more to brown the stuff) with baked potatos and brussels sprouts.
I saw other recipes for Chicken Lasagne that used eggs. This doesn't. Came from a neighborhood cookbook.
Chicken Broccoli Lasagne
9 cooked lasagne noodles
1/4 c butter or marg
1/4 c flour
2 tsp chicken bouillon
1 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp pepper
2 1/2 c milk
1 1/2 c (12 oz) creamed cottage cheese
6 c (1 1/2 lb) broccoli cooked, drained
5 oz sliced mushrooms
12 oz (3 c) shredded Swiss cheese
2 to 3 c chopped cooked chicken
Heat oven to 350 F. Melt butter and cook onion till tender. Stir in flour, seasons and milk and make a white sauce. Stir in cottage cheese, broccoli and mushrooms.
In 13 by 9 dish, layer 3 noodles, 1/3 of chicken , sauce, and Swiss. , repeat layers twice. Bake about 30 min till heated thoroughly. Let stand 15 min before serving.

Grilled cheese with tomato on Ezekiel bread and vegetable soup.
What is Ezekiel bread? Been meaning to ask...
me too
Ezekiel too! Google it.
Ezekiel bread: http://www.foodforlife.com/sprouted-grain-difference.html
A passage in the bible talks about sprouting certain grains and making bread out of them. These guys did that, and discovered the particular grains, plus sprouting (or something like that) make up a whole protien. They sell it in health food stores and in some regular grocery stores. It's yummy.
Sounds wonderful, but when I tried to find a retailer near me, it said it is not available within 100 miles of my zip code! :-(
Fresh Cod Loin via microwave, Mashed potato, Salad w/butter lettuce, Homemade microwave applesauce for dessert.
I bet you can find it - maybe it would just be a different brand. I had no idea what it was either until someone described it. I think I always call it sprout bread. Isn't there Whole Food Markets down there? I know they carry stuff like that. Hannafords up here even has it in there small freezer of health foods. I've also seen it in lots of different mom and pop type stores that specialize in vitamins and health supplements.
Phoebe your Super Stop & Shop has it in the "Oraganic' frozen food section, I called and verified. ^_^
edited to say I was also told by my cousin to try Trader Joes, they may have it.

Thanks for the recipe, Sally! Will def. make it---did not cook today, as I was at the farm babysitting for Grant from 9-4---he did take a nice 3 hour nap, but I'm still reeling.
Phoebe, that's so strange that the website isn't calling up any retailers in CT. Try the places Celeste and Meredith suggested. It's pretty common.
Chicken baked with lemon, capers, & olives---orzo salad, & sugar snaps.

Yes, Sally, homemade...easy recipe....I saute a 1" thick piece of pancetta---drain most of the fat, & then add a chopped onion, about 1/2 cup each of chopped celery & carrot, chopped clove of garlic. When softened, I add 1/2 cup of white wine, a quart of chicken or vegetable broth, & a can of diced tomatoes. Cook a cup of ditalini separately, & add to broth, along with a can of rinsed & drained white beans...salt & pepper to taste. Enjoy.
Gatorade, water and chicken broth

sorry Jen.. hope you feel better
Thanks,
Well I had my first cracker and put rice in the broth so we'll see how it goes.
