Snow Lottery

OK everyone it's time for me to have some fun with all this snow we have. Since I'm going to be looking at it until July, I thought we'd do a little lottery game.

Rules are simple: Everyone gets to enter 1 guess as to the date the very last clump of compacted snow crud melts here at my house in Virginia. Closest date wins.

The winner will get a gift certificate to Almost Eden Plants, and maybe a few homemade goodies as well.

Now what you need to know to make an informed guess is this:

1. We had between 45 and 50 inches of snow here in the last week or so.
2. We live in a heavily wooded area where we don't get a lot of sun.

I will update the progress via pictures as we melt.
I'll keep a running list in the next post down.

well I'm a little confused, won't it be difficult to tell when the last piece of crud melts, because you will get more between now and then?

well if more snow is added to it, like I think you are meaning,?

AW, I was there Nov of 2004 for Thanksgiving. First time I ever flew for 5 hours and it was on the red eye from Sacramento to the airport in Washington ( I think). Kind of strange to leave California at 12:00 midnight and get into another state and have it be 8:00 am but yet only in the air for 5 hours. I had jet lag really bad. Slept alot that day and took a good nap the next day.

Wonder how my in-laws are dealing with all that snow,lol.

April 17 th......... what do I know about snow ? LOL !

Snow will melt April 19, but then I can't remember ever seeing that much snow. I can see the snow on the mountains from my kitchen window and that's good enough for me. I really hope you don't have to wait that long.

That's more than 4 feet of snow!! Let's see here, February 26th, if there is no more accumulation.

4/5 is my guess. I had earlier choices but some were taken.

I do know that on Earth Day in Madison, WI there still were little piles of snow in shaded places on a parking lot. But their gound is much colder there. However, they didn't have quite that much snow. So there is my logic, like it really matters!

Thanks for joining us Twyla and Jaye!! Sun is out today and it is dripping off the 5 ft. long icicles on the eaves. I keep knocking them off where I can reach them, but they "regrow". :0)

Yikes! Yep, it's sunny and a little melty here today. Those icicles are scary! I've been knocking ours down, too. We only have six inches of snow, though.

Oh no, snow melting and I'm way off into April. Glad for you though, always glad to see snow melting away, that means closer to gardening time.
