Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends!

Victoria Harbour, ON

OOOOH, didn't get a call yet from Sharon but I went online..think her dog won best of breed again this year then moves on to another catagory...

Why I'm thinking hers won is because I recognize Grammy..he's the only male showing dogs of similar breed..moves on now to Best of Non-Sporting Dogs..not sure when that's on

Good afternoon.

Audrey, Smiling with misty eyes! Yours is true love matched right from heaven.

Betty, wow, the bench is great! I love the simplicity of it.

Mary, Well, i think it's great you and Dh put aside a day to work together...Sorry the weather didn't cooperate with the plan but glad you were able to do a little, and ahhh greeted with a smile from the earth. Love her up and she loves you right back. So glad you are seeing signs of spring!

Linda Kaye...How nice to go for rides with your dad. I used to love to go with Steve on long rides just for the alone time to visit and make dreams for the future..Later long rides and even short ones were great to talk with the kids.

Well, Yesterday started off real bad, Had an argument about my computer use a gain, grrr. By lunch time we laid all the cards on the table again...what can I say, i occupy my time with all kinds of things, computer, sewing, reading and sometimes gabbing. It's not like I go anywhere and I haven't spent a dime other then the little I saved up. His problem seems to be he is bored! So i should not be so busy when he is home, Excuse me?? LOL, I said what do you want me to do sit and watch your every move, just clean all day and night 24/7.
Good grief...With my telling him yet another time that visiting on the computer IS my only mean of socializing. He got the picture, i think.
Then he started up on my not visiting with him when he is driving. Ok, now we are with that, So I simply said if he would drive like a normal person and quit trying to teach everyone else how to drive, I wouldn't be such a wreck while he's driving. Holding my breath and praying we get to destination takes all my energy to talk to him... lol. In the end i told him he needs to get a hobby, or work on the things he wants to do...His bottom line, is he needs to get away, I should send him to the house....Yikes, anyway thanks for listening to me babble on...Arguments over. LOL V-day is just another day with us, We still love each other through all the thick, the thin, and the stupid.

Betty, meant to tell you I was also thinking those tea cup pin cushions are adorable.

In the mean time I'm still here, still sewing, while doing the laundry and watching the movie Dances with Wolves for the thousandth time. Amazing that move is 25 years old and I never ever tire of it.

Happy family day to you Betty.
See you in a while.

Yay...Excellent!

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Doe how nice to have a mate and real love.

Betty a treat lifts one's spirits i think.. youtr a real angel and deserve treats.

everyone be well, take care blessings.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got a kick out of you Judy, loved Roger to bits, but boy did he need a lesson or two..maybe he and Steve got the same driving instructor...close your eyes, hold on tight and hope you get there...Greg drives much the same...

When I would cook (and yes I liked cooking at one time) he'd be telling me what to add, how to stir, etc.etc. so handed him the spoon and that was the end of my cooking..everyone got a kick that he'd cook all day Sunday in order to make me t.v. dinners so the kids and I wouldn't starve, he was on the road and I said no cooking, nope, no,no,no! Kids now say I'm the only grandma that can burn water! Never did get back to it...all kidding aside, I do cook when I'm homesick for homecooked meals...and when I cook I cook like Roger did, for family of 10...

Everyone Judy has to have a day to air out differences, nothing worse than a man never being home, working all day then have to stay home..wants you by his side all day..soon he'll be back to work and you'll have the computer to chat with us...

Thanks Twyla for your kind words...made my day..

Well, it's time to call it a day, going to sit and relax on the chesterfield, set the alarm for 9pm just incase I fall asleep..want to see if I can catch the dog show for Best in Non-Sporting group..she'd be thrilled to come home with that title...

So off for something to eat...got stew to last me all week lol, have a bath and relax...

Best of the day..thrilled that Sharon's American Eskimo got Best of Breed in N.Y. Westminster Show

Worse...no worse..

What did I learn today..that great method that Jaye posted for the quilt..got to try that one..I'll have all day tomorrow to browse the site..

Good Lord was good to me this weekend, I've accomplished much, felt healthy, bit lonesome - holidays tend to brings memories around...

Melanie (DIL) bench is stained ready to paint goodness knows what color, they are all away at hockey, 1/3 of my afghan done with leftover wool done and other than putting the name of my swap partner on the seed package, I'm ready to give it 10 coats of finish and ship it out by Friday...

Thanks for keeping me company, wasn't as lonesome with you all around today, family is family and many of you certainly are that to me...

I come to sit and chat just as I would if one of my own were visiting...

Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow!

HUGS TO ALL !

Yes! JUDY, LK, Betty and All....I have much to learn and this year has been a HUGE learning experience!

I'll be back on later....

Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning..

Barb, your afghan is coming along nicely, good choice on the variegated..get's a bit addictive doesn't it? Those topper are beautiful and omg so much work..so far have you been keeping to schedule? Show isn't until November is it?

Talking to mom last night, asked me to check up on the Hamburg N.Y. spring show..April 23rd..guess I'll be crossing the border once again! Did enjoy their Christmas one..am sure the spring one will be filled with goodies...

Where do they hold the one you'll be in Barb? Will Norm get involved and so some woodwork to include?

Waving Mary...

Well, it's curbside garbage this morning, must get things together, going to sit and enjoy a few hours before trotting off to work..thing with having so many days off and enjoying playing around you start to wonder if maybe you shouldn't retire?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks Betty I like the way the afghan is coming too. I hadn't thought to ask Norm if he wanted to do anything for the craft sale. Maybe I'll ask him to make me a few of the small wall ladders. They fit the runners on the right of the picture and work out well. Maybe I could sell them as sets. Must see about that!!!
The craft show I'm talking about is held at the school. It is a townwide thing and anyone is welcome to participate. Yes, it is in November and so far I am keeping up to my one mat a week at least. Hoping as I make some of these swap blocks that I am in that I can use the fabrics left over for these mats. You know - make a block, make a mat too..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds as though you are very well organized Barb..I think having Norm involved would be marvellous, show off his wares...lol..

Barb, dropped into Bernie's this morning to drop of the jeans I shortened, he was deep into hardwood flooring, omg he's done a wonderful job..upper floor of the house which is all open concept is 3/4 done, he looks fabulous..in great spirits..just wish he'd stop smoking though..

Paul's back from vacation, talk about a tan..haven't heard how my boys made out this weekend..will wait until tonight and call...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty that's excellent about Sharon's Best of Breed!! YAY!!!!

I'm tired today and don't have an excuse, let's see here....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sometimes Crissy having quiet time weekends is just as tiring...yes, was excited about best of breed, he didn't go any further though as far as I know...

Lordy, been busy this morning..almost lunch time and haven't touched a craft..lol

Bev, let us know how Scotty is doing please...having trouble with the lily site...

Tubby, how are you doing sweetie..bet Shirley spoilt you on Sunday...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Welcome to my world Betty!! Except I met my goal last Friday and got my desk cleared off, now I don't know what to do I'm so used to being slammed.

I have a question. You bring back food for lunch into the office and someone whose been dieting for a long long time comes over to see what you have. You tell them and ask them if they want a bite, that they turn down, but sometimes take you up on it too. Which is proper etiquette, to offer them a bite even though you know they're on a diet they've been on for years, or to not offer anything at all?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy I'd offer providing you've enough to share, it's up to her if she is on a diet to say 'no thanks'..would make bonus points you offering..lol..

Decided that I'd go to Garden Gallery at lunch time..found a pretty swap item for another spring swap, won't be long I'll have all I need to complete the 2nd spring swap..

Barb, keep looking at your afghan, how are you putting the blocks together, not in rows of 15?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hi Betty
I started lower left corner. When I made the next DIagonal row I sewed it on using that color yarn. Then did next diagonal row and sewed them on with that color. When I get to the center, I will start from the lower right corner and do the same. Then top left and then top right. It breaks everything up for me.. Just playing it be ear at this point!!! Heehee

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just wondered, looks as though it would be difficult to sew together the way you are doing, looks great so guess it's working out..

Giving the floormat a few coats tonight, going to sit and enjoy putting my feet up, am sure it won't be a late night..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm very tired today for some reason. Dave's cooking dinner and it will be off to sofa land for me!

See everyone tomorrow!

Oh!

Best of today, not having a slew of work on my desk for once

Worst of today, having an old 'friend' stuck in my head for 2 days in a row and not sure what to do about it, I guess nothing.

What did I learn??? That some people don't learn.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !!!

You are all so talented! I love looking at the pics ...but it seems all so intimidating...

Maybe "Some Day" I will find a craft that I could be good at... Prob not... that's DH's forte...

But your Treasures are Lovely and I enjoy seeing them all...

Waving to Crissy - Got another cruise planned for this year?

Hugs,
Mary

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

YAY! I found you!!!!

sheesh! it took me forever LOLOL and no I didnt read thru all the threads I missed. Guess I'll just have to start from here :o)

Lots has happened since I last posted...the best part is I have a new babyloc elure sewing machine. I just havent had time to play with all the extra features on it LOL. I also have my own lil crafting area for sewing, building doll houses, general crafts and oil painting!!

hows everyone else been?

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone..

Crissy i know what you mean about things in the head mercy thoughts thoughts.

everyone be well, happiness.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning all
Good coffee is ready for any who would like.
I'm off shopping today. Uncle Sam sent me some $ so now I can go get some needed supplies. JoAnnes has coupons on line for this week. One is 50% off on any one thing. I'm going for batting. That would be a great savings for me. Also an online friend is selling off all her fabrics. She is selling them in lots sorted by type of material (kids, small prints, solids, etc) The smallest piece is at least 1/2 yd up to three and four yards. I could make a lot of runners and mats from that!!!
Off to get dressed for the big city!! Talk soon. Have a great day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Thanks for the coffee Barb.
Anjl, glad to have you back!

Thanks for the coffee Barb, needed it today! -3 but feels so much warmer, roads are slushy, signs that it might snow but all and all a glorious morning..even took the back roads so I could just look at what Mother Nature is up to...

AnnMarie, how are you doing sweetie..you feeling up to par, you must be seeing as you have crafting in your thoughts...been up to the cottage..you must be nearly done and ready to take on spring..how is the family..your elder son still with you and doing well...so many questions, that is what happens when you don``t see an old friend in some time..glad you are back at painting..your doll houses sound marvellous, any photos (keep wanting to put question mark but keyboard keeps giving me the `french é``, if I shut everything down it will be ok, just not ready to do so yet-too gabby`)

Barb, congrats on getting some GMT $$$...you enjoy....got a call from Fabricland last night, on their voice mailing list telling me that Thurs. and Fri. are membership discounts..much at 40% off..going to go back to Bayside Quilting website, see if I can`t order a few of those pattern packages that the quilt is done in one step including machine quilting..hopefully they mail out to Canada, if not I`ll be asking one of you if I can use your address and then have you ship to me.I`d pay shipping cost of course..good luck on the material that your friend has..great way of getting inventory for the runners without costing a fortune..do you use regular batting or the soft and warm

Mary, not intimidating, of course you can do it..you just have to have the time and want to try..tell me something you`d like to try and we`ll see if between us all we can`t help..know you love gardening, what other interest is catching your eye

Crissy, think you`d better call that old friend...perhaps you are needed..

Twyla, have you been sitting with the kids of late or are they now all of school age...hope you`ve also been feeling better...

Sitting here thinking that I`ve several swaps to post, not this weekend but if I can get a few friends together maybe I`ll cross over to Buffalo next Friday night..that 3 tier birdhouse is calling me...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, -3??? Brrr!!!! You make sure you stay warm. Sounds like you will be shopping for fabric this week-end.
Betty, have you heard about the downy quilt project? They will send you enough favric to make the top of a baby quilt for charity, then you provide the batting and backing. Lots of us are making them.

http://www.quiltsforkids.org/patterns/request/

Anjl, it is so nice to see you posting again. Please post pics if you can.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

LK I was just reading about the Downey Challenge in "The Quilter" magazine (the one with Chandra Wilson on the cover) and it says quote "All entries must be received by March 1, 2010" end quote. Did you hear anything about that? I have six people here making quilts and I don't know if I can get them back by then.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Mary, not this year. We were going to rent a condo on Daytona Beach in FL and go to Universal Studio's the last week of April but he lost his job, so that ends that.

You should try it Mary, you'd be surprised at what you can do. I never crafted anything until I met Betty, she's got me doing all kinds of things I didn't think I would be good at, even painting!!

Yea, I don't know about the friend thing, there's a whole big story behind that one, it would be so much easier if Facebook, Myspace, or Twitter was a part of this!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Angl!! Great you're back! You've been missed!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just went back to the site, and I don't see any deadline mentioned.
I just unsunscribed from facebook, I got a nasty virus in my email from them, and then I clicked on cafeworls, and got a trojan worm. Thnak god my anti virus caught it. No more face book for me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

March 1st. that doesn't leave much time now does it..less than 2 weeks..very interesting concept though, might have done one..will go check out the link

I might sign on the odd time to facebook to see what the grandchildren are posting, excellent way of keeping on top of things lol but I'm on MSN most of the time and there here of course...

Linda Kay, was that the problem with your computer? did you have to get another or just have the drive cleaned off..

Crissy, is it something we talked about while on our meeting? You are a smart cookie, am sure you'll figure out the best thing to do...as for Florida, next year for sure!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

G'Morning all, well.... its still morning here LOL!

Linda {{HUGS}} you are an awesome lady!! :oD
I know what you mean about the viruses and FB :( I was sent several in email, but I knew what they were so no biggie, I just deleted them. Then I got hacked! Grrrr, but got that cleared up and still kept loggin in. This past weekend though, I logged in just to send a friend a email, and I got a Trojan virus! bam just like that! I had just loaded the new Nortons 2010 a few days before and Nortons picked up the virus immediately, but it took 2 hours for Nortons to fix and contain the virus :( GRRR. so no more FB for me! I've deleted the games and try not to log in there at all. Funny thing is, my DH Logs in all the time and has no problems at all! Grrrr

Betty {{Hugs}} I sooo missed your crafting posts! and now your doing another floor mat? I havent started my first one yet! LOL! I am physically feeling much better. I did a bout of accupuncture and woke up with a whole new body it seems! Yes, we have completed the cabin, I still have quilts and chair/bench cushions to make for it but we are all done with the construction part :oD
My oldest is at a board & care for now, we are hoping above hope that he stays there! But unfortunately he's an adult which means he gets to make decisions :(

went to look at pix, I dont have many on this computer but here is one of the cabin nook complete with the curtains I slaved over :) My DH made the nook table and bench out of the leftover flooring :oD

Thumbnail by 1AnjL
Victoria Harbour, ON

You and DH are very talented...it looks sooo cozy..from the other photo's you've posted I know just how much work you've done..you must feel so proud of yourselves...curtain color sure compliments the woodwork..your flooring if I remember correctly is all pine as well isn't it?

Let's hope your son decides he likes community living and stays..must be such a worry for you...did he ever get to use the ho hum chicken coup? was too adorable for words..so enjoyed looking at your photo's last year..

How's the grandchildren?

What are you painting in oils? are you into flowers or scenes?

I must purchase Nortons..think at one time it was on the computer..not being knowledgeable, do you only put it on once and that's it or is it something you have to update from time to time because of new worms? you'd think with having a son that is in the business I'd know that..

Almost lunch time..been eating fruit and yoplait, not very hungry..tempted to go to Garden Gallery again today or Michaels..

I've done 2 rows on my afghan while sitting here watching movies..watched the new Chan movie and Loveliest bones (?) that one was a bit different, of course skipped the part where she was murdered..sure speeds up the day...

Know I told you all that Sharon's dog won Best of Breed at Westminster N.Y. show again, she was disappointed he didn't get further...BUT, she's excited, her dog that was impregnated with sperm from her dog that passed on 12 years ago (scientifically frozen I guess) was x-rayed yesterday and either today or tomorrow she'll have 6 new puppies, can't wait for a photo so I can post...

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

yay! for sharons dog! my sisters frined was also showing a dog in that show...but now way was I going to get up at 4am my time to watch it LOL, too warm in my bed!

As for the son, he was going to stay in our detached gym, but never got to do it. He didnt get out of the hospital until August last year, stayed with his dad for a bit, then back to the hospital from sept last year until just a few weeks ago. I think its better that hes in the Board and care, its someone other than mom or dad telling him the rules :o)

grandson is my lil lightening bolt! just a huge flash of energy and smiles and he always brightens my day :o) He's 2 now, so grampa made him a "Rocken hose" (well thats what he calls it! LOL!) for his birthday.

As for nortons, I love it. you do have to re-purchase it every year, but well worth it! and it automatically installs the updates so I dont have to remember to go in and do it all the time LOL

okay off to check my other sites.

((Crissy)) wavin hi back!

ps, in this pix my grandson is taking the rocken hose to hide it cuz all the adults keep riding on it! too cute!!

Just a quick pop in to wave and say hello before I run.

Laura has an awful toothache so we have to make a run to the dentist and see what can bee done.

Cloudy and Cold....nothing like your cold Betty, but quite chilly for us.

Will try to check in when we get home this afternoon.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So far, my computer is running OK. Well the laptop is, not the desk top. I think I just a got a bad hardrrive, so I need to call Dell back, and let them know about it.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty, no we haven't talked about it. I didn't think of this person at all while he was working. I'm very bored with life right now (cabin fever) and every time I get bored I start causing trouble because my brain starts working overtime. I'm also disgusted that every time I try to talk to Dave he turns my small little statement into this big competitive angry debate. He doesn't sleep with me hardly at all anymore, it seems he has no physical attraction to me, then he throws this "I'm going to CA for who knows how long" crap at me and why should I have to deal with it? I'm wanting to do something fun and crazy! Now that the sun's out and he working in the yard building our garden it's a lot better, but it's just too stressful for me. The other day he asked just as a general question, "Why get married if you're not going to have kids?" which upsets me because he knew my disposition about that issue before we even got engaged. Wonder if he was thinking he could change my mind or something, then again I wonder if he thinks at all. Such a man!

LOL!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Sometimes Angl that's what you need, someone else making the rules. Just because he's an adult doesn't mean that there aren't rules, there are rules to everything in life.

I hope Laura's toothache isn't anything serious.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are in a bad place Crissy, with Dave off work, you working and fretting! You both have emotions raging...being bored could get you into trouble 'little one'...there must be some common ground..thought maybe because you hadn't mentioned it in awhile that he wasn't talking about California any more...as for having children, you did discuss it before living together..maybe his manly hormones are acting up..hugs going your way..wish I was around so we could do something 'fun' together..oh you and I could get into mischief..

Trisha, ouch, toothaches have to be right along side of migraines..hope Laura can get to see a dentist..

AnnMarie he's just too cute, 2 years old already..you tell DH he's done a spendid job of the rocking horse..a friend on mine passed away a few years ago, her hubby was in the midst of doing a few rocking horses for the children, couldn't get back at it so guess who have horsie parts in her back shed...if he ever want to do one on actual rockers I could trace the pattern and send it to you...one day, I'll get ambitious and finish them, always a child who would love one...they really are nice, I'll simply stain and varathane..was it you or your hubby that did the art work on the horse?
