Lordy, all the salesclerks are smilling, must have gotten something good for Valentines Day..lol

What are you all up to today??? I'm always telling you guys what I'm doing - b o r i n g...am sure you are tired of hearing of my days..so let's brighten things up, tell me about yours please???

Off for my pancakes and putting on a good old country stew..might even put the breadmaker on...

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

G'morn Betty, and all,

I will be foolin around on this crazy computer for a while, may do a little sewing, and then I have to be at work for 2.

that's my day....

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Stew sounds great for a cold day Betty. May just have to copy you. I played hookey from sewing yesterday and now I need to make up for it. I'll be at the machine for a while and when the Olympics come back on, I'll be crocheting or X-stitching. Or doing hand work to finish projects. I'm bound and determined to put today to good use.
My darling, Norm, made me a delightful breakfast along with a beautiful card and chocolates. He sure does know the way to my heart....
Just found out we may go spend part of the day with his sister. She is a sweetheart too - at least with her I can bring handwork and she is not offended. I'll bring her some yarn to get her hooked on crochet again and she will be happy!!!!
Talk to you all later...XOXOX Barb

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
Me bad.. sorry I've been MIA again. Bad, bad Jaye!

Betty, if you haven't purchased the Simplicity Rotary Cutter, check this review http://ihaveanotion.blogspot.com/2009/08/rotary-cutting-machine-test-results.html

Staying home today, missing church.. still not up to par.

Keep warm everyone.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

We're not working on anything right now, we still have a little snow on the ground from last Sunday's 4" of snow and even though it's sunny and almost 50* it's supposed to drop to 30* later this afternoon and snow again. I'm working on finding where in the world I put my mail I brought in yesterday????? I was walking around the yard with it, have a crocus budding, tulips are breaking ground, daffs are growing like crazy but no buds yet, spring IS coming!! Went out this morning and retraced my steps, no mail anywhere, I've searched the house high and low, no mail anywhere. What in the world did I do with it???

Good Grief Jaye, take it easy and get well GURL!!!! I'm getting worried about you.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Betty, just a lazy Sunday here. Dad and I will go for a ride later this afternoon. Just a short ride today. Brackettville, has an old army post, Fort Clark Springs, and at night time, there are hundreds of deer, that come out to feed.

OMG Jaye, you just had to show me that site..what a fantastic tool..will have to read up and perhaps if they ship to Canada order one..you ARE bad! Still not well, hope you take it easy..takes time..

Well, I said I was hoping to be done the 11 pairs of jeans by noon (including a trip to walmart and Home Depot) and had 3 minutes to spare..so it's break time..clean up my sewing mess and move on the my swap project, trying to decide how to go about the design..according to HOYLE, yesterday was a playday, today a workday and tomorrow a rest day Audrey...going to stick to my plan..lol..

As for the tea cup...got china glue, glued to cup to saucer..then cut out (would depend I guess on how big your cup is, I cut an 8" circle, hand gathered, filled with batting, pulled my gathering and sewed tightly as to not let go..then I put a bead of glue around the inside rim about 1" down from the top, took my pincushion and lightly set inside..added a few pins..tada..quick project..besides, friend Lydia gave me 14 cups/saucers because she didn't want to throw them away, I've no use for them but said I'd come up with something so, a cup pincushion it is...

You have no idea LindaKay how much when travelling the USA that I look for battlefields or little towns to go see which has history galore, much more than we have here in Canada I think...want to take a trip to Pennsylvania just to stop and visit the various historical places..wish I was with you and dad...

Lucky you Crissy to be able to walk around looking at plants that want to bloom, not likely happen here till mid April..

I have Notebook on, lordy wonder why we women without mates sit and watch these love stories..not sure about you but it sure makes me miss my hubby...

Well, rolls are almost ready for the oven so best I check on them, come downstairs and figure out my next step on my swap project..you have to love it when a plan comes together..

Sounds like you are very busy.
Yeah Betty, there is lots of history there. When the film crews were there filming one of the John Wayne movies, he slept at one of the old post, that is now hotel rooms.
I will take my camera, and try to get some shots for you.

I'd love that LindaKay...tks
Sure did enjoy the Alamo when I was in Texas..just surprised and don't know why at all the city surrounding it leaving just old churches and the actual Fort..thought they'd have kept growth away from that particular historical site..

OK here's my thoughts, maybe you can all help me out..has to be somewhat quick though because I must get this floormat done...

because it's a spring swap, I can add yet more 'pretend' greenery and flowers around the matt or I can add a pair of gardening gloves, strowel, seed packs to make it look as they they were just set down..

Need the word spring on it somewhere so could add it to the seed pack saying 'spring seeds'..your thoughts..sometimes plain is better?????

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I like the idea of seed packs and such on there, that would be very nice, although it is beautiful like it is!
Maybe a "welcome spring" sign in the middle, with more of those purple flowers on it?

Once again you have done a wonderful job!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Betty I love the Cup and Saucer Pin Cushions. What a great idea!

Have been busy trying to get a Bicycle Site set up for Bill. Someplace were he and his bike buddies can talk bikes, trade parts and tell tall tales.... Not being a computer whiz I have reached the point where I am going to have to ask Laura to come in and help with getting banners and all the "decorative" stuff put up.

Pooh, there is sunshine at Daytona.....just watching the races until time for the Olympics to start.

I am going to start putting the Afghan together today....I have put it off as long as I can....

Will check back later...have a great afternoon.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty, I like the idea of a simple "Welcome Spring" in the center with a simple vine around it. I'm definitely one of those "less is more" people. I think it is just gorgeous just the way it is!!!!!

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Gosh you ALL are so busy such wonderful lovelies you all are making...

Jaye, hope your better my prayers are with you..

Everyone be well, safe. blessings.

Tomorrow is busy dar.. Dr..

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Got a talking Teddy bear for Valentines Day, along with a VERY romantic card! (He said W*M didn't sell roses anymore! He didn't see them!) The card meant sooo much to me! Hope Emily (GGD) doesn't see it!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Twyla, how nice to see you posting...how have you been feeling dear friend? I often think of your courage, you are such a strong individual...hope that some joy came into your life today..

Audrey, how cute..am so glad you got spoilt today...doesn't always have to be roses does it? You'll have to post a photo, love teddies....

Trisha, sounds as though you are very busy with your project...let's hope Laura can show you how to add the final touches...

Seems we're all so busy this weekend, trying to finish up I'm sure all those inside projects as we know spring is right around the corner...

Barb, know you are sewing, cross stitching and doing crochet all at once..lol..

I spent the afternoon putting 3 rows together, random colors..think I should have found a pattern for color design but oh well, regardless of the placement of color it will be warm...

Played with my matt for awhile, thought I'd leave it till morning when I'm fresh..bit on the tired side tonight..I've basecoated a gardening glove, leaves of a rose and trowel..underneath the trowel will be a seed package that says 'spring' .. if I play at painting tomorrow it should be complete enough to give it finishing coats and get it in the mail by Friday..needs to cure or it will stick together..then another swap done..still yet another spring swap not quite sure how I got into 2 'spring' swaps but I did, that one is looked after thank goodness...

Calling it a night..

Best of the day..accomplishing so much

Worse of the day..missing DH

What did I learn today..not really 'learn' but I sure can make a mess..liked it better when there was a hubby and kids around..always had something to blame for my mess...

Night everyone

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Betty, I agree with LK and Barb. Welcome Spring right smack in the middle, and please don't ask me to proof read, like what you'd done with Liz (RWB)!! Lol!!

Me bad??? No... just like you always helping.. that's what I'm trying to do too.
I've just ordered a Fun & Done tool. Supposed to simplify and glorify quilt-as-you-go. (More like upgrading actually). Don't fuss at me if you like it too... someone else pointed that new invention in the sewing forum!
In case you miss it..

Twyla, you be well too! Nice to see you post.

Just love to see your work Betty! Thank you for showing us!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jaye...you've got me laughing, yes I do remember, had to squeeze in a letter as I recall...

Can't be too difficult to spell 'pring' lol

YOU've just done it Jaye, now after looking at that web site, I want to do that technique...oh boy/oh boy...I'll try a block if it seems to work for me I'll be back to Fabricland next Friday for material...going to access her website in the morning so see what different patterns she offers...want to say Thank You/Thank You, but lordy know you've just given me one more thing to do...hmmmmmm

Victoria Harbour, ON

Did say Judy that I had a few minutes unaccounted for..wondered what I could do to occupy myself during those free minutes and just like a friend Jaye found something..

Now I'm off to dream of quilt making..

Hello To ALL !!!

Comments to previous posts...
Betty - we saw Avatar as a family... DS17 said it was "Pocahontas with Blue People!" LOL !!!!!.........LK - sounds like a good day with Dad....Betty - we have Port Hudson here...they do Civil War re-enactments... THey used to have a computer where you plug in your last name...and it tells you if anyone with the same name fought in the battle...their rank, etc.....Notebook was a Very romantic movie! ...... LK and Crissy....and others in warmer climates... YES - love the "signs" that Spring is coming...

The Beginning of Today: Best/Worst/Learned

Worst: My sad feeling that DH & I had marked this day to 'start' on the backyard. It has been so depressing to see that I don't even look at it lately. (Worst freezes ever this winter). When I first walked out there ...I told DH that I felt like I was walking through a Graveyard....

Best: My sadness turned into MUCH Happiness....as I was cutting away some of the dead stuff... I SAW GREEN! In many many areas...Spiderlilies and Dayliles coming up...Mexican Sage...Firecracker.... Many things I thought were goners...look like they'll be okay. Still the jury is out on the hibiscus... I did NOT cut those back yet...waiting for Spring...

Learned: As you know ...I am a beginner gardener (2 years) but I can't imagine any hobby that I have ever had that has taught me more about Life than gardening. I learned so much today...and I'm starting to begin to believe that I might actually turn out to be a good gardener one day...Some of it turns out to be just good Old common sense!

The end of my day was fabulous... Valentine dinner with DH...presents for him & kids....and him for me...

Happy Valentines day EVERYONE!

Happy FAMILY DAY my Canadian Friends!

HUGS to all,
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

OH Mary, you will be overwhelmed once again come spring at what Mother Nature has done, all your pretties will resurect and once again bring you great joy..I often look at the 4 and 5 feet of snow laying on my gardens, know that some plants will not survive but others will grow in abundance...I've seen photo's of your gardens, it's a garden of "EDEN" and soon it will be again...

Glad you enjoyed your Valentines Day with family..

Thank you for the well wishes for this Family Day..as for my family I'll not be seeing them today..Noah is 3hrs away at hockey hoping to gain yet another win taking them closer to the all Ontario as finalists, Greg is away snowmobiling in Quebec and I don't think he gets back until tomorrow, my brother is with him..mom and Jim going back to the city this morning, Jeff is away on holidays, left yesterday, his boys are in playoffs as well..all enjoying winter activities..for that I'm grateful..not sure where Kyle is, most likely I'll hear from him, my old faithful..lol

I'm up and at it, said this would be my day of rest but working on projects, just enjoying the day is resting for me...

Happy President Day everyone...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Morning Betty. I really like what you are doing on the mat. The rose and trowel will really set things off.
I'm off to the sewing machine today. Hope to post pictures of what I've been doing...Except the towels!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

We'll have to have a sit in Barb, a day we do nothing..how likely do you think that is...yes, working on my matt..should be done by noon then here and there I can give the finishing top coat..need 10 for wear .. only takes minutes so every few hours I can add a coat...

Barb, do you do lots with flannels, bought black had to dye set it in wash 3 times...my pattern says not to wash, for my main materials with the golfing theme that has white/black/green, how likely when they put different colorings is it likely to run? thought later I just might cut out the squares...

Doesn't this gardening glove look ratty/tatty dirty and well used..lol

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty, that glove looks like you have been using it a long time! Wonderful job! Will painting a floor tile, be your next project???

I would wash the black flannel, I would not want to takew the chance of it bleeding on the other colors.

Morning Tubby and Sirley, hope you both enjoyed each other's company yesterday.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Sun's bright here this morning, hope it's the same wherevery you are!

Those gloves look so realistic. Your imaginations are truly awesome! And able to bring them to life?? You're truly a master Betty.
Btw, I sent you something.. hopefully you'll get it this week, if Kel used the right postage!!
And yes, it's to keep you occupied!

So, no sneak peek Barb?? Lol!! You'll be doing something equally wonderful with those towels just like our Judy here!

Tubby.. hi there... Mary... plants are quite forgiving...

Have a wonderful day all!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

heavenscape

Hi there back at you....................

Tubby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg, how exciting is that? A treat for me...

DId you really think I needed something to do, lol..

Went up and made a coffee while painting seed packets dry, saw the wood for Melanie's bench and thought, why not? All tables are covered with projects I flick from one to the other, one table clean so why not mess it up?

So it's dust city here..think I'll be buying myself a dust collector for my birthday..know I get gifts but nothing like buying something extra special for yourself...even had the alarms go off, guess because of the dust...at least it's a good trial to see if they work...

I'll have to give Melanie a call and have her come pick the color she wants for her bench....if I'm lucky she'll just want it stained...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, your not working today? You have presidents day off?
Better watch that dust, so it does not settle on the mat in the background?

Victoria Harbour, ON

No LindaKay, this is our long weekend as well, Family Day..where families get together...when they can!

I'm so enjoying just playing..up early and just realize why I'm hungry..lunch time..

I know, just vacuumed up all the sawdust, light film of dust here and there, not first time though..I'll get the dustmop out once I stop playing..as for the matt, when I'm ready for the coats of urathane I'll take it upstairs, less chance of dust filtering up there..amazing how much mess it makes just cutting down 6 boards..

All our stores are closed today, are yours?

June just called said she was dropping in for a visit, not sure if her DH Alex will be with her, she's finding it difficult starting to not being able to use her hands because of plates in the wrists..

She's cupboards of wool, told her if she wanted to bring some over, I'd set up the knitting machine with a pattern and she could knit..she has a few knitting machines as well but not out so mine's just sitting there..we'll see what her visit brings..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

All stores are open today, but the post office and all federal buildings are closed.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Twyla, "He" is my Sweety, we met about 57 yrs. ago, in high school, fell in love and I had to move away( I was only 14). 50 yrs later we found each other again, and nothing had changed, except we both had married someone else, and divorced. We still felt the same way, and wve've been together for about 6 years, now, he could tell you the exact day and day when we remet!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Audrey, what a beautiful love story...you are indeed a lucky girl to have someone love you such as he does...made me sigh...

June dropped in, was alone and her wrists are really bothering her..she needed info on the cards for the knitting machine and then left...

Been working to beat the dickens, feel it's nightime and it's only 2:30pm .. you can tell who will be in bed early..

Got to call DIL see if she's home yet, need to know how she wants it finished..

it's 15 1/5 inches high by 48" long..easy project..total cost $9.56 - most likely add a few dollars for stain and paint that she'll use..still not bad is it..

Gave it a quick sanding, off for something to drink then back to sanding..
