It is getting hot here almost 90 today . I wish we would get some rain!!
What is blooming now?
Tammy- Love the stone wall setting buit I just flipped over all the daffodils blooming in your Peony Garden.
ditto,
On the stone wall pic, what are the little white flowers in the very front? probably something I can't grow. Absolutely enchanting.
Those are anemone blanda. I was hoping that I could have
those bloom at the same time the small species tulips
were blooming but of course, they are not blooming together.
Its just so hard to get things to bloom together!

Just found this thread...can I "play" too? I don't have any pics to post yet, but I will post them as soon as I take some.
Around here the Daffs and Hyacinths are in bloom. Very locally it's onlly Daffs since the local wildlife eat pretty much everything else.
I'm bound and determined to move my bulbs here from my former gardens tho! I went to buy some galvanized mesh wire fence (square link chicken wire fence) today and they were out of the size I needed to make cages. Tomorrow I'll go to another town and look for it at a bigger store. THEN the Crocus, Daffs, Hyacinths and Tulips will be moved in once the cages are made and holes dug.
Love the colors everyone! Spring is really here!
I read that Dutchman's breeches are native. What conditions do they need? How long to they bloom and how large does the plant get? I'm trying to add more natives the garden.
My hyacinths and daffs are done except the Winstion Churchhill's I bought this year. They were the last to bloom and lived up to expectations. My white bearded iris are just about done blooming, and the dwarf bearded iris have just started. I love this little one, it's called Baltic Blue. If you click on the picture to enlarge, you can see the blue beard.
In the wild, Dutchman's Breeches are found in moist woods near the base of slopes and wooded valleys. Stems (w/ 4 to 10 pantaloons) are up to 10 ' tall. Foliage is fern-like. A small plant from a scaly bulb. A related plant is Dicentra canadensis called 'Squirrel Corn'; thereon, the flowers look more like the garden 'Bleeding Heart'.
Hi everyone, someone suggested I should post some bulb pictures here, but sin I already posted them on the cottage gardening forum, I'll just put a link. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1086842/
You still have snow and you're in 8a, Evelyn? Goodness! So much for global warming! :-)
Yeah...it's supposed to snow again tomorrow as well. "Zones" are only a name...as you must know...people say they live in a certain zone, but the USDA guidelines are GUIDE LINES as many will know...some years we will have a nice cool spring, with no precip at all, since the rain and snows from February, and some years there will be storms until May. Yesterday it was nice...it got a little above 60 degrees, which was rather warm and now it has not got over 55 degrees today, and tomorrow...well, who knows???
Here is a picture of yesterday....wasn't there a song by that name? ~~~~Yes~~ter~~day~~
Love the pink cupped daffs! Bought a few for the first time this year at the end of the season and have them in pots. I know they won't bloom well this year, but I look forward to having pics like yours next year!
I know the song, but remember to also play Scarlett O'Hara when it snows in April... "Tomorrow is another day..." :-)
Love your photos Bea + Evelyn. And Tammy, your stone wall is enchanting.
Talk about more snow! We're receiving another storm front with 12+ inches or more.
Spring is still winter here until mid May. Hopefully I can post some daffodil photos by then. :-) Looking forward to this.
Keep posting photos everyone.
Its a joy to see Spring around the country.

Oh my gosh. I love these pics. I spent some of the day today making bulb cages. I still have to decide where the bulbs are going. I think I need to spend some more time outside daydreaming...
What kind of tree is that? Impressive is an understatement!!
I love the tree picture. I want to know what it is too. The tulips are always nice.
I love the tree photo! Livens up the street beautifully.
Yes, the storm is here and its another doozie.
Keep sending photos everyone! Makes me think about mine possibly blooming in May.
:-)

Unfortunately, I don't know what kind of tree it is; it's situated across the alley from here and I think the property is a rental one.
I posted couple pics on the ID forum - 2 responders think it's Bradford Pear or clone, wikipedia article noted different varieties and at this point I'd agree that its a Callery Pear (Pyrus calleryana), these can grow to 66'.
Sherry what are the two trees in your picture? I can only dream of that kind of beauty!!
