Wonderful mixed planting. Do the one that you have forced return the next year?

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

The forced daffodils are transplanted into the garden and return reliably in subsequent years. I discard forced tulips.
Pic is Jack Snipe, originally forced then set into garden.

jmorth, your 'mixed planting' is surely an antidote to grey spring skies! Can't help but make me smile!

Fun to see what's blooming down south, too. Looks like summer has arrived for those in Dixie!

We have bleeding hearts, hyacinth, daffs, a few tulips, muscaris, pansies/violas (bought in flats and planted out), creeping flox, chartreuse creeping jenny and coral bells (not blooming but for wine colored foliage to go with the 'pink' daffs and Miss Saigon hyacinths, 'on show' in the garden right now.

In a few days I expect clematis and early azaleas. We have a number of shrubs in flower now too, so it looks like a bit of a wedding cake garden out there today. A little bit much, but oh, well. It's good to go 'over the top' once in a while!

We are getting our overwintered pots of elephant ears and honeysuckles out. Also putting up our hummingbird feeders, since they have been sighted in Ohio and other northern states already. Must be the warm weather front. (-:

Tam, your pic of last year's daffs, is what I dream off. I wished I had started w/ mini clumps like you, instead of few Texas-sized clumps. Oh well, the TX thang must be in my blood, lol.

All the Bradfords Pears all along the city streets here are in bloom today. I was out there Saturday and they were no yet open, today they are. Must be all this nice warm weather we are having. I saw Magnolias in bloom around town also. Plus the pink flowering cherry trees are in bloom.

LOL Nery

I started with tulips but the critters ate all but one.
I put in 300 ea fall for 3 years and about 100 last
fall. I finally reached the end of the hill. YEAH!

I can't believe how fast everything is coming into bloom.
Just today, my phlox are coming into bloom. Ah spring!

Is everyone's weather better than ours? My bulbs are buried as of this morning...

Yikes, snow in zone 8 in April? Sure is some strange weather this year.

Tammy in PA, I wanted to say I love your shot and view of the daffodils in the lawn on the hill. That looks so good.

Norfolk, VA(Zone 8a)

Today, Hyacinthoides, although we call them Squill. I thought I had some pink ones too, but they are nowhere to be seen. These set seed easily, and since I've joined here I've started seed-saving, so I will offer them as soon as they're ripe.

Today, split trumpet Daffodills. I love 'em. On the Daffy's foliage is a tree frog, usually they crawl in daylily blooms waiting for a delicious visiting insect meal. Sometimes they stay in the bloom so late I am worried it will close up around them, but they always manage to get out.

Good news...the snow is melting! Maybe tomorrow I will find some more bulbs in bloom...

What a cute little tree frog. I have never seen one in the "wild" before.

Evelyn - glad the snow is melting for you.

My dutch irises have been blooming for a few weeks. The rain had pretty much beaten down the white ranunculus in front.

Evelyn I am sorry you are still under snow but that is a beautiful picture.
Soil nice dutch iris. I have quite a few blooming too.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Nice Dutch Iris. Have been able to get them to bloom in the first year, but only getting foliage in year two. Maybe its just our climate down here.

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Love the Dutch Iris, love the tree frog. Glad that snow is just about melted away.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

marie, tell us your secret to growing sparaxis, pls.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Ok promise not to laugh? Buy them , have them shipped to work and then hide then in a bag until you get home, then go out at night when no one is paying attention to where you
are and dig a hole as fast as you can well at least as fast as you can find a safe place to dig where you will not be digging into other hidden bulbs. Shove the bubls in and quickly cover them before anyone notices you are planting again!!

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Ha! It's like hiding that box with the new shoes in it!! Ya know, I've HAD those, lol!!

The rain last night seems to have really beaten down the daffodils today. At least its back to cooler normal temps for this time of year. The hotter weather was really frying the poor daffodils.
