Here they are (clockwise from top) Callas Picasso, Flame, Super Gem, Red Alert
What is blooming now?
marie, hadn't seen ya in a while. A friend was asking me about sprekelia recently and all that did was remind me that i don't even remember where I planted and obviously have seen no action. Yours is great looking. Is yours potted or inground, if latter, what conditions?
amorecuore, how many years have you grown that reb iris Harvest of Memories? if you can grow it, seems I could also. I have Immortality and pink one, rebloomers. This year they grew exponentially, I was sure I would get blooms, but no...nothing, zilch, nada. I may have to trade them away, they're encrouching on a fave rose and if they're not gonna perform, well...
Hey Voss, I do not have internet at home at the moment , so I have not been on much latley. Notice that is my Hippeaskelia not my sprekelia which has not bloomed at all. I was goig to buy some more from Buried treasure this year but they seem to have gone out of business or at least are not fulfilling orders at the moment.
I had a pretty decent iris season this year considering I murdered quite a few of them by drowning them.
marie, some sources list hippeaskelia as synonym for sprekelia, but u know how some internet facts are not really facts. What???need to look that up about BT. wowzers
I did not know that I was under the impression that they were two different plants well one one was a cross (hippeaskelia)
I had to dispute my order with them and paypal refunded my money. I was really disappointed that they (BT) just seemed to ignore everyone.
Voss, I only have some success with Reblooming Bearded Iris in South Florida and have had no success with the standard, once a year blooming ones. I've lost more this year than I did in 2007, 2008 and 2009 to rhizome rot. I've had "Harvest Of Memories" since the spring of 2009. It didn't bloom until this winter. If my memory is correct it has put up a stem with blooms twice this year. My best three rebloomers, since I started with Iris in 2007, have been "Pink Attraction", "Immortality" and "Clarence". I'm almost 100% sure "Pink Attraction" is the pink one you're referring to.

amorecuore ~ How hardy are these callas? I especially like the 'Cantor'. I usually buy callas but do not dig them up for the winter. i suppose I am wasting my money. Maybe if I get more, someday, I will dig them up.
We had a lot of rain this year and I see that some of my standard German Iris have big buds on them. Especially, 'Immortality', which has not even bloomed for me yet. They are growing in poor clay soil.
I believe they're hardy in Zones 8 and higher. My problem is getting them to bloom after year one. I leave them in the ground. Most of mine will come back after year one, but the majority of them are just producing foliage. I swore I wasn't going to grow them again, but couldn't resist buying some in a co-op and also bought some at Lowes this winter/early spring. Cantor is very cool and there at least 3 more blooms coming on the plant. I also really like "Red Alert" (upper left in the photo). The best performing one I found at Lowes is "Flame".
Sometimes it can take a couple of years for Bearded Iris to establish themselves and bloom. Many consider "Immortality" to be the most reliable rebloomer out there. Hopefully if it starts blooming this spring you will see it bloom again in late summer.
Love the boquet.
Tee hee gotta luv the garden centre that provides flowering cannas for the northerly wild west on demand ^_^
Nice Canna Lily. It looks like Canna "Tropical Rose" to me. Yes, it always cracks me up to see the tropical plants, from down here, sold as annuals up North. Usually see Canna Lilies, garden variety Hibiscus, Mandevilla, Caladium, and a few others.
Nice blooms Marie. How are they holding up in the 110 degree heat? Still more Amaryllis blooms coming here, which is a bit unusual. Usually they're done blooming by early May.
same here too.
Took this photo Tues afternoon of a Zebra Longwing Butterfly (official butterfly of our state) hanging out on my "Picotee Lace Apricot" tuberous Begonia. Somehow 3 or 4 of these butterflies got inside the screening around the pool and have been living inside the screening for about a week now. Seems like there are enough blooms, protection from the elements and collected rainwater to keep them content. At least I hope so.
Wow!
