I'm here!!! I don't have a quote today. I'll go find one...
Thought for the Day Level #6
"If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there."
Lewis Carroll
Good one kwan!
How about this one?
"Our friends are the continuous threads that help hold our lives together."
~Sarah Ban Breathnach~
or more succintly,
"I get by with a little help from my friends."
~John Lennon and Paul McCartney~

I love that last one SW. I forgot all about that. Have a great day. More rain coming our way. I love it.
Very nice!
Well you know I can't resist a good song. : - )
"Friendship cheers like a sunbeam, charms like a good story, inspires like a brave leader, binds like a golden chain, guides like a heavenly vision."
~Newell D. Hillis~
Glad you enjoyed the reminder of a great song WormsLovSharon.
Is there more than one DG member from Las Vegas named Sharon? Or did our Sharon change her user name again?
Thanks kwan. Tag you're it!
WIB!
SW
I think I am the only insane individual in Las Vegas trying to garden. With the ownership change I changed my name. I think my next name will be Medicare Babe.
I have been fighting a lung infection since April 2009. They think I may have it licked. Just a real strange low key infection that lurks and will not go away but partly my fault because I did not slow down.
LOL SW!!!
Okay, how about these...
"Value friendship for what there is in it, not for what can be gotten out of it."
H. Clay Trumbull
"Friendship needs no words, it is solitude delivered from the anguish of loneliness."
Dag Hammarskjold
Double-tag!
kwan,
You're on. LOL!
Remember you asked for it! : - )
For all of my DG friends and family.
"My friend peers in on me with merry
Wise face, and though the sky stays dim,
The very light of day, the very
Sun's self come in with him."
~Algernon Charles Swinburne~
"I see no sunshine but in the face of a friend."
~Alexander Pope~
"It is a sweet thing, friendship--a dear balm;
A happy and auspicious bird of calm
Which rides o'er life's ever-tumultuous ocean."
~Percy Bysshe Shelley~
Just so you all know, and don't worry, DH and I are (surprise!) heading up to Monterey tomorrow for the CA Christmas Tree Convention. I may or may not have computer access, but am planning on being back on Tuesday. (Monday, I am going to insist we come home on the Coast Hwy so I can take photos!)
Thanks for clearing up the mystery Sharon, but I refuse to call you Worms. LOL!
As always my friends,
Walk In Beauty!
SingingWolf
Oh! Nice! Thank you! I'm going to miss you if you aren't on. ;-(
Why would she not be on?????
May not have cpmputer access. I hope it isn't the case.
ROTFLOL
A day without Jules is like a day without sunshine. But's that all good cause we also love rain and the sunshine will come back soon.
Sylvia
Amen, Sylvia...amen.
"Let him think I am more man than I am and I will be so."
Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea
Personally, I always like it when people underestimate me. It gives me the advantage.
Sharon, I loved your squirrel. I ain't going either unless my critters and chocolate are there. : - |
Thanks for the sentiment, Sylvia and kwan. I missed you all too!
The stupid hotel did have ethernet, but I wasn't ever able to connect to the internet. Those folks who did, said it was incredibly slow.
Ready for some more?
"Friendship is a gift, continually giving happiness. It is strong and supportive,
and few things in all the world will ever
compare with the joy that comes from its wonderful bond."

"Life has no pleasur higher or nobler than that of friendship."
~Samuel Johnson~
"Of all the means to insure happiness throughout the whole of life,
by far the most important is the acquisition of friends."

SW, welcome back!
"A friend knows the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails."
Donna Roberts
Loved the picture, Sharon! : - )
Good ones Sylvia and kwan! : 0- )
Here's one that goes waaay back. : - )
Still as true today as when they were written.
"If the while I think on thee, dear friend,
All losses are restored and sorrows end."
~William Shakespeare"
Been out of town for a couple of weeks. OHHHH it's good to be home!!!!
There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.
Welcome back!!!
"I think there's just one kind of folks. Folks."
Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
"The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience."
Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird
Great book. The last time I "read" it (3rd total) was a couple of years ago on cassette. The first half on the way to California from Arizona and the second half on the way back.
Glad your are back, DP. Hope you had a great time visiting your folks. : - )
Good ones kwan. : - )
"For there is no man that imparteth his joys to his friend,
but he joeth the more, and no man that imparteth his
griefs to his friend, but he grieveth the less."

Gee, where is everybody?
Still on the theme of friendship here. Probably because I've made so many friends on this site.
"Now friendship possesses many splendid advantages,
but of course the finest thing of all about it is that it sends a ray of good hope
into the future, and keeps our hearts from faltering or falling by the wayside."
~Cicero~

Okay, one last one, just to get you going!
"Appreciate every moment of every day because in retrospect they will have gone by too fast."
~M. Buchwald~
On that note, have a great day, everyone!

Here I am!
"It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Or this...
"A true friend stabs you in the front."
Oscar Wilde
"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."--Thomas Jefferson
Oh, boy, isn't that true.
For those who know MST3K...
My license plate frame says...
"Crow T. Robot: A thousand years of tyranny."
I'm unfamiliar kwanjin, but it sounds interesting.
One more from Jefferson:
"I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have."
If you like talking back to bad movies, MST3K is great.
It stands for Mystery Science Theater 3,000. The basic idea is that a human and his robot friends are stuck on a ship in space and they are forced to watch actual movies - but they are all B movies (at best) and to keep themselves sane (and us watching) they crack jokes throughout the movie.
Much better at describing it than I could have. My explanations get carried away with themselves sometimes! LOL
And I always talk back to the movies, good and bad.
I like to talk to TV too, which is probably why I was so drawn to MST3K. I'll admit that probably 75% of the jokes and references go way over my head, but that seems to make the ones I do get even funnier . . . it's like Dennis Miller jokes. When you understand one you can feel pretty smug and smart.
Okay, so we don't venture too far off topic, here's a thought from one of my favorite philosophers, Winnie the Pooh:
"Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to know."
I like that one.
Me too! Pooh is quite the philosopher. : - )
I've watched MST3K, many times just to make fun of all the mistakes. We also have a new channel called, get this, "Movies that don't suck!". They usually are pretty good if less known movies. No commentary, but you don't need that when you are watching Bruce Lee rip Chuck Norris' chest hair off in "Enter the Dragon"(?) at least I think that was the movie. They had poor Chuck looking like a gorilla in that one. LOL!
Oh, yeah, thought for the day. How about this one?
"Don't be troubled if the temptation to give advice is irresistible;
the ability to ignore it is universal."
~unknown~
WIB,
SW
LOL Good one.
Found another one!
"Keep in mind that even if you are on the right track,
you'll get run over if you just sit there."
~unknown~ But Apt!

Here's one I like a lot. It's helped me through a lot of sad times.
"When clouds and darkness veil the skies,
And sorrow's blast blows loud and chill,
Friendship shall like a rainbow rise,
And softly whisper -- peace, be still."
~Lucretia Maria Davidson~
