Great quote SW. I have that one framed on my wall along with this one..........

Thought for the Day: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure." (Thomas Jefferson Nov. 13, 1787 in a letter to W.S. Smith)

And just for you Angie (Bookerc1) A little "Deep Thoughts" from Jack Handey

"If a little kid asks you why it's raining, I think it's cute to tell him it's because God is crying. When he asks why God is crying, you tell him it's probably because of something he did."

OH COME ON!!! IT'S A JOKE!!!!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

I love it, DP! God has to have a sense of humor!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I know the Creator has a sense of humor. He sent my ES home from the Air Force on April Fool's Day, didn't he? (Medical Discharge, with the option of trying again in 6 months!)

"Courage is about doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared."

~Eddie Rickenbacker~

He also has his ironic moments. Like the way my power cord to the laptop fried itself the day After the extended warranty was up. : - )

DP, it was a cute joke. Have I taught you the Sweetum's song yet? You'll love it. : - D
Thanks for the new thread.

Good one, DP! I love Jack Handey!

The one about courage is too true, SW. How can it be brave if it isn't scary?

Here's one from a poster in the social studies teacher's room:

A true hero is someone who gets up when he can't.

Can't remember who it is attributed to, though!

Oh, that is a good one!

Two from an email recieved today...

General MacArthur

"Never tell the Platoon Sergeant you have nothing to do."

Good ones! I remember learning never to say I was bored or had nothing to do. I learned quick it meant extra work. Must be a military thing. : - )

From an email my sister sent,

"Life is short. Drink the good wine first"

Oh, boy! Do I ever agree with that one!

A few Russian Proverbs today.

When I can't see the sun for a few days...

"The sun will shine into our yard too."

When I find myself too judgemental...

"Not everyone who has a cowl on is a monk."

And this one just for fun.

"When you meet a man, you judge him by his clothes; when you leave, you judge him by his heart."

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

kwan,
I've been thinking of you. You posted some good ones. I especially like that last one.

"One's dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked, but cannot be taken away unless it is surrendered."
~Michael J. Fox~

(Zone 7a)

Thanks, SW. I rather like that one myself. Have you been well?

Things have been quiet around here. A friend of mine is coming into town tonight to stay for a few days. We're hoping this trip is less...stressful?... than last time. Her mother went into the hospital while my friend was here. My friend turned around to go home but didn't make it in time. Her mother passed away while she was in transit. Then, a week later, her step-father passed away.

This woman is the best friend I have ever had, aside from my DH. She'll be here until Friday.

"A true friend is one soul in two bodies."

kwan, that is rare and special to have a friend like that and you have been blessed with one.

Have a great day. Las Vegas is having rain again.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Kwan, I like it. : - )
I'm fine, taking some time off down at the beach and trying to keep out of trouble. I keep falling or most recently I blew out my knee. Doing what? Gardening. Sigh!
You'll probably get a lot of these in the next few days. I'm reading a Heinlein book, again.
I just realized he wrote one and I don't have it yet. Amazon.com might have it. Hmmm.

From the introduction he wrote in the book, "Time Enough For Love".

"On the Writing of History

History has the relation to truth that theology has to religion--i.e., none to speak of."

~Attributed to the main character in this story who goes mostly by the name of Lazarus Long.~

I am still pondering this one. It's a three parter.

I'm so grateful to have one true friend.

We watched a car auction on TV in Las Vegas during the last rain storm you had. It was really something!

(Zone 7a)

We crossed, SW. Sorry about your knee!!! I love Heinlein.

Me too! : - ) You have Dmail.

Life's Clock
The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just where the hands will stop at late or early hour.
To lose one's wealth is sad indeed; to lose one's health is more; to lose one's soul is such a loss as no man can restore.
The present only is our own, live, love, toil with a will-
Place no faith in "tomorrow" - for the clock may then be still.

I don't know the author, found this card among some extra stationery I had in a box. Just had to share.

You know some of those card writers are pretty good at what they do.

I found this one in the other book I'm reading, and thought it was intriguing.

There seems to be such an abundance of ALL OF THE ABOVE, that it's hard to not stay on guard. Very good one SW.

On a lighter note.........

Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

(Zone 7a)

Wow, you're making me use my brain this morning.

Here's one for SW.

"A friend’s eye is a good looking-glass."
Gaelic proverb

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Good morning all. Finally a few sunny days in a row in store for us here in Southern California. I know all the eastern seaboard folks are groaning right about now hearing me complain about a few days of rain and I get it, but I don't live there for a REASON! Anyway....Happy Day...

Thursday Thought for the Day:

I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet
that on any given Friday or Saturday night
more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Hah! That made me laugh out loud, DP! And I'm not just saying that either. I actually laughed out loud.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Glad you liked it GS. It's important to have a little humor here sometimes too!!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

You know I'm sure I put down some happy thoughts I swiped from my Heinlein book, and they aren't here? Hmm.
Well, I do strange things to electrons, so let's try again.

I hate those commercials, DP. So this first one is for you.
"Always store beer in a dark place.

"Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done, and why. Then do it."

"A generation which ignores history has no past--and no future."

"Small change can often be found under seat cushions."

"It's amazing how much 'mature wisdom' resembles being too tired."

"A motion to adjourn is always in order."

More sometime soon. LOL!

One more....

Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Mackinaw, IL(Zone 5a)

Ah, Pirate, those made me laugh. Thanks for brightening my day!

I need to get on the ball and find some more good ones!

(Zone 7a)

I haven't read one yet that hasn't been a good one. Thank, everyone, for making me smile or think or LOL.

Do not look where you fell, but where you slipped.
African proverb

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Good Morning!!!! Hump Day!!!!

Better than that, it's the day I leave for a trip to see my mom. I may be outa touch for a little while, I'll try to keep up on my sister's dial-up machine. Anyway, hold down the fort while I'm gone....LOL

Wednesday Thought for the Day:

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

one more...

Inside every old person is a young person wondering, 'What the heck happened?'

(Zone 7a)

Oh boy, I've been at boths points! LOL

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Here is one from My Sweet Becca. A child of my heart!

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so......
"Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't"

Have a safe journey DP. Give your Mom a hug from me. We'll try not to break anything while you're gone. : - )
