Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Boy, did this area get slammed with snow. It started Friday at about 10:30am. I got to work at 5:45. The Federal Govt was giving a four hour early release, so the car-pool buddy and I got back on the road at 10:00 and made it halfway back to Leesburg before it started. Was safely in Leesburg by 11:15, went by the grocery store to load up with food, and then headed up the road to Lucketts. Holed up inside until the snow stopped sometime late Saturday afternoon. Easily more than 30". I was prepared with candles, flashlights, water in the tubs, and the woodstove, but luckily never lost power. It is beautiful - haven't had this much snow in ages. More snow this winter than I can remember ever having before. Just made it out to the main road this morning. Can't make it up and down the hill, so I'm just leaving my car at the bottom and walking back and forth. Getting ready to head to my BIL's house to watch the Super Bowl. Will be a pain carrying the food down the hill, but can't have the Super Bowl party without the goodies! I'd love to get a picture of the pond to post, but my camera battery needs to be recharged. Maybe tomorrow... Terri

Maybe the weather trends are flip-flopping. You guys up north usually get all the snow :-) My neighbor friend who heads down to Florida for the winter says even Floriday has been unusually cold. One of the chores I've had to do that I never even considered before is to dig out a path and a poop area for the dogs. The smallest one is so confused with the snow being much deeper than she is tall!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

sunny and cold 25

They are saying we're going to get hit with another foot of snow here.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

86 with 66% humidity on the porch. Feels real nice, especially with the pellet stove acting up again. The guy will be coming to check it out.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Didn't know it was acting up. what's it doing (or not)?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

First, the 'flame guide', which sits above the flame, had become so distorted that the flames were going all over. That messed up the combustion. Now, both the combustion and distribution fans keep going on and off. No matter how high it is set for, the room never gets above 68 or so. Getting three blinks as a warning message. He said he thinks that means a problem with the internal probe. We'll see.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh geez.
The new pellets we got don't burn as hot as the others and I hate the liquid fire starter I'd rather have the ones that look like pellets, I have the worst time trying to start the fire.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Doesn't ignite automatically??

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

No, you have to start it like a real fireplace

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Bummer.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

32*F and climbing, clear blue skies and a dazzling sun. Ric

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Don't look directly at it, Ric!!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

28° and sunny. The snow is coming about noon tomorrow. NW OH is suposed to get hit hardest.

South Hamilton, MA

30° Snow to arrive on Wed. & be perhaps 6". Maybe a little less as we are in the NE corner of MA & they are predicting most snow south of the pike. MA turnpike for translation of prediction.
