Today's Weather in Your Garden - 62

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They are giving large prediction ranges again. CYA!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i HOPE we get buried here!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I'd better hurry up and buy some milk and bread!!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Just came back from the Market, drugstore, post office, Bank and Home Depot to get special light bulbs for my stove. Guess I will be OK for a while. Was surprised how few peple were in the Market.

Talked with my Grandson who lives in PA, they had 3 feet of snow and expect more. Hope we are not getting that much.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Opposite here. Just back from the supermarket. Way more people than normal this this time. You would think we were going to be stuck inside for 10 days!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Does anyone remember the storm of '78? At least I think that was the year. It snowed like mad, by the time people tried to get home they were stuck where ever they landed with the car. It took my Son in Law two hours to get home that usually took 20 minutes.. We had no electricity for days, not water, no heat, no phone.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh ya that was awful. I missed the whole thing because I had gone to work then stayed to do a double because people called in. Usually worked 3-11 at nursing home that is only about three miles away. Stuck there for four days! A tractor trailer flipped over out front so plows could not clear the road. Several people got stranded with us too and they helped out with laundry and meals. No support staff and only five on each floor for over 100 patients. We could see people having fun out in the streets on tv, meeting with neighbors and enjoying the time off from the rat race. I didn't get any sleep for three days when they finally brought some relief in by snow mobile. You get a little nutty without sleep you know. Was never so glad to get home in my life.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

36*F And it begins again! It started snowing about 15-20 mins. ago here. Bill you should take your skis to Victors and start south. You could probably go all the way to Ashville, NC. I got the ashes out and the coal in so I guess we're ready.Ric

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

It's getting really cloudy right now

The storm we just had was the 2nd worst in history in this area the '96 storm still holds the #1 spot '96 was also the worst because it was the whole state.
Then there were bad ones in '78 and '66

Here's the chart for the worst in NYC history
http://www.weather2000.com/NY_Snowstorms.html

Philly top ten snowiest years, I'm still trying to find just the recordings for the individual storms
The ten snowiest years (July through June) from July, 1884 to present at Philadelphia(not up to date for Feb)

Inches Years
1. 65.5 1995-6
2. 55.4 1898-9
3. 54.9 1977-8
4. 49.1 1960-1
5. 46.3 2002-3
6. 44.3 1966-7
7. 43.9 1917-8
8. 43.8 1904-5
9. 41.8 1957-8
10. 40.2 1978-9

Depending on which way the storm is coming we usually get something between Philly and NY

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Hey wha - I heard back from Shelly today. She sounds pretty good. Echoed what you'd said about the computer. Wish I had the wherewithall to get her a new one . . .

Our temps have dipped a bit, but nothing close to what you're having. Reading this thread is making me C-O-L-D . . .

Hang in there. Throw another log on the fire!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Glad your ash is ready, Ric! Can't believe it's already starting.

Jen, I remember '95-'96 very well as that was when we bought the house. I made sure to hold off on the closing until March 15.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

looks like we will have a few inches by morning.. and then in the afternoon we are getting clobbered... I am right on the line 6 - 12 or 12 - 18... could be either or somewhere in the middle

????

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Similar here. 8-12 is the most likely. Blizzard conditions. Do you have to work, Allison?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I am staying home... sick anyway

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm going to try to convince DW to stay home tomorrow, (no easy task), she's heading to Wall St., as long as the market is open she goes into the city, problem is getting back out...

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes and the roads & trains are always a mess

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, the PM commute will be much worse than the AM.

Feel better, Allison!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thank you

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I plan on going in the hot tub with the kids during the storm!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Feel better, Allison.

It's started here about half an hour ago. Here we go kiddies!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wood stove is cranked up.. but boy I could use that hot tub

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

snow started here @ 8am. It's still snowing and will be until 7pm tomorrow. DH in the snow plow til 10pm tonight.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sigh

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Sorry you're sick Allison.
They canceled school for tomorrow. Snow started lightly at about 7:15, coming down like crazy right now.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Snow again today and supposed to continue thru the night. If predictions are accurate, I should have at least 4' by the time it is done. I haven't been to work all week, and the federal govt is closed again tomorrow. Starting to go stir crazy, but am lucky to still have power. The news has been reporting that many people in the area have been without it since Friday night when the first round hit. Terri

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Good luck to all of you again.... So sorry your getting slammed like this!!!!
Hugs to all and prayers.^_^

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Thanks, we're usually the ones offering sympathy. ^_^

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I'm wondering if we're going to get more now since it didn't start out as sleet like they said.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Will be interesting to see what is out there on wake-up.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yeah definitely.
Watching the news about all the people running to the store, it's so funny like we're gonna be stuck in the house for a week or something.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I just got a call we are closed tomorrow.. saved me a sick day

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

There ya go.
We got a good 3" already

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it looked more like freezing rain when it first started.. now looks fluffy... fluffy on top of ice is bad.. I would still say a dusting so far

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We will be passed by with this storm. Predict 3 inches.
We have had really bad ones like Washington got.
This is the old house in January 2004.Snow was waist high.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

31 now... and a high of 31.. about 2 or 3 inches now... more to come

dusting - 2" of snow. The lawns are about bare up here. Not "normal".

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

no that's not normal for you Sherrie

Last year Jim took the snowblower out in the yard so the dogs could have a place to go.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I know I will be shoveling the deck & part of the yard for the yokies later
