Onewish1, the story sounds interesting
What are YOU looking most foward to??
still have some leeks in the garden that we did not get too - i have already started 100 plants and by the third week in august hope to allow some harvesting :) not a day before though.
leeks inside have not sprouted yet - hopefully this week - so far italian basil, hollyhocks, amaranth, and as of this morning hot peppers have started to grow.
ut oh.. I forgot the peppers.. know what I am doing later
peppers are always my problem veggy - need it to be warm to germinate - i only use normal heating pads so i have to check that they do not time out and shut off.
I have great germination w/a heat mat. No timer...just a cheapy.
I would like to pick up a few more heat mats as well.. not yet though .. sigh.. oh well
Had a terrible time with peppers until i bought one.
i use normal fluorescent shop lights as well - everything comes up fine except for peppers:)
do you cover the peppers w/a dome?
i only need 3-4 each of the peppers to germinate and i plant a dozen each so in the end i get what i need. happy to see some breaking the surface though - maybe better luck this year
yes - everything has a dome and stays on until the plants hit the roof:)
I just heard Chickadees singing their mating song.
They call while looking for a nesting place.
I thought I heard the theme from Westside Story
"There's a place for us
somewhere a place for us
Peace and quiet and open air
There's a place somewhere.
Funny huh?
And odd to boot.
LOL, JoAnn
joining in... hold my hand and were half way there... hold my hand and I'll take you there.. somehow... someday... somewhere (love the big endings)
I hear you, too, Allison. ^_^
Looking forward to fresh peas this year.
Where's Maria?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where's dalianut?
LOL got me laughing out loud with that one you two. That song will be stuck in my head now all day! ^_^
It was dahlianut in WSS?!!! I thought it was Maria.
I think D-nut may be busy with the Olympics....I could be wrong.
Competing?
dance marathon i think
ha ha
Getting a pic of that in my head, marathon dancing to "There's a place for us". LOL
I am also looking forward to these little guys returning. http://www.hummingbirds.net/index.html
The new map should be up next week sometime.
Cool - another sure sign!
Thanks Patty I was just mentioning the migratory map to my cousin
I watch that map like a hawk!!!.. can't wait
can you send the link?

thanks
Looking forward to the blooms on the new dwarf iris planted in the fall.
I scaattered Blk Holihocks seed after Louises RU in Sept. Hope to see some.
Thay are so dramatic.
I need to start some new ones from seed and put them in a new place. I had rust on them the last 2 years in the place they are planted, so it's time to move them!
My hocks have always rusted. I havnt a clue as to how to prevent it.
thanks for the reminder not to pull the HH seedlings I put out in the garden last year... hopefully I will have some.. but I don't have that black one.. very cool
joann the spray i used from ortho last year for my t-plants works for all fungicide diseases - i used it on my hh's and did not have rust for the first time in years
ORTHO what?
