What are YOU looking most foward to??

South Hamilton, MA

SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st my eye, then my shoulder and now my freaking hip. Woke up this morning and could hardly walk. Best part, didnt do hardly nothing yesterday. Jim says I am ripping in 1/2.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Yep somewhere in the middle of all the rain they have started up. Peepers were in full chorus this am here as well.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

our peepers have been going almost full bore now for a couple weeks - they are approaching window rattle levels

Thomaston, CT

I've not heard one yet :( The area where I hear them, behind the dam, is flooded right now.

South Hamilton, MA

We haven't heard any, either. Perhaps they just like Bill's pond. 52° at 11 am.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

micro climate here i guess all over the neighborhood they are peeping.

They just barley started here for the 1st time this year.

Hey Bill on Channel 9 New Pepperell made the news where the Nashua River was Cresting.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

yes it is cresting today - prediction was way off only 13.5 ft. not the 15.2 they forecast.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh I've been following the news and all the problems you folks are dealing with, sending prayer for you folks.

Janet

My freaking hip - Good Grief what did I do? or what happened? Pain.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

feel better Sherrie!

South Hamilton, MA

Did you whack it against something? If not, I would have it checked out if possible.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

Peepers are very loud at my inlaws...even heard some while driving this afternoon. FIL said they've been out for the last week. I'm sure the rain made them happy (at least something was happy with that rain!)

Hope your hip feels better soon, Schickenlady!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Song Sparrows have been out since mid Feb here, now the Cardinals are singing up a storm & the woodpeckers are laughing!

Get better soon Sherrie! (...things always happen at the 'wrong time'!) ☺

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

could be bursitis or arthritis.
good luck.

Went to bed, got up and it was there. Today its better but I know its there. I dont like Arthur and hate Brutis. I guess getting old - stinks.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

welcome to my world.
Gardening keeps the "joy balance" going.

South Hamilton, MA

Arthur has hit my hips with a vengeance. Hope yours is temporary.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Arthur is there to stay, once you have it, it doesnt go away.
Catch22 time. In order to lessen the pain you have to keep excersizing and moveing.
If you stop the area becomes more irritated and swollen. I use Motrin before I garden, takes some of the edge off.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Hope your hip feels better Sherrie, unfortunately ge is right, use it or lose it. Catch 22 it is, every time I see my Doc , she says, more exercise. I tell her, I shovel, till, weed, plant, build, mow, and a large share of the house work. So she says, real exercise. LOL My biggest inspiration is thinking of my Grandmother, she was a fine seamstress and cook. Her hands were so crippled by arthritis they looked unusable. She worked into her 70s, housekeeping a Dr's office, she sewed and cooked till she went to rest. I asked her once how she did it, her answer was simple enough, "To go on". Ric

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

sounds like your hip is getting better sherrie - i you remember my arm felt like it was broken a couple weeks ago - just kept doing what i do and i went away in 4 or 5 days - just use it like everyone says

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

More dire news
No replacement until your down to "bone on bone"
After replacement its better than ever, just a few minor limits.
I garden with 2 replacements.

South Hamilton, MA

Can you Kneel?

Thomaston, CT

My repaired hip hurts unless I walk daily...Sherrie, Naproxen helps.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I cant kneel only because my knees are going.
There is a ban on bending over from the waist (risk of joint popping out)
I can flex my knees and hold onto my garden fork for balance.
Planting anything is diffacult because you are essentially bending over to below your toes.I manage but its hard.
Marilyn: What was your hip repair?
Sorry this is drifting off topic.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Ouch! I can't imagine how you all do all the gardening you do with all those serious pains.

I don't kneel, but that is just a habit. I watched a landscaper around 30 years ago teaching a new crew member how to weed and she said she would fire him if she ever saw him or anyone on her crew kneeling while weeding. She was like a machine. So I took it to heart, but it is hard on the back and I have never attained her speed or efficiency. Wonder how her knees, hips and back are today?

I got a new ACL a few years ago which works well. I like to assume that it belonged to a previous gardener. Used body parts are cool.

Out to weed, rake and edge. Lovely day. Patti

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Beautiful here. The Backhouse Martagones are up.

Thomaston, CT

Love martagons! We'll see how the lily beetle treatment goes...already saw several beetles while raking! My hip repair is 3 large screws holding it together....had to give up golf because I can't move well in that direction....doesn't stop my weeding though!

ouch, ouch and ouch.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Is that a beetle ouch, hip ouch or a golf ouch? What order? Patti

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I used to think hip replacement was the same as hip repair.
Not so. They replace the joint where the bone fits into the hip socket.
It was such a blessing to be relieved from arthritis. I am affraid of falling and go into the garden with what ever tools I need for the job, plus a garden fork which I sink as deep as I can and use it to balance while I stand on one leg to shove the spade in.
I bought a small perennial spade this spring and love to use it. I can put all my weight on the handle.Wha suggested it I believe. It sure is better than the longhandled heavier spade.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

At least a week to 10 days ahead of us in DC. Nice to smell the smells, except for a nasty smelling mulch that they were using all over. Must have been mixed with poop.

Thomaston, CT

Ugh! Glad you found a solution, JoAnn.
