Welcome Carolyn!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

OMG!
I just looked out the porch door to the one patch of garden that gets the first sun of the season. There's a mini daffodil sprout about two inches high!!!!!

Poor baby! She's gonna get so cold!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Wow that is amazing!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Victorgardner -

Thank you! So looking forward to warmer weather!

South Hamilton, MA

Warmer weather--never mind the coffee, I don't drink it.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

I am looking forward to being able to get out in the garden and take in lung fulls of fresh country air without it freezing my insides.

I just hope my collection hasnt suffered to much and I havent had too many loses of plants!!!!!!!!

Thomaston, CT

Hi Irid----did the UK suffer this winter? Florida was cold, but I don't think Connecticut had too bad of a January----however, it's been fairly cold since we returned. Candyce, you made me go out to the southside of the garage to see if sprouts were up---no sprouts, but the dianthus looks good-----I am waiting for the first blooms on my Spurrier iris---just can't wait to see them---also some iris reticula I planted in the fall.

Horrible stormm repeat this weekend.
GF going to Balto for business, has to drive.

South Hamilton, MA

Hi Irid. Read about all the tough weather in Britain this winter, including rescuing sheep from snowdrifts in Scotland. Heavy snow protects plants, the danger is ice. My husband has broken open the icy snow on top of the seed boxes outside, put plants themselves should be all right. Not sure about other types of plants which you have, but break apart any ice that you see.

Wally World has seeds today!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'll check them out this weekend. Thanks for the head's up, Sherrie!

Athens, PA

I picked up some seeds yesterday at Wally world....Tall snaps, alyssum and larkspur!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I was there the other day DH stopped to get a watch battery so I went to check out seeds - none yet.

Warners, NY

Told wife I needed to walk inside today, so went to walmart, left her at McDs and snuck off to look at fishing rods, then seeds, ducked out the side door went over to Lowes and looked at seeds there--cogitating on seed starting stuff, coir? peat pots? Some new biodegradable thing out of bamboo with coir pellets,? Heated tray, way to expensive, would feel guilty. When I got back she had bought a new denim handbag to match her denim coat--if I knew where to put it I'd buy that heated seed starter!----------------Weedy

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Ha ha ha You shoulda got it! : ) I am the wife that goes out saying I'm only getting fertilizer and come home with seeds, plants, anything garden really! My dh doesn't always like that! : ) I have to admit to leaving things where he won't see them and sneaking them into the ground or wherever they will blend in as .. oh that old thing! ; )

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I could use some more heat mats too... sigh... maybe next year.. but want to see the bamboo thingie

Thomaston, CT

Yes, sounds interesting! I, too, have to meet the mailperson when the plants start coming in----well, I don't drink, smoke, rent movies, or go to the casinos----splurge on plants!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I had a flock of robins in our front maple tree, sure sign spring is coming.
I took a couple pics and as soon as I get some batteries I'll post them.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah!!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

They should be here in about 2 weeks then.I think I can hold out that long.

Thomaston, CT

Any sign of spring is welcome----even with snow on the ground, the air has a different smell---much more like spring!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its warming up too. Average temps in the 30's instead of the 20's

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

South Hamilton, MA

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I've noticed that spring like smell in the air too. I also think the birdies have more of a spring like sound to their tweeting : )

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

even though the ground is all white.. I noticed that this morning as well

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

The Cardinals are singing their mating calls,Nut hatches and Chickadees too.It gives me hope.

Thomaston, CT

Yes, & the goldfinches are getting gold again---have a herd at the feeder daily---only 1 chickadee this winter----the titmice are taking their territory---like the chicks better!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

My finches are still olive green

South Hamilton, MA

Our finches still doing a boycot. Occasional cardnals & titmice on the suet feeder.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Looking forward to shampooing the rug, inpractical to do when it's freezing outside since I'm constantly emptying out water outside. Even more impractical to leave the windows open so the rug dries...

Edit: Ohh, forgot, would like to wax & buff the car and give it a good cleaning for spring also, lol.

That's on my list, too---2 dirty dogs in the car every day takes a toll.

WARM WEATHER!

Harrison Valley, PA(Zone 5a)

Harvesting wild leeks...I look forward to leek fests! Then planning my flower gardens and just spending time outside.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

ut oh... don't let Bill see you touching the Leeks (kind of inside joke)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am watching a bare patch of crass outside my computer space. Its getting bigger every day. I hope rain for the next few days melts snow so I can walk in the yard and check the gardens.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

would be nice

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Defrosted soil, but not mud. The first day I can actually work in the garden and not just walk the paths and look at what is sprouting, although that helps with my mood a lot specially with hot coffee in hand.
