What's for dinner part 4

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Yummm

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have a pan that has 4 little meatloaf sections in it.. more ends!!!!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I have a splitting headache. Pizza tonight.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sorry Harper... I had one of those coming on yesterday before the snow came

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Thanks Allison. It only occurred to me ten minutes ago that maybe I have this headache because I quit coffee cold turkey two days ago. I've got a cup of caffienated tea steeping next to me in the hopes that it will fix it.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes that will do it... coffee withdrawal can be painful .. I had that problem when my thyroid kicked in.. had to stop drinking all caffeine

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

That hurts! I had to give up caffine about 20 yrs. ago. I remember those headaches. It took about a week to adjust.
Had chicken thighs tonight. DH cooked.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ugh - those headaches are massive.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

a week sounds about right.. love chicken thighs!!!.. Randy was a white meat guy until I started cooking for him

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Should have cut down slowly, Harp.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I know my one co-worker is all or nothing with coffee.. he would drink those extra large cups all day long.. he can't just have one small thing.. like a junkie

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

The tea should help harper. if you get through the first week, your home free..........

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

thanks everyone. The tea did help. I never used to drink coffee until I met DH. Now I like it and am sorry to have to give it up, but it just makes my heart beat strangely. I get flutters all through the night. I wish it wouldn't do that.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I get that too if I drink it too late

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I gave up caffeine awhile ago and started by doing the 50/50, so much easier than going cold turkey. Now I get nuts if I have caffeine.
http://www.mothernature.com/Library/bookshelf/Books/19/41.cfm

Had onion burgers tonight.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I get those symptoms sometimes, Harp, but it's not from caffeine. ^_^

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I wouldn't be complaining if I got it for the reasons you get it Vic!

Maybe I'll go 50/50, then all decaf. I like the ritual of morning coffee. A little caffeine doesn't seem to bother me. It's only when it's a full cup every day. Thanks for the article Jen. I liked it. Bookmarked it for when I think I can go back to coffee, maybe I ought to think twice.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

My DW loves a cup of coffee before bedtime, she says it relaxes her so she can sleep better and I noticed it actually works for her! Go figure... (lol)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wow I'd be up all night.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Me too, I cant do that! I tried, but I tossed and turned all night! lol!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Me too. About 6 or 7 is the latest I can have it.

Mixing is a good idea, Harp.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yup! Goin' out tomorrow morning to buy decaf.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I could drink it at night and still sleep, but I usually only have 2 AM cups and maybe 1 mid day

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Has anyone heard of the new thing they say about coffee and afternoon naps? I found a article about it here http://lifehacker.com/306029/reboot-your-brain-with-a-caffeine-nap

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yeah it says you have to limit your nap to 15 mins! I'd be more tired. I have to do either 1/2 hr, hr and 1/2 or 3 hours, or I'm all screwed up.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I don't think 15 min would be enough for me either. I think I heard of a place that actually offered you a coffee and a bed for this!? I remember them talking about it on the radio. I thought itr was an odd idea. : )

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Starbucks?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

My headache is gone! I had a half cup of Earl Grey tea today because I didn't want to go out for decaf. Did the trick! Now I'll be sloooowwwwly weaning myself off!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Good for you, Harper. I had to wean myself, too. It took about a week and a half for me.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

There ya go, Harper, ease into it.

My fil saw a show awhile ago on a store at a mall that had beds you could take naps in during your lunch hour.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

This is such a foreign concept to me. How do you go to sleep during the day? My DH can nod off anytime anywhere. Amazing.

No coffee? None! Not even one little cup first thing in the am? Oh the horror! Big time kudos to any of you that can do that.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

With all you hear about bed bugs these days I'd be nervous to try that.
I sometimes get headaches from just having less coffee from one day to the next. The only time I ever quit coffee cold turkey was when I was prego the first time. I had a serious case of thinking all food and drinks tasted awful especially anything with caffeine. It stunk, I remember living off pink grapefruits and english muffins for at least a month! For some odd reason pink grapefruits were the only thing that didn't bother me. Every one thought that was strange because they are so acidic.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Oh yeah. I could nap all day. I could sleep away 14 hours a day, no sweat. I wish I had more energy! Coffee always had a strange affect on me. Usually it made me feel shaky and ill, so I'd have to go lay down. Kinda like when you get low blood sugar. So I never drank it. I didn't like the taste anyway. Then DH came along. He'd make espresso every morning and it smelled sooo good. I'd have just a sip. Then a sip turned into a half cup. The half cup had just the right buzz. He'd want me to be happy, so he'd always offer. Eventually, I'd have a full cup. Then I'd have to go lay down. He kept making it every morning and kept offering some to me and I kept getting tempted, forgetting the suffering, lured by the delicious smell... I got in the habit of it. Over and over again, I'd say, I have to quit coffee, and then a month or two later, be back off the wagon. Maybe this time will be it for me!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Espresso is very strong.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

You're telling me! I don't know how DH does it. He drinks a MUG of espresso. Must have a stomach of steel. A few years ago, I switched to regular drip which I'd have off and on. DS could always tell the days I had coffee because I'd be short and irritable with him. He'd say, "Oh no! Look out! Mom had coffee today!"

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No wonder you had problems. I could never drink that all the time.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

No, my problems were from just one cup of regular, american style coffee. DH drinks the molasses thick espresso. It was yummy, but I couldn't handle it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh, okay.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

You and me Harper! I could sleep for a week.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

my wife could sleep for a week too - this may surprise some, i can't lay around long need to get up and out.

i usually have a 2-3 cups of joe in the morning, only time of the day - i can remember flying to Argentina over night and going straight to all day meetings - those little tiny cups of black mud they drink were the only think that kept me going
