Happy Birthday Mrs Rocky
probably leftovers if anything - DH has a dinner meeting, so I have a night off - not really, Wed is usually pizza night anyway
What's for dinner part 4
Randy picked up a rotisserie chicken from the food store for dinner.. nice to have a night off
Those are good!
yes it was.. this one was a lemon pepper
I've never tried one of those rotisserie chickens
they are good.. and pretty cheap
They're really good in my supermarket, Deb. I like the bourbon one. Always moist.
They are only $5 here at Wegmans and there isn't much I don't like from Wegmans but I don't eat dark meat so didn't know what might get wasted.
that's where you need me... I love dark meat
Wow, how interesting. Today is my DH's birthday too. We're staying in. Not sure what I'll make. Chicken something. He might want to cook steak for himself. We'll see how he feels. I'm going to make a lemon poppy seed pound cake. He's not big on birthday cakes, but loves it when I make pound cake.
I'm like you, Deb - white meat for me. It's good since everyone else likes dark.
Happy Birthday to DH, Harp!
Happy Birthday Mr Slow Cooker
I'm a little worried about the lamb and rice. Holly walked in and ask why did it smell like burning rubber! LOL Ric
Must be the smell of the curry. lol
Happy b-day to Mr Harper!
leftovers from last night...
(HB to Sofonisba's Hubby!)
Thanks so much for that Cheeseburger Pie Recipe it looks really easy, I am going to try it soon! : )
I love the Rotissire chickens too, they are so juicy and flavorful. I am not a huge dark meat fan, but I find on those the dark meat is even good. You should have a little taste, you might be surprised.
happy b-day to mr. harper - we will have to compare notes some time:)
You know how fruits and veggies make the healthiest snacks?
Well, in the winter I don't like them for snacks because they make me cold(except bananas, which is a "warm" fruit). What can I snack on that would be an equivalent to their "healthiness"? Am I just weird???
No! you are not weird! (or...we are both weird) I feel exactly the same way. I heat a lot of fruit and veges in the micro--make lots of concoctions with low fat toppings and spices. When I can afford to, I try to avoid (though do use a few) canned/frozen/prepared foods--which eliminates about 2/3 of the grocery store. It's a mine field...
I know what you mean Jen! They need to be stored in the fridge, then washed. Just wetting my hands makes me cold. Brrrr... Then, to eat a cold apple. Double brrr. I usually take the apple out a few hours before I'll eat it. It only helps a little. Broccoli I get to cook. Fewer salads in the winter. Wish I had a solution for ya! When you figure it out, let me know.
DH says thank you to everyone. Sure, Bill. We'll compare notes. The Slow Chef took the night off. I made chicken breasts sauteed in garlic and mushrooms, yukon gold potatoes and broccoli. Lemon, poppy seed pound cake for dessert. He made himself two bloody marys.
We had poor-mans chicken & taters w/gravy last night. It's one of the fastest things I make and the kids complain I never add enough potaotes. LOL
Large electric skillet
Chicken cut up into pieces, any kind will do, bones, no bones, breast, legs, ect...
5-6 med. potatoes peeled - leave whole
3 packets of instant chicken gravy mix. (Cheap dry kind)
Place chicken and taters in electric skillet, add 5-6 cups of water, spices of your choice, cover and cook at 350 for approx. 40 minutes
Turn down heat to 250
The water you placed in w/the chicken may be 1/2 to 3/4 gone....it's OK
Mix in a bowl the 3 packets of dry gravy mix with approx 2- 2/12 cups of water and pour over chicken and gravy. Stir to mix with the juice thats already in the pan, cover and simmer 10-15 minutes more.
Now you have poor-mans chicken, taters and gravy!

Wow - couldn't sleep, Celeste?!!
she could have been up digesting
harper my stomach is upset thinking about the bloodies with that meal?
does he pile up his dirty clothes?
No, I have been having trouble sleeping lately....as you can see. ^_^
I don't get it Bill. What does dirty laundry have to do with it? He does his own laundry that he puts directly into the hamper. When the hamper's full, he washes it. He has a specific number of clothes items so that when the week is done, he washes and is ready to go for the next week. Very simple and organized. Me, I have heaps of laundry on the floor. When I have nothing left to wear, I prefer to go out and buy new underwear just to avoid doing laundry.
As far as the bloody marys go, I'm amazed he hasn't developed an ulcer long ago. His favorite flavors are of the strong, acidic type.
well maybe it is a women's deal - there are multiple piles here and they are not mine:) and when laundry day finally arrives i stay out of the way. i do my own a couple times a week.
i love bloodies - only on sundays - actually caesars with clamato instead of t-juice - he should try it some time
"caesars with clamato"????
same as a bloody mary - instead of tomato juice you use clamato juice with the vodka - they are called caesars - much better in my opinion, not as heavy
Oh my gosh, I just made the most amazing Apple Upside Down Cake. Sooooooo good!!!!
What is a clamato?
What's the recipe Jen?!
Harper........ http://www.clamato.com/en/ it's very good. Meant to add that it's made by Motts.

you can get clamato in the juice aisle - it is a mixture of clam juice and tomato juice (can not taste the clam, at least i can't) it is great - i sometimes make virgin Caesars too, really delicious
Shrimp Linguine w/caesar salad and loaf of french bread.
Chicken from the store. Picked up while shopping.
No recipe from Jen, she must be busy eating cake. ^_^
chopped chicken breast - with sauteed onions and red peppers and re fried beans
Eddie Izzard here - I'll have cake please
I love peppers and onions...love the smell as they are sauting too!
I had some this past weekend and I added some fresh mushrooms, little sausage, scrambled eggs to make an omlet. Ended up topping it off with shredded cheese and fresh tomatoes.
