Wow Crissy, that is a lot for insurance! But it is one of those thiungs we can't live with out. So many have no insurance, and it is a crime, how much they want for it!
Sleep tight everyone!

Raleigh, NC

Good Morning Donna! just wrote a long post - darn! it didn't go through, and now I've got to run.

will post photos and tell about my first trip to quilt shop in 30 years later. gotta go take pills, hop on hotel fitness equipment, figure out if I'm going to any other quilt shops for iris fabric searching, and figure out what I'm going to eat for breakfast - the hotel's breakfast this morning is french toast and sausage - NOT on my diet!

Later - oh, and I'm feeling much much better

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Thanks for the breakfast Donna.
Bon nice to hear your feeling better! Sounds like the meds are working! Hope you find the iris fabric your looking for.
Todd had to work today, and he is not a happy camper. Most of the time they work the week-end, it is voluntary, but for some reason, thay made it mandatory! So he only gets a one day week-end!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

crissy, our blue cross is $250.00 a week. we pay 190 and my husbands company pays the rest

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

This is AR Health, it's probably split 50/50, what's bad is it's just medical and a very slim vision that's almost worthless, it doesn't have Dental with it. I think my biggest problem is I have that BA in IT and I'm sitting there making $12.00 an hour when I could easily be making $30.00 an hour. Dave says there's nothing I can do, we know the State doesn't cover crap when it comes to benefits, but I plan on being there until I'm 60 something, and my boss is doing what he says he's going to do (which is extremely hard to find) so I should just calm down and ride the waves. I just want to sit and cry, then get another job, but Dave insists I stay there, he says it will be worth it in the long run.

Bon I'm so glad you're feeling better! I hate it when posts don't post!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs.
Donna, your Tony's a wise one! That quilt of his will be looking good with his suggestion to incorporate the new fabric. Sorry.. thought it was the same. The book was an old but reliable Fons and Porter. Got good directions there for a newbie.
This town had a funeral for a young volunteer fireman who died of a heart attack, and his sent off was very grand too. There were more than 20 firetrucks from other counties lined up.

Crissy, Dave is right. State jobs have GREAT retirement benefits. But I understand you.. you want your money now!!!

Yah.. uninsured here. Would cost a darn fortune especially with pre-existing conditions. And I didn't get away scott free when I had my bypass. 'They' take your assets into consideration and work out a payment plan after you've satisfied them with some token of sincerity. I'll not get into a great debate on Universal Health care, as I've experienced that in other countries.

Pegi... I'm convinced that dentists LOVE to inflict pain all around!!!!

LK, so sorry Tod has to work. Tell him it's extra money coming in ;)
The box truck re-alignment, brake jobs... replacing a few parts--the assesment given at first was $650..... with labor at $70 an hour.
Then a few "oh this is bad.. got to be replaced" (Kel's not here to give me the details)... phone calls, led to the sum of $1,800.
The dealership is the ONLY one around here with equipments capable of fixing box trucks and they totally took advantage of that!!!! What can one do when that's your bread and butter.

Then these are Kel's options to replace a tooth. In the first place, when Kel had his root canal to place that titanum rod, the tooth kept falling out.. he had to return twice to have it corrected. :( So, how can a titanum rod break??

Implant a tooth and screw it in $3,000
Crown tooth next to it, and hook it to it... $1,600
Partial plate $775
Going toothless $0 but has valued charm!!

And no Maid M.. your jelly beans are not at fault!!

Bonnie, your excitement in doing a lap quilt truly warms my heart! Aren't you amazed at the vast changes in quilting paraphernelia compared to 30 years ago... and imagine... the array of fabric offered?

Hey there Sis Kathy! Will you be cheering Favre or Brees. I hope Michael's for the Saints. I'm thinking of skipping church tomorrow to watch 2 great games :D

Well, I'll be gone for a few. So, be good to yourselves sistahs!
Have a wonderful Saturday!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i love farve, but have to go for the saints i have a good friend that use to play for the saints

g'morning all ^_^

Jaye - what an astronomical cost for teeth!!!
Crissy - I'm glad u have insurance, but geeeeeze what a cost!!!

I'm on the phone with the hospital to see how Alice is........ she's still on an oxygen tube. They were going to get her walking today, but couldn't cuz she's still light-headed. She had a reaction to the pain meds, but they've got her on others. Don't know if she will be out in the week they mentioned, but they're hopeful. They'll pass on the message that I called. She's been walking other days - I just called my BIL and that's what he said.

Have the Robbie Burns dinner tonight and we were there last night peeling veggies and decorating - the hall looks great! Will go back this afternoon to cook the veggies, etc My DH is taking his broad swords for decorating today. Didn't want to take them too early because he doesn't want anyone to get hurt (they're real, and real sharp!) We hang them up out of reach, but y'never know!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Afternoon all, sinus really being bad today but then it is damp and overcast with more rain predicted. Pegi, I can understand about the 4 days of rain!! Gets on your nerves but unfortunately we can't do much about it. Oh well, find a good book and read or quilt.

Not much going on today, want to sew but will have to see how my head feels after the meds "kick" in--soon I hope.

Whee, am I glad the jelly beans didn't do the tooth in Jaye! So what is wrong with a toothless cute smile? Adds charm!!!!

Take care all, back to put my head on the pillow (ah!) and let the meds work then I might be able to do something.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone. Dad and I just got back from doing haiecuts, and a little shopping. Stopped for a root beer float, dads favorite, and then home! I think we are having grilled hot dogs with chili and cheese on top for dinner.
Marion, sorry to hear your not feeling well, hopefully when the rain stops, you will feel better?
Susan, sorry to hear about your Sister feeling dizzy, but some meds do that to a lot of us. Hoping she will feel better soon, then walking, and home!
Kathy, I think We are going for the saints also!
Wow, Jaye, that is some good prices for teeth, and the truck! I hate it when they "get ya" for things like that.
I will be back later

I am so ANGRY right now I could hurt one someone.
Ryan came home this weekend from college to pick up his last paycheck, get a pair of shoes I'd gotten him for his birthday and to get a couple of games he had forgotten.
Well his RA called him this morning to let him know some butthead stole his XBox 360.He had worked... and worked to save to buy it and after 2 weeks in school someone steals it.So he had to leave and go back now so he could file a police report.
Mess with me BUT DON'T MESS WITH MY KID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel so bad for him, wish I could go buy him another one !!

We were going to go see momma tomorrow,so Ryan called her to tell her that he had to go back and why.She cried,he cried........and in turn that made me cry.

Oh Synda, I am so sorry to hear the sad news! I don't blame you for being mad, there are so many bad people out there!
Sending you lots of (((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yep it's ridiculous considering it's for ONE tooth :(

((((((((((((((Susan))))))))))))))) I'm feeling your anxieties about Alice. Thank God for finding ways to keep you busy;) At least Alice will be well looked after for as long as she's in the hospital.
Will Bob be wearing a kilt? Nope, won't ask that question :D And my dear...I hope you take plenty of pictures, especially of the food spread.

Ahh.. back to having fun with your father, LK? You're indeed a blessing to him. Too cold here for ice cream and don't you dare repeat the temp. there!!!
Got some hotdogs out here too. No cheese, but a can of Campbell's chili and some chopped onions!

Hey Marion (getting serious here when I call you Marion). Please look after yourself. Do whatever you need to make yourself feeling better.
Sending you healing hugs!

Synda, that's a bummer!!!! Like LK said, too many kids out there stealing anything they can get their hands on, and most of the time it's tfor drugs. Oh poor Ryan....
Hope the police catch the kid... imagine that.. on campus too...

Well sistahs.. some of you know Jaxtiger right?? She sent me a strange gift and I posted it on the Dishtowel Swap thread..

Raleigh, NC

we're home. spent the whole trip nauseous. and stopped at 3 more quilt fabric stores.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I need some google search help - TONIGHT!
I'm doing the children's story tomorrow morning (I found this out this afternoon....)
and I need a children's colouring page, depicting that we are all the body of Christ.
I've searched all kinds of sites, and can't find anything for little children about it.

Or 1st Corinthians - that would be a good one.
I know what I'm going to say, and the song is "Jesus bids us shine" which goes on the back of the sheet.

btw - someone else was to do the story, and she told the "keeper of the list" she couldn't, last sunday. Guess what? "the keeper" didn't bother to find anyone else, sooooooooo I volunteered, hoping I'd find an appropriate picture, but I can't.

PLEASE HELP ME FIND ONE!

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

sit tight may take a minute or two

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you sooooooo much, Julie, for looking!

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

http://www.kidssundayschool.com/Gradeschool/Topics/Pages/bodyofchrist.php

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Julie - unfortunately the last one wants $36 to enter the site and get anything......... darn.
Trying the other 2 sites

Susan

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

Susan, I am still looking for one....I thought that last one would work but it is a pay site....let me see what I can come up with
usually find what I am looking for so give me a minute

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

http://www.ebibleteacher.com/children/classmat/allarms.htm

Here is one that is rather comical to me but might be a bit disturbing to children until they realize each part of the body is specially designed for the work it does....I will keep looking for now

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Julie - the 1st one is perfect. Thank you so much.
I like it alot, and will put the song on the back of each sheet.

The last one is one I'd found before, but I don't have a credit card and can't access it.

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

ok, I am glad I could help

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hahahaha we cross-posted

I didn't see you had a 4th site, and it's getting so late that I just picked a great one, and didn't look further. I'll try the other 2 sites (2nd of your 1st post, and the last one you just sent).

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

Well when you decide to do this again, here is a link for tons of pages which may help...too late to search through each one now but still plenty for when you need it
http://www.orgsites.com/md/church-crafts-and-activities/_pgg8.php3

Take care

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Julie - like yourself, I usually find what I'm looking for and others come to me for help, but it's been a long day (Robbie Burns dinner tonight, and I've been "go go going" all day, and night.
Well, I've printed the sheets, with the children's hymn on the back, so I'm set to go.
This is what happens when I'm a willing volunteer at the last moment lol

Ain't it wonderful when you ask for help and 'bam' you got it!!! Thank you dear Julie of the night shift in helping Susan.
You could never leave anyone or especially the church in a bind, do you Susan. You're indeed faithful in serving Him.

Been up for a couple of hours. The result of dozing off in the recliner waaaaay before bedtime.
I normally have 5 hours' of sleep. So, guess I'll do a little housework then try to take a nap before church.

Hehehe.. tempted to miss church on account of the games, but then, I can always record them right?

Any early wakers out there?

Coffee is ready.... can of whip cream for any fancy drinkers. Warm buttered croissants (bless the microwave) and slices of sweet navel oranges.

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

Jaye, I found out a long time ago, when I need to keep going, I get to be the co-pilot because I know He flies much better than I do! lol *besides I think I'm on my 3rd guardian angel and she put in for early retirement*

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Julie, thanks so much for helping Susan. Looks like you found several good pages for her!
Jaye, thanks for the breakfast. hope you got your rest for church today!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

AH, is it still morning? Can't tell by looking outside as it is dark and raining--again!! Oh Jaye, now you remind me of Ross--I was always called "Missy" but when he called "Marion" I knew it meant front and center Fast!!! It wasn't very often. LOL

Went out to dinner with son and family last night and had a wonderful time. We decided to try Olive Garden and oh what a delicious meal--gorgonzola steak over pasta!!! Humm, think I might be able to duplicate that.

Susan, hope all is well with your sister. Synda, that is nothing short of horrible--how can others be so ruthless and I do understand about the "mess with me not my kid" part. Right on that limb with you.

Well, need to go work on some blocks for my swap.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Marion, I love Olive garden, is this what you had? It sounds really good!

Have a blessed Sunday everyone many blesswings..

Raleigh, NC

well, good afternoon. Been reading on here for a couple hours! so much news.

everyone is in my prayers, but generically, because my headache/sinus pressure is back, and I've tried twice to post with details hugs for all, and it's too confusing - this old brain does not want to take in details. Suffice to say, asking Him to heal all wounds and broken hearts, send some sunshine, and some peace to all my sistahs and their loved ones.

OK - the post that didn't post described the first quilt shop I went to in Great Falls, VA. no brain to replace details now. It's Jinny Beyer's Studio. Her staff got the full story of our "friendship quilts" and helped calculate backing yardage, which I bought. They helped chose a palette, mostly iris-y colors. I bought fat quarters of what I liked and they wrote down the #s so I could email and order more. But I can't daudle, because the border I liked best is very limited supply. There was one quilt displayed that I liked, they sold me a mag with the pattern inside. Spent a fortune - all Randall's rebate and then some. Asked a zillion questions - this is like doing quilt for 1st time, so much has changed in 30 years.

Remember Jaye - I'm doing duvet cover, not lap quilt.

Raleigh, NC

no photo of hotel duvet- deep kalki gold color in dark room didn't show the tone on tone fabric well. it had rounded corners, a covered cord edge all around, and was totally pouffy. hidden zipper for washing - that was what got me jazzed.

2nd fabric store was really interesting, and they had quilt cotton section, but didn't see anything there and wasn't convinced the quality was there. BUT, they did have a custom make zippers in notions. I had them make 120" zipper for my duvet.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi all..........

Well the cops have Ry's XBox 360 Elite. The one roommate took it,the one that had told his RA that stuff was missing.Dumb kid !!!!!!! Now he will get kicked out of the dorms, school, and have theft charges on him. That's a great education......

Raleigh, NC

synda, he's so lucky to get his stuff back! Please remind him that anything of value, that others might covet or sell, is likely to walk away at college. Anything he values must be hidden from sight or locked up, though locks can be picked or cut. Folks don't realize that college dorms are one step below a boarding house for security - it's NOT like living at home. So, if he can't live without it, and can't afford to replace it, "it" should stay back home. The only exception is his laptop, needed for school. His important projects should be backed up on CDs that are put somewhere other than the laptop carry bag. Laptop theft is a thriving business on campus, as is the sale of stolen property. Our young adults haven't the savvy to suspect goods are stolen. If someone hits them with a sappy story, like "hey man, I don't have money for books, gotta sell my stuff," they see that as reasonable.

I worked 3 years on NCSU campus. Almost every college student is a victim of theft freshman year. Most are victimized again at least once before they graduate. The best learn REAL FAST not to be so trusting. hidden security cameras for dorm rooms are in high demand.

Raleigh, NC

sorry - I'm not thinking clear - that came off sounding judgemental and demanding. just trying to give you something you can copy and email him.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda Kay, I think you asked about Lisa. She's doing pretty good, she gets to work two days a week and she has her disability, too.
I had no idea it was pine trees causing this sinus mess! There are two on one side of my apt. building! I had such a great day Fri., and BOOM! that night all %&*# broke loose again! It's like a raging river out of my sinuses and down my throat! The Vicks helps some, but just wont take care of it like I need. It keeps waking me up, coughing, and I don't get enough rest!

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm going to get him a good footlocker that he can put stuff in and lock up.Ryan is so much calmer than his mom.I wanted to go punch faces,Ry is just so laid back.

The XBox 360 Elite has serial numbers and Ryan had all those wrote down and they have the RA ,he's really nice and security cameras.
