Hi everyone! Sorry it's taken this long to get on here today, my mom and Lynn are driving back home the next few days, I don't know if they're taking Hwy 81 down to I-40 or if they're going to take I-70 to I-35 and down. The 3rd day is always the worse for my mom, and when she gets herself all worked up on the negative she knows she's going to have to deal with I can't tell if she feels better or not. Hopefully tonight she'll be in better spirits.

Susan I hope that's whats going on with your sis as well.

See ya'll later!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, hope she has a safe trip.

Raleigh, NC

Greetings from McLean VA, right outside our nation's capitol.

Audrey, try: humidifier, netti pot, saline nausal sprays or breathing steam to rinse the sinuses clear. Mine are the opposite. some post nausal drip, but mostly drier than dry (despite above) and inflamed - doc said inside nose is beet red. Am on daily allegra for allergies, so this time of year I frequently get the dry sinus infection. The above work on too much mucus to rinse away, on dry irritation to soothe.

Am queasy and nauseous, but on my feet with the antibiotics for the moment. Brought Jaye's quilt fabric with me. Tomorrow I go fabric shopping, or to Nat Art Museum. today he has the car at his office and I rest myself in this very very nice suite: kitchen, sitting room, two closets, two TVs, and a nice big king bed with a delicious array of pillows and a high rise comforter/feather bed. Going to go around the corner, think there's a Walgreens there, buy some bubble bath and jump in with a good book! LOL

Randall gave me a prepaid VISA card we got as a rebate from a new phone to buy fabric with.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

'Fraid to tell you this Audrey... when Spring sprung.. the pine trees are in action and allergies reign once more here.
Don't know how bad mountain cedars are LK, but the pollen from the pine literally bury your sinuses!!!

Crissy, at least for now, Lynn will be your mum's sounding board! :D
We have faith in you girl! If you can handle Dave, you'd certainly know how to put the positive back into your mum ;)

That's it Twyla!! Your cheeriness is infectious!!!
When I do need chicken, I will buy the ones already roasted. The raw ones cost just as much as a whole roast chicken here!

Now Bonnie, show us what fabric you got. The bluish-green will be hard to find as LK said, but that's where your creativity comes in!

Talking of art museum.... I forgot that Kel and I have a date tonight at an art show. It will be held on campus grounds.
Don't want to go out in this weather, but redneck county here rarely have art exhibitions. Hmmm... maybe there'll be a boiled peanut vendor there :D

LK, it's gonna cost Kel half of his dream truck to get his mouth fixed!!!!
The titanum rod is beyond repair.... Kel looks so cute with a missing side tooth, when he's smiling!

Gonna get ready and tend to the babies. I'll see you all when I return.

Oh yah.. got good news!! One of our nieces just found happiness!!
Wish her the best ;)

Oh, I read about the bad news, just hope Dave stays right where he is now.

There is some money $1,099.50 in the state's controller office waiting to be claimed that was wages from work my son did. He is deceased so I want to claim it, well I discovered what I have to go through to try and get it. Almost have to prove I was born and I am the mother. If it is over $1,000 I have to have the claim notorized. Got a letter from a lawyer who said he would file the claim for 10%. No way am I going that route. This is to much for my cluttered brain. It took 5 years to get the money into California and have them put it on their web site.

Wel, got that off my mind. DH came in this afternoon and asked if I knew anyone in N.C. Of course, it has to be from Jaye. The material is just beautiful, first thing I said is I wish my mom was here. Her mind was always creating, even in her sleep.
Now I have to learn how to be creative. Can't think straight in this damp weather. Have had enough rain for a while. I really don't have to worry about flooding here, really bad where the big fires were during the summer.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Samigal - my mother is going thru the same thing with the state of California. This would be for her deceased husband. There are three different amounts from different sources . . . she did all the needed paperwork, notary, etc., then was told it would be 180 days. She found out last month that she had to share the amounts with his ex-wife and 2 kids, as well.

I got my package from Jaye in N.C. today, too!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm glad they're keeping a role for Dave in the "new" DG, but wish I knew what that role would be..........
It's weird eh? You birth a baby (Dave & DG), watch it grow and flourish, invite someone to help it grow (Step parent) then that "someone" sells the baby and you "might" get to help it........... in "some" way
Strange analogy, but that's how I see it........

Susan

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

The 3 women art exhibition was awesome according to Kel.
I slept in the truck while he enjoyed himself. The pain killer I took drugged me.
But was fully awake for a good steak later :D

Happy to return to at least some semblance of 'normalcy' here. Looks like Dave might still be at the helm.. or maybe retained as special consultant to the new owners? Since the formula worked for the present DG, why change it? Especially when it generates so much profit from purchased memberships and advertising.

Pegi, it's a relief to know that you won't be flooded out!
Good luck on obtaining the full claim.

Nichole, I'm glad you got the fabric as well. I think Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks #62 will be the perfect pattern to showcase the flowers ;)

I still have a few more to send out. If you haven't got yours by this weekend, please be patient!!!
Susan, yours might take the whole of next week!
Geeeeeeeeeez.... thank God there's no deadline!!! :D

Waving to Trisha..... Synda...Crissy, yes, you three.... still got some more fabric.. care to try???

Eyes are tired.. so I'll bid you all good night.

whew - was sure good to hear the "new" news about Dave staying with DAVE'S garden LOL
and Michael (with InternetBrands) sounds nice, friendly and agreeable. I'm sure Dave will enjoy working with the new owners.

Jaye - whenever the lap quilt fabric comes is fine with me - gives me a chance to get the other things I'm doing done lol

Love you, Sistahs!!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Jaye - I had cut the pieces to make a #62 last week, but the pieces wouldn't match up with the corner bits . . . I will try again with extra material before I cut into what you sent! I was thinking #92 would be good, too . . . maybe switch the dark/light colors around.

As for my neighbors, here is how it went after the girls went home . . . their mother finished with the police at about 1:30am. I carried the younger one back to their apartment (since she was sleeping). The girls did not go to school on Friday. After I got home from school (had lunch with son), I knocked on their door. The girls said that the baby was ok, but not home yet. Their mother came over a few hours later to return a blanket. She said the boyfriend had taken the baby all the way to Austin. She also said he wouldn't bring the baby back if she was going to leave him. She told him that she'd stay and work it out, and he said he'd bring the baby back on Saturday. I told her that if she wanted me to, I would call the police when he got back, so he wouldn't see her do it. Now, I don't know how it went, but I went out on Saturday afternoon, and when I got back, there were two police cars in my parking spaces. About an hour or so later, we were leaving to go get husband from work, and the woman came out and we started talking. Yes, the baby was ok. Child Protective Services had already been involved (guess the police started in with them Thursday night). There was an email from one of the people the guy had stayed with in Austin that CPS had gotten hold of . . . said the baby showed up cold and wet. Anyway, the police were there to hold the guy outside while her and the girls packed some bags. Get this . . . they were going tho stay with his ex-wife for a few days, until her father got there on Monday! He did get there on Monday with a trailer, and they emptied out the apartment . . . I don't know how much she took, but there wasn't alot of furniture there to begin with. I know she stayed somewhere in town, because she said the girls were going to transfer to a different school in the district . . . that's about it for that soap opera.

Morning everyone! Coffee is on!
Wow, sure hope the neighbors get it all straightened out?
Jaye, what pattern are you talking about? Is it online somewhere? Please share?
Looks like it will be another beautiful day here!

LK - we are referring to the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks magazine . . . I bought mine at Joann's a few weeks ago.

Ah, OK, wish I had a place to get one. I will check wal mart, when I go this week-end.
Thanks

Morning Ladies,
Jaye, I too am safe from the mudslides. I am about a 8-10 hour drive. But I'm not that far from the Sierra's where that huge wreck was on I-80 involving several big rigs and about 20 cars. It is now snowing there and they are concerned about avalances happening. It is raining here, will stop for a little while today and Saturday then going to start up again late Sunday afternoon. Well the drainage ditch I dug back in Sept is working very well, lol.

I will be seeing Rocky again tonight and staying the night. Now don't get any ideas. We are just friends that enjoy each others company. We are going to the gym Saturday morning and working out together, then spending the day wandering the streets of Old Sacramento.

Jaye remember that piece of fabric you sent me with the butterflies it is orange and blue??? I found this pattern and though it would make a pretty summer dress.

It sounds like everything will be ok here on DG. I personally can't do anything about anything so I'm not going to worry about it.

My mom was in better spirits last night, but I got mad at them lol. They took I-81 to I-40. She called when they were almost to Bristol, TN yesterday afternoon wanting to know what the weather was like. I looked and told her there wasn't anything happening yet, but it's very unstable there and bad weather was expected later. Around 4:45 I looked at the weather again and there were all kinds of tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings between Knoxville, TN and Nashville, TN all around I-40. I advised her that since they were in Knoxville they stop for the night because they really shouldn't be out driving in that. She said ok and hung up, but later she called me and said that they decided to drive through it and I was wrong about the weather. If a tornado hit right where the were driving at least they would be in the car. I got mad and told her that being in a building is a lot better and safer than being in a car if the odd chances were against them and they got hit. They drove to the middle of it, then stopped for the night in Crossville, TN after 12 hours of driving. I don't understand why they would put themselves in harms way like that, and to tell me that I'm wrong about the weather that I'm looking at online is just insane. I guess I can't worry about it.

Anyway, got to get to work, I'll see ya'll later!

Well Crissy I am glad to hear they are okay. I sure wouldn't want to have been driving around yesterday in the weather we were having---torrential rains.

Cindy so glad you are safe from them. i love your dress pattern wow.

everyone be well, have a blessed week end..

Oh hush LK!!!! It is 39 here.

Raleigh, NC

YOOOOWHOOOOOO~~ my quilt is starting!

ok, am feeling better, though tummy is still queasy at times. much pain relief from sinus infection. no bubble bath - bathtub drain will not close. On the hotel bed is a marvelous shade on shade heathered gold duvet cover and feather bed, very rich looking. yesterday I examined how it is crafted and got very jazzed. very easy to do. Randall took me on a "date night" to J. Gilbert's, where I told the waiter about my diet. he recommended a lovely less expensive wine, and a fancy thick tuna steak. Much to my horror, it was served split open to display the cooked tuna outside with a medium rare (that's warm to hot but still beet red) inside. huge plate California style - i.e., all presentation, but a tiny bit of food. Tuna was atop 2 tiny yukon gold potatos quartered and seared, and some perfectly cooked narrow stalked aspargus, with a foyeu (sp?) sauce barely dizzled decoratively, and cracked pepper sprinkled on.

after 3.5 hours online yesterday afternoon researching VA quilt shops, I made it to the closest one, in Great Falls, VA (6 miles) to the first quilt shop.

gotta go - Randall says now

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the patterns. They look really pretty.
Bon, we got you hooked on sewing! ^_^ Way to go. Post pictures of the duvet, and the fabric you got, when you can?
Where is everyone today?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

We're back!!!
Geeez... the GM dealer certainly profits from repairs to the box truck today. They told us the truck would be ready this morning, but when we got there, they told us there were more 'problems' to be found. Couldn't go home as the dealer's out of town.
So.. we spent some hours at a Cracker Barrel, a bookstore, a quilting store, a clay art gallery and a Thomas Kinkade gallery until they called us to pick up the truck. You would think I'd be laden down with shopping bags right?
Uh-uh... it was only Kel that treated himself to a beautiful piece of pottery. All that time, I wasn't feeling too good to shop :(

Tomorrow!!! Tomorrow!!!! Maid M.. I'm wishing for clear blue skies for you tomorrow!! ;)

Crissy, as long as they are safe :D Sometimes we can't question why people act a certain way, ESPECIALLY, when they are related to us!!!
(Chime in here, Maid M :D)
~~We just hope we'll use more common sense when confronted with the same situation!!!!

Thanks Nichole for the 'briefs' on your ex-neighbours' family drama. Thank God the baby's safe. Too many babies are sacrificed lately just to feed the egos of demented parents..

LK, if I had known you'd like a copy.. I would have got you one at the bookstore! You'd be inspired by so many ideas when you get the mag.
I was aghast when I left mine behind at the oncology center, and almost bought another, until Maid M surprised me with one!!

Cindy, I like the pattern. Was that a Robert Kaufman material that I sent you? CRS here :D

Twyla, would you like to try your hand at sewing something with the fabric??

Bonnie.. show us what you got!!

Now that I've checked on y'all... I'm off feeding Hambone and the furbabies. Poor babies, they haven't ate since 10 this morning!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, I don't know which is worse, the dentist fee's or the mechanic fees! Both are outrageous!
I can't believe you came home empty handed. You must be really feeling bad! Is it time for you to go to the Dr.?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Ah bright 75 sunny degrees here today also!! Sunday another front moves in the area so I guess I best make the most of the next day.

LK, I love Quiltmaker magazine--I stop whatever I am doing when mine arrive and read it cover to cover. Wait a couple of days and read it again--love the thing!! I am sure you will enjoy the magazine you ordered very much. Boy am I glad Jaye left hers or she would be reading one with each eye. LOL

Crissy, yes we get attached to people here and worry about all including Moms et al. Just very happy your Mom and Step Dad are okay.

Well ladies it is time to go watch another installment of Monarch of the Glenn--it is so funny and good.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Evening Ladies.. I know Ive been MIA yet again :(

Jaye I got my package from you today.. The fabric is beautiful and the flames are not an exact match but Tony was thrilled.. He asys it will look cool if we spread it out with the other flames :) The book I havent gotten into yet but did lance through it..

Max has been put on Mandatory saturday night shft on top of his regular shift as of this morning so we have been sorting out a few messes. He has been having child support taken out of his check from both Florida and Ohio ntil this week... Ugghh he just finally fell asleep alittle while ago after being up since yesterday at 3 and he has to work tonight..

We had a huge funeral precession today for a fallen firefighter so the shop was dead but never have I been prouder than my hometown than today. Therewas at least 50 fire trucks from all over the state and at least 300 cars.. The town was almost completely shut down and they closed off a major intersection to drap huge flags from the tops of the ladder trucks fully extended.. This man was with the dpeartment for a long time and had an anuism while fighting a fire to save a family right on my side of town.. The streets were lined with people holding flags to pay their respects.. I met the man only once but have to say e was a hero and it teared my eyes to see the outpouring of support from our town..

Mms surgery went well. They got teh screw out without having to move her kneecap which was a great thing. The doctor said the scare tissue wasnt bad considering everything she has been through. She calle dme around 5 to let me know she was okay other than alittle nausia (she always has that reaction from anesthia).. She so stubborn though she said shes planning to go back to work on tuesday. And she wonders where I get it from.. HA

Well Iknow I promised to catch up but I need to get some aundry in before I head to bed and set the alarm to get Max up so he can go to work.. I just dont think I can keep my eyes open until then.. Have to work tomorrow but will try to stop in after that.. Depends on the weather~ There is a pow wow at the fairgrounds and if nice eough I wante dto take the kids and let Max snooze some more..

I had to make cookies with kids as promised.. Anyone want one? Dont mind all the other goodies ~ I got them in a swap ..

Spent a couple of hours reading the thread about Dave and the sale of this website to another company. I don't like change, my entire body doesn't adjust to it well. Still raining here, and causing more problems for lots of people. I went out in back to see how wet everything got, it's a mess but can do nothing about it. I can see the weeds growing in front of my eyes. Four days of straight rain is just about enough. Sun came out for a while and I had hope that meant no more rain, but then more showers came. I remember when I lived in Minnesota we would call them sun showers. The only thing I can say about no rain here during the summer is that you can plan an outting and don't have to worry about rain ruining it.

I think dentist and mechanic fees run close together. I go in on Wednesday to have my permanent tooth put it. Really hurts to have to write a check for them hurting me!

Wll, time to find something to fix for supper. Since I am not organized how could I plan a menu for each night of the week! That has to go along with organizing your life. Went for a few groceries today, between rain storms, so I can't use the excuse that I have no food in the house.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thank you Jaye, I needed that comment you gave.

Ya'll want to talk about fees! I got some fees for ya! LOL Not funny at all, makes me wonder why I'm working. My paychecks are usually $770 biweekly. Now that I have to get me and Dave on my health insurance through the state because of his layoff my paychecks dropped to $550 biweekly. Makes me sick. Dave's insurance for Blue Cross PPO cost him $87.00 biweekly through Hawker Beechcraft. Mine is $100.00 more and I make half of what he made, well, less than that now. Makes me wanna cry.

Bon that sounds like 5 star very tasty and way too expensive for what you get California style. Shoot you can go wine tasting in CA and get a 5 course dinner with 5 different wines for $50.00, Argetto's in Santa Cruz and also on the Monterey Bay Wharf, Jlore in San Jose, and some others that I can't think of. Just don't go to Napa, go to Santa Cruz/San Jose/Monterey and get the same wines for half the cost LOL

Thank you Maid M! A gal's got to vent somewhere I guess, glad they're safe also, they should almost be home.

Donna I'm glad your mom's surgery went well. My mom collects scar tissue like she needs to share it with others.

Time for me to get off of this, so I'll hopefully see ya'll tomorrow. We're supposed to have scattered thunderstorms all day tomorrow from like 9am to 8pm or some odd something. Some of those could be severe too. NICE!
