These are the one i have
Aprhrodite
Diane
Jelena
Padilla
Sunburst
Wisley Supreme
no favorites yet - although diane, jelena, and wisley supreme seem to get the best reviews. remember i got diane at the end of the season last year and it did bloom this past spring - all the others were from this past spring - all have flower buds except one
What have you ordered 2010 #2.
I also have Wisley Supreme.
Jelena is budding now. Its a stick planted this summer.
Witch Hazel is a def on my list.
mine should bloom anytime now.DD said hers bloomed in Feb.
Very pretty colors! Will it actually flower? It's supposed to go back to daytime temps in the 20's by Saturday...sigh
The flowers look like orange peal strings no petals like a common petaled tree bloom like dogwood or apple blossoms.
Yes, Jelena and Diane are possibilities. I had Jelene years ago but she did not survive multiple moves. It was very nice. FW has some really cool new ones, including a light purple one.
I have 2 Wesleys ,the supreme and another variety Wesley something.
I like Danny too.
I am looking at a (relatively) new, red-leafed Cornus kousa.
will have to look that one up victor - just found out that greers will not have the cherokee sunset dogwood this year - not happy as i purchased a gift certificate at xmass for my wife specifically for that tree from one of the owners after making sure they would have it - she was the one that responded to my email yesterday - reminded her of our conversation and asked her what i was supposed to tell my wife - no response
Bummer.
i'll call wildwood today to order one although pricing is almost double - and now have a $100 to spend at greer's - and have no clue what to get maybe some conifers
Just placed my FW order. Danny witch hazel and the rest are conifers.
Danny looks nice.
finished going through catalogs last night - roots & rhizomes had some nice pictures, will not order there though - i listed 14 different hosta that interested me, mason hollow has 9 of them maybe more once they update their site - looking for donations:)
wait make that 13 already have one of them:)
I hope next year the area where we had trees removed will be ready to put in a few shrubs and pretty trees. I am taking notes from you two.
Meanwhile, I have put in the last three orders for this year. I'm afraid I did get a little crazy this year, but these are small orders to top off the early larger ones. Next year trees and shrubs.
From WFF:
echinacea "Flame Thrower'
sib. iris 'Blue Moon'
oriental poppy 'Orange Glow'
campanula 'Bernice'
sib. iris 'Double Standards'
Second order from Bluestone:
aquilegea 'Black Barlow'
Aquilegea 'Lime Sorbet'
Delphinium 'Dark Blue'
Geranium Biokovo
Astilbe 'Ostrich Plume'
Brent and Becky's Bulbs:
Tritteleia-laxa 'Queen Fabiola'
Zantedeschia 'Selina'
Zantedeschia 'Mint Julep'
Zantedeschia 'Mango'
So that's it for this year. I am going to be shaking my head when these all show up on the door step this spring and wonder where am I going to stuff these in, but what fun it will be to figure it all out.
know how you feel - at least with perennials it is easier to find them homes - nice list - will have to see what Zantedeschia is - never heard of it:)
Great choices Pat! I have the Echi 'Flame Thrower"....if it survived.
me too on the flame thrower:) found the calla lillies pat - pots or in the ground? and will you take them out and store them over the winter?
Okay the calla lilies are going in pots so I can bring them in easily, but the pots are being buried in a fountain turned birdbath and mostly filled with soil and rocks. It is going in the new extension of the yellow/orange and blue/purple bed which has itself been extended. I have not told DH this yet however. My motto kill more grass! Flame Thrower will be in there too with other orange echies. It all looks wonderful in my head, but will get adjusted as I go.
And I forgot one order to Silver Star for clems:
Rooguchi
Etoile Violette
Avante Garde, I have one of these already and want to put another on other side of trellis. Okay that's it.
Love Rooguchi. Etoile is nice too.
rooguchi is on my list this year - i will contact debbie if local nursery does not have it.
The conifers in my FW order were three cryptomeria and two dwarf pines.
the golden promise looks nice - is that one of them?
Yes! Also Sekkan Sugi (planted one last year too) and Gyokuryu. The pines are Thunderhead and Snow pine.
good choice - we usually do not have the same taste in conifers:)
room for the sekkan sugi? not big on pines although the Pinus mugo 'Ophir' - Golden Mugo Pine looked nice
I like pines. Did not used to. They usually have to look 'different'.
Just used my Bluestone coupon
on
White button mums 'Baby's Tears'
Red clem 'Rebecca'
and a ground cover sedum 'Red Carpet'
Nice selections Jen. Specially like that red sedum. Are you using it on a walkway or at the edge of a bed or as a ground cover in general? Those discount coupons do make it difficult to resist don't they, mine already has been used too.
I'm putting that sedum in the sidewalk strip along the road.
Oh nice, it sounds like a perfect plant for that spot, good choice.
I gotta do the Rosy Dawn order soon!!
Me too, thanks for the reminder, especially since I'll be away this weekend.
Just got Oakes daylilies catalog...I'm in trouble!!!
o-oh. That means mine will arrive tonight or tomorrow. Not looking. I already caved and added another echinacea 'Summer Sun'. Doomed may sum it up.
Welcome, BB! Sorry you missed our NH Roundup last September! There will be others in the area, and we'd love to have you come!
Those are great lists of flowers coming to a location near you!!! Can't wait to see all the posts of the flourishing beauties!!!
finally ordered from McClure & Zimmerman: 3 jack in the pulpit & 6 arum.
Ugh - going through the Rosy Dawn catalog! Many good one, but also, many ones that are similar or repetitious.
There's a coleus called Peter Wonder. Hee hee! Wonder how big it gets!
