What have you ordered 2010 #2.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

JoAnn, did you order the 2 pink astilbe and the lilies? If so, where? Thanks.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm ordering them Deb. I get the astilbes wholesale from Walters, so there should be quite a few places carrying them.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I got Sprite from Bluestone.last year.

Allison - great job on the baby geraniums!!! I appreciate very much your willingness to send me some coleus cuttings. I don't think cuttings would have time to get big enough by the time we have to return. I'm going to have to look here for some biggo plants to fill in the gaps. Thank you so much for your generous offer though! I would love some cuttings when we get back up to NH, if you are still willing then!

JoAnn - those are spectacular collages. I love your combos of colors!!! Like Debilu, I'm hoping to expand my astilbes this year. They and the hardy geraniums are my current fav perennials for my gardens because of the sun/shade mix I have. Bill, that's a great list of geraniums!! Can't wait to see some photos from everyone of these great orders!!

Polly - how great to be able to get some wholesale plants! Very cool!! Looking forward to your photos too!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Love astilbes!! Want to add more.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Maybe someone will do a good Classified Ad or a Co-op for Astilbes. Wouldn't that be cool???

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

A co-op for astilbes would be great.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

you got it Louise... I will do some extra cuttings for you

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am so sorry about your weather Louise.
Thanks for the combo remarks. Its the activity that keeps me sane at this time of year, almost a primal need.

Added two things to the GC order. 'Gallery Blue' lupin and gentiana 'True Blue'. http://www.gardencrossings.com/plant/Gentiana__True%20Blue They charge when they ship so everything else is paid for by the time theirs is sent, spreads the cost out over several months. They keep letting you add to an existing order which is good and bad all at the same time. Their order is complete now.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Those gentians have such a lovely blue color.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Pat, that was just mean......you know how I love blue!!! Noticed you didn't put the link to the other one!!!!!! LOL You owed me for the Faraway Flowers links huh? ^_^

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

LOL Well I got enabled into more lupins so thought I could give a helping hand back to you all. I have one gentian here already but it is a shorter one and does not set seed or get much larger, so I saw this beauty and could not resist it. This is the one I have now. They really are blue.

Gorgeous. I don't have any, so I will have to try one.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I have one and it's very, very short, compact, ground cover type but I can't remeber the name.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Incredible blue

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Love the true blues.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks so much, Allison!!!

JoAnn - I can't really complain about the weather in good conscience, especially with all my buddies slogging around in the cold and torrential rain. What nerve I have!! ....shhhh....it was 86 this afternoon, but it was nice by the time we walked around 5ish.

Pat - I LOVE that gentian, and if it reseeds, that's a real bonus! What a great color! I've really got to start a wish list.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

It has been in the 50 's all night and will drop back to the 20's in a few days.
Its hard to believe its January ,although not for long.Feb starts in a week and you know how close that is to March.Feb is short anyway so it doesnt really count. I guess anyone could almost say its spring.Yippppee

Although I am new to this particular forum,I have been a member of DG for a little over 2 years while parusing the web in search of plants in mid winter, not knowing what do with myself. It all stared with a sizable order for cannas for the patio and this last fall I ripped out poor performing graveyard roses, all brambles and minimal flowers,so I could find space for lilies from the Snow Creek order placed in early December Hoping to get some more interest in my gardens I ordered,Sumatra,Netty's Pride,Nappa Valley,My Precious,Acapulco,Dot Com and Millesimo. Then my eye caught the Caladium4less classified ad and ordered from there.I am lucky enough to garden in the weekend at a property on a lake in Northern NH and the sloping driveway has 7 rectangular plant boxes, from shade to semi shade .I has always been a challenge to have those boxes look decent in the summer ,especially dealing with plant height and the slope. So for caladiums I ordered;Florida Elise,Florida Fantasy,Grey gGhost,Gingerland,Pink Beauty,Pink Illusion and Marie Moir, that was my January bill. The last plants I hope to order are from RD coleus before the end of the month and I hope that will be enough for awhile till mid May when planting time really starts here.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh I hope it does set seed Louise. I also like the height of it so I really hope it survives and multiplies here.

Welcome nymegen. You sound as ill with the fever as the rest of us. Nice selection of plants and I am looking forward to hearing more about your gardens.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

welcome nymegen.
We are huddled here against the cold
Telling stories of plant triumpths and failures, just waiting for March.

Windham, ME(Zone 5a)

I think it would make an interesting thread if we would discuss our failures,we could all learn from that.I know I have certainly had my failures. My favorite cure for the miserable weather is to go to a greenhouse and just smell !,I am not sure if I can wait till March ! Thank you all for the welcome .BB

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Welcome nymegan....your going to fit right in!! LOl
"My favorite cure for the miserable weather is to go to a greenhouse and just smell "
I do the same thing!!!! Just about the 1st of Feb. I can stand it no longer and venture out into the cold in search of that fresh tilled dirt smell!!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Since we are having a January thaw ,I have been moving planters to new spots and creating a garden plan for the Woodswalk Garden.

Oh lots of fun JoAnn. I can't believe that I still have snow here after all the warmer temps lately. This rain and balmy 50s should get rid of what is left. Just to see some green grass like you have there would be helpful. Looks like your plan is coming together JoAnn. Looking good!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Some of them might be moved further down the path. Its raining and they are heavy so I didnt want to haul them around.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i do not think the rain and warm weather here will melt everything away

looks like spring to me there joann

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Alas I checked the longrange forecast and there are 2 major stormes in Feb.
I mean over 12 inches

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh well you just knew we could not escape the wrath of Feb. Good thing the Olympics are on then to take our minds off of the winter outside the door
