Thanks for the joke, and a new room Betty.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I wonder what it would be should I find silver dollars?????? That was a cute one.
Must post a copy of a note I sent to another quilter. Oh my -------

I'm afraid my heart blocks won't be going out for a week or so . I don't know what is going on with me but I'm staying away from the sewing room for a couple of days at least.
Yesterday I went to cut blocks from a strip of material for a Block of the Month club I'm in and I cut them too narrow!!!
This morning, I went to cut some pieces from a template and forgot to add the seam allowance so they are all too small!!!
Then I made a chair pocket holder and forgot to put the batting inside!!!!
So I figure someone is telling me I need to take a break---so I am.
I'll get back to it in a few days and see what happens. My husband Norm has such a puzzled look because he knows this is not me. Oh Well!!!!
I do think this is the wise thing to do as I have several large projects in the works and don't want to mess those up.
Guess I'll get a good book or two.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Been there done that Barb..worse part is when you've only so much of one pattern material and you screw it up..maybe give it today and start tomorrow morning first thing...I should have been doing Jan/Feb blocks instead of cleaning yesterday, me bad, but I wasn't in the mood and lordy knows what I'd have ended up with.. maybe the narrow pieces can be used for yet another block..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thank heaven all my swap blocks are done and in Janice's hands. I must have known last fall something was going to happen and I did them early. Going to settle down with my hot chocolate with a touch of Baileys and relax!!!!
I still like my armchair holder. Will get a picture soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

They are so quick to do Barb, won't take you but minutes to do another...but for not, enjoy the hot chocolate and a titch of Bailey's...

To Be 6 Again...

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching his wife, who waslooking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her birthday.

'I'd like to be six again', she replied, still looking in the mirror .

On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the screaming Roller Coaster, everything there was.

Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down. He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed
exhausted.

He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like being six again?'

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed.

'I meant my dress size, you silly old man!!!!'

The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL..bursting out laughing...thanks LindaKay we needed that..bet Tubby's having a chuckle..

Left for Michael's, picked up a few things, didn't linger, one could get into trouble..looks like we're in for some snow, wasn't snowing when I left but is coming down heavily right now...

Anxious to get home to see if Mark got the floor down...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Be careful driving....What did Michael's have to offer?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well, needed off white wool and they have the skeins 2 for $6.00 and then have a nice organizer with handles and sections for $4.99...Christmas 80-90% off..I could almost stock their shelves so walked away from that area..looked at Valentines Day decorations..can't tell you what I bought..swap item...not the place for me to be..saving my $$$ for next renovation project hoping to schedule by end of month..lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Great bargains. Are you still thinking of the tub????

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, but will have to wait until spring to see if the area I want it is feasible and of course $$$$..only so much I can save in the piggy bank!!!
Couldn't afford the one with all the bells/whistles like Greg and Melanie have..just a simple tub..

When I lived on the lake I had one put in my basement, nice but not the greatest for the windows and drywall..all that humidity so outside is much more practical..usually after winter they have great sales...soooo will keep an eye open..

Got my next row of grannie squaresfor done, will sew them together and attach to the 3 rows I have ..so right on target..don't you love it when a plan comes together...

Liz, meant to ask you, do you think it's a good idea for the in-laws to sell and move into condo or smaller house? would it be closer to you? please say NO!!! lol

What a beautiful job. My last job before I retired was working for a flooring company and I learned so much about what is good and what isn't. From what I can see, he did a wonderful job. It really looks nice Betty.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, the floor looks really nice. I don't know whats in the muffin tin, but it looks good too!
Betty, if your having chest pains, I do hope you called the Dr. to go to the ER? Please take care?

lol betty, yes they talked about moving down here
gawd that means i loose all my independance! we would be having to go for dinner almost every night just like before when they lived here.
i hope it is still up where they live but they just might deal with the house and stay put.
honestly i dont think they know what they want to do.

oh i know what i was going to ask, what was the square measurements you did for the rag quilt i wrote it some where but i cant remember if it was 6or 8 inch got to go hope you feel better.

Lyndonville, NY

Has been a long day... and I may just go for the straight Bailey's! But it was a great day...Laura Got The Job!!!!! Just has to go through training and they pay $10 per hour while in training.

Betty the floors look great!

It is always a great day when I get on and see that Tubby is posting!!!

Just have the brim left to do on my first wide brim hat. Will be interesting to see how it turns out!

~~~Waving to all~~~
Have a good night.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning...how fantastic for Laura, Trisha..bet you are all on cloud nine..what kind of work will she be training for? You've reason to celebrate, go have that Bailey's..
They were just saying on the news yesterday how many more jobs are anticipated in the building sector and understand GM will be opening a few of their plants..let's hope things are turning around..praise the Lord for that...
Anxious to see your hat, is it for you and what in what color?
Was it an easy pattern? so many questions..lol
You are overdoing Debbie..not something you should be doing..hope the weather is co-operating..did you get some of that ice/snow yesterday? will wait for your update..
Dawn, your next up for a job..praying it comes quickly...did you do anything special for your birthday?
Liz, I used 8" squares..you can you any measurement, of course if you make them 6" you'll need more ..baby quilt I did 4"...as for the inlaws, don't encourage them to move....lol
Bet Kenny can't wait to return to his job and cut his hours..no fun doing a job you don't like..
LindaKay, in the muffin tin is fruit wax..actually made them into candles..for display only..you know me, I hate to burn real candles..all the ones in the house are 'flameless'..not sure why LindaKay the chest pains come back, did take it easy, infact so easy I layed down and fell asleep...
Barb, thanks..yes he did a wonderful job..called him and told him so..said when I replace the livingroom and hall I'll call..some of you may remember when I had the back deck roof cave in (which ended up a blessing), smashed the back door, spring thaw cam in the house, anyway, they paid me to replace all the flooring because it was all top level but I put the funds toward new peaked roof and at same time I splurged and had all new siding and decks put on..in some areas the flooring shifted, no one else notices but I do..so perhaps before winter I'll get it done..
Tubby, how did you spend the night? Hope you managed to get at least your 5 hrs. and more would be better...hi to Shirley...
Roadside garbage day today so best get all those bags out..
Talk later
Well at least you were able to fall back asleep..let's hope you get a few more hours in this morning...are you in pain?
Just watched the ambulance leave the house across the street, after it left Michelle told me they though my neighbour 'Buddy' had a stroke..let's hope they get him to the hospital in time to get meds so he'll not be left with any after effects..
Morning everyone! Betty, sending prayers for your neighbor! Keep us posted please?
Morning Tubby, It is really nice to see you posting more and more each day. That means you are gaining your strength back little by little.
Betty, did I see roosters on your counter also. They are very pretty! How are your chest pains this morning? Hope they are gone, but you still need to tell your Dr. what is going on.
Ames, NE(Zone 5b)
Victoria Harbour, ON
Got the what for from Suzanne this morning..she told me I didn't look well...when I said the pains weren't bad enough to get me to the hospital she asked if the 'when' is when I'm laying dead on the floor... so had to promise next time to at least call the hospital or Dr.'s office..maybe it's just hearburn..change in diet and all...
When I lived at the farm LindaKay my entire decor was chicken related..these few must have snuck into this house...
Off to crochet..need to keep on target or Suzanne won't have a pretty on her birthday.
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Betty how are you feeling now? Much better I hope. You can't just let things like chest pain go - especially when there is so much that can be done for heart care now. We DO worry about you.
Trish, I was so happy to hear that Laura got the job. I think this will be a big boost for her. And it's wonderful that she will be working from home.
I can't wait to see your hat. Does the brim need to be stiffened in any way?
Great to see you posting more Tubby. Can almost see you gaining strength. Is there a reason for not sleeping?
Judy, sounds like you will have your hands full for a while. Norm had knee surgery a while back and he played it to the hilt. "Can you get this, can you get that?" My sympathy ran out about day two!!!! His recovery was rapid after that!!!
LK how is the hip doing? Those shots must be really working.
Debbie, hope things quiet down for you soon.
Off to do laundry, Have a great afternoon everyone......
Just thought I'd let you know, Ben (62) passed away this morning...was so looking forward to his retirement..
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Oh Betty, I am so sorry to hear the sad news! Sending thoughts and prayers to the family!
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Please extend my sympathies and prayers for strength and peace. I'm so sorry for your friend...
Victoria Harbour, ON
Thank you both..thought it was unusual that they weren't rushing, no sirens etc.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Betty were you close to the family? He was not very old at all! Only 62.
(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)
Betty so sorry about your neighbor.
Laura will be doing telephone work scheduling appointments for an insurance company. She is good on the phone...we did phone work for the Department of Agriculture at one point and she was one of the best they had.
Last night she broke out in a bad rash and we ended up spending from ten until after two am at the ER....they wanted to make sure it wasn't a reaction to her new medications... I haven't heard from them this morning so evidently all is well.
The hat was an experiment...I didn't have the correct yarn...with what I used the size came out a bit large for me, but I thing by the time it is washed it should be perfect for my son's girlfriend. The combination of two yarns makes it quite thick and stiff, with the addition of a slip stitched edging to finish the brim it seems to hold up quite well. Plan on trying one in the next few days with the appropriate yarn and see what happens..... After crocheting for almost four hours straight at the hospital last night the hands are a bit stiff and creaky today.
Tubby that seems to be the way I sleep most of the time....sleep a few hours, wake up for a bit...back to sleep for a few hours..... not a very restful way to sleep is it?
Well I really need to get something done around here today...and I think I am destined to start spin classes again tonight:(
Betty do get checked, chest pains are not to be taken lightly...
Victoria Harbour, ON
Just neighbour type friendly, grandaughters often came over to play by the pond and swing..we'd chat..not so much with his wife because she worked midnights and slept all day..he loved to joke, if anyone knew anything about neighbours lol it was Buddy who did...we'd say, 'and they say women gossip'..
Lyndonville, NY
Betty, sorry to hear of your neighbors passing.....so sad.
Now you know, if you have any spare chickens around...you can send them to me! LOL I have my two special "Loretta Lynn" chickens on my windowsill...LOL
Along with numerous others around the house.
Shannon made it downstairs today, watching a movie. Yesterday the surgeon said she is healing very well.....and can start applying LIGHT weight to it. So, that is good.
However, Carrie went to her foot appointment....and she requires surgery. Set for Feb. 4th. They said it should be a minimal invasive repair.....so praying for that.
Thursday....I take Jeanna for her colonoscopy....and as I said, will know more then.
I am in need of a nap.....
Betty, get your behind on the phone....maybe your ear too....and call!
Debbie
