۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞179

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good day ladies.
Prayers were midway interrupted when one of my furbabies decided to flex some claws!
Time for that baby to be snipped!!

Sis Kathy!!! I got the box!!! You're truly a witch!!! I'll post picture there in a few.. LOVE YOU!!!!

Thank you Susan for that call. You're a blessing and a number one balm!!! Love you!!!

Thank you for double breakfast spread LK and Nichole. If I'm not going anywhere today, that will be my replenishing station! Don't have to cook.

LK, I'm sure you're moving very gingerly. Feel for you sister. Try not to do too much. Ah.. once you got your fabric, you can spend time online looking for blenders, complements or contrasts ;) That will take hours for me!!

Nichole, I have a fridge semi- full of seeds too :( Will have to sort them as I'm pretty sure most aren't viable.
Your box will go out next week, thank goodness no deadline, eh?

Cindy, please announce on you GTRRandSwap thread for the RW&B Swap which will start in May. That should read 3rd Annual Red, White and Blue swap. Thanks Cindy.
Your box too will be out next week.

Barb, I am pretty sure there are plenty in your stash that you can use with the fabric!! Lolol.. but good excuse to find more! Don't forget it's cold outside!!!!

Amen Synda!! Now continue on that telephone line to give thanks to Him. He'll continue to do wonders for us.

Thank you Julie. Your words are so inspirational. We just have to be reminded to trust Him and let Him do His best for us.

Bonnie, a duvet's fine!!
Most quilting stores sell their fabrics here @9.99 per yard. Quilt stores fabric are expensive, because the manufactures each retain well known fabric designers, and on top of that, the cotton fiber is of a better quality than the ones sold elsewhere.
But, WM do carry VIP fabrics, which are comparable. I've purchased them and am lucky they hold up to standard.
Then there are griege goods (Textile Mills tests) end up in WM (We only have WM here.. no Hancock's or Joann's) as flat folds which may or may not be on bolts. Sometimes the griege goods are perfectly fine, sometimes they shrink (after washing).
Sometimes the colors run too.
I will stay away from them even though it meant saving $$, still I won't take the risk of spending hours for the finished product to be of sub-par quality.
My advice is, being there's NO deadline, save the extra $$ for something that will last a long time. Or catch some online sales.

Pegi.. are you game to try your hand at quilt-making or fabric art :D

Perhaps Maid M and Barb can add some suggestions here when it comes to fabric selection.

Donna???? Are you okay???? Still hybernating?

Judy must still be busy with her projects! Take time to breathe please.... say ommmm and stay away from the machine every 30 minutes!!!!!

Crissy, hope this weekend you'll find somewhere inexpensive to treat yourself and Dave.

Kimmy... have you started packing?

Hmmm... Maid M.. Kathy... let's move to Pegi's!! I can't take the 30's here!!!

Later!!!

SIS KATHY, I'M SENDING YOU THE FABRIC....... YOU'RE IN!!!!

Raleigh, NC

randall says we're going now to store - so I googled and Michael's (craft store) had this on thier site

E-6000® comes in a 3.7 oz tube or carded 2.0 oz tube with applicator nozzle that contains thick, permanent bonding adhesive. It’s a tough, flexible and highly versatile rubber based compound that exhibits exceptional adhesive, contact adhesive and sealant qualities. It’s washer and dryer safe.

COMMONLY USED SURFACE-TO-SURFACE APPLICATIONS ARE:

Glass / Rhinestone
Clay Pottery / Rocks / Sea Shells
Beads / Fabric
Ceramic / Wood
Glass / Metal
DIRECTIONS & TIPS FOR USING E-6000®:

Apply E-6000® directly to each surface to be bonded.
Allow E-6000® to partially cure 10 minutes before bringing surfaces together.
Note: E-6000® hardens by solvent evaporation and forms an immediate bond that is difficult to reposition after both adhesive coated surfaces are placed in contact with each other and sufficient pressure is exerted to establish full contact.

SPECIAL TIPS: To extend life of product, be sure cap is secured back to original position. Use a toothpick as a disposable applicator for very small applications such as beading. Remove, recap and allow plastic nozzle to dry. Remove dried product from nozzle by pulling out through threaded end and reuse nozzle.

TEMPERATURE RECOMMENDATIONS/LIMITATIONS: Performs best when applied at 70 to 85 degrees F. When fully cured, product can withstand temperatures between –40 and 150 degrees F.

GAP FILLING ABILITY: Up to ¼-inch

CLEAN UP & REMOVAL RECOMMENDATIONS: Uncured E-6000® can be cleaned by using small amounts of solvents such as Acetone, Tolulene or Naphtha. Cured E-6000® requires scraping or cutting away product with sharp knife and use of mineral spirits (i.e. gasoline, lighter fluid, lacquer thinner) to soften product.

CAUTION ADVISORIES OR SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS: Use E-6000® in a well ventilated area. E-6000® may damage finished surfaces. Avoid prolonged contact until E-6000® is completely dry. Do not dry clean. Always test material samples prior to use on an original project where reversibility is important

Jaye, count me in for the lap quilt, too! I'm about to get in the sewing mood! I still have flannel for my rag quilts, I'm going to make my GGD a small one.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am so ready to move to Pegi's Jaye!!! At least the sun is bright today but it is very deceiving when you go outside----bitter cold. For some reason I feel better when the sun is shinning so brightly. If the paper if to be believed this is to continue until Wednesday!!! Arrrgh.

I definitely try to hit sales for my quilting fabrics--then again I see something that no matter what it cost I must have it. I want my time and energy to hold up so for my quilts so I don't really "chintz" on the cost. That is my one extremely bad vice!!!! It is sheer pleasure to me to work with nice fabrics.

I am being included with all the seed, etc. catalogs--I have never seen so many this year!! I sure had a surprise from one of the company's I have ordered from--Gardener's Supply--they sent me a years free subscription to Martha Stewart Living as a "thank you" at Christmas. Never had this happen before--I read then share with my DIL..

The last of the applications are being stuffed into the envelopes today so atleast that is going to be behind me now. Next step is to get copied of the ones that are missing so I can work on the information for the program. Time is flying way to fast for me at this point. I want to stop this and go back to my other activities like chatting here, sewing and walking around my yard and planning for next year.

Jacksonville, FL

Good morning ladies!!! I have lots of hot chocolate ready so help yourselves. Hope everyone is staying warm!!! I have had a problem with my central Heat/ac since Wed and have been trying to survive inside in 47-59 degree weather. They finally got it fixed---it was the run capacitor. I am now in thawing out stage...We have been having hard freezes for the last week or so and have another week of hard freeze ahead of us. Monday will be 16 then 20-22 most of the week. I have alot of plant damage both inside the GH and the covered plants outside as well. I have never experience a winter in Florida like this since I moved here in 1971. I have to brave the biitter cold and go to the grocery store--mainly for food for the furbaby!!! He has some left but I don't want to run out of food for him.

I will check back in when I get back and thaw out again.

Reckon it is a little chilly here???...

Marion, I also received that same email weeks ago.

Crissy, I met Chuck and Rocky both on plenty of fish. I did not have any luck with Match.com this time. Actually that is where I met the jerk (Rick) in March of '06. Just about every site that I wanted to sign up on this time, he was there. So I kept hunting until I found one that he was not on. And BINGO!!!!!! 2 guys at once, hee hee. I received an IM from Chuck this morning saying that he will be at the bowling alley today. I'm not holding my breath. After talking with Rocky he sounds like a really nice guy. Would you all like to see a pix of him???? Let me tell you something about him first. He is 5'6", a bit stocky although he goes to the gym everyday, bald, hispanic, has a huge mustache, has a 2300 square foot house that he has put lots of money into it, I'm anxious to see the kitchen. He says he like to entertain so he made sure that his kitchen was built just to do that.

Jaye, will do and Thanks for fabric but no rush.

Gotta go get ready for bowlind now. Have a Great Day!!!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

A-MEN Maid M.
lets go to peggi's sistas. i'm ready

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Car warming up Kathy and Jaye--when will you be ready?

Jaye, I received the fabric and oh my! how beautiful!!!!! My mind is whirling with possibilities of things to do with it--that within itself is a scarey thing!!! Hummm, now I wonder if a.........will work. Let you know later.

Still bright and sunny but oh so cold.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Show us his picture Cindy! Would love to see it!

Jaye, I got the beautiful fabric today, and all I can say is Thank you! It is sooo pretty!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

OK here he is. He looks like a mean guy, but after talking with him, I think he may be a teddy bear, lol. LOL, he has a pot belly, guess it's because he loves too cook and eat. Says he would like to own a resturant someday. Has been with his current job for 37 years. Is recovering from shoulder surgery 5 months ago.

Thanks Bonnie for info about that glue. Wow, think I will have to go out in back to work with it. I'm such a klutz with everything. Hope43 is the one who talked about how great that glue is for everything.

Jaye, I've done some hand quilting with small wall hangings. I do enjoy doing that. Now I wish I had some material that my mom left behind when she went to Heaven 3 years ago. She had enough to start her own shop. My sewing machine sits here and I never use it. I bought it from Sears in its own cabinet in 1959, the year I arrived in California. I think my mom used it more than I ever did. Don't know why I bought it because sewing is really not my thing. Guess I wanted my mom to have a nice one as she sewed constantly. I love Bonnie's idea of a quilted duvet cover. BTW all that great material went to good use. There are women who make small quilts for the California Highway Patrol (my sister just retired from there). When there is an accident involving children there is a blanket to help comfort them. I think that is such a wonderful idea. If there is no deadline on this I may give it a try. I don't do well with deadlines, that is why my projects sit around forever waiting for me to finish them. I have some small pieces with Americana designs on them that I started hand quilting a few years ago. Now I wish I had my sister who lives in Minnesota here as she is a quilter.

You all are welcome to come to be in our wondeful weather, but just have to say I do have a small house so be prepared to be very crowded. ^_^ Next week, the temps will be in the 60's, kind of chilly for us.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Awwwwwwww Cindy he doesn't look mean,he just looks like a hairless teddy bear. And I have met some bald men that are quite sexy !!!!!!!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, he looks like a giant teddy bear. Just take your time, and get to know him. But we don't need to tell you to be careful!
Will be waiting on your update!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

sorry syn, don't like cold!

Raleigh, NC

sorry, nope. no way, synda. My snowskiing days are behind me, and so are my ice skating days. I like my snow on postcards.

ARGH. we went "walking" by running errands and I parked a lot farther from the entrances. Randall grumbled bunches, but he walked with me. I'm dieting and that man filled our carts with cinnamon rolls, muffins, pretzels and chips. DARN HIM> I've already inhaled a hot muffin with hot gingersnap tea back home. And HE grumbling non-stop because "you buy all these veggies and then they rot..." well, i'm using them up FAST.

Found the large tube of that glue at Michaels, $3.79. Looks like enough to do all my repairs here. But I may have to wait for warmer weather to do these outside, too.

Right beside it, I found a WD-40 pen, for using on small or controled areas. It says it removes crayon marks - now why couldn't I find this years ago when I had small kids?

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I don't like the cold or snow either...but I'm stuck in good ole Ohio ...LOL

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

He does look like a Teddy Bear....

Bon I guess I am lucky, aside from the bread, and an occasional bag of chips Bill is pretty good at going along with what ever I want to have or not have around when I am trying to lose weight...we're getting ready to take another go at it.....it helps now that he wants to lose some weight too.

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

I GOT IT!!!!..................everyone donates their organs to science or to others who need them......I am going to donate all my fat to those poor people who suffer from anorexia.............I get skinny and they get some meat on their bones! lol
(Well, it was a thought!.....hey don't laugh, I know some of you thought it was a good idea too!)

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Good afternoon ladies.. I have survied my first major snowfall... LOL

Its been a very strange feeling being back in this frigid weather the last few days. Our PC's and bedroom is in the basement and needless to say Im not spending alot of time down here because even with he heater we bought running ts COLD down here.. Im running laundry and the dryer is helping out for now.. Max has a nasty cold, kids are mad because its too cold to be outside for too long.. I thik Bella even has a cold in her nose. Shes been sleeping with me under the covers while Max is working nights to keep her warmer and me too! :) We got about 5 inches in 12 hours and hen its flurried since then and the roads are very icy so it takes longer to get everwhere. To top it all off work has been Very Very slow due to all the weather..

On the up side I have had time to start simple stitching on the blanket I promised Tony. Its has a long way to go but is at least now a work in progress. You wouldnt believe the way people look at me sitting in the barber chair with a needle, thread and fabric draped across my lap sewing.. I don know if Im doing it right for sure or not but its a learning process and Im dtermined to get it done some day soon.. My boss says he wishes me luck.. LMAO Will still need to buy a backing piece once I know how big its gonna be and the middle batting and then whew I need to learn to quilt it together.. But then again Im gonna start looking for fabric for my lap quilt with Jayes fabulous fabric I keep hearing about.. Whoo hoo I love learning a new craft..

Lets see I started winter sowing as well.. I have vitex, columbine, coneflowers and hosta seeds outside in the snow.. People swea it works so Im gonna try this year in a few ways.. Just need to locate some more bags for one more container then I can go to work on finding jugs and bottles for some more seeds I have around here.

Please add my mom Lindy to your prayers. She has been having issues with her knee (previous motorcycle wreck) and will be having surgery on the 22nd. The doctor says the screw that was left in has moved and her kneecap is going to be moved so they can remove the screw and scrape all the scar tissue. Shes been having alot of trouble with it and has no-one for help since my sister (blood) is being a total ******** Grrr If I was dowwn there I would kick her rear myself..

Anywho Im rambling .. Gonna make another post before I lose what I wrote..

Raleigh, NC

where you gonna lose all this weight from Trisha????? you looked pretty darn svelte to me!

Randall is usually very very good about such things. He must be getting tired of all the veggies and salads I've been fixing. Then again, come to think of it, I'm NOT buying or making the fattening stuff, so maybe he's noticed ;o)

we were at Sam's club, where they had a lot of product demos. South Beach diet bars were one, and they weren't bad. But they tasted a lot like rice krispie treats with chocolate instead of marshmellow. I tried the Activia vanilla, and that was yummy.

One gal had to demo unbreaded Chicken and flour tortillas. She showed me how she rubbed the chicken with some Weber brand TexMex Fiesta spice and just warmed it without any spray or anything, with shaved vidalia onion. Then she loaded some chicken bits and a touch of mozzarella cheese on the tortillas and warmed them in a skillet sprayed with Pam until they started to blacken a smidge. They were MARVELOUS. I can do that with boiled (inexpensive) chicken bits, lowfat cheese, and whole wheat tortillas. That and a salad would be a marvelous meal. Will have to check how much salt is in the texmex spice.

OK, since when did this kitten start liking me? she can't type worth a bean.

Raleigh, NC

OK - I'm catless. Randall walked into the kitchen, she took off after him.

Hey, Jaye, are you due south of Raleigh? south of Lumberton?

Good evening all. I got Jaye's fabric this morning and this afternoon I was off for some more to go with it. Not sure what kind of pattern I want to do yet but just check out what I found!! Jaye's fabric is the top one....

After looking at that post, I'm not satisfied with the purple. I think it needs to be more of a plum color. I'll use the purple somewhere else and keep looking for what goes better.....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL jar617, I think that makes perfect sense!!!

Donna, please stay bundled up and warm. Right now Florida isn't very nice--wet cold and you know how that feels. I will take dry cold any day!!!

Where is the Jaye person? Off shopping? I thought she said she was staying inside today.

Need to go check on my dinner--running late tonight.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Stay warm everyone...

I will gladly donate some fat to the cause!

Bon it is all in my face and around the middle....about thirty pounds of it!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Barb, I agree. For some reason I would have chosen the same purple piece but have second thoughts later. I adore the print Jaye sent to us. I checked out large blocks for a medallion type center but haven't found anything so far that inspires me--other than the fabric.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Isn't that just the prettiest fabric??? I just love it....

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

This is sooooo fitting!
