۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞179
Dear Lord,
When the shadows start to be long, guide us to Your Light.
With faith we ask for wisdom
With faith we ask for healing
With faith we ask for abundance
With faith we ask for forgiveness
and all these be done, according to Your will.
Sistahs' prayer up there.
Made a fresh pot of coffee and there's also hot chocolate to warm you all.
Please stay indoors and stay warm if you could avoid leaving the house!
Trisha, I was just discussing that with my FIL. He is hoping the Seahawks make a comeback too.
i'm here with hot chocolate chip cookies, just out of the oven
I found you, having a cup of the coffee--delicious and I am wrapped up in my snuggly quilt dragging part of it behind me so don't step on it or I will spill my coffee and burn my--oops not going there!
Grabbing one on the way by--thank you sweet one.
The Good News about the Seahawks is they can't possibly do much worse than they did this year!!
Be Safe Be Warm!
Jaye, I would love to say "YES" to receive some of your fabric for a lap quilt, BUT I have never made one and if I did it would probably take me awhile to get it done.
Adding my thoughts and prayers for everyone................................
It is still foggy here, but the sun did shine for about an hour now it's gone and it's getting cold again. Thank the Lord we have lots of "FREE" fire wood from friends, helps keep the utility bill down.
Working on my dishtowel swap and Valentine swap thingies TTYL
LK take it easy, my mom is having pain from the injection she got Wedneday and still in bed with sore throat.
And I got some pecan shortbread cookies (not fresh from the oven).
Could smell those choccie cookies... yummm...
Oh yeah.. LK has the Kahlua. That will be good in coffee too.
Now Maid M... don't do a Kel puhleeeez. Poor man went to work with extra protection on his belly. He's sporting a row of blisters. But this burn has made him a believer of Tylenol and Neosporin!!
Cindy, do the quilt at your own pace. No deadline.. just share your progress from washing to cutting. We'll support each other.
That means, Sis Kathy, you can do it too. Just cut up simple squares and sew them up!!
Gonna hit the showers before you all say "Ewwwwwwwwwwww".
Then off to the stores. See you all later.
Trust me--no Kel here!! Tried it once and that was enough. Know about the blisters, padding, etc. I hope he feeling better as it can be very painful on such tender skin!!! Stay warm all--I am trying to. Soup and grilled cheese on the menu tonight--soup already made, grilled cheese simple easy. Lazy night for the ladies here.
Ok Jaye, I will graciously accept your offer of fabric. I have seen some of those rag quilts is that what they are called, hanging in the fabric department in Wal-Mart. They look so compy too. HMMMmmmmm a good gift for my daughter and family for Christmas this year. They like to snuggle on the couch and watch tv. Thank You
Jaye - beginner quilter here, too LOL
Last night I went to a "fellow" quilter's house and she showed me strip quilting.
The shop where I get the BOM from said I was "cute" to have followed directions for "rounding up sizes of block pieces" and making an entire BOTCH of it... I ended up with a 13 1/2" block instead of the 12 1/2" it should have been (before the finished size). Gawd, what a mess, and I went to the shop to get scraps so I could re-do the block........
Even with Joyce's help (she did "scant 1/4" and I did an exact 1/4") I still messed it up, and she had bigger pieces for the Flying Geese. I think I've got it right this time, though. I just strip-sewed pieces and then cut 'em...... and if they were too big, there's always the rotary cutter LOL btw - I did say "fellow" quilter, although I'm an ernest beginner, and she's been quilting for over 20 years...... My goodness what a stock of quilts she has! Rose of Sharon, Light and Dark log cabin, Grandmother's Fan, etc.... etc..... etc. She's taught many classes and sent me home with a quick and easy way to strip cut/sew Flying Geese blocks.
I bought some more fabric yesterday..... in burgundys and browns, with some cream, again LOL It will go with some of the more colourful fabric I have. One of these days I've got to go through my "stash" and throw out unsuitable fabric that I was given a lot of.
so, Jaye - seeing as how I have to beg scraps off the Quilt shop, i think I rank in the beginner stage. Just cuz I'm ernest, doesn't mean I'm good, by any means!
♫♪~§usan~♪♫
Add my prayers to those above....
KATHY!!! I told you I'm trying to lose weight!!! Quit with the cookies already! (Glad Sissy is doing better).
Y'ALL PUT THOSE COOKIES AWAY! AHHHH YOU'RE KILLING ME!
Seriously, got caught up with reading and I've made a list of everyone needing prayers, so I'll be busy doing that tonight on my way to bed.
Synda, you had me about wetting my pants laughing with those pictures! but I can't get the video. Randall's gotta help me with that.
Loved the wine cooler - but you keep it there, ok? In fact, y'all west of us are keeping all the snow and sleet, this storm dried out before it got to Jaye and me.
Found London Broil cuts of meat, looked good, on sale yesterday 1.99/lb. Randall confiscated them all for jerky. The store was out of the chickens on special, so I baked the fresh pizza I'd bought to make today last night. It was great! Went back for more beef, and found not only London Broil but a nice sirloin tip roast, and the chickens! Had to unload and repack the freezer section to get it all in, and now I've got my HEALTHY chicken (version of turkey) soup on cooking and don't y'all DARE tempt me with cookies!!! I'll GO BEZERK.
The precise reason why I want to do this Sistah Lap Quilt.
Actually it started from a convo between Susan and I. We both have a common fabric, and then I got through thinking why not include all of you to do your VERY own lap quilt and our physical link to each other will be the quilt?
Knowing how you all are always doing something for someone and NEVER thinking of yourselves... I thought this will be a perfect way to get that "I deserve this for myself" mojo going!!!!!
So, the three quarter yard you all are getting is for YOUR very own lap quilt first.
If there are any left overs, than you can return to your old self, and do one for others.
But that first lap quilt out of this fabric, is for YOU first....
Sistah Cindy? You are so giving.. it's time you get something for yourself and that first quilt will be yours... agreed?
I'm sure there will be spare left to do the second quilt for your daughter ;)
I'm proud to say, that I have still not emerged from the rank of beginners, Susan :D
See you later ladies!
Praying for Sistah zZ. God does know all our needs and requests, he sees to them. prayers for all needs needed.
Its very cold in here. water froze up i had dripping to.. i have my lap quilt Jaye the pretty red plaid soft one u sent. love it. we have enogh wood for maybe 2 days but he can go below cut up trees from ones fell city never got them picked up be little just small trees. he said not to worry. I have roast on.. we buy one lasts for 3 or 4 days.
Everyone take care.. be well, safe.
well, the tree is packed up.
Can't find the boxes I put the creche and the little village in, though. Randall didn't find them last year, packed them all up in a large box. I should have known - he's the son of a mover, he's worked in moving company. The church, the Christmas tree, and 3 figures were broken. And the donkey lost an ear. Think I'll fix them before putting them away. But the donkey's ear wasn't here to find. I about cried, because I did get the creche back in the divorce, I'd make it when I was 16, so ex couldn't claim it.
Was it this thread or somewhere else someone was talking about a great ceramic glue?
These two animals are fighting for my attentions! That's different. Reckon it's because there's chicken soup cooking? or because they just got big bowls full of the last of the turkey soup - I boiled it down to gravy consistancy and gave it to them. boiled it so long it couldn't have anything wrong with it, but it smelled a bit off to me so wouldn't give it to us to eat. They ate every drop.
You guys are making me hungry, and nearly willing to skip a day on the resolution . . . good thing the kids eat the worst of the junkfood right away! I will go make myself some coffee, since it is a tad chilly here at 33 degrees (wind chill of 26).
Thinking of making my very own snuggie out of a blanket I found in the closet . . .
Prayers being added...
Dang I am flat out tired, my brain quit at about 3:30 and so did I, just sat here and vegged out. 10 minutes to go and I can go home!
Ok agreed ^_^. I have been checking out purples and sage greens when ever I go to a fabric store. I want to make me a king size quilt for my bed, but............................... I don't have the know how. I found some in Beverley's during the spring and when I went back to get some to start it was gone. It was so pretty to. It was lavender Iris' with sage green background and other contrast fabrics to match. I'm so bummed :(
Again Jaye, THANKS!!!
Does anyone want a rag quilt? I bought a rag quilt at a garage sale a while back then realized I don't have a sewing machine. I'll have to look at it to see how big it is. LOL
Don't give up Syrumani! If I can avoid their cookies, I'll be fine. making fatfree chicken veggie soup with extra onions. whole house smells like comfort soup. Randall came upstairs just now wanting to know if he can have some of the chicken for making chicken salad.
first he wants my beef, now he wants my cooked chicken. Sheesh! I'll cook him another tomorrow, bought several. gotta go look up some recipes - I forgot what I was going to make with this one.
Cindy, anything with irises on it is hard to find here locally. Am told if they get any, it's often gone fast, too.
But several folks gave me links to online sites with iris prints. But they all cost more than fabric does here. Locally, fabric is very reasonable. Don't think I've ever paid more than $6/yd in town, and the ones online are $9 and $10/yd.
I received this is an email. It is sooooooo funny. Had to change some of the words.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING,

ROFLOL exactly how I felt when I went to my class reunion!!!! Very cute.
The powers of our Dear Lord never ceases to amaze me...........it was so bad out when Ryan left he could hardly get out of the drive, and he has a Subaru all wheel drive....and you couldn't even see the highway.I was literally sick at him being on such roads and having to be on express ways he had never been on and the Ohio turnpike and having to drive thru the snow belt.He called me off and on and told me the roads had just clear up,no snow.So I guess me ringing Gods phone off the hook did wonders,he knew he was dealing with a psycho mother on this day.I would have gotten on here a bit earlier but I had not slept and after Ryan left I took a nerve pill......and once I knew he was safe I passed out....LOL.
Praying for all that are in need......and wrapping arms across the miles. And I want to thank you all for being my sistahs and being here for me,I sure did need it !!!!!!
Oh what a huge relief Synda, God is Great!!!
Well, I'm back in the datng game thingie again. Chuck well I don't know. But I came in contact with an old school friend, hee hee. His sister and I were best friends all thru high school and I used to go over to their house alot. Well, we happened to be on the same dating site and started chatting a couple of days ago not knowing who was who until we shared some things about our past. Then tonight we chatted for like an hour, on IM. I am going to his house for breakfast Sunday. And guess what he has a Harley. His name is Rocky Lopez, was married for 23 years his divoice cost him 600 thousand bucks. He owns his own home, has a hot tub, sauana and a salt water swimming pool. Said he remodled his kitchen and that cost him 65 thousand. Asked if it had a cooktop island yep, told him I was in love with him already, lol. Here is a pix of his Harley.
Cindy, you are a hoot.
sweet dreams, sweet sistahs. there has been a slight delay in my retiring for evening .....washed the sheets first thing this morning and forgot them....
If He takes care of the flowers in the field and the birds in the air, how much better will He take of us, His children?
His love has no bounds but our own lack of believing He can do all things, and usually He just side steps our feeble attempt at disbelief and handles it anyways!
Praying tonight for all of you........knowing even if the request is unspoken, He still knows........I liken it to when a child first learns to speak and the parents are the only ones who can understand him.
Take care wonderful ladies and may the peace and warmth you have on the inside be reflected back to you by those around you.
G'night
Julie
I should have gone to bed a long time ago, I'm becomming such a night owl.
Hope43 was the one that said this was a miracle glue. She repaired so many things with it. I believe she said it was in a purple container E6000. I haven't been to Lowe's or Home Depot for a while but when I do go I will look for it. I need to fix a ceramic paper towel holder a friend gave me. It has a nice apple on the front. Needless to say when she sees an apple she thinks of me as my kitchen is full of them. I tried some super glue and only managed to glue my fingers together. That stuff is so dangerous, but I hear doctors are using it instead of stitches. Have to check on that.
And, I am not going to rub it in about our weather, but it was 74 today. I know everyone is suffering from extreme cold so I'll keep my lips zipped up.........at least for a while. ^_^ Prayers for all those who need them so desperately right now.
Got some seed catalogs in the mail, is it that time again to start thinking of planting a garden, or starting them indoors first? I'm not ready for that just yet.
We'll just all come and stay at your house Pegi until it get warm here !!!!!!!!!!!!!! .......ROFLMBO
Morning everyone! 17 here this morning! Lowest record here since 1969! They can keep it!
Coffee is on, and some fresh waffles this morning for breakfast.
Bon, sure hope you got your sheets dried for bed!
I have been recieveing bulb, and seed catalogs too. So tempting, but I will wait a bit longer!
Cindy, sure hope your breakfast date works out! I have never heard of a salt water pool? But the sauna sure sounds good! Some day I will have one. Just need to hit the lottery! So far my hips are still pain free, but I feel the sore muscle from the shot she gave me yesterday. OUCH! So taking some motrin to help with that!
Hope you all have a great day!
LK
Good morning, all. It has creeped up to 25 now from 16 an hour and a half ago. Today's high is supposed to be 45 - hope it gets up to that!
Coffee is on here as well, but instead of waffles we have strawberry cheesecake pancakes.
I got 2 gardening catalogs in the mail on the same day, Samigal. I just have so many seeds that I've collected that I have enough to plant for the next year or 3!
Jaye, I just got the fabric you sent and it is so pretty!!!! Thank you so much and now i'm off to the quilt shop to find the perfect fabrics to go with it. I will post a picture of them all when I get them together. Thank you again. Barb
Morning everyone! Just popping in to check on ya'll in these cold temps and see how Cindy's dating is going LOL
Cindy what website do you use? When I met Dave, we were set up to meet in person, which is what happened, I was on Match.com. After we got married and he left 2 months later I had remembered I never shut it off, so I went on it to shut it down. Got curious and did a search to see how many of the same people were still on it some 3 years later and it pulled Dave up! I read what he had said and boy did his ego show through on that! He was on Match.com the same time I was on Match.com but it never lead me to him for whatever reason. I closed my account and his account, never told him and I wonder if he ever remembered having it in the first place.
Morning Glory!
LK and all, I'm with you - probably coldest morning we'll have this year. It's hot chocolate weather, so I got out my fancy peppermint hot chocolate I bought a year ago. This time I made it exactly like the directions said to, still lousy results - thin and too bitter. (I tried a heavenly sample in the store.) Finally poured it all out. Not going to be a member of the "because I'm supposed to eat what I take" club any more, not going to waste calorie intake like that this year. So I fixed eggs over easy, Randall's favorite weekend breakfast treat. But switched to canola oil and used less butter.
No seed catalogues here, darn it all! There's an article in the Home section of today's N&O about the new Superpetunias coming out. Need to start petunias from seed this year for making up patio baskets. We did without this past year because could only find them already in the baskets, very very pricey. Bought heat mats for seeds a year ago and then felt too bad to start any. Anyone know where's a good place to go? This article says Park Seeds and gives an online site, but they don't have many petunias on this site to buy. And when should I start them?
i've gotten at least 10 seed and plant catalogs in the past 4 weeks. colder than a witches ___ here.
Pegi, I forgot to say thanks for the glue info. DD gave me a gift certificate to Home Depot so I'll go looking this morning.
would anyone mind if I made a quilted duvet cover instead of a lap quilt? This fabric is so pretty I want to see it all the time. We haven't had a bedspread since we got a king sized bed ten years ago. (Yes, I'm picky) Just have a white down comforter which still works but is looking dingy. Was going to replace it, but duvet cover would give me color in that room....
2nd that here, Kath. Can't make myself move out that front door. Or up in the attic looking for the proper boxes for the last of the Christmas stuff. Am looking around the house for storm windows not closed. Randall hasn't fixed the hole in ceiling - that's suddenly a priority, I can't do laundry fast enough to keep the downstairs warm with a hole in the ceiling.
OK y'all. ever since kitty got the turkey soup stuff, she's been jumping up in my lap, and I'm not used to typing with cat butt in my face.
