Love that photo, wha!

How big is that carnation, Victor?

Mona - that's too beautiful!

Wonderful color on your rhododendron, Jen.

Luvs - is that 'Bad Hair Day'?

Japanese iris, Crowning Moment, for submission to the TWiki iris project.

Beautiful, Pirl!

The carnation is WC's.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks and sorry at the same time!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

(Forgot to stamp my name on the petal... lol!)

- It's about 1.75 inches pirl ! ☺

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Just scrolled up and spotted Patti's photo of that gorgeous Fritillaria! Stunning.

Sorry, WC. Do you have howling winds right now? They're worse than just cold temperatures to me.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

We have 11mph winds, we start howling about ~15, well actually we really don't howl, we growl and moan a little! (lol!) -It's when the house shakes a little that I find bothersome! hee hee!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Just checked and now the winds are down to 1 MPH. Maybe my complaining helped?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Tomorrow should be windier in these parts, (per forecast).

Rhody at the front corner of my house

Oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, the wind is awful. I can take temps down to about 20 without wind without complaints. Wind makes even the upper so's unbearable.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

And...Cool Poppy, Spectacular irises, Gorgeous carnation!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ditto! ^_^

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Thank you Lucy on the TWiki project. Currently there are only three of us from DG that have been asked and added. Anita Moran and MShadow being the other two, so I feel very pleased to have been asked.

I asked Victor if he would consider it, but he says he doesn't have too many iris pictures :) Boojum is looking into it,, too. She definitely would be a great contributor. Her iris photos are the best as far as I'm concerned, and she has tons of them, mostly beardless irises, which they need a lot of. It might be a good opportunity for anyone that has tons of great iris pictures, as this is going to be THE iris site, and it's where magazines etc. may look to to buy pictures. And the pictures are creditied.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice, WC!

Nice one Victor!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Lots of pretties again. We seem to be having a purple theme. Jen's wonderful rhody,Lvgd's fuzzy poppy,Pirl's beautiful j. iris,Allison shows us what the Purple Sensation alliums look like when they return,WC has a lovely soft yellow tulip with just a hint of purple to go nicely with the tulips in back,Bill has a clem that is going gangbusters and Victor shocks us with a great close-up of brilliant orange stamens of a purple crocus. Now if spring would just show up, I do wish it would hurry up. How many days left?
These are little light blue stars. I think some one put a name to them earlier but I do not know who they are, they appear in late april here.

Thanks, WC and Pat. Pretty, Pat! 72 days.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Celeste there are two next too each other there and the only thing i do is DUMP wood ash on them in the late fall. They came with the house and all i did was move them to this location. Here is the other one - i did miss a day:)

Chionodoxa, Patti, 'glory of the snow'. pretty!

I'll admire your alliums, Allison. No hard feelings, sob, sob.

I love crocus, now those do well for me. Crocus and narcissus.

Beautiful clems, Bill! I wonder how pellet stove ash would work on them?

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Polly I knew some one would know.
Bill it sure is a beauty. I lime mine a little every year along with the lilacs and delphs. I will try a little wood ash too this year.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ash provides potassium. A necessary element for overall plant health, but will not do much for flowering.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I was bowled over when I saw Wha's clematis in bloom when I visited his garden in person late last May, or I should say bowled over by his whole property, or more appropriately his botanical garden! So my photo of the day is from that visit. Patti

Nice place wha! Thanks Patti. How well kept. Inspiring.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Gosh don't know if I can hold out for 72 more days!! Keep the colors coming...

Tiny little snapdragons...

Very nice, Bill, though I see a lot of space. Get moving! Bill is definitely anal about being perfectly manicured, mulched, weeded, etc. Not me.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Wonderful, Bill.

Ash also sweetens the soil. that's why we never use it on beardless irises, boys and girls, LOL. It does not do much for plant blooming, but for lilacs and things that like sweet soil, it's a good additive.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

True, but lime is more effective. In either case, it takes a long time.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Luvs, Love those tiny snaps! I grew some tiny daisys last year and this year am looking for more "tinies" to grow on my patio. I have some tiny snap seeds to winter sow. Hope mine look like yours

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Definitely lime is more effective, but I have the ash. So might as well use it.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Jada! I love snaps, they are a memory flower for me...always squeezed them open as a kid...and adult too!!

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Sorry, I'm clueless. Why do you squeeze them?
