Dnut the nest looks like Robins. They sometime return and build on top of the old one.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

yup they sure do that last three years they have built a nest on my front entrance light what a mess

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

JoAnn is that an allium? It does look nice with the heuch.
Lynn I am a sucker for coneflowers. Is that guara with it? Makes a nice combination.
We have birds here that try to nest on the lights but the top is on a slight slant and the nest eventually falls off. They have not done it for a couple of years now, guess they figured it out.
Jadajoy that is a very pretty bouquet. Helps to get the winter greys away.
Mona holy cow that is some seed head. Can't wait to see these giant poppies in bloom. Wow!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I have been looking and cant seem to find the pics I was looking for maybe the kids deleted more pics again will have to take more pics when they bloom this year

the bloom was almost twice the size of my open hand so beautifull

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

That seed pod must have a gazillion seeds :O Robins thankfully moved from the front light to the back one a couple of years ago.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Took six fingers to hold it!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

You need that many fingers to count to a gazillion.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

ngam!! Yes thet is Allium Karavatans it has big boat shaped leaves that are very dramatic BUT they dont disappear until jUly.A nuisence when trying to put in annual fillers.

South Hamilton, MA

To go back a zillion posts, 'Baboon Bottom' is an iris hybridized by Brad Kasperek who speciallizes in 'broken color' irises & African names. I'm sure that you bought it from Schreiners as they do sell other irises in addition to their own.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes I only ordered a few iris and they were all from Shreiners Baboon Bottom and Enchanted one are the only survivors from borers and slugs.

Thanks JoAnn I thought that was the one with the wide leaves. Maybe it needs to be stuck in among all the DLs you planted. I am anxious to see all of them bloom,it will be very pretty. Pretty iris, slugs got a couple of mine this past year too. Grrrr.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Beautiful iris Patti and Jo Ann.

I love those alliums! Another thing that does not do well here. Maybe again, too much water.

all those pictures are great! I love iris.
yes ngam those are guara whirling butterflies with the coneflowers, also dwarf hamlin grasses in there. In that pic they're newly planted. I lost a guara to root rot after the winter & replaced it....stubborn, huh? lol

I need to look into Louisiana Iris. They are prettier than I thought.

South Hamilton, MA

They also bloom later than the others, so extend your season.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Are they as suseptable to borer as Bearded Iris?
Are they more like Siberians?

Lynnie6868, Love seeing Jesse's Song, so I am off looking at Painted Acres Farm selection who has it for sale next summer. We had a beloved dog named Jessie ( different spelling) but I think I need it for up by her grave.

onewish1, Golden lights is beautiful. I have a few struggling azalea, but none that I like as much as yours.

ngam, wonderful dwarf iris. I may need more of those dwarf iris too.

Ge1836, I have a few iris from Schreiner's Iris too, but not those two. Enchanted Baboon Bottom (had to leave out the comma)
I think I need a Baboon Bottom next summer.

Victor, love those Sicilian Honey Lily Nectaroscordum siculum
OR
Synonym:Allium siculum
Synonym:Allium dioscoridis
Synonym:Nectaroscordum bulgaricum
Synonym:Nectaroscordum siculum subsp. bulgaricum
Synonym:Allium bulgaricum

Too confusing!!! I have ordered it a couple of times thinking it was different. Good thing I like it.

PollyK, hope to get a 'Ships Are Sailing' this spring. Lovely.

Pirl, that L.iris is stunning. I have had no luck growing them. Envious and in awe that you can.

flowerjen, need sunglasses for that one. wow.

Here is a nice TBI called Tiger Honey that I got from the Agway store trash can in Brattleboro Vt in Dec of 2006. It was a dried up rhizome that was being thrown out. They told me to take any that I wanted, so I took a few others that I planted in the GH for that winter and then planted them out in the spring. None had tags except this one. I adore it and now have a big stand of them. Patti

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

sicilian honey lily we call them sicilian garlic back on the island people collect them as wild garlic

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

So can you eat the sicilian garlic?

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

yes, if you smell the bulbs you will know that it is wild garlic but the flowers are so beautifull why would you want to pull them and eat them you would never see them bloom

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Wild garlic is a nuiscnce weed here.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

I'd like to have some wild garlic volunteering around here.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Lousianas aren't reliable bloomers for us Jo Ann. I know they do well in Highland Park, but it must just be a microclimate there. I get great clumps, but few blooms.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Wild garlic is a pest in our area also.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

pirl--Acadian Miss is gorgeous! Nice rescue bbrookd--very unusual, and beautiful bloom!

Tiger Honey is one of Brad Kasperek's early broken color iris. He lives in Utah, so maybe it didn't mind being dry for a time.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Patti! Like I said on the iris forum, Patti, I should pay you for the privilege of having my iris in your beautiful gardens. I have three Ships Are Sailing left. I'll save you one in case you do want it.

Tiger Honey is a beauty. I'm so glad you rescued it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - garlic is a real pain. Italians keep showing up.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

And here's my garlic contribution...grown last Christmas--it does have pretty blooms! LOL!
