ICE GYPSIES

Jesup, GA

As mean as Lester is...I still love him....and he'll always have a spot in mommys heart. But I have to use good sense too. I am truly afraid if I dont get rid of him he will eventually hurt some one. And if he hurts the grands DH,said things will turn ugly in a hurry for old Lester! So it's best for Lesters sake to move to the farmASAP! Grin....

Jesup, GA

JJ's get ys a torch for the car doors. I know you guys are having some kind of cold weather!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Doors opened and car started..

Lester will be happy I am sure.
Hurting a grand would surely put him on the table here..

Jesup, GA

Guess I'll go for now. DH and I have to get together and discuss the capture of Lester. So we can get him to new home. Grin..This should be fun. Every one try to stay warm and be safe. Later Gators!

Jesup, GA

JJ's glad ya got car doors open! Be careful out there! See ya later and have a good day.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning all my chilly friends. Dixie....think of it as bootcamp for Commando Lester....but one he gets to survive....grin

So sorry you all have to go out in such cold weather, it is 35 here.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Morning all, ever feel like your sitting in the middle of an ice cube? Moon that picture is so cute, looks like us gypsies on ledge and you below scolding us and sending JJ to the corner lol. Dixie post a picture after catching lester, want to see the peck marks on your head lol. Smilely, JJ, Lynnie be careful out there, put a blanket and granola bar in car for emergencies.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Morning Flowers....my feet feel like ice cubes and we are not nearly as cold as you guys. Got some outside stuff to take care of...supposed to get into mid to low 20's the next 2 or 3 nights....darn Arctic blasts....grin. Good idea on the blanket and granola bars...would say add a water bottle to the cache just in case. Be safe and warm as possible

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Why would anyone want to live in Alaska is what I want to know :-) Bundle in layers when ya go out and drag out the snow boots. Catch ya a little later.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Good morning! It's 18 degrees here and snowing a lite fluffy snow. I'm staying in all day. Maybe take a nap.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Hey Marti,, I think it is cold everywhere right now, was in below didgets last night, I'm with you don't go out if ya don't have to. May venture out just to see if the car will start later. Did you have a good weekend?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

OK gonna go watch Dr. Oz and then get busy on this house, had family over yesterday and dishes still in the sink. Take care and stay warm and come join in every chance you get.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi Marti. Good thought on staying inside. Got a little to do outside, but hate the idea...I do so dislike being cold....grin

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

This weekend we had my sisters Grandson, age 14 stay with us. He and I went outside and burned some of the tree limbs that are in the yard. There is piles of it some has been there for over 5 years. Slowly, I'm getting things picked up and cleaned up. In between snow falls. Although once you get a fire started it doesn't feel so cold out there. Most of the downed tree limbs are stacked where I want a shade garden, so must get it cleaned up. I'm leaving small twigs and piling up the leaves so will have rich soil in the spring and a woodland feel to the area. It is under three maple trees so will be in full shade until winter each year.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I am so glad the burn pile has stuff in it. Gonna light that buddy as soon as we go out. Good you had some help with the limbs. Gonna roust my 15 y/o grandson to help. Have a ton of oranges we need to pick today and gotta cover some stuff or lose it. Gotta find my knit cap and gloves to wear under garden gloves. Can't function when my hands get too cold....arthritis makes them look like claws...guess that is okay for a howling wolf....grin

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Oranges! Oranges! I want! I miss Calif as I could get oranges all year at a fair price. My friends owned a truck farm and always gave me a veggies and fruit at a decent price. Here oranges are .38 cents each.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Best price around here is usually 4-5 for a dollar. I have small Native La. sweet orange and a Moro Blood Orange. Something just so satisfying about being able to pick your own. DH has a couple small satsumas in pots....gotta go drag them under cover....told him they needed to be in the ground....grin

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

That does sound good doesn't it marti? Oranges here are priced outragious and miss that good fruit. Moon how do you keep them from going bad inside? Well man cut little sourwood tree behind my shed late summer and left wood strown in front of my compost pile. Guess what, if he doesn't come back to get it and I have to move it (which will be in spring) I will stack it and use it for outdoor fire pit. Snooze ya lose :-)

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL on the granola bar girls...you know I need a bucket of chicken and a 12 pack of diet coke.

Good to see you Marti. Stay in and warm.

I carry a blanket and a set of coveralls in my car all winter long...

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Part of my clean up is to make the people who own the lot and mobile home behind us clean up their mess. During a storm last year a pine tree snapped off and fell into our yard and I found that they've been trimming their trees before that and throwing the limbs over the fence into my sisters yard. Now I'm here and trying to force them to clean it up or go to court. I don't think its fair that I clean up their mess. Sent them a letter they have until the end of Feb to take care of it.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

That is just not right.
They should clean up their own mess and throwing things into your sisters yard is just rude. Would take them less energy just to make a pile and burn it.
Those are the kind of neighbors no one wants...

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hey JJ. Yup Marti, neighbor's like that have a special name....good on you for standing up to them. Trying to warm up a bit...supposed to be down to 25 tonight, 23 tomorrow night and possibly teens Wednesday....doesn't sound that bad compared to you guys, but that is MISERABLE cold for here. Opened the door for the dogs and cats this morning....dogs went out, cats looked at me like I was crazy....dogs were out maybe 5 minutes....don't know what I will do when it is even colder....grin

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Well, we're just waiting to see what they're going to do. Now part of the fence has fallen down and its their fence. They put it up on their side of a wire fence that was there. a few years back. My sisters daughter went out and cut down the wire fence after the wood fence was put up. When the lightening hit the pine tree and took it down it fell on a crabapple tree in my sisters yard and took it down also.

Whats funny is that Calif is known for not being real neighbor friendly, but I have found people here are even less friendly that Calif.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

LOL JJ, I was just trying to sound fit, I actually perfer the bucket of chicken but pepsi instead of diet coke. Marti some people are really rude, but what goes around comes around believe me. Guess you will be talking to the dogs a few days Moon, sounds like they like their new warm place so just scoot over and let them have the couch lol

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

My sisters dachound is trained to potty of papers in the bathroom. She says she wished her big dog was trained the same way. The dachound started out this morning and turned back and ran over to the couch and borrowed in under a blanket. She's still there. Mojo, the big dog, ran out to the bottom of the stair, watered the bottom rail of the stairs and came back in. The temp right now is 20 degrees up from 17.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Hello Ladies! Hi Marti, glad you could join us.

JJ, I saw on the weather report this morning it's sweeping your way. We're all supposed to get another blast of cold, even colder than this.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Sam peed on the door after I kicked him out. So I opened the door mid-stream & told him he couldn't do that. Then he proceeded to poop in the path going to the gate.

Silly dog, go in the back. I think he's afraid of the dark.

Hi Flowers! Heidi Howdy Ho, Moon!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Have to watch the dogs when they are loose in the house...Beagles are very curious....grin. Benny is blind, so inside or outside is same to him. He will try to dig a hole in the carpet or chew on a table leg. Since I insist that they sleep inside at night, we have a foyer that DH and I got babygates for. We basically made it a kennel. Tile floor and everyone has their own doggy bed. The cats all go in my bedroom or GS's bedroom....water beds have heaters.....cats aren't dumb....grin.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hiya Smiley. I don't see how you guys handle the cold. I am whining about 20 degree weather, but then I am a wuss. grin I firmly believe hell would be full of icicles .....

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Moon, I would move down south in a heartbeat if there was nothing holding me here. I absolutely hate the cold weather. Only good thing about it is sledding!

DH says if Sam was a winter dog he'd be out there walking him. He walks to the store, etc.. I can't stand it.

Is it only 20 there? It's 16 here today. JJ is the one who has the super-dee-duper cold weather.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks smiley good news just keeps on coming today.

Opened the mail and found out my health insurance premiums just went up $192.00 a month.

We never go to the DR maybe once or twice a year. Geesh

But about the time you told them to cancel it something major would happen.
Time to add that to the shopping list...LOL

Moon I imagine 20 and 30's to you in the winter would be like us having low 60's in the summertime.......

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Benny is a beagle, Moon? Aroo! Aroo! There are quite a few beagles in our area. Most of them are named Buddy, for some reason.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Super duper cold is right. Even an eskimo would freeze here lately.

I need to get some lunch , drag the dog out and then go out to friends house.
When I get back I am not going out again for anything..

Catch you all later

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Sorry JJ, just trying to warn ya.

Health insurance is ridiculous. My employer pays 55%, every year the percentage goes down and the premiums go up. Even still I see almost $100/week (my portion) go to health insurance. But like you say...

2 years ago we got a bare-bones plan (he was trying to save even more money) and Angela (DD) had to have a breathing test. Because they did it in a hospital it ended up costing me $300. His daughter broke her foot and that was the end of the crappy insurance.

Not that ours is a gold plan, more like tarnished silver.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I know smiley insurance is terrible.
I know people paying a lot more than me, and I knew mine was going up, just wasn't expecting quite that much.

Well we can hope that a health care bill will pass and do us some good.
Remember I said HOPE.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

It is 39 right now Smiley...gonna be in 20's tonight. Yup, Benny and Sophie are both beagles. Buddy must have been a famous Beagle at some point. It is the number 1 name for them. GS named Benny...his full name is Benjaben Christopher....grin Sophie is Sophie Spoon Piggy-nose and Chester the Springer Spaniel is Chester Cheesedog. All the animals here have NAMES....grin

Our insurance...knock on wood...is pretty good..BCBS through work. So far only costs us about $200 per month....company pays major chunk...about $800...so guess we pay 20%. Thank goodness....and they take the payment out before taxes.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, Sam is technically Little Dot Samuel L. Jackson Golba.

We also have a Section 125 Plan, which is taking the health insurance before taxes. Helps a little, and as we all know, every little bit helps!

So you have 3 dogs and cats also? How many cats do you have? It took us forever to get DH to let us get the dog. It was DD, she said "I'll take care of it, please???" and I backed her all the way. When we finally got him, did she? Of course not. And I know better, but I really thought she would because she loves animals and took care of the birds, guinea pigs, hamsters etc.. Funny thing, though, she can get him to do things that we can't. Like roll over, or to stay put while he gets drops in his ears.

Well my bassette is dumb as a box of rocks sometimes. Slider doors are froze, so let her out the front and opened the gate so she could take her walk, what does she do but comes back to the slider wanting in. Had to put heavy robe on and walk around the house and point her to the front. Geesh. Been moving one vase of flowers all morning from one corner to another, they stick up too far and get in the way of everything. Very pretty so haven't given up yet, gone to try again to find the perfect spot.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Okay....all done outside. Had a couple little snow flurries. GS was jumping around like it was actually snowing....grin

Smiley, I remembered you saying before Sam was Samuel L Jackson...just forgot the Little Dot. We have 3 cats also....Mea Culpa Mimi Chat, whom we loving refer to as Princess Grouchy Pants, (13), Maxima Culpa , whom we call MaxieCat also (13) and Bobstreporous D Cat, called Bobbiedog who is (5).

Just like these guys Flowers...think there is only one door they can go in and out of....silly critters

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Gonna shut this room off shortly, its 21* with wind chill of 8, got the logs kickin! Cute doggie names Moon and Smiley. Hope everyone is back home safe and snug. I got the sweetest poem book with all the Christmas poems that were posted on thread, made by our very talented Julie (Smiley). It was such a pleasant surprise and the cover was so pretty, Thanks Julie you are so generous for thinking of that. I think you need a prize for being official Administrator of Operation Gypsi threads!
