Synda, it was Jessie and Jake that wrecked....but insurance (his and mine) is covering it all. I just found that out earlier this evening. And no I did not get the PS3....emailed the guy but got no response...That would have been a great present for the girls.
Jaye, I agree that recipe sounds deeeelicious! I love eggnog and cheesecake so that is a winning combination with me!

Trisha, Hope your baking day goes well...I keep trying to stock up on some to give them to friends but the kids eat them while they are still warm coming out of the oven. lol.

Why is it that everyone driving faster than you is considered an idiot and everyone driving slower than you is a moron?
How can something be "new" and "improved"? if it's new, what was it improving on?
and the last one...........The Bible is found in the "Reference" section of the library.......I like that!.

A wonderful Christmas to everyone.

LK, Halloween Night we had an officer killed an one injured in Seattle, in November we had four killed in Parkland near here, then a few days ago we had two Pierce County Deputies shot about 30 miles from here. One will be okay, the other was shot in the head and is still in coma in very critical condition....they don't know if he will make it. both officers have children between 10 and 16 years old. It will be a difficult time for both families.

Jaye those were wonderful!!! We are watching a Christmas Carol... I never get tired of it and watch every version they show each year.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Trisha my prayers are going out to those families. Coming from a family of law enforcement officers I know how dangerous that job can be, and seems you've had a rash of cop killers lately. Not Good.

Jaye LOL LOL LOL!! And thank you so much!

I think Dave went to bed, I need to go join him, but we're having tornado warnings in the south western part of the state and headed toward us so I want to keep an eye on it. Arkansas now has broke the record for the most rainfall ever recorded in one year. I'll take the rain over tornadoes any day!

We watched The Christmas Carol tonight too, with the guy from Star Trek. I have always liked him for some reason.

night night!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

That is the one we are watching now crissy, I really do like him.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Julie that is great news that ins. is covering it.Was the blazer a total loss? Tell Jesse I love her. I was hoping to get it for Ryan (the PS3) since I have nothing but my love.I emailed him also.

Yeah Jaye, Rick got a ham from work and I'll make that. But nothing real elaborate,it's just him and I,Ryan has to work, and momma and Dale are going to my youngest brothers.

Hello ladies!
We're enjoying Synda's return, with all the pretty pictures! And you're right Synda, it's His birthday and we have to learn forgiveness, just like He forgives ALL our transgressions... errr.. even Tiger knew this.
So enjoy your Mum and make it a happy memorable one for YOU and Rick.

Kim, goodness!! You're making this an annual vacation? So lucky!! Well, enjoy yourself and keep your money close to yourself. Please do like LK said.. I don't speak Spanish, but say hello when you can.
Tell Susan_TurtleChi to come out of her shell please. We miss her!

Hope you're through with baking, Trisha.
I'm sure this year, your state will have a serious reflection on those cop assaults. My heart goes to their families.

Crissy, celebrating in a warm house is better than treading cold water, right? Bet you're already baking something sweet.

I know it will be a wonderful Christmas for Maid M and her family. Kim's such a great cook and baker, wonder if there will be any leftovers.

Good to see you here Juanita. Think I need another 'plate' as this one's overflowing!! Like Crissy, I may have to limit the swaps, but I've committed myself to the towel swap, and since the egg swap gives me plenty of time to prepare.. that's doable too.

To those, like LK, having to travel during Christmas, be safe!

Hi - been AWOL for a day/or so.....
trying to catch up on threads.........
Jaye - that joke re: Early Christmas Shopping - it's the same one our pastor told on Sunday LOL

Bless you, each and every one of you, with the wonderfulness of Jesus, a babe come to us. Let it remind you that to enter Heaven you must be like a child and enjoy every moment we have with each other - be it Friend or Family. (however, like a true friend of mine said - "Friends, God's apology for Family" LOL)
You bring me Joy, and I wish the same for you, in everything you think, say, and do.
Merry Christmas ^_^

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Good afternoon all, and hope you have a very Merry Christmas. I don't know why I stress out so much this time of year, but I think I will make it once more. I had a doctor's appointment at 7 AM, now that is way before breakfast. It was just a consultation about my iron anemia and he doesn't see any need to put me through all the tests again. OH BOY! He did increase my iron supplement so hope that helps. It is up to me if I want the capsule endoscopy, camera in a pill form to see what is going on, I can let him know. I won't see my primary doctor until the middle of Jan. and I hope he doesn't push for me to do that.

Getting up so early it was cold in the house and I would prefer to have stayed in bed. It was in the middle 40's and to us that is cold. The sun is out now and it really has warmed up. I really wish I could send some of our ideal weather to all of you. Be safe on your icy roads, we want everyone to be coming on DG;s and getting ready to think about spring and all those lovely flowers.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Running in out of the arrrgh ---rain---to tell everyone Kim did bake the garlic chocolate chip cookies and take it from me--they are really good! I was somewhat hesitant to taste the first one but to my surprise--I liked it. Funny thing with as much garlic as was used there is no smell in the house.

So Jaye, tell Kel continue with his opinion of the recipe that just means all the more for me to eat. LOL

Sending wishes to all...................

Wishing all sisters a very Merry Christmas, and may the reason for the season be with you all tonight, keeping your travels safe and your holiday safe and filled with love and joy and wonder.

we have spent a nice calm day here. Finally trimmed the tree - it looks pretty darn great. Put up a few of the old decorations. decorated a little tree to take to Mom&Dad. Ate sausage biscuits and OJ for brunch while out getting a few more stocking stuffers and letting Ruth do some of her shopping. Getting ready to do the wrapping. Going to Church tonight later. about to have soup and leftovers. My older DD is in a sheer angry panic because no one has made enough plans.... ah well, she'll learn to take things easier. Randall picked up a blooming Christmas cactus for me yesterday. and I have my little Dr. Seuss Santa hat ready to wear tonight while wrapping. We found a battery charger! so I'll send some photos for once.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm back...had a good visit with momma........I bit my tongue, all though I did tell Dale 98 % of the time he really hurts my feeling. His reply was well I guess I'm succeeding. That was Rick said will I'm hungry and it's getting dark so we better get going...........LOL.So we left and I cried home. But I'm better now.

We went to Christmas Eve service, and when we were singing "The First Nowell", I don't know what came over me........ the Spirit, I expect....... but I hit notes I didn't know I had in me, and couldn't stop. It was like I wasn't "me" anymore. I was left shaking afterwards.....
It was a very moving service.

Merry Christmas to all, and a more blessed evening could not be had. As the pastor said "Big, important people of the time had their names forgotten, and the name of a tiny, helpless baby has his name spoken by thousands, two thousand years later.........

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Our Service too was a wonderful one...made even better by the fact that a couple from our Saturday Service who have not been to church since his stroke in July were at the service tonight.

One of wounded police officers was home tonight.... the other is still in great need of our prayers this night.

A wonderful and peaceful Christmas to each of you and your loved ones.

Christmas Dinner at My House

Martha Stewart will not be dining with us this Christmas so I've made a few small changes...

Our sidewalk will not be lined with homemade, paper bag luminaries. After a trial run, it was decided that no matter how cleverly done, rows of flaming lunch sacks do not have the desired welcoming effect ... & neither did the flaming dogfood & kittylitter bags.

Once inside our guests will note that the entry hall is not decorated with the seasonal swags of evergreens, bows & holly berries I had planned to make. Instead, the dogs have gotten involved in the decorating by tracking in dead leaves & mud from the back yard. The mud was their idea. Clever of them, huh?

The dining table will not be covered with expensive linens, fancy china & crystal goblets. If possible we will use dishes that match, & you will probably get a fork. Since this is Christmas we will refrain from using the paper plates, plastic utensils & leftover napkins from McDonalds. Naturally the dogs will be under the table to make sure the floor stays clean. Bless their hearts, they try hard to help me when it comes to keeping the floors in the kitchen & dining room clean.

Our centerpiece will not be the tower of fresh fruit and flowers that I planned. Instead, we will be displaying a wet hedgehog-like decoration handcrafted from the finest construction paper, poster paint & macaroni. The artist assures me it is a snowman. The dogs are totally convinced it's a new dog toy. With a little bit of luck it will still be in one piece by dinnertime.
For your information, we will be dining fashionably late. The children & dogs will entertain you while you wait. I'm sure they will be happy to share every choice comment I have made regarding Christmas, decorating, shopping & the turkey hotline. Please, remember that most of these comments were made at 5 am when I discovered that the turkey was still hard enough to cut diamonds on...not to mention my necessary quality control checks of the rum while making Rum Balls on Christmas Eve.
As an accompaniment to the children's recital, I will play a recording of tribal drumming & the dogs will howl along. If the children should mention that I don't own a recording of tribal drumming, or that the tribal drumming sounds suspiciously like a frozen turkey in a clothes dryer, ignore them.....they are lying.

We toyed with the idea of ringing a dainty silver bell to announce the start of our feast but we tossed that idea aside. We will bang on an empty sauce pan with a metal spoon instead. You can hear it better over all the noise & anyway the cats broke the bell. Or, we may choose to keep our traditional method of announcement: When the smoke alarm sounds, please gather around the table & sit wherever you can. We've also decided against a formal seating arrangement. In the spirit of harmony, we will ask the children to sit at a separate table in a separate room & preferably next door. The dogs will remain here under the table. After all, they have a job to do.
For safety reasons the turkey will be carved in a private ceremony. I stress "private" meaning: Do not, under any circumstances, enter the kitchen to laugh at me. Do not send small, unsuspecting children or elderly relatives to check the progress, I have an electric knife. The turkey is unarmed, it stands to reason that I will eventually win. When I do, we will eat.

Now I know you have all seen pictures of one person carving a turkey in front of a crowd of appreciative onlookers. This will not be happening at our dinner table so don't even think of bringing out the cameras for a Norman Rockwell moment. Considering the vast amount of my previously mentioned quality control checks of rum the night before....I cannot guarantee what the turkey will look like. Just eat it.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say that "passing the rolls" is not a football play...nor is it a request to knock other diners in the head with warm tasty bread. If you pass a roll & it hits the floor, it becomes the property of the dogs. Don't try to take it away from them. Losers are weepers, finders are keepers & the dogs will insist upon being the keepers. Please, don't forget this most important Dog Rule.

One reminder for the adults: For the duration of the meal,
& especially while in the presence of certain young diners, we will refer to the giblet gravy by its lesser-known name of Cheese Sauce. If a young diner questions you regarding the origins or type of Cheese Sauce, plead ignorance or tell them to ask the dogs opinion. The dogs will happily
sample it & convince any doubters that it is as tasty as any cheese sauce ever created.

There is one last change to our dinner. Instead of offering a choice between 12 different scrumptious desserts, we will be serving the traditional pumpkin pie garnished with whipped cream & cat paw prints. You will still have a choice - take it or leave it.

Awww Trisha and Bill..what a lovely looking couple you are!

Donna, as I had said, you're truly SI's Christmas miracle.

That's a funny piece, Linda! Bet the dogs were looking forward to New Year's feast!

Susan, you must not have been conscious of your singing, and just let go for Him. Amen for the His Spirit giving you a great gift of hitting those notes!

You all know how much we wanted a new 'paltop'. Well, with so much other necessities that forced us to forgo that plan, I thought we won't have a paltop till next year.
One kind sistah remembered my wish, and sent Santa with a brand new paltop!
Hehehe.. thank you sistah! Kel says he'll use a toothpick as his big fingers can't manipulate the keys!!

editted to add:

Today, for the first time ever, we went to our DAUGHTER’S home instead of having the kids all come to mine. She was stressing out because we didn’t have FIRM PLANS for the day, we were pretty much winging it. Mostly because my plans to hold a family brunch were falling through due to lack of interest on the part of extended family. Ah, yes, my folks now have such an active social life at their new independent living apartment that they didn’t plan on spending any time with us! LOL Still, Dear Daughter was freaking out and taking me to task for not being more organized. (like that’s ever likely to happen at my age)

So I repeated for her the sermon from the midnight candlelight service we’d been to. Told her about how Christmas started. How a teenaged girl had an unplanned pregnancy. She’d never even been with a boy, she just got this unplanned angel visit telling her she was having a child. Joseph, an older dude, was betrothed to her, which, in those days was everything marriage was except the having sex part, finds out his beloved appears to have been cheating on him. Back in those days, that meant he’d already paid a dowry for the girl, so her stepping out on him was NOT in his plans, either, otherwise why cough up the dowery? But he was a nice guy, a sweetheart of a fella, real marriage material. He decided to divorce her quietly, then HE gets the unexpected angel visit, too. Talk about screwed up plans.

Then, to make things really messed up, Joseph is ordered to travel to Bethlehem for new taxes. Bummer, but, to make things worse, Mary is heavy with child, no way should she be traveling. But they have to go, so go they do. And like every unexpected trip with a pregnant person, it ends up with an emergency, unplanned delivery far from home and family. Worse yet, there’s no room at the hotel. Not even a bed and breakfast is open. They have the baby in about the equivalent of the back seat of a taxi cab at a taxi hub. And then visitors?!! Dirty shepards, half frozen and scared to death, wondering what the heck is going on. Then some high toney royal types from foreign countries show up. Talk about a hostess nightmare!

So before we think that the Martha Stewarts of this age invented the perfect way to have an organized Christmas, let us all remember that Christmas comes whether we have cleaned the house or set the table, whether or not we’ve cooked a single dish, or prepared any gift to give. It comes because God gave His Son to be Savior of this world. It comes because we were sent the Lamb of God, to save us all. All He asks in return is that we give Him our hearts and our souls. And, if you think about it, a little awe would be in order, too, every time you hear a choir singing “Gloria.”

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS – AND TO ALL A SAFE JOURNEY HOME.

I will never be accused of being Organized!

If you are traveling, be safe.... I hope everyone had as wonderful a Christmas as we have had. We are all full and exhausted, have a fire going, a drink of choice in hand and are watching the new Harry Potter that Sage got for Christmas.

A good night to all.

Raleigh, NC

LOL was up past 3am drinking spiked eggnog, watching "It's a Wonderful Life" and wrapping presents for the stockings.

So what are some of y'all's family traditions for Christmas/Hanukah, etc.??

We've got something of a family tradition just for Randall. He was a bachelor far from home at Christmas from age 18 to 39. He loves going to a new movie Christmas night, so now we try to do that. We just got back.

We opened stockings and gifts this morning. Hope (dog) and Faith (kitten) stole the show. Hope seemed to remember about her stocking's holding new goodies. She didn't even let Randall get her knew animal toy out of the stocking before she'd grabbed it and growled, trying to tease him into a game of tug. Faith had the tail ripped off her new toy critter by noon! We dropped in on the folks for a couple minutes. They were on their way to their big Christmas noon dinner. Mom loved the new orchid we brought her. Bevin had us over for a brunch. We cooked gingerbread belgian waffles with cream cheese-citrus topping, bacon, cheese and onion quiche, eggs, bacon strips, and a spinach, carrot, romaine, craisin and gorgonzola salad, served with mimosas. Ruth is on cloud nine because a friend (a boy) called her from his family's gathering in Wilmington. Danny called just a few minutes ago from NY to wish us well. So all my crew is safe and in for the night.

but I'll repeat - let everyone be safe tonight. For us all, and our troops far away. In NC, it's been raining since around 2a.m. Now, it's so foggy out that travel is scary.

Wonder and miracle! We found a camera battery charger when cleaning up for Cookie-Geddon. And I discovered that taking photos of a new kitten, who does not like camera flash, is NOT easy....

Good Evening Ladies,
I was up and to my daughter's by 6:30 this morning and they were still sleeping. Didn't wake them up though as they had been up late because of Christmas with in-laws. So mom and I just sat in the living room for about 1/2 hour then my grandson woke up and got the rest of the family up. When Taylor saw the big box for her of cours she wanted to open it first, but we made her wait until last. She played with the dollhouse all day long. Later during the evening when I was doing dinner dishes she came to me and said "Thank You Very Very Much for the doll house" She LOVED IT ^_^!!!!! Will post pix tomorrow, I'm too pooped to pop. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and didn't over eat, lol.

Here's a good laugh

Three Men on a Hike

Three men were hiking through a forest when they came upon a large raging, violent river. Needing to get to the other side, the first man prayed: "God, please give me the strength to cross the river."

Poof! ... God gave him big arms and strong legs and he was able to swim

Across in about 2 hours, having almost drowned twice.

After witnessing that, the second man prayed: "God, please give me strength and the tools to cross the river"

Poof! ... God gave him a rowboat and strong arms and strong legs and he was able to row across in about an hour after almost capsizing once.

Seeing what happened to the first two men, the third man prayed:

"God, please give me the strength, the tools and the intelligence to cross

The river"

Poof! ... He was turned into a woman. She checked the map, hiked one

Hundred yards up stream and walked across the bridge.
