Cute picture

I ditched (?) the cowl and am back to doing scarfs. It looked funny when I tried it on my DM.

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

oo oo oo he is sooo adorable! and so very tiny on that horse. Looks like a very good way to spend the day.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

MissJestr, your Billy is the cutest thing going. What a joy he obviously is to you!

Dartmouth, NS(Zone 6a)

MissJestr, those pictures are ADORABLE!!! and I totally agree with you on that wonderful feeling of a job well done after a chore like would spitting, I also can't wait till my kids are old enough to learn, for now, they help shovel the driveway and feed and water the chickens. They get so much joy from such accomplishments - of course learning that kind of work ethic makes stronger better people, more self reliant too :-)

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

Billy has the cutest smile! It's awesome he has such a great lifestyle to live and learn about.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

MzJestr, I always kept laying pellets out for my hens year round. They always slow down in winter, but that helps. My grandmother used to parch corn and give it to them while it was hot! Didn't help to get more eggs, but I bet they were warmer!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Great pics MissJ - you look like you're both having a super time. But....where is all the snow?!?! LOL...

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

LOL you got it all... That was so not fair.. I wanted some.
Ohhh new sulk... Sulking for Snow???

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

I will sulk for teh perfect snow storm... I will sit in my little chair & pout. staring out teh window, freezing to death & glaring at the sunshine & blue sky waiting on my snow. My poor sled will be sitting by the door.. all lonely & sad.. bc it has no snow. I haven't had a white birthday in least 10 yrs... i'm due for one. Give me snow! Its nto my bday or christmas without SNOW.

:)

Lodi, United States

And you thought you couldn't sulk, greykyttyn!

You're a natural!

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

when it comes to snow.. yes. but that's not sulking.. that's pouting. that would ahve gotten my rear blistered when i was a kid.. & not let to set a toe out the door when it did snow.

Lodi, United States

Pouting generally contains large amount of whingey ectoplasm---spiritual energy that can be transformed into high grade sulkiness.

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

oooo :o)

Clarkson, KY

beauty!! maybe there is a place in my world for science...At least chemistry, lol...

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Batflower, our kids always had chores growing up - feeding the rabbits or sheep, taking care of horses, helping with wood back when we would rent a logsplitter for the weekend and spend the whole two days making a huge pile for the upcoming winter, mowing grass, stacking bales of hay, putting up garden produce - and today both have a terrific work ethic. Even when they were younger they could always find jobs and were great employees - responsible and hard-working. Since they were both adopted and have totally different backgrounds I have to say that it was nurture and not nature that accomplished that. I think giving kids chores is the best present you can offer to them!

MissJester said for me to come and check out her pink boots LOL i like the hat too
looking good lady !
if only Carthart would come up with pink coveralls and insulated bibs. I would be in heaven
back to regular programing

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oh Taynors you are so right on with that! I totally want pink insulated coveralls or even ones with fun patterns like jumping sheep and dancing goats. Why do they have to be so boring. Maybe we should start a business.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

You could buy up Carharts and embroider them! There's a cottage industry for you, How cool would THAT be - in all your spare time, Claire!

oooohhhh that would be cool
they do have the little rinestone iron on i put on my dd's jeans , i could do some of them on my coveralls ! so creative you folks are !

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Ooooh, I could do needle felted sheep on them!

HI my name is Taynors ..... and ...... i m ......*sniff* ....... art and craft challenged :( ..." whew", there. i said it . Isn't that the first step to recovery ?

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

But Taynors, can you bake? Remember, under the rules, you can be a supporting auxiliary baking member....!!!

bake ? yes
good baker ... :(

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Excellent! Taynors you see, rule Subsubpart A1ab-sub-c below, allows you to have an auxiliary role even if you are not an Enabler by means of craftyness. And your little sad pouty face does you well in your sulkitude, I am sure Catscan will agree, since she is the Mistress of the Sulkitude. So you are now officially approved as a member of CHICKSS! Hooray! You can have a baking pom-pom fruit bat fancier title if you like!

Subsubpart A1ab-sub-c: WHEREAS such members exist as defined in Subpart A1, they can be referred to in the following ways, or any combination thereof: Auxiliary Members, Supporting Members, Peanut Gallery Members, Baking Members, Pom-Pom Cheering Squad Members, Fruit Bat Fancier Members, or any other term agreed upon by the member as deemed suitable by the whole.

Clarkson, KY

LOL!! Nicely done, tay!! And Moxy!! heh...

Lodi, United States

Well that is all fine, Moxon, and I do agree that taynors should be a supporting auxiliary baking member, and that she shows great promise in the discipline of sulking...HOWEVER, I do not think that she should be baking fruit bats, pom pommed or otherwise.

As I explained before, importation of fruit bats and all fruit bat products is illegal due to the deadly Nipah virus. And as a scientist and student of law, you should not need to be reminded of this.

Sheesh!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

As you should know, dear Catscan, "Fruit Bat Fancier" means one who fancies fruit bats, and not one who necessarily imports them. You can fancy them from afar. And anyway, nobody bakes fruit bats unless they are shortbread representations thereof, which is highly recommended to support the cause of education on the Nipah virus, since it gives you an opportunity to discuss it with your friends and family as they munch on buttery fruit bat representations. So there!

Lodi, United States

I see very little ethical improvement in baking fruit bat fanciers over the fruit bats themselves, Moxon--indeed I was giving you the benefit of the doubt in assuming the latter.

On a more practical level--pom poms should always be added halfway through the baking process as they burn easily. Especially the sugared ones.

Clarkson, KY

{{drat!! where'd I put my pom-poms?!}}

Clarkson, KY

lolol!! that, my friend was most perfectly cross-posted!! Hah!!

Lodi, United States

It is an art:0)

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Ohhh she vexes me so. I shall off to study torts, especially since she hasn't responded to the naiad question. Pbbbt!

Saint Matthews, SC(Zone 8a)

My name is Beth and I would like to put in application to become a sulker. I have LOTS and LOTS of yarns, but I make plastic canvas creations with it! However, I can cook and bake and would love to have sockies or footies. Would this problems and short-comings throw me out? I have no horses, donkeys, llamas or sheep, but I do have chickens. Pleeeeeeeeeeze let me be a sulker

Saint Matthews, SC(Zone 8a)

PS: I am also geneologically connected to the nut tree - daylilynut, perennialnut, nutingeneral - from a long line of generalnuts.

Lodi, United States

It sounds like you are ideal applicant wingsandblooms--have you read the by-laws? Moxon, of course, must make the final decision, having unilaterally taken unto herself that privilege---however I can see no problem.

Let us just wait till she gets over her spat of ill will and returns, penitent, to our woolly fold.

Saint Matthews, SC(Zone 8a)

I have been sitting here reading for the last hour and a half - and my ribs are hurting! My throat has become dry - I may need a "fix" of mocha coffee or hot spiced tea with ginger and honey and a cinnamon stick.

Clarkson, KY

Oh that we all should be so 'fixed'!!! lolol! Welcome!
