Offical Muffler Sulking Section (and other Various Chatter)

Clarkson, KY

There really ought to be a list on a different thread. I'd like to try Dahlin's and g_g's...possibly also that divester of demi divinity as well. I have a theory... And who besides Dahl's wanted sparkley??

Had a worrisome flash this a.m. -not entirely sure I can keep my mouth shut long enough to sulk!! Yeouch!!

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Sparkley or non-sparkley, either way. My GD may refuse to be seen with me (she doesn't like Peruvian hats with flaps, either, so I was warned to wear my beret instead yesterday!) but I care not. Either way, I will continue to sulk. In fact, that's a good reason to do so! SULK! My GD doesn't like my headgear! POUT!

Richmond, TX

I think general grumbling is permitted, even recommended, whilst sulking. So if your mouth won't stay, shut grumble a bit.

Clarkson, KY

phew....

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

oooooo Thank you LoreenH!!!!

:( its spitting snow.. 5000 flakes an hr. I am going to sit here grumbling & pouting about the fact its not snowing enough while i work. (is that sulking?)

Clarkson, KY

sounds sufficiently cranky for most purposes, ;)!!

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

We don't have snow here, it's just dang cold! We broke a low temp record this AM, it was 14F. Coldest since 1972.

My husband's aunt lives kind of near you, she's in LaRussell. She told us she does not appreciate the cold weather we sent her....lol.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

I think if a Pout is involved it definitely qualifies as a Sulk. Grumbling, while not necessary, is often a good indicator as well.

Grownut, if I offer my most humble and sincere thanks, does that compromise the requisite status of Sulking? I promise I can proffer my gratitude most speedily and then immediately if not sooner return to a full-blown Pout. A nutty NWD would be a priceless belonging and would be cherished forever!

Clarkson, KY

Well....whatever I manage to produce...will be nutty...lol!!

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

My cousin lives nere you in Portland then I've got one in Scio also. :) They don't appreciate the cold either.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I almost hate to tell y'all that is is in the mid 70's here in Florida.

I am off to try to mail Billy's NWD again-get almost to the post office and realized that I had not put a address on it. Now if I can find my brain.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm so glad I stumbled over this thread! I needed cheering up! I used to crochet, but old Arthur got my hands! I missed out on the socks, sure wish I had some on right now, my feet are cold! I also used to raise chickens! They loved me!
Could I join the CHICKSS, too? I'll sulk for a muffler, or whatever you want to call it! I'm goooood at sulking! I'm easy to please on color, I like all bright colors, or pastels! I'm going to watch this thread, but I'm not quick enough or smart enough to keep up with all of you!

LOL Wren, I am wondering where my brain is as well. I know I bought a Big slab of bacon the good kind, but this morning I can not find it anywhere.. I even went out to the truck twice and looked. I so wanted bacon and (Gulp) eggs this morning... UGGGGGGG

today Billy and I are enjoying a day off, we are going to do chores around the house, I took the day off. I found an old plastic bath tub that has one side knocked out, we are going to put it in the duck are for them to get under if the want..

Billy might ride today, if I can knock off the ton of mudd that Cheif collected. Oh and hand up outdoor lights so the NDW fairy can find me...

Sulk Sulk...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Billy's MWD is on it's way.

Doe I am making a cowl in multi colors so sulk away.

Now I might sulk because I have no Flan, darn I need to learn to cook. LOL

Clarkson, KY

Indeed! Welcome to the Sulky Side, Doe!! Join in! The more the Sulkier....

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Excellent Doe! We are pleased to have you!

We have just come in from finishing a sheep shelter. The frame had been put up earlier in the fall, but no sides. Here I am doing the funky chicken dance on the back porch. Yeah, the porch that is semi-protected from snowfall. Yes, that's right, and it's up to my knees....

and here is the sheep shelter, finished, or at least as finished as it'll be for today!!

I am just returned from a much less snowy but highly satisfying nonetheless foray into YARN WORLD!! Raw materials for two lush and sparkly NWDs and one of the subtile and sublime description...now off to k-nit some k-nots~~~~~~~~~~~~~~❋

Clarkson, KY

Loreen, Beth, Claire, Jay...myself...who else has yet to receive muffling, er, NWD offers???

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Billy has his NWD coming, it is in the mail... It would be unlady like for me to expect another. I cant be an enabler, so I shall now change my status to a supportive sulker, holiday cookie maker and right now a reallly smelly duck caretaker.

Billy and I went out and cleaned both duck ponds of Ice then I decieded they needed clean water, and so I scrubbed them out, refilled them. Used the old bath tub turned upside down and placed rocks on there so the wind would not carry it away. I hope that if they feel the need to get out of the elements, they will waddle under there... I just dont know.
The chickens got fresh water as well.... Still no eggs...

Cheif is romping and stomping in the arena, driving the girls mad... Billy is eating his lunch then he will take a nap. He will ride after that... While he is napping, I will be weather proffing the inside of the house...
All in all it has been the most wonderful morning..

Claire, thanks for sharing the snow pictures, it would be so fun to play in...

Lodi, United States

I am dedicated to providing ZZ a NWD--however in time I might be able to make others, if assigned. However, I do also have that intransigent daytime light-foot frans to consider.

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

I, too, should be able to make another after I finish Kyttyn's, just as long as it's not needed before Christmas. No guarantee there.

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

OH.. I went out... brrrrrrr, has to be 70 mile an hour winds.. I am not a tiny woman and it was blowing my feet out from under me. I took warm water out for everyone, while I was walking out to the field I realized one of the gallons of water didn't have a lid.. it was splashing in my face... there was so much wind and tiny sleet I didn't even know I was wet.. now I have these little red marks all over my face.. redder and spottier than the regular wind burn.. It was SOOO cold.. and I was dressed for the cold.
Everybody seems to be okay.. stupid chickens won't take my advice and go behind a wind break.. they are just all gathered in the wind.. I fed them in the windbreak... but NOOOO they had to go back out.

I guess it is december after all.. why is this weather a surprise to us??

Clarkson, KY

I find it rather worrisome that Claire has yet to sulk...she's threatened all manner of wild behaviour [u] but I don't recall a sulk...

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

You know Grow.. I had not thought of that.. do you think it's because she's the one that flaunted the divine fiber then socks first.. she inticed us all to sulk..

Should we worry about her.. or envy her, tis the question..?

Clarkson, KY

Not entirely sure...but what with all the studying and snow and all...I rather suspect a flanny fibery conniption at any moment...

Lodi, United States

I don't think they are mutually exclusive.....

She didn't sulk before because she was the original possessor of the sulked for object.

Envy.

But she might envy all the lovely NWD that others will eventually receive.

Therefore, Sulk.

Clarkson, KY

hmmm....ponderous ponderings.....

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Right, well you see, I am stuck in the house today because they haven't even come to clear our roads yet and it will probably be a while. I get to play with sheep whenever I want though, so how could I possibly sulk? Well, I sulk about my exams, that's for sure. Torts on Monday. Ugh.

Can somebody be really sweet and compile a list of all the NWD sulkers and their desires?

Loreen, I refer you to Subsubpart B267-a with regard to timing: (i.e. no worries)
Subsubpart B267-a: WHEREAS no member shall expect any neck warming device to be delivered upon any particular schedule, all members shall appreciate any neck warming device no matter its date of arrival, even if it is to be worn in the next appropriate season, which may not be this particular season, since some of the Enabler members are slow knitters and crocheters, and since the knitting and crocheting of all neck warming devices is done out of the goodness of their hearts and not on a tight schedule.

{{And don't forget the wondrous hat, perhaps its receipt is keeping her wary. Actually, I suppose it should be referred to as a "hat system" - daunting as it is.}}}

lol. THAT, porkpal, may be a key factor...

lemme see bout that list...Catsy and I between us...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

The hat in that picture by the way, is an Aran hat made for me by a lady in Ireland. It is very very warm and good for outdoor work. Despite its pom pom.

Clarkson, KY

done -the list thus far:

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1061787/

...I'm sure I've forgotten several...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I am almost half way finished the "hood cowl" that I am working on and I have enough yard to make a number of scarfs

MissJestr you are also titles to a NWD.

Clarkson, KY

I'm a foot in to my first NWD...

Dartmouth, NS(Zone 6a)

sorry for the lack of sulking, If had a crazy few days. It all started with a giant snow storm that's been going on for 3 days now. First, we get totally snowed in and then, HORROR, we run out of heating oil. Now, our tank holds 950 gallons of oil and its been working for less then a month. There is no logical reason why the oil would be out. We bought our house in June and it was one of the conditions that the previous owners verify that the furnace was in perfect working order. They were to have it inspected, and the tank filled. We think "no problem, its just passed an inspection, someone will come fill it" WRONG! in fine print at the bottom of the inspection it states that though the furnace was in ok condition, and passed the inspection, it may not be filled again until it is cleaned and inspected again. The soonest that someone can come clean and inspect it again is 2 weeks away. So, for now, luckily we have a wood stove that works well and is keeping us warm enough. I do wish I had a divine scarf to keep my neck cozy indoors.......sulk sulk

Today, day 3 of said snowstorm. The roof over one of my runs collapsed and buried 3 roosters. It took me the best part of today to dig them out (they were cold, but unharmed)

at least my girls are laying well anyway, and I think I'll try to make us some home made egg nog to drink by the fire tonight.

I'll probably be sulking less then I should online for the next few days, (but I'll make sure to check in) hope my little rant has made up for some of the missed sulking :-)

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Thanks so much Wren, I am use to standing second to young Billy. He is always my first thought... Then comes the horses, chickens, ducks, dogs and cat...Whew I am in the back of a lovely line... (Know something..) I would not trade it for a zillion Flans and Jays DDDCEP**P**....
Its up to the CHICKSS

I am thinking that our Dear Fran would look Simply Divine in your head cowl...

Sorry to hear about that Bat, glad to hear you have a wood burner. BYB(Before Young Billy) I lived up in the mountains where my only source of heat was a wood burner, I loved cutting and stacking the wood. Sometimes I miss that, and look forward to the day I can teach Billy how to chop wood, someday I will have a fireplace again and he will know the satisfaction of a job well done when he see's the wood chopped and stacked ready for winter.. (Yep I am strange, but I belive working strong makes a better person, and I am thinking I want him to have a strong work ethic) .
Billy is sound asleep, stew is on, dishes and fridge is cleaned out in anticipation of more room needed for flan. Caulking is up on the wall, and on me as well, but a big airhole has been plugged up... Might not look so professional, but well it is white and will blend in.

Lodi, United States

batflower--as long as you log your sulking hours, they count, whether on-line or not. Just make sure to check in occasionally, so that you have documentation.

Without it, frans would be footless.

I haven't made an official assessment, but it looks like you have a very significant amoung of latent sulking to your credit already.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

MissJ - it is best not to apply caulk to your own airholes. It can impede with breathing. I suggest you remove it. Just my 2 cents.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Batflower - what a rotten time you have been having. Definitely I would say that there has been much sulking going on in your life these past few days. You are in very good company. It's dang cold here and we had chickens stuck in one of our outdoor coops and we could not get the door open to let them out because the snow was drifted all around it. finally I had to crawl in the doorway (not pretty) and hand them out to Kelly and he put them in the barn.
