Well this article says they eat the pollen sometimes, or stamens, but not petals. And nothing at all about dahlias. So I think you're safe. See?

bats are cute from afar...the one this past summer which landed on my chest and slid all warm and fuzzy into my cleavage, however, was less than welcome...

My zumba was cancelled last night on account of the dreadfulness of the blizzard and no roads being cleared. Sigh.
I didn't hear about the bat in the cleavage story but it does sound very entertaining, especially since you didn't get rabies. Do give us more of the circumstance! How delightful! I once went to a museum program on bats with a man who had 3 of them that were trained with a whistle and they all went into a velvet bag on his wrist. I was able to hold one and it was quite lovely and soft.
Brother, daughter and I were walking home from the parents' place at dusk....bats flying all around. I gave a high pitched laugh which may have consternated one of the poor things. It proceeded to fly straight into me, landing at the base of my v-neck T with a nice warm smack and thence sluthering downward, til it recovered and took itself off...

I desire my bats to stay featly and fittingly in the cunning little bat houses we made for them; they can go find their own cleavages, thankyouverymuch. Grow, I'm amazed that you retained your wits sufficiently to be able to report so traumatic an experience!!!!

Bats are not cute when they are attaching themselves to your pony tail out of need of a place to perch in a cave that's way tooo small for both you & a bat... Tho i do love watching them fly around at night in teh summer time.
sorry.. won't be posting much for a few days... mom had surgery today. it was.. icky. did not turn out well. I'm sulking for snow & other such wonderous things mentioned on this thread tho here all by my lonesome. :(
