Postalling is so complex!!! ps remember this when yarnaged and pompomed things start descending from the north. Who knows where they may go?

Whereas the latest from Carhartt on the Pink Line...
Monday, November 23, 2009 by Carhartt Blogger:
We currently offer one women's coat (style WC061 Sandstone Ridge Coat) and two women's jackets (WJ141 Sandstone Sierra Jacket and WJ097 Sandstone Detroit Jacket) in color Vintage Rose, which is a shade of pink. We are currently revamping our Kids' Line, which will contain many more products geared towards girls. This new line will be available in January 2010. However, January is when we launch our Spring/Summer products; therefore, a sweatshirt will be the heaviest top available in pink. Please check back with Carhartt in May or June, as that is when our Fall/Winter products are released.

Well. Harrumph. I am returned. Tortified.
MissJ - excellent research on the Carhartt matter. I believe we should barrage them with emails asking for pink and teal and chartreuse coloured insulated coveralls, with optional sheep decorations. Perhaps it would impress upon them our seriousness.
Dahlia dearest, The post office, even though they do try to deliver the mail on time (sometimes) are not mind readers. How did you imagine they would deliver your package without an address to which it was to be sent? That is most bebaffling to me. And how on earth did it get out of your hands and into theirs without an address. Canada Post has seriously got something to answer for here!
Wingsandblooms...what colour are your wings? Are they fairy wings or more like unicorn wings? I've been looking for a good pair of fairy wings myself. I prefer sparkly. We would be delighted to have you as a member of CHICKSS, but as to the sock question, it does clearly violate one of the rules, but the ultimate decision on that is up to Catscan, because she purports herself to be the sock goddess you see.
{{{thoughtfully eating another fruit bat shortbread}}}
A most excellent find MissJ. I shall have to order some for spring. Sadly, at this time of year, capri length overalls are about as useful as flip flops, in terms of keeping warm. My dark brown insulated coveralls did keep me very toasty warm when I was building the sheep shelter. So, I do take warmth over colour when it comes to minus 25 F wind chills like we had today....
I am so there with you Cmoxon, right now I am in my insulated coveralls from the time my feet hit the floor in the am until I leave for work. They are not acceptably for work attire. But if they were...
I am thinking I need a pair of them for spring, I can always tuck them in my barn boots..
I do no such thing, Moxon!
"Sock Goddess" was a title bestowed on me due to my many kind acts of pedal enshroudment. Indeed, a title which you yourself crafted without my input or agreement.
How quickly they forget and turn upon one.....
However, ZZ, who is most gracious and appreciative, may be glad to learn that due to an extremely boring and lengthy CE meeting on pesticide application this morning, I am now over 36" into her NWD. And have purchased glass beads with which to embellish (how I hate that word) the ends in addition to fringe--a veritable blitzkrieg of adornment!
Dear Claire the fault was mine for not specifying 'express goose'. I popped it (not be confused with the poppingnuts who mostly dance but rarely postal) into the red box because it fit throught the slot. I do find that things slathered with postal stickies popped through the slot in the red box often get where they are destined. What is bemusing (munching on a green pepperminty creamcheese chocholate drizzled treat) is that I popped this through the slot one and half weeks ago. Where has it been? Did it aimlessly travel around in trucks all this time? Was it left in the box as unworthy? And why have I got it back at all? In an emergency situation where the gift has to get the giftee by a certain date (of which this is a 9-1-1 for sure) the minor detail of the missing giftee's address was of lesser import and could have been resolved by merely using express goose. There twouldn't have been a problem I'm sure if it had been turned over to a goose.
ZZ Where is she?!?!? Is she here???
Fine, I perhaps misspoke. Catscan does not purport herself to be a sock goddess. Although she is one. She has been deified as such by the group as a whole. Yes, she has. And so, in order for the rule to be broken, she would have to make the final call. Which I can then approve, with a sort of officious tone, much like the Queen approves of the decisions of Parliament in Canada (she has yet to disapprove of any of them). It's just a sort of token approval thing.
ZZ's scarf sounds divine also. Despite your harassment of me over the fruit bat matter.
Oh now I see Dahlia dear. We mustn't de-goose the mail. That would not do at all. I'm rather interested in your chocolate cream cheese minty thingamadoodle. Could you elaborify for us?
p.s. I have a Canada Goose in my flock. It came from a friend whose dog carried it out of the woods as a gosling and it had a dog-tooth-punctured back. Dreadful. I adopted it. Its name is Goosle. It hasn't laid an egg yet so I don't know whether it is Mr. Goosle or Ms. Goosle (rhymes with Moosle, another great Canadian beast).
Poor little Goosle :( The chocholate creamcheese minty thingamadoodles were given to me. They are the shape of your little finger and minty green and drizzled with dark chocolate. They taste like a combo of sugar cookie and cream cheese but alas it is probable that they do not contain an egg.
Well, there is some difficulty in the sockie/footie department {{{g_g, put your hand down at once!}}}.
I believe in the future we may re-examine the foot glove initiative. Notices will be sent out and a registry started. At which time, certain members who, through innocence or guile, have been attempting to wrangle unauthorized sockies, may rise to the top of the agenda. So far as I can remember that would include, the innocent wingsandblooms, and the less innocent, but still worthy, Jay, g_g and greykyttyn.
frans has been grandfathered in under the "I was cruelly overlooked despite my honourable entitilement" clause.
The others must wait for the close of the NWD season--unless someone with extra yarn and endless time wishes to do a deal under the DG table....but such should be reported to....um, I believe that would be grow? Moxon can you clarify?
i m honored to be a part of your memebership :)
as for fruit bat baking , i do find a good fruit bat pie is a wonderful addition to any Honey Baked Ham.
I sure hope your package gets to the right addy. Yes chocolate is a wonderful way to deal with the postal folks. Works here in my town .
MissJester them are some right nice capri coveralls .
The Carthart Dusty Rose is not a true pink, Its a mauve color IMHO . I do love the color and like the stuff they have. Unfortunatley they don't do Tall sizes in shirts, pants and sweaters :( i m vewy vewy sad . I got me some loooong arms . i hate that .
good to know on the kids stuff ! awesome !
today is -2 outside . vewy vewy coold outside .
'Tis a problem, I know, living where scarfs and mufflers are not really needed - I am most dismayed, but 'tis not a situation I can rectify. My tootsies, however, remain frigid most of the time so sockies are truly a good thing! We are shivering now as we think of tomorrow morning and Saturday morning lows of 28 and 29 degrees and highs of 44-48, and I must go to our local flea market and try to make another few dollars in weather such as that. Alas, we GRITS are rather spoilt?! :)
SULK! SULK! SULK!
(But I baked 9 eggnog pound cakes yesterday in loaf pans. :)
I will second that. It was almost 80 yesterday but now the temps are dropping down to the basement -thought I have only seen on basement here in north Florida-something to do with to high a water table.
I think I need a serving of fried grits.
{{{But...but....but}}} Forsooth I lay claim to no socks, authorized or unauthorized, in this thread or others. I did but look on longingly as socks flew hither and yon to far worthier Sulkers than I. In truth, I own to feeling a bit sheepish (lanolin and all) at being on the receiving end of NWDs (or CCAs, if one is of a francophone persuasion) since I have no yarnage skills to offer to the madly purling and knitting faction of this esteemed collection of stalwart and kindly souls.
My green Peruvian hat arrived today and my granddaughter firmly informed me that I was not to wear it out of the house in her presence, so I am determinedly hoping that the NWD will be of the same ilk such as to bring down the ire of the Granddaughter when I am decked out in it. I am firmly convinced that tweenagers need unsettling from time to time and I never shirk from taking on such onerous tasks. We owe it to the sanity of future generations, we do.
Recipe please...
It is not nice (or safe) to tease the Sulkers....
OH HAND RAISING FOR POUND CAKE!!!!!!
One of my weakens is pound cake!!!!!
Oh my word. 9 eggnog pound cakes. That is surely a worthy activity. Wings....I am sure you will find yourself besockled, it will just take some time on the ever increasing agenda...
In addition, you must understand, those of us dealing with MINUS TWENTY FIVE degree temperatures do have a wee bit of difficulty in generating sympathy for those in errr...more temperate climes.
But we love you, really, we do, we're just mind-numbingly cold. And jealous. Yes.
Two frizzle chicks in a hat. For the full story, see here:

Tell me about it (snort).
Your temps and weather conditions seem to be nearly just like ours here, wren.
OK, new friends, I'll try to get the recipe typed in before Monday night!
Will be making fresh apple cakes and a red velvet with cream cheese frosting within the week (I do extra baking this one time each year and freeze LOTS of stuff to be pulled out later when desired.) The week before Thanksgiving I did 11 pumpkin pies, 6 coconut pies and 6 pecan pies (and all my family - 2 sisters, both parents, 3 grown kids and a 17-year-old grandson - knows this and begin calling and descending on me with hands out the closer it gets to holidays). Alas, the freezer is already nearly bare of desserts and I see the need to restock the baked goods.
One of my best friends that I grew up with since we were toddlers here in the middle of South Carolina married a guy from St. Paul, MN - they were married in SC in early July and she says she knew right away she was in big trouble because her in-laws gave her thermal underwear for a wedding present! LOL
wingsandblooms will you please adopt me and make me fresh pies too? I am very luvly to be with and I will help with all the chores. Thanks muchly.
all 51 acres worth of chores (I just finished bushhogging 20 of those acres in early November) and laundry and dishes, too? Do you pull weeds, too? I'm sure I could fit you in somewhere and find something for you to do. LOL
THUD....
I better sign off for now and go get DH his supper before I start getting called to task! Later, friends.
I'M on my way!!!! Let's see need to load up some P nuts, and citrus must bring gifts when you go to raid--I mean visit friends. Should I bring the demon child---I mean my so sweet doggie to visit.
Moxon! Moxon! Wake up girl! The floor is very cold....Wake up Moxon....Oh dear....
Someone needs to tell wingsandblooms about Moxon and the Pthuds.
I hope Moxie is wearing one of her more cushiony hats....
(rifling around in the closet for bushhogging gear) YES! I do believe I am prepped although I haven't the faintest idea how to bushhog. Dishes-check. Weeds-check. Laundry um er I did have a red sockie with the whites incident once and I don't know how to iron sigh.
mmmm Wren pretty please bring those hushpuppys thingies too. I will bring chocolate, AB beef and mittens. dear Claire you must wake up! The frizzlefrazzlie babies need you!Who has the smelling salts?!?!
In lieu of salts, have Kelly carry her out to the coop and hold her face over the bedding--the ammonia vapours are most invigorating!
