Offical Muffler Sulking Section (and other Various Chatter)
What a gorgeous scarf, Wren! I can't wait to hear what Billy thinks of it. How cool!
That one was quick and easy to whip up. Thought it took me a couple of attempts to figure out what would work
Oh WREN, it is absolutely Wonderful and will be treasured for many years... Oh I am doing the NWD dance for him...He is still tucked in his bed dreaming of happy thoughts no doubt... Oh OH OHHHHH he will be wearing it with PRIDE at his Gynmkana as I am sure it will be very chilly... I will take pictures as soon as he puts it on.
I did offer Cmoxon some horse hair to do with, as my pali sheds something horrible in the spring, I mean if you could weave it it would make a lap blanket for sure.... as for the tails, that does remind me, I need to braid them and sock them for the winter so they will be long come spring... I do have a horsehair key chain that was made from my three horses, it has lasted for a long time. I understand they did use tail hair for thread, although I am thinking that it would be poky at least if it somehow broke.
Ok I need some info. I have started a cowl using the middle yard in picture 3. any one have any idea of how long you need to make one that can also be used as a hood?? I am making up the pattern as I go.
When I get closer to finishing it will take bids on who gets it. I love sweets stuff and chocolate stuff. LOL
There are lots of patterns for them on Lion's Brand. You might try looking at the different lengths there. My guess would be close to 24 inches.. by the time it drapes up & over the head & still has enough for the shoulders. Could be longer.. could be shorter.. but that's my uneducated guess at the moment. I'll see if i can find anything more on it.
Just for the record... no sacrifice of animal is necessary, they are more than happy to donate in the spring [end of taxing year for equids].
And though it would be very prickley and uncomfortable spun into yarn, traditionally it has been felted for blankets. An old cowboy told me to collect this shedding, put it in a burlap sack, spread it out evenly and then put it between your saddle and blanket when you rode. It would felt and you'd end up with a nice horsehair saddle blanket.
Seems like it would be a durable material for booties...
{{{Catscan is a third cousin, twice removed from the exotic, quixotic Macinsania nut family...whether I can find the link...but they DO sparkle most industriously}}}
You are soooooo good with the intrisincicities of our tree Cousin Grownut. I just KNEW it must be so Cousin Catscannut ^_^
It has rather a lovely ring to it, don' it?? Beautifully done as always, Dahlin'!!
Jay - I've heard the same thing about how to make felted horsehair blankets. Is that donkey in foal or fat? I've not seen one shaped like that, at least not from the rear.
CHICKSS - Hello, my name is Loreen and I am a K-Enabler. I have tried a 12-step program but failed miserably....lol. I would post pics of all the yarns I have but it would take me all day just to take the pics. Most of my yarns are blues, purples (lots of purples), varigated blues, greens, purples, I think I have some grays and blacks too. I have bright pink and a pretty red. I know I don't have yellow or orange (like Greykitten, I'm not a citrusy person). I have sparkly silver (and maybe gold) I can add, I also have sparkly beads.

ok this has been driving me nuts since I started reading this forum back in April.. Grownut & Dahlianut.. are you REALLY related or just really good friends? by the way.. i love the names!
..... sparkly silver, sparkly beads...... I'm all shivery now.
Unbelieveable that my honesty would be brought into question over a lushious fibery footie warming device.. I could think of so many other things I could pull the "wool" over the boards eyes about!!
So please board.. review my case:

SOO, I submit my grandfather (err mothers) rights to pre-empt these rules. I agree to stand at my place in line... but I reserve my rights as the ORIGINAL sulker!
I even created the rules for sulking: Post #6717388
"com-on... sulking 101.. sitting on floor legs crossed staring at enlarged window of sunglass envoked handmade marshmellow footie gloves. Head in hand, drool dripping.. no talking allowed.. just sulking.. one must stay in that position until they become enthrawald with another subject or shiny object."

Loreen... Yay!!! Welcome... the first step is to acknowledge you are powerless over your addiction! Very Good! Well Done!
The second step is to make lotz and lotz of NWD with beads and sparkleys for CHICKSS.
We're there for you.... :-D
That is a fat A$$, he is not pregnant. Donkeys firmly believe that Famine could happen at any moment, and it's best to Be Prepared...
Hope for the Best and Prepare for the Worst!
thanks for the info.
fran may be the 'Sulker Emeritas'...
she's very old... er... I mean, ah... well seasoned in this topic...
Exam Finished. Moxon Relieved until the next one (Tuesday).
Wren - AWESOME job - you are such a trooper! Billy is a very lucky boy. Well, he's already lucky to have Roseane, but now he has Auntie Wren taking care of him too!
All applications to join CHICKSS thus far posted on this board are hereby officially approved. WHEREAS I have appointed myself official approver. La!
Fran - you have presented an excellent case and thoroughly relevant and convincing EVIDENCE. How apt that this should be on the day of my EVIDENCE exam. Fran gets special dispensation for socks in this current sulk because she was, heretofore, inadvertently overlooked.
Loreen, we are so excited to have you join us in this sulk and as a K-Enabler! Way to go!!!
With regard to family trees, do I have any relation to the nut clan or am I entirely removed?
I don't think you can ever be 'entirely removed' from the Nut Fam but Cousin Grownut will know for sure. I believe once you are a nut you cannot be plucked off the tree except for Great-Great-Great Cousin Weinerbrainnut who I believe Cousin Grownut has simply sealed off in a tree knot. Of coursely all his descendants are still attached but we are careful to refer to ourselves as brainnuts not weinerbrainnuts. I am a descendent on the brainnut side, being a Rocket Scientist.
I"M APPROVED OF!!!
Oh! my delight knows no bounds... someone approves of me.
My life can go on...
I know I am not on the nut tree... I'm more from the root side of the family...
And you, dear Claire, are from the sheep nut branch. =0)
GASP! There is a sheep nut branch?! How did I not know this? DAHLIA!!!! How could you not tell me about the sheep nut branch? Is it in a sealed knot also? I definitely am not a weinerbrain, being almost a lawyer and all....although that doesn't compare to rocket scientist....
Dnut has been busy picking dingle berries and fermenting them... she's just a bit distracted at the moment, methinks. Or perhaps she is not as familiar with the wooleybrained branches...
=0)
sheepnuts, llamanuts, ducknuts, horseynuts.... we are a humungous pile of mixed nuts which is why Cousin Grownut has the very important, official position of being the Keeper of the Nut Family Tree. O and Cousin Adopt-a-Nut is off somewhere busily working on adopting inanimate things into the Fam. Adopt-a-Nut is one of my fav cousins although I don't hear from him much. He is on Cousin Grownut's side of the family being into rocks.
You mean I might be a Donkeynut rather than a Pnut?
That'd be a mixed blessing if ever there was one....
Could be a donkeynut. Do you leeeeeeean mostly twards donkeys? or are you perchance a plantnut like me and Nutsfordaylilys? Sometimes we are descended from more than one branch so you could be BOTH a donkeynut and a Pnut.
kyttyn -the relation is entirely in the DG name, lol...Dahls concluded one day that we must be cousins!
The Moxons, I believe, are Sheepish Nuts -not entirely related nor unrelated to the standard Sheepy Nuts. There are definite indications of Knitknot Nut lineage as well, as that line tends to display fabrical or legal proclivities. {{Need I say more!!}} And I've heard rumours [u] that there is a pethud skeleton somewhere in the closet, which would go a good way towards explaining a somewhat over sensitive reaction...
Adopt-a-nut is a bit of a black sheep.....!?!.............!!.........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~❋
I've gone and dug around in my family photo album/seed box and I have discovered my daddy's side of the family is solidly in the Cornnut lineage...
hence my confusion about the Pnut gallery family.
I had a shivery foreboding that frans was in the right on this one....although since she did not inadvertantly reveal her footle dimensions, how was one to accomodate her?
Indeed the problem remains.....
It is such a joy to have found the remnants of my Nut Family! I believe mine were hardshell Contrarians, who forsook rocket science to marry into the Mulish side of the Nuts. First Cousins actually....which explains why they lost touch with the rest of the Nut clan and most of reality.
Has grownut been able to draw up a family tree? Or perhaps a geneological song to help us keep it all straight?
I must be related too!! I'm a Yarn/Knitnut and next year will be a Ducknut!
Oooooh! The footie dimensions!!! Left out! Oooooh, shame!!!
Do we need neckie dimensions? I should say not.
In my post exam exuberance (mixed with the dreadful weather and a glass of...err...frivolity), I have commenced a NWD. It is pink, highly soft and fluffy, and quite wide, ergo, very snuggly and warm. I am not yet sure if I erred in my colour choice. It's quite bold. It's just that I was tickled pink at the completion of the evidence exam and all in the snuggle mood with the big snowstorm outside...
I think you mean a Quacked Nut, Loreen. =0) Then definitely you're related!
What do you get when you cross a Cornnut with a Donkeynut?
Ooo, pretty, Claire.
ROFLMBO...... Oh the strange looks from co workers...
Jay, Since I know I have not a beautiful tree on my place, at first glance I thought that was you brushing out Miss Gracie... She is big in a way but the hair on the ground was the kicker. She is like that every year. PS she has been known to be a Jack A$$ at times, gotten a few bruises from her...
Now you have me interested in a horse hair blanket, might just have to try it this spring.
All this nut talking has me hankering for some JDDDCEP**P**
In all seriousness--very little mention has been made of the sulking aspect of this quest--I am afraid people are becoming a little too lax in thinking they will get a lovely NWD when they have done nothing but ask for it.
Those who received foot adornment in the past put in long, arduous hours sulking and eating flan. They were the pioneers of the Sulk and their memory should be honoured by those who come behind.
It IS a lovely pink, Moxon---I admired it just the other day at Joanne's but they had too little to make more than cravat---although that would be cheery.....
I am afraid to consider Jay's question in depth. Angels fear.....
You're putting yersef in purty hi-toned company there, Cat... =0)
Com'on, dare ya... What do you get?
I would gladly be a sulking mentor if any feel the need.My experience and subsequent success speaks for itself.
Jay the obvious answer is a Maisenassnut. Highly valued.
Jay is obviously unaware of my tinkling, silvery bell-like laugh, which many have likened to the sound of angels weeping....
I will not go there.....
