HI Everyone
Flower I can't help it if it's dark when I get up most days I go to bed early after working hard on my crochet projects and need my beauty sleep. Of course since I go to bed early I also get up early. We currently have cold and sunshine. possible snow showers after midnight tonight but another cold sunny day tomorrow.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Ready for Spring.
RRM

Yep, we are suppose to get snow mix tomorrow morning too. hehehe Not going to be just snow nor stick but at least will get to see the white stuff. Woo hoo.

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Robin... package went out late morning... hopefully by Tuesday. Do let me know when it arrives.

Hey you guys, I was wondering if you could help me figure what a couple plants are. I got them when I first started trading and they never bloomed so not sure what they are since I never had them before. They are in the same pot so I'll try to pull the taller one over so you can see the smaller one. I think one is a Nun's orchid but not sure and have no idea on the other.
This is the one I thought MIGHT be nun's orchid.

This is the other one. They were both tiny when I first got them and I put several things in the same pot, now this one is bushy and the other one is growing and there are some pregnant onions in there and something else too. Will seperate them in spring. But any ideas as to what they are?

Thumbnail by mekos

I do have some pretty orchids, here is some in the same pot.

Here is another.

And one more. There are about 6 or more different ones in that pot together because it was hanging under the pond canopy this summer and figured I'd seperate them this spring. Wanted to keep them together for the winter.

Wow Cue, that sounds like quite an undertaking. I've got some cosmos, sunflower and daisies you're welcome to have.

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Jan that is a Nuns Orchid. The second one I know too and when it gets to the keyboard I will tell you what it is....
tcs1366 I will let you know. THank You.

Would it be alstromeria? Someone on ID forum thought it might be alstromeria.
And you think the first one IS Nun's orchid?!?(smileing big!) I was hoping it was, but had no idea. So many things I first got died and the names faded off others and since I had never had any of them before, I didn't remember what they were, but that is great. I really wanted one.
Do you know if there is any particular way to care for them? I just have them in potting soil in the greenhouse. Does the nuns orchid need to be kept like an orchid?(bark chips) They seem to be ok but I never grew those before so they may need more than I'm doing. I had an infestation of ants in the pots and threw in some ant killer all over the place and in the pots. Doesn't look good but I think the ants left. It's full of lizzards though. I like them though. They eat the bugs and mosquitoes. I put mosquitoe dunks in the ponds in there also though to help keep the pests down.

OK!!!! Thanks, I'll go mark it this time with plastic markers that won't fade. Hopefully they will bloom this spring/summer. I can't wait. Woo Hoo, I got a nun's orchid and alstromeria!!!!! Woo Hoo!!! Thanks for the ID.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

You cookin' mekos.
Wonderful, when you find out what you got, isn't it??
RRM

Especially when I thought those died because I didn't know what they looked like. All this time I had some. If I had known that was what those were, I probably would have taken better care of them. I can't believe I neglected them so much and slugs got on them and ate the leaves and the hot sun cooked them for a while until I put the canopy over the pond area. Man, what a find! And right in my own yard.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

lol - maybe it's better you neglected them and that's why they survived!!

Never heard of a Nun's Orchid... Off to look it up - lol.

Everything I read about the Nun's orchid says it needs to be potted in bark like the other orchids and mine has been in potting soil all summer out in the yard. Oh my goodness. It's a miracle it survived.

Florence, KY(Zone 6a)

I got Al's package today too. What a wonderful gift!

Best to you and yours this Holiday season Al.
