Venice the stores I went to are about 35 miles away.
Three stores and the cart was overflowing in two of them.
Alot of trips from the car to the house. Now got to get them upstairs.
Lynnie, take a load off and rest, by the time I'm done hauling tomorrows workout will be done.
FAMILY, FRIENDS AND GYPSIES
No fair peeking flowers.
By the time I was 10 I could unwrap a package and rewrap it. good think my mom is a lousy wrapper. LOL
yea parents were dumb back then lol I learned but think my kids did it too just had a harder time with the extra tape I used. Rough Day huh?
Sneaky clever girl!!
They found some toys one year and I told them not to be looking, so I gave them to other kids and started over so they; wouldn't know what they had. They didn't look again lol
Dang JJ thats a long drive to get to a store, no wonder youre zonked lol
I'm gonna have to get a lot more motivated to put big tree up. Have two small ones and really don't want the big one up as I have to move furniture ect whaaa whaaa whaaa. But kids are hounding me to do it so may wait till next sleep over so they can help decorate it again this year.
Extra tape and no name tags. Thats what I did to mine. Each kid had 2 differnt kinds of wrapping paper for their presents and I wrote down which paper was which kids and kept it in the recipe box. LOL
There is a town that is only 15 miles but doesn't have as many stores.
I have to move the furniture too flowers. Was lot easier when I didn't have but two chairs.
Why did I need a couch?
These two dang dogs foloowed me up and down the stairs, think they could have carried something.
LOL JJ, I'm ready to choke mine. She won't let me rest. If I sit down she wants out or in or something to eat or her belly rubbed. Worse than a two year old.
should have seen us yesterday, we were eating all over the house. Put a blanket down on living room area rug for kids to sit on and eat. Oh and the 6 yr old got a visit from the tooth fairy while he was here. He came and woke me up with little eyes sparkling and hands cuffed and said "Mammaw look what the tooth fairy left me" He had a handful of coins.
Venice, we have several options for people who need help in our area. We have the nursing homes of course, and I have serious problems with most of them. It would take to long to get in to that. In Caldwell Parish where I pastored for so long, we have homes that houe eight to ten people. These are usually mentally retarted people of various degrees. We also have individual homes where people are able to do some things for themselves and they have two shifts of people who come in and stay with them and do what they can't do and encourage them in the things they can do, like washing cloths and folding them. They even help them cook their own meals. One of my son's payroll accounts furnishs people for this, in fact Mark moon lighted with them for a while.
Marks oldest daughter is autistic, non verbal and not potty trained, she is 19. She has a sitter that comes in to their home and stays with her during the day. Feeds her and keeps her changed. A group called Families Helping Families furnishes the workers and pays them. This has been a real life saver for him as he wouldn't be able to afford it himself. There are a lot of things out there, home health, meals on wheels and several others.
Its good to know people are still helping people Jim. How did your dinner go, bet Jo is pooped out but happy.
This little piggy is going to find something to eat and then crash.
Running out of steam.
So will catch you all tomorrow sometime.
Hope you all have nice night.
ok JJ go rest, feels like Sunday to me. I'll be over tomorrow to help with the tree and wrapping, get the hot chocolate ready . Think poor Lynnie went to sleep on us too.
Hope everyone has had a great Friday. jjsgramma, look's like you got alot of your shopping done today. I would not battle the crowd's on black Friday for any amount of saving's. Glad you can do it though.
Dixie, glad your better and had a nice holiday with your son and I bet your poo's will be ducking head's again around Christmas;-) Just kidding.
Dave, love that picture from the Puna coast and hope you had a tremendous Thanksgiving day. What is the plant in the picture?
Flower's, I have to move plant's instead of furniture for a Christmas tree. Ha, ha...
Venice and Joy, wishing you all the best with your loved one's.
Venice gonna make a punch for baby shower tomorrow that is yummy. Use lemon, lime, and orange sherbert ice cream. Ginger Ale and crushed pineapple. Can't find my laddle so will have to use a glass cup to scoop with I guess.
Hi Rachael, glad you survived the feast and hope it didn't put the pounds on :-)
That punch does sound good. I am saving it.
I see a lot of questions were asked about my job.
I work for a company called Homes for Independent Living. They have 17 homes now around the Green Bay area, including the one in Pulaski. They have 2 up in Sturgeon Bay, and 2 in Appleton. And they have a lot more in other cities in Wisconsin, mostly in southern Wisconsin.
The companys intent is to get all the developmentally disabled out of places that they have been placed in that they should not be in. Like Nursing Homes and Mental Hospitals. Some of our clients are elderly, but they have a disability too.
I have had to take a medication course, and pass a test to be able to pass meds to our clients. Over 5 years now with no med errors for me!
We also have to take a dietary class and pass a test, as we are doing there menu's and cooking for them. We have continued education all the time. Depending on the house you work in, depends on the level of training you have to have. CBRF's require 12 hours a year of continued education.
As to weather I put my clients to bed or get them up, depends on the time of the night that I go in. I presently have one that is totally capable of putting himself to bed. He is an elopement risk though, so we have to keep an eye on him. One who has congestive heart failure is usually in bed long before I get there. My lady client will wait up for me if I get into work by 10pm, and that is on the weekends.
I get then all up, showered, fed and medicated and out the door for their day programs that they go to during the week. On the weekends, the one with congestive heart failure likes to sleep in, so all I have to do is get him up and get his meds in him before day shift arrives.
We have no dayshift during the week. Staff then arrives at 4pm, when the clients arrive back from their day programs.
At the house I will be transfering to, we have day shift all the time. None of the clients go to day programs. I will be starting at 11 pm, and I was told that one of the ladies likes to sit up and be in the kitchen with the night shift, just for company. So that will be my client to put to bed.
I know I will be helping get them up and showered and dressed and fed and medicated in the morning, but I will not be on my own doing this. I have staff coming in at 7 and staff coming in at 10 as soon as the house is filled.
Venice, you said I must be very good at my job if I can continue to do that work and switch patients without fretting.
I have been at the same house for 5 years. My first lady client was moved to another house due to the steps being a hazzard for her. And this last summer, one of the guys that I was taking care of passed away unexpectedly. I'm just very glad I was not on rotation when he did. I miss him.
I asked for the transfer 3 years ago when I found out the company had a house that close to me. Unfortunatly it took them until this coming monday to get enough clients lined up to open the house. I drive 53 miles round trip right now to work.
If I could take my clients with me to the new house, I would. Including the new ones I have not been working with that long.
What is CBRF Kassy? You have to love it and have a lot of patience to work with people with so many different needs. Glad your one of them doing the caring Kassy.
CBRF
Definition: Wisconsin Statutes, Section 50.01(1g) (exit DHS)
"Community-based residential facility" means a place where 5 or more unrelated adults reside in which care, treatment or services above the level of room and board but not including nursing care are provided to persons residing in the facility as a primary function of the facility.
Thank you flowers.
I have worked in nursing homes too. I did enjoy working with the elderly too. And I did night shift (by my self) at a 20 bed CBRF in Pulaski, before I went to the company I am at now.
Kassy, I sure wish that you will have good clients in your new house. I am sure it will be different having all new ones after 5 years in the other one. At least you don't have to do that long drive and that has to be a big advantage.
Kassy you have a right to be proud of your accomplishments and good work and I for one am proud of you too. Did bf's daughter get a deer?
OK fed and happy.
Flowers look in the dishwasher for your ladel. LOL
Hi Kassy, hope you are having a good time and lots of dessert.
Can I go to bed instead of the corner? LOL
night all
JJ I've looked every where its probably in grands toy box lol I know you are tired but will be glad tomorrow for your shopping spree today. Good night dear I'm headed that way myself.
Night Kassy, Lynnie,Rachael,Jim,Dave Venice and any one else lurking about lol. Venice that receipe calls only for lemon and orange sherbert but had a deal on all three at Ingles so gonna try them all in it. Good Night
If we can only make it through the Christmas candy and home made goodies Rachael we can then think fruit and salad. Just wear black it doesn't show the bulges lol.
Well I didn't see it skinned and hanging from any of those trees Kassy, that must mean no. lol
nice sunset picture tho. Goodnight you nut. lol
Nope, didn't see any bucks except one she would have had to shoot in the butt.
And this afternoon she shot to small trees.............very small ones.
She is a dead center shot, so she will probably be getting an new scope for her gun for christmas.
Nite flowers^_^
The dinner was great Jo out did herself. Believe it or not but Mark made the dressing and it was great. If he wanted something to eat that wasn't a frozen dinner, he had to learn to cook it himself. His soon to be x didn't have time for unessential things like cooking for her family. Had Jo's sister and her husband up for lunch. There kids all live away. It was a good time.
Coffee's on, Hot chocolate too
Flowers I'm ready and waiting on you!!
Morning everyone,
Boy do I fell better, don't look so hot but feel good.
Morning everybody! Coffee's on!
We have some crazy high winds out there, my mums blew away, probably at Joy's by now. I don't think my little Japanese maple is going to survive much of that!
What's everybody doing this weekend? I need to regroup after a busy week...gym, clean house, do groceries...I want to get a turkey breast so I can have left overs.
Smiley are you up?
Hi ya JJ! I'm jealous you got all your shopping done....I won't even start mine till next week!
I'm going to put up this tree before I clean. Hoping by tomorrow I can do nothing.
Want me to send you some turkey? I have to get mine vacuum packed and frozen.
DH says my shopping is never done.
I am trying to get this camera I bought to work.
It came with batteries, I put them in and won't come on.
Used some of my batteries and still don't work. Then the stupid instruction book only shows how to put in batteries and the card and shows all the parts.
Then it says to go to the Kodak website for further details.
What are the people who don't have computer suppose to do?
I'm thinking this one is going back.
