HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!! I hope you have a great day and enjoy all that we have together!
I am thankful first of all for my DH Dave. He's wonderful, has worked every day for almost 30 days straight, about to get laid off (praying very very hard he doesn't) and yet goes to the store and buys all of this stuff to make us, me and him, and full blown Thanksgiving Feast, plus all of the countless hours of yard work, house work, regular cooking, and taking me out to dinner that he does.
Second, I am thankful for all of you here on DG. You all are such a blessing in my life, I don't know what I ever did without you and don't plan on ever being without you in my life. I never knew that online friends could be so wonderful to have, and I have learned so much from all of you about so many different things in life.
I love you all! (and no I didn't take that from the Wizard of Oz LOL)

in my chair resting tired back and feet - the legsare doing great. thank you exercise class! The living room looks just grand! still can't findthe camera battery charger though.
as I just told crissy - been still cleaning a bit, but ham, candied yams, cranberry sauce, summer sausage and swiss cheese appetizer, and pumpkin pie are ready to serve and chilling for the night. I'm now sitting with a leftover peppermint and chocolate chip milkshake from last week - darn thing keeps just finein the freezer! then I'mmaking the coolrise yeast rolls for the frig and going to bed.
going to say goodnight now, and go cuddle with Randall......DARN! He's found the pumpkin pie - hisfavorite.
oh shoot - I was looking for who posted something about a Jamaican Pumpkin cheesecake, and I can't find the thread..........
~Susan~
Sure does sound good!!
http://www.grouprecipes.com/103366/jamaican-pumpkin-cheesecake.html
This is the recipe I found for the cheescake, but can't find the recipe for the crust they are talking about!
Ingredients
Windmill cookie crust - see crust page
2 pounds Philly cream cheese, softened
1 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
5 tbsp. flour
4 large eggs
15 ounce can pumpkin
1/3 evaporated milk
2 tea. pumpkin pie spice
3 Tbsp dark rum
4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
Directions
Preheat oven to 500.
Blend cream cheese, brown sugar and flour until smooth.
Add eggs one at a time.
Add pumpkin and evap. milk.
Add spice, rum, and chocolate, mixing thoroughly.
Pour into prepared pan.
Bake at 500 for 15 minutes.
Reduce temp. to 250 and continue baking for 1 hour.
Let cool and refrigerate before serving.
I have that link, but one of the DGers who was on the thread said there was a mistake in one of the ingredient amounts, and I wanted to find the thread so I could get the correct amount.
ah well, CRS and I are good friends, so I suppose I'll have to figure it out lol

A Happy Thanksgiving and my love to each and everyone of you today. Have a great day and be safe.
I think many of you know my dear DG friend DustyDS. While we celebrate could you please take a minute to say a prayer for Dusty and her family? She just got word that her son has been in an accident and is being airlifted to a hospital in Atlanta...that is all we know for now. Will let you know more when we hear something.
Hey Jax, Hey Kim. Hope your day is wonderful too!
Passing the cuppa your way!
Trisha, sorry to hear about Dusty's son!
Saying prayers as I type!
LK
thanks tatters...........and adding to your prayers!
And mine as well...
Happy Thanksgiving to my sistahs!
The heart is full with the warmth all of you send out. May God hold each of you in the palm of His Hand. My heart and my day are lighter just knowing youare here.
Feet and back are sore. Head is worried, as I saw today at thefeast just how Momand Dad are aging much. Another DG dear friend lost her beloved pup yesterday. It's going into winter. "To every thing there is a season..." But for today, all is well and we give thanks for our truly blessed life. Sending prayers to those in need of them.
Randall is doing dishes, bless him. DD Ruth helped all day, DD Bevin showed up around 10am to help. Everyone enjoyed the food. Best of all, the yeast rolls turned out fine. The carcass is in the soup pot. The house is clean - YEAH! Mom and Dad have called to let meknowthey got home safe. The rest of the family is traveling for today, so hoping everyone gets home safely. I'm so worried, we haven't heard from DS Danny, in Queens NY area. He hasn't called, he doesn't answer his phone.
Bevin says Faith, the new kitten, part Siamese. She took one look at her beau James and became his best friend, much to his delight!
Blessings to all, and safe travel home.

Sounds like Thanksgiving was a "hit" at everyone's house ^_^
All sated, and full of good cheer, eh?
Glad to hear it!
Tell me, is there a pkg from someone here I should be receiving today? I'm not expecting anything, but I got a card today saying an International pkg has arrived for me........
Maybe I can pick it up before choir practice. If not, I have to wait until after work tomorrow, and that's One Thing I Hate To Do is wait for something when it's Right Here LOL Talk about dangling a carrot before the horse LOL
~Susan~

Well knock me over!!!
Good morning everyone! Surprise to see Jax here and especially Kim who's been working too hard! Linda, you are part of this group too and don't stray too far from us.
It was a good Thanksgiving Day for us. We had church service at 7.00, followed by breakfast. Then Kel had to pick up a load, before the hotdog and porkchop grill. We spent all day at PILs.
Surely need the coffee today, LK :D Thank you for so faithfully fixing breakfast for us.
Praying that your trip and the wedding goes well, LK. Take lots of pictures!
Nope, no Susan.. it wasn't me :( I'm gonna be late.. so what's new.. think I'll separate the 'stuffs' so the special will get to you faster.
Sistah Judy, Kel calls you the "Real Deal"! Love your real time convos Sistah!! Can't wait to see you again!
Bonnie, you should have a box at your door. Mailed you some cuttings!
Dusty and Aaron are in our prayers. I'll be bringing their names to the church's prayer warriors.
Darn Donna.. seems you survive Black Friday! I won't want to be trampled at WM!
Crissy... I'll echo you and say the same about my sistahs and nieces...
Love all of you and know that my affections for you all doesn't stop even when I don't read about you!!
I know what some of you will be having for dinner today... leftovers!!!
Well my fav. quilting shop is offering 25% off everything. So, Barb.. LK...Marion.. wanna come?
We're supposed to go to either Joanne's or Hobby Lobby, but that trip will take us too far from his dad.
I'll catch you all later sistahs!! Have a wonderful "Beautimous Friday"!
Good Morning, Sistahs!
I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving day! ^_^
I expect it's difficult to get out from under All That Food, to go shopping on Black Friday, but I also expect more than One of you will do Just That lol
Our big shopping day is the day after Christmas. Our Boxing Day. lol in fact, some boxing day sales are happening right now!
Previously, Boxing Day was only the day after Christmas, then sales people were complaining that the shopping was "Nuts!" and it became Boxing Week. Then stores noticed that some were waiting until after Christmas to buy stuff, so they started having Boxing Month sales at the beginning of December. It now looks like they think we're fooled and are starting in November........ As IF! but, there are sales on right now, of course. It's just not the biggie it used to be, on December 26th. No returns allowed on that day, either.
~Susan~
Creak, groan, it be just we "waddling" in this morning!! Actually, I was a very good girl yesterday and did not overeat. Leftovers? Where? I could not believe the 23 lbs. turkey I cooked it a carcass now!! I had so looked forward to some turkey sandwiches today but alas I have to cook something else. Bummer. Not only that but all the other items are gone: the green beans, squash casserole, brussel sprouts, gravey and stuffing. Of course some was taken to make lunches for my son to take to the UF/FSU game on Saturday but not that much. My DIL are both shocked as she doesn't have any leftovers either.
Kel, Jaye any hotdogs up your way? Oh forget that you are off quilting--lucky lady.
It is good to see Jax and Kim joining us--been missing you sistahs!
Well everyone has said it much better than I do but I echo all the sentiments stated above--you have become very dear and important to me. Those I have had the wonderful joy of meeting in person and those I know only online. You all came into my life when I was really struggling to adjust to widowhood and each in their own way provided me with the spark to move forward. That I will forever be grateful and thankful for!!!!!!
Trisha, so sad to hear of Dusty's recent problem and will be remembering her and family in my prayers for sure. Keep us posted please.
Awwwwww. Phyllis the fun has just begun!!!
Goodness ME! Hello everyone! Nice to hear from the lost ones! even better to hear most things going well with y'all!
Yes, Jaye, Randall brought the box in late Wednesday night. Had him set it out of the way, then discovered something missing and we headed quick to the store. Withall the cooking and cleaning and ready-ing, I'd plum forgotten! oh I have to......wait a minute - I've never done cuttings successfully - someone....Help!!
Phyllis, I'm kermit green with envy. what a darling babe.
just got back from exercise class. took it easy on this sore back, but between the stretching and cool down and jacuzzi, I'm not so sore now.
you know, Ican't think ofanything Ineed at the sales.....except a space bar that doesn't stick....
Happy Belated Thanksgiving!
I had to brave Black Friday to make a payment at Sam's Club and guess what! There is hardly any traffic and the store wasn't very busy. All the registers were open and there was NO waiting. Economy is VERY very bad!
Sending prayers for Dusty, Aaron and the rest of the family.
Hugs to all of you!
Thank you all for your prayers.... Aaron has been up and down through the night, they had to take him back to surgery for bleeding around 5 a.m. The last report I heard he had been given at least 24 units of blood so far. Sharron has started a thread for Aaron on the Prayer Forum.
sending more prayers for Dusty and Aaron.
well, new kitty Faith got a decently clean bill of health from her new vet (Hope's vet). She got her kitten shots and her first dose of Resolution (fleaand parasite preventative). I'm scared of worms, so she got dewormed just in case. Vet says she's between 4 and 4.5 months old. They say she's a "dilute calico", which they say means she'll stay sweet natured, without the "ATTITUDE" that stronger colored calicos have. Vet says that calicos with the stronger orange coloring, like Randall's old cat Wellington had, always have that "rulethe house cat" strong personality. We'll talk about spaying her next visit, in a month, for her big kitty booster shots. She's got her rabies tag, too. So far, free kitty cost Randall $144. LOL Coming out of the vet's, he commented," you know you're worth it."
bonjon...I once heard or read somewhere that all calico's are females. Do you know if this is true?
Jane
Jane yes the kittens i had all are no orange but one sheba the house one only one. rest black white grey stipe mabe touch orange and grey white. all shes.shes on my lap as i type. hard with shoulder and hands hurting so bad hands keep going numb but hurt bad numb.. huh>>?if numb why so much pain like no blood gettingto fingers..ah well.
praying for Aaron and Dusty..
blessings everyone.
Randall says the male calicos are so rare they arevery very sought after - pricey to buy.
tooka nap today - now can't sleep!
I have Dusty and AAron in my prayers. As well as other sistahs needing prayers. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving with family/friends and had lots of good food. I had a wonderful day with friends.
It is going to hit the low 30's this am and I am hoping for no frost or freeze. I did drag alot of plants into the GH yesterday but have not gotten the front part of the 10' X 16' GH enclosed yet. A project I will get done this weekend. I have six brugs in the ground ready to bloom and am afraid they will be toast in a few hours.
They are coming this morning to level my fountain statue so I can turn on the fountain without it running over just the back of the top basin. This is going to me a tough job since the fountain weighs about 1,000 lbs. It is on a concrete foundation but still not level. If we get it complete today, I will take pics. Also have the flooring people coming today to fix a buckle in the new floor--hopefully will not have to move everything out of the kitchen again!!!!
Donna - It was good talking to you the other day. Will try to give you a call this weekend. I may start putting up my Christmas decorations today. I got a new tree yesterday and am giving my tenant my white prelit tree. She is excited!
Now I understand why my calico, Ladybug is such a psycho kitty!!! She can be sweet one moment and next minute it is fangs and claws. She has been alot sweeter lately with me but still pulls psycho-kitty mode on friends.
I got on Farmville finally but still trying to figure it all out - any suggestions are appreciated. I have had ruined crops alot since I am not on the computer that much and can't keep up with it.
Good morning everyone.
Coffee's on.. O.J for those that need extra C and guess what we'll be having for breakfast today? Hot buttered croissants and a side of bacon. Arteries clogging food.. let's pray for good health after eating!!!
Hello there Rainy_Jane. Welcome to this place of "misfit' but beloved toys ;)
The only calico cats I had are females btw. Got one right now that's feral, and won't come near us, and I bet she's a female too. Our other outside rescues (all neutered and spayed) co exist peacefully with it.
I agree with Bon.. the males are very rare and will fetch high dollars.
It was a wonderful day shopping yesterday. We spent 2 hours at ONE quilt shop. :D Savings? Yes you bet!! Got gadgets, gizmos, patterns and fabric. Kel's an expert in using quilting lingo.. like stash.. 'pulling fabric'.. and 'rip' with other shoppers!
When we left from there, we had fun at an antique store, offering 33% percent off. So much history in that store! Got an antique cup and saucer set, surprised with a find of a rare Malay book (my culture), antique apron, Africana doll and some ancient music scores.
Sufficed to say that we worked up an appetite after these, and ended up with a long relaxing meal of steaks and bbq at LK's favorite restaurant, Texas Roadhouse.
Nope, we didn't head for any other stores. That's all we could afford! :D
Bon, we're lucky we found a very reasonable vet that charged his services at 1/2 the cost of the other vets in the area. Except for the named meds. that's unavoidable.. like the heartworm and flea treatments.. ear cleansers, etc.
He only treats pets, been in the business for years and animal rescuers as far as the MB come to him.
Sometimes, he doesn't even charge us for follow-up visits.
Faith indeed is so lucky to be in your home.
Twyla, bring that up with the doctor, next visit. You're diabetic, right? It might be some nerve damage.
Linda.. I didn't get the news last night and woke up to frost here! :( Drats. On FB too, but not on Farmville! Sorrreeeeee. If you could get hold of Crissy.. maybe she'd be able to answer you.
Oh dear.. got to get up and start packing stuffs to mail out.. one box a day will help clear the doldrums away ...
later sistahs!
Oh Jaye sounds like you had a perfect day. Green with envy here!!!!!!
Sorry I will pass on breakfast this morning as I had the last slice of pecan pie my DIL made--yummy isn't even a good enough word to describe it.
Off to get a haircut and then hurry home to watch the football game (well I hope it is a game) Go Nolesssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!
I was thinking that all my sistahs that come in June might like a trip to the biggest Antique town in Ohio. Not but about 20 minutes away. Store after store, after store....some lovely gift shops, too. Just an idea...
I've met Dusty's son, Aaron, and he is such a sweet man. Has a wonderful smile and you could tell he loves him mama lots. Feel so bad there is nothing to do but pray...
My toffee was a big hit at Thanksgiving. Wish it didn't cost so much to make or I'd add that to my candy list that I sell. Does anyone have a good recipe for potato candy? Someone was asking if I sold that, so thought I might give it a try if I could find a good enough (cheap, too) recipe.
Just 4 days until we leave for Hawaii. I'm getting excited now and should probably drag out the suitcases and get started. Luckily there is a washer and dryer where we are staying, so we won't have to haul two weeks worth of clothes. I'm looking forward to sitting in the sun, reading, swimming, going for walks on the beach and seeing the whales....not necessarily in that order!
Marion, you andI think alike. Got my haircut yesterday after the vet visit! saw myself in thewindow at the vet - what a witch!
Good Morning Glory! what an awesome breakfast! Right after I last posted, realized my eyes were closing, so gota great sleep. It's bright and crisp and sunny - I didn't get the news either, had houseplants and unpotted plants outside last night. gotta go see tothem. can tell by the sun and sky it's right chilly out there.
Faith is very happy here, but Randall is pouty because she seems tolike other people better than him, especially DD. Itold him it's only fair, her dog Hope likes him the best!
Ya can't even tell Randall cleared off the leaves for Tday! he's on his way out with the blower. I'd best move my buttocks, I'm still in nightgown.
potato candy? lived in Idaho for 6 years, had potato everything, but never heard of that!
cooked potato, peanut butter, confectioners sugar, not sure what else. Look like little pinwheels....old fashioned candy from way....WAY....back!
Potato Candy
1/4 cup cooked white potatoes
confectioners sugar
1 tsp vanilla
peanut butter
Mash potaoes, add vanilla, and approximately 1 box of confectioners sugar until soft dough is formed. Divide dough in fourths. Roll between wax paper until 1/8 inch thick. Spread thin layer of peanut butter on each layer. Roll up like jelly roll. Refrigerate overnight. Cut into pieces and serve - may sprinkle with confectioners sugar if desired.
Stepping out to make that trip to the post office.
Will return soon.
Hope that helps Cookie.
Excellent, Jaye, thank you!
