49 now, heading to 58. Sunny!
48 and gloomy. Can't make up it's mind weather it wants to rain or not.
Feels warmer than the 52 it is---cloudy, looking for rain later today.
It was misty this morning, just cloudy now and 55
Their saying we might get hit with another Noreaster.
It was beautiful here this morning, up until about noon. I got some things planted I'd been putting off, and then it rained. Perfect timing.

Managed to plant iris seeds today. Fewer than usual; last year's have not germinated. I suspect that with all the heavy rain they rotted. Rain predicted for tomorrow so they will be watered. It was in the 50s so worked on our brick front porch as the garage while protected inside doesn't have enough light.
Pirl - they aren't apart, unless one has to go out without the other.
Thanks. Now I understand.
WaterCan - Iguanas are by nature herbevores, but the literature we have received about the problems with them down here mentioned that they began to eat snails etc. that were in the plants they ate, then some were found to eat small rodents and snakes etc. It also says to never feed them animals because their systems can't tolerate the meat protein. That is the cause of death for many, it seems. Good news on the one I mentioned last night. My neighbor said he took it to a woman who wanted it, so it is in good hands. I don't personally know much about them...but they have become such a problem eating expensive plants in people's yards that much is distributed here concerning the problem with them. I actually liked the looks of the guy I met last night. I was greatly relieved that he has a home now.
Not surprising, I love watercress and sometimes find myself eating tiny snails tucked away within the leaves even though they've been washed and rinsed several times. They, [the iguanas], don't have the teeth to hold on to prey, (incisors), or to dismember or masticate the type of food which it needs to handle meat and as you say protein in that from is deadly to them. I was bitten by mine too many times to count and he never drew blood, (more like a hard pinch). Their tail however is very effective, with it's serrated line along the top and incredible strength & accuracy they can target an oponent very precisely. I was whipped by mine a few times and believe me, I'd rather take the bite than the 'whip'! (lol).
The saddest part is that they are in the wrong continent here, with little chance of continuing the species in the wild, most probably ending up as food for other species. Now a gator is a different story... those guys are MEAN from birth! I used to see them on Sanibel after the storms, when I visited a friend there, she had them in her backyard, had to watch your step! lol!
Ahh, went into an old photo album to see if I had a pic and sure enough...
This is a scanned pic from 1978, (shown molting here). He had a nice setup, I built a thermostatically controlled hood which was adjustable, with two fans and a moonlight, I would set the fans to automatically turn on when the temp reached the upper 80's. [He], more than doubled the size as shown and eventually took up the whole 55 gal tank length I kept him in. He lasted about 5yrs and I never got another reptile after that. I realized taking them out of their natural habitat and selling them was not really the right thing to do, I decided I didn't want to encourage the market. His demise was attributable to natural causes and I promptly buried him in the front yard where I used to live in the city, funny how sentimental you can get with animals no matter what the species...
Temp 50°, mostly cloudy ☺
61 now... and a high of 61.. raining again today
59 and raining. This will delay the new driveway from being installed.

Just got back from shopping, wind starting to pick up but it is a really nice day.
Had to go get my free turkey. Acme may be striking tonight at midnight, so I did all my Thanksgiving shopping today.
I hope not. They are the only show in town -so to speak. If so, I guess I go to Delaware to shop.
46 and gloomy. We get free turkeys through work, picked up mine today.
Just back from my friend's in Meriden, CT. Four hours of driving to spend less than three hours there! Gorgeous day. Sunny and 53.
Yes, it is gorgeous in CT today---55 here, partly sunny this morn, mostly sunny now. We did have some loud thunder at 4:30 this morn! WC---a very pretty iguana! Iris, I never thought of starting iris from seed----what kind of iris do you start from seed?
Victor--I'm a hop, skip, and a jump from Meriden! Worked as a school nurse for kids with special needs there for awhile. Too bad you couldn't stay a tad longer and take a few pics!
Oh - I'll keep that in mind for a future visit, Phoebe!
sun came out this afternoon
We lived in cheshire CT 30 yrs ago. Meriden next door.
Robindog-these are the smaller bearded iris seeds, although TBs are done the same way. Siberians also before Polly waves at me. They will not be the same plants as parents. You have to divide the existing plants to keep the same one.
Cooler this am than yesterday. Sun making an effort to break out through the clouds. Should be in the mid 50s for temps and a nice november day. Sunrise was very vivid colors of rose, wish I got a pic. I already miss the bright color in the garden and there is still such a long way to go before it returns.
46 and gloomy. Chilly at the horse show today, glad it was indoors to keep out of the wind.
It was a lovely day---55 & sunny. Just sorry I couldn't get to a walk today.
No walk here either, Marilyn, at least not this morning. Hank has been quite ill from our H1N1 shots, but he seems to be turning the corner tonight. We took the pups for a short walk down to the River earlier this evening. It was a nice sunset and the girls are doing well learning to walk on their leashes. It's like Old Home Week here when we walk. Everyone is out walking dogs and visiting in the streets.
It got into the low 80s today with a bit of humidity....still pretty pleasant!
Sorry to hear Hank is having a bad reaction. I feared that would happen w/Justin but it didn't. I feel very, very lucky. Please give him my best!
Thanks, Celeste! As my friend here said today, if he had that bad a reaction from the shot, he would have had it 19 times worse if he had gotten the H1N1 full blown flu! That's a good way to look at it! I'm so glad Justin didn't have a reaction. How is he doing today from the surgery? What a trooper he is! You have to be so proud of him! Tell him I'm proud of him too!
He missed one meal on thursday(breakfast), yesterday all he did was eat!! He's doing dreat!
So glad to hear that!! And Mom????
