....and Betty....I'm going to take up a food collection for YOU.... (Here's the empty Bin....I'm throwing in some cans of green beans and Cream of Mushroom soup)....Anyone else want to throw in a donation for Betty ! LOL!
Seriously ....I think I am becoming like you Betty....I eat out most days now....LOVE bringing home a nice restaurant meal while the Teens prepare their Frozen Pizza Rolls ! (Shame on them all those years for not appreciating my cooking!) :)
Judy - glad you got the vehicle situation ironed out....went through that myself last year.....
I'll pop back on in a bit....HUGS to all,
Mary
I wrote this once and it will never come out the way it did on the other thread, so I want to say
I am thankful first of all for my DH Dave. He's wonderful, has worked every day for almost 30 days straight, about to get laid off (praying very very hard he doesn't) and yet goes to the store and buys all of this stuff to make us, me and him, and full blown Thanksgiving Feast, plus all of the countless hours of yard work, house work, regular cooking, and taking me out to dinner that he does. I am blessed with a very good husband, lover, and friend.
Second, I am thankful for all of you here on DG. You all are such a blessing in my life, I don't know what I ever did without you and don't plan on ever being without you in my life. I never knew that online friends could be so wonderful to have, and I have learned so much from all of you about so many different things in life.
I love you all! (and no I didn't take that from the Wizard of Oz LOL)
Christine
hahahahaha "dorothy/crissy" LOL
too funny lol
Did you click you red heels together?
ditto on the DH & DG friends.......... to the max!
♫♪~Susan~♪♫
La La La lallla laaaa!!!!!!
Ahhh Crissy what a kind and loving thought ... you are all special as well...my Thanksgiving is over for the year but so much to be grateful for...
Judy thanks for the call, sorry I couldn't talk longer...you are terrific..so glad we're good friends...
And, my camera's batteries charged just long enough for me to take a couple of photo's...
Mary, appreciate the canned goods...now I can eat..and you thought my losing weight was due to weight watchers..all the time it was not having groceries in my refrigerator..so laughing!
Makes life easier doesn't it Mary, because of no cooking it means very little tidy up or dishes to do..enjoy..you've a lot more restaurants to pick from...lol
The little lady is called Rilley..she's 3, quite the talker..first of all with all my workshop kits sitting on the floor and projects one end of the room to another she told me my room was very messy...then she went upstairs, guess the decorations did it, said she wanted to take my house home..lol..
But she did go home with a treasure...even Sailor enjoyed her playing ball with her...
Now I'm tired...sooooo tired..hopefully I can sleep tonight ..tomorrow I'll make my list, check it over twice and see if I've everything for Sat./Sun. classes...
Portrait class tomorrow night so another late night..think I just might re energize myself with a nap tomorrow..we all know I can snooze away the day...
Night / night
Good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow..
Hello All!
Yes - Betty - You are right... No clean up...and a good meal... I find if I go out for lunch or dinner...I can split the meal in half...and have a "To Go" for the next day...
I had lunch with 5 old radio friends on Monday...and I had a "To Go" that lasted 3 more Meals! WOW!
2 of them were on Weight Watchers...so I may need to look into that...but I really think I just need to exercise......
We are headed to MIL's tomorrow for Thanksgiving....I have made my signature Cheese Ball and Spinach Madeleine....
Thank GOD for this ...my husband's Parents ....family who have adopted me and my son....we don't have family of our own that seem to want us around...OR that are local...and an option.....
Thank GOD for my DG Family.
Thank GOD for my new job.....
Hugs to ALL.....
Mary

Trisha I'll enjoy spending thanksgiving with some of you that have time to drop in...

That didn't take long..1 for each of the nieces to take home today and decided I liked the red so made another for my desk..that with the tree up, the arrangement I'll make this weekend and the light box, well my office area will look a little bit like Christmas...
Linus van Pelt: In the year 1621, the Pilgrims held their first Thanksgiving feast. They invited the great Indian chief Massasoit, who brought ninety of his brave Indians and a great abundance of food. Governor William Bradford and Captain Miles Standish were honored guests. Elder William Brewster, who was a minister, said a prayer that went something like this: 'We thank God for our homes and our food and our safety in a new land. We thank God for the opportunity to create a new world for freedom and justice."
Happy Thanksgiving DG Friends ! :)
Mary
Thanks, great bit of info...
Have to share....
Will you give this to my Daddy?
Last week I was in Toronto, Ontario attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen.
Moving through the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. As they began heading to their gate, everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering.
When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered for, it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only Canadian who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families.
I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to church, school, work and home without fear or reprisal.
Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our service men and women, a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old, ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said 'hi.'
The little girl then asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her.
The young soldier, who didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her Daddy. Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.
The mother of the little girl, who said her daughter's name was Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Soldier and had been in Afghanistan for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter Courtney missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up.
When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it..
After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, 'I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you.' He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying 'your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon.'
The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet, he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event.
As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause.. As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek..
We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's good to be a Canadian.
RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Canadians who support our troops used to be called the 'silent majority'. We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers.
We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many Canadians, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of Canadians supports our troops.
Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that... Every Canadian who supports our men and women afar will wear something red.
Let's make Canada on every Friday a sea of red.
If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before Canada is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once 'silent' majority is on their side more than ever; certainly more than the media lets on.
The first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things better for you?' is...We need your support and your prayers.
Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear something red every Friday.
IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND THIS ON.
IF YOU COULDN'T CARE LESS THEN HIT THE DELETE BUTTON --- IT IS YOUR CHOICE. I don't know if you've seen this, but I urge you to send it to everyone you know..
WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE..
THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED---- SO WEAR RED! --- MAY GOD HELP CANADA TO BECOME ONE NATION, UNDER GOD.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone,

Betty - thank you for that "forward" of the "Will you give this to my Daddy" story...... we all need to remember these soldiers have lives and families of their own, and they're supporting our need for peace & harmony.......
~Susan~
Oh Betty, That is so beautiful. brought tears to my eyes!
Yes, I too am Thankful for all the Soldiers, May god bless their families too.
I think a lot of you know my friend DustyDS from some of our threads...please say a prayer for her and her family. She just got a call a little bit ago that her son Aaron has been in an accident and is being airlifted to a hospital in Atlanta. She is on her way there now...we don't know yet what happened or the extent of his injuries.
OMG Trisha, including Aaron in my prayers..how frantic she must be...
Oh My Gosh!
Trisha thank you for letting us know.
Saying prayers right now for Aaron, Dusty and family.
Thanks all.
Hope you are having a good day. Got the Turkey out of the pool and into the oven...mom is doing the veggies and I am starting the rolls and baking olives.....getting really hungry....4:00 is a long way off:(
Just have to ask Trisha, why is your turkey in the 'pool' hmmmm that's different
Maybe she was thawing it out in the pool?
LOL!
We brine our turkey in a big ice chest with water, salt and variety of spices...we just call it his swimming pool! Makes for the most wonderful, juicy turkey....beats my brothers Fried Turkey any day!!
Hmmmmmm going to have to remember that for our Christmas turkey.
Trisha - what's recipe?
~Susan~
There are any number of recipes on line.... there is one on DG Recipes but they use Sugar and we don't care for the sweet ones. Laura got her basic recipe here http://www.foodnetwork.com/holidays-and-parties/how-to-brine-a-turkey/index.html We take a large saucepan full of boiling water and dissolve 1 1/2 pounds salt, add several large sprigs of rosemary, a handfull of fresh sage, thyme, peppercorns, chopped garlic. Let it cool, or we add ice cubes. Place turkey a large pot or ice chest (bird must be covered with liquid and refrigerated or have a lot ice added in ice chest) We mix it up and let it sit overnight. Drain, pat dry, rub it with butter and bake as usual.
hmmmmmmm sounds interesting. Wonder if we have enuff ice for our 28 lb'er.... we have a big enuff chest for it. Say, I have a Coleman cooler that plugs in. I suppose I could use that............. yes indeedy! ^_^
♫♪~Susan~♪♫
Back again...it was a very good Turkey if I do say so myself! We are all miserable now. Everyone is stuffed and off home to recover...mom is working on Christmas...has her outside lights going and had the boys bring in all the inside stuff from storage...so I imagine her house will be all Christmas by the time I stop over tomorrow.
Still no word from Dusty.
Have agood night everyone.
Thought I'd check in to see if there was news on Dusty's son....just got back from portrait class, heading to bed, will say my prayers that good news will await me in the morning....
Trisha, thanks for the link..must try that..was going to say at Christmas but I have my turkey de-boned then stuffed with my homemade stuffing..perhaps for easter..sounds delicious...omg isn't it awful how we enjoy eating everything we see, because of course it's all so yummy and then can't move and are so uncomfortable...but then we forget and next holiday we do same...
Hope you've all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving...
Should have some news soon, Dusty hasn't given any details yet but says the news is not good....I will up date you as soon as I know more.
He was pulling out of his driveway in his Porche and was T-Boned on the Passenger side thankfully....
Aaron has a concussion with bleeding on the brain, a collapsed lung, broken pelvis, and many more injures. he is going to need a lot of prayers.
Saying early morning prayers Trisha...Lord does work miracles...
We are all praying for Aaron and all of Dusty's family. A thread has been started on the Prayer Forum
Praying for all of you this morning. BEV
Tks Barb...
Bev, how did you and Scotty enjoy your Thanksgiving..are you now feeling well ? Gardens all put to bed for the winter?
Prayers are being said for Aaron.......
Blessings to all who need it, today and always........
~Susan~
