Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends

Glenview, IL

2, 5 or 9 little things? LOLOL Betty, too cute.
Hope you get 9 little things done.

Woohoo, Christmas ornament swap buddy got mine today. Big, big bummer, the bird bath came loose, so bummed.
but a little ot glue can fis it right up....

Hey Susan good to see you too..Hows your cleaning going?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

got SOME done, but not enuff lol
Went to the church and served tea, sandwiches and dainties (in Winnipeg & west, that's sweet cakes, etc, but in Ontario they're ladies underthings LOL - we did not, I repeat Did Not serves ladies underwear LOL)
I also got a whole whack of paper to the recycling bin, and took the bottles and milk cartons to the Bottle Depot. Only made $3.00 but that's better than nuffin!
Then, at the tea, I bought a lot of baking, and some crafts.

I may go into the hot tub tonight. My shoulder's kinda sore.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey My DG Friends!

Susan - you are too funny... "Dainties"... :) I might think of underthings as well...not cupcakes. LOL.....

Hey Judy ! Can't believe you 'let' DH get out for a bike ride ...what with so many better things to do! I wish I could get my DH to put up the Halloween decorations! HA!

Can't believe it's time to put up Christmas decorations...but I guess it is....

What are folks doing for Thanksgiving?

Betty: 2 ...or 5 ....or 9....you sound like my Mother In Law ;) LOL...BUT you must know that I really do try to get DH over there to help her. Sometimes I think that my MIL is the best thing I got out of this marriage....she has been very good to me & DS.....

We'll be over there for Thanksgiving next week. It's become our tradition. I haven't seen my "own" family for a while....and don't get to see them much.

Today I made Spinach Madeleine for Thanksgiving (put in freezer till Wednesday)...and DS and I made our usual Cheese Balls ....one for snacking on this week (kids home from school)....another for Thanksgiving. And a Third for whatever... I'm not sure what this new company does ....a pot luck? I don't think so...or would have heard something by now...

HUGS to all,

Mary

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

We had thanksgiving in Oct, so now just getting prepped for Christmas.
So, Mary, you liked my "dainties" comment, eh? LOL
I thought it funny the first time I heard that's what they referred to, in Ontario.

Anyhow, I'm going to help my "idiot" DH to find his paperwork - he'd just gotten his birthcertificate, and left it lying around. Now, he can't find it and it may have been Recycled with all the rest of the paperwork. WHY didn't he keep it in his briefcase, or on his dresser? no, he has to leave it with all the newspapers and garbage to be recycled.............

Morning all, and early morning it is..can't sleep, tummy upset..too much on my mind I guess....

The day was progressing well, then it all went to h(*& in a breadbasket as they say...

Got a call from my girlfriend Liz in Ireland, her sister Janice who would visit me on her trips to Canada finally lost her battle with cancer!

Then Ann dropped in for a visit, she says she always feels calmed when she visits here...still worried about Mike and the cancer, won't be able to continue to do his regular job, at 62 it's a bit difficult to find a new career..thinking of selling their home in the city and moving up here at the cottage, well not really a cottage, a beautiful home...that's a plus for me because I so enjoy spending time with her, our interests are much the same...

Then she told me about Ray, a few of you might remember she was trying to set me up with him, went to the Legion together at Canada Day...he was married 2, had a daughter 19, very talented, just did a cd and was on tour on the east coast (Cape Breton)...had a few hired to spare so went hiking, something she's very used to doing...some passerby's hear screams, here she was attacked by 2 cayote's..mauled to death..the wardens were able to kill one but the other escaped...they did tests on it, no rabies, tummy was full of food so not hungry so they aren't quite sure what happened...Ray is devastated..his brother who lives next door to him at the cottage is dying of throat cancer and will be lucky to make it till Christmas....

Not sure I told you but my cousin (also S.I.L.) Linda, who went to Frankenmuth with me last month was suppose to come last Saturday for craft day, she called on the Friday night to say she had a family emergency...I tried contacting her several times to see what was up...finally on Wedn. she e-mailed me, said all she was doing was crying and couldn't talk...so after a few e-mails she said she'd call me ..on Friday night I just missed her call..she left message she'd call me Monday but last night while Greg and I were having our meal the telephone rang and it was Linda...here her son Scott 39 had a heart-attack..was operated on..doing ok but won't be going back to work for awhile..

Greg got a few things done for me, said he'd drop in today to do a little more, went to bed and guess all of the above made me restless...thought 'if I can't sleep, might as well make myself useful' so I'm now on to my 2nd cup of coffee...about 8 more lengths of 1 x 4's to cut then it's clean up time..

It would be better to cut the long 2" thick planks on heavier equipment so I've made arrangements to meet Mike and Darlene at their house at 8 this morning and get the bulky part of the project done...

So that's my day..be back to gab with you all later...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((((((((Betty))))))))))))))))))))
here, I was feeling miserable because I likely "recycled" my DH's just-received birth certificate, and couldn't sleep, and I find your posting!!!!!!!
my goodness girl - you're having a tough day of it........
((((((((Betty)))))))))) I wish I could give you a real hug, cuz you sure need it.

Take care, and God bless,
Susan

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Susan, look who's up..nope can't sleep, been up shortly after 3 our time I guess..productive hours..cuttings out in the firepit..omg, it's so mild outside...alarm was going off not sure if at the restaurant or the variety store..thought I'd best get in the house just incase someone was breaking in..doubtful but one never knows...

Hope you find DH's birthcertificate..he probably put it away for safe keeping and doesn't remember...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

WOW! Betty, so sorry to hear of all the sad news! Sending thoughts and prayers to all those in need, and some ((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) for you too!
Please take care, and don't use the saw when your so tired please?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh my Goodness Betty, so sorry to hear all of this bad news you got, no wonder you couldn't sleep. Yikes! Many thoughts and prayers go out to you and your friends/family.

((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))

Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks both of you..mom called, couldn't make her out, she's had cold/flu since Monday...says she's lost 11 lbs. - told her I should get it, might bring me closer to my goal..she said 'NOT'! lol

Then spoke to Charlene, odd that Bernie hadn't dropped in or called today after last week saying he would...she told me he's waiting for results from the Doctor, he's passed out several times last week, one cutting his forehead...(my dad did that for years, they never did find out what caused it)...doctor thought he could be having mini strokes....so, I just have to be a bit more patient, not the end of the world not having doors trimmed and back bedroom trimmed and ready for the cutains I bought..life is more valuable than that..so patient it is...who knows, might give it a go myself..

So that was more news to add to yesterday's news...once again it seems the world is closing in...so much hurt/illness...no wonder I can't sleep, too busy worrying..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Phew.............. I called the 311 line (they look after city emergencies, the large recycle bins in parking lots, etc.
They gave me a ph# to call and leave a msg. Then, this am @ 9, they returned my msg call, and told us to meet them @ 10am and they'd go through the recycle bin with us. Better sooner than later, they said, so too much wasn't dumped in on top of it.
Well, the upshot of it was that they sifted through for us (tipped the bin a bit to get at everything) and they FOUND IT! It was still in the Purolator envelope Bob had put it in with all the needed photocopies!
Well, after we gratefully thanked the fellas, we rushed home to change (we thought we might have to go through the stuff, so we dressed appropriately........) for church.
We missed out on the pre-service practice, but got there in time to go up the backstairs to the choir loft with everyone else.
This now means that Bob can apply for all his other ID (this is all he has right now, other than his driver's licence). He'll have to get Alberta Health, and his passport, too, as well as his SIN card.

I usually look pretty carefully through paperwork Before setting it for recycling, but I guess I was annoyed he wasn't helping, so I wasn't as careful.............
What a "head-rush" today was lol

Yikes, wasn't sure what happened...had to find something else to do for a short time.

Betty, I am so sorry to hear you had such a day of sad news. Sending you hugs(((((((Betty)))))).
I hope you have been able to get some sleep in. Glad you have crafts to work on and kind of keep the worry down a little bit.
I am glad you got some of your list taken care of.

Wow, Susan, so glad to hear DH found his Birth Certificate! After all that must have been stomack dropping for it to get lost.
Glad you got some stuff done too.

Mary, LOL DH works long and crazy hours, so i just couldn't get mad for him to take time to his self on a nice bike ride. He'll have to put it away soon so just let him enjoy. House stuff has been waiting this long, why not another day. Yesterday we tag teamed on the yard, so now it is finally finished everything put away shed re-organized for winter, and I did the final touch-up on house siding! Then a great fire outside, will be the last, too. Sigh, my season is done for real now.

So now We are having Thanksgiving dinner for In laws here...so having to scramble to get things done before Thursday and pack to go to house on Friday. Will be nice, just the 5 of us, no friends. I think my brother and wife will come on Friday...
So, i am going to get my greens from our Pines up there, We hopefully will also go tree hunting, as it has always been custom to bring home a tree.

Other then That..Still busy, busy.. grumbling tho, crazy light went back on in car! so i am back to driving it.Told the guy after this going to come back tomorrow hopefully light stays off. It seems to go on after 2.5 days. so maybe I can beat it this time...So have a good day, i am off to drive around for hours again.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ya'll they are probably upgrading it, or need to add some bandwidth. I'm sure they can buy 'speed.' lol You can't just run to Home Depot and buy an 'industrial' server.

Got to go to chiropractor, see ya'll in a while.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You still having trouble Crissy? You may have said but I'm not retaining a lot these days...are you going to your mom's for Thanksgiving?

Judy, you enjoy your weekend at the cottage, how nice to get to pick a tree in cottage country and bring home for the holidays...so many different types of greenery aren't there..

I've almost all I need for projects and my arrangements...need blue spruce so thought I'd go out and just buy a tree, don't decorate just cut limb and limb as I need it...

just talked to Sharon my sister and as she's coming up Saturday morning I've asked her to stop at Shenckle's Rose Nursery and pick up 10 doz. roses, carnations and baby's breath...hoping to at least make my main arrangments and set them out before everyone comes on Saturday...

Darlene has her class at my house today, all painting up a Christmas storm, called to say my brother is at my house finishing all the door trim, putting (I hope he has the time) a laundry room door and finish trim in back bedroom so I can hang new drapes...know he's not well, I spoke to him for a few seconds and his nerves are just shot..too much illness and financial difficulties..drats that insurance company...if only they knew what burden is put on people...let's hope something comes of it before he loses his home...called my SIL who works in Barrie court, says his request for court date will be end of Dec./early Jan. but after the date is set it might even be into late next year..he sure could use your prayers...but then, so many need prayers, let's do it as a blanket request for all in need...

Speaking of prayers..

On Friday this lady called, omg did she have problems..DD tried suicide, now placed in a home, left her 3 children just prior to doing so, then the sil found out mega debt incurred by wife, he's handicapped, courts put all the finances and management of the home on this poor mother..well I booked an appt. for her for 11;30 today..she got here at 11:00 and by 11;20 she got up and said she'd been insulted enough, doesn't figure she has to wait on anyone...told her that when an individual is in meeting with Paul their concerns are the upermost in his mind, if they are distraught and have more questions he'd sit with them until they are answered, but told her the good news is that he would and will do same with her...she stormed out and said she'd not wait..do know that her nerves are raw so sympathize with her....then the girls hearing our conversation looked at the calendar and her appt. wasn't until 11:30 so I called her back, got her recorder and told her of the error..she called me back and said she couldn't have made the error...anyway she came back, now in the meeting.. when she came in she was crying so hard, felt so bad...sure hope we have some of the answers....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Prayers for you "Tubby" and Shirley...

Tubby I'm sure you'd want me to post 'women's one flaw'...this is for you!

One Flaw In Women

Women have strengths that amaze men...

They bear hardships and they carry burdens,

but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy

and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in..

They stand up to injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer

when they believe there is a better solution..

They go without so their family can have.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel

and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about

a birth or a wedding.

Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They grieve at the loss of a family member,

yet they are strong when they

think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss

can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you

to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what

makes the world keep turning.

They bring joy, hope and love.

They have compassion and ideas.

They give moral support to their

family and friends.

Women have vital things to say

and everything to give.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty, sending prayers for Barrie, and for all those in need. This time of year is so hard on so many people! The economy is bad enough, and to have things like that happen. That poor lady. I do hope she can get some things fixed.

Betty that post is nice, and I hope she can find some help where you're at as well. Love the post.

I'm alright, just doing my 2 week appointments until next week, then I go once a week for two weeks, then once a month for the duration.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do you think going so few times Crissy that it will help? are you going to your mom's for Thanksgiving?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Forgot to add, now I know why I missed being here while off..you are all such 'earthly angels'...did miss you all....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Have been busy with mom and trips to the airport then finally get to sit down to the computer and can't get on!!!

Hugs and Prayers for all.......

Still have some things to do today will try to get on later if Dave's doesn't crash again.

Victoria Harbour, ON

you are one busy lady Trisha...

I am on msn with Sharon..she just lost 3 of her show dogs these past months..she just wrote:

I sold pup about 3 years ago to a friend in PEI that breeds samoyeds.... she was just diagnosed with early onset Alzeimers ... she's my age... the dog will be coming back to me

sad..that is another terrible disease...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my goodness, were they older dogs? So sorry to hear that!
Yes I agree about alzhiemers. Not fun at all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda Kay, one was 11 and the 2 others younger..all cancer...told her to check her well water and or the food..odd that 3 would have same...

The dog she is getting back is also a show dog..has Canadian Championship...Sharon is going to the Islands for Christmas and will pick it up when she gets back..or they will fly her here

Sharon says the dog is from PEI and it is a long drive in a blizzard..think I will pass on it..lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, so sorry for her loss! I know she puts a lot of work into the show dogs!
Tell her we are praying for her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Linda Kay...
Home, into jammies but can't sleep...have painting of doorstoppers to do, some touch up's, hang curtains..lol..that should take me until well past my bedtime...

Coming tomorrow to put in basement laundry room doors, had those folding ones, not the greatest but did the trick.. 3 more doors to purchase and all have been replaced..that's my Christmas present to who, to me of course..deserve it don't I..lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh good Lord my grandmother (mom's mom) had Alzheimer's. That's a horrible horrible disease for the person who have it and everyone else trying to take care of it. I am so so sorry for Sharon's friend, Betty.

I used to have a Samoyed too, great dogs but they love to get out of the back yard and roam and dig! Dig dig dig!!

No Betty I'm not going to my moms. She's going to her husband's family's, they always have a huge shin dig, and I have no idea what my dad and his girlfriend are doing. Every year me and Dave celebrate it by ourselves, we both cook Thanksgiving dinner for us. This year we have a 16 pound turkey :) :) :)

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sounds like we should all go to Crissy's house :)
