Victoria Harbour, ON

Was thinking the same Trisha...you got my message about getting your envelope today right? tks...appreciated...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hmmmmmmmmmm well, my DH brought home a turkey for thanksgiving, in Oct.
Too big so we put it in the freezer and got some turkey parts for Thanksgiving. He said we should have it at Christmas. I asked him what the difference was....... he said we would have more days off to eat left overs..........the size, you ask? Well, it's 28 lbs.............................................................We grow 'em BIG up here lol
I don't know what we're going to do with it all?
Wanna come visit @ Christmas?

~Susan~

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Ya'll! Last year and the year before we got 9 to 10 pound turkeys and they only lasted 2 days. We both LOVE fresh turkey and I can eat it everyday with no problemo

Come One, Come All!! We'd Love to have ya!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes, but what would you do with a 28 lb turkey???
You'd be eating turkey for a month, and so will we!!! LOL

~Susan~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon all..

Just had to share..

On Monday night on my way home I picked up a container of veggie soup but didn't eat it..got busy..or maybe it was the turkey sandwhich..lol..Bernie came for the day putting trim and new doors so I left him a note and said ' apples/soup/pop in the refrigerator for you for lunch' now you have to know with my schedule and this diet that there is little need for me to do major groceries, usually buy more for cats/dog than for myself...I eat out at lunch and supper might consist of picking something up to cook that day or a lean cuisine...

SOOO if you looked in my refrigerator what would you see...absolutely nothing...

This morning Bernie was back putting a door into laundry room from family room, called me here at the office to tell me he brought me a meat pie and apple pie that Charlene had made, said from the looks of my refrigerator I musn't have proper food to eat! Oh no, they think I'm too poor to purchase food..yikes..that's not good..even said I'd drop in and pay him for the last 2 days, said no, he just wanted to do it for me...I do think it's because of the NO FOOD situation..lol..meanwhile he's having terrible financial issues because of that insurance company...

So I'd best drop in tonight and clear the air..yes I have money, yes I can buy food and yes I can pay for hours worked...

OMG...

Soooo if you hear that rumour, please disregard!!!! lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL!
Betty, that has go to be so ebarrassing for you, but we know you are not poor! Not with all you do!

Please don't go to get a flu shot, the vaccine is being recalled!

Victoria Harbour, ON

wow...thanks Linda Kay...taking my chances, probably will regret it, but 50/50 right?

Well, going to enjoy meat and also the apple pie regardless...lol

Glenview, IL

Waiving hello...

Betty thats too funny! You'll have to remind Bernie you don't cook too much...hehehe.
Oh now, the meat pie and Apple pie sound delicious.

OH Happy Days here!! Drove for about 76 miles and many hours stop /go...Went back to mechanic, checked it out and said it was ready.
Zoomed right over to emissions testing place, another 12 miles and Ohwah!! my car Passed! It Passed!! no more running around and worrying, yippeee so excited. Now to order my sticker!

Yikes, thanks for the headsup LK, sure do appreciate that.

Almost finished cleaning up house for company.

Hows everyones day?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nothing like having safe and legal stickered vehicles Judy..lol..you are too cute...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

About time it got passed. Don't they have the stickers at the inspection garages? They do here.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I hate it when that happens! LOL Too funny though at the same time!

I didn't know that IL had smog stations! In CA smog stations don't have tags, still have to go to DMV to get them. In CA a Smog Station is a regular garage with the smog machinery in it. A lot of shop owners don't want to deal with the smog station so not all shops have them.
Here in AR it's weird. We don't have to get our cars Smog Checked here, but to get a tag we have to go to the Revenue office and pay the taxes on the thing, then to another office for something else, then to DMV to get the tag and/or plate. Usually these three offices are all in the same building all together, so it's not like your driving all over town, but it's really retarded the way it's set up. Here the license plates stay with the person, not the car, so when you buy a new car you have your plate with you and it gets put on the car that very second. If you don't have a plate for whatever reason it's easy to get a new one, they hand them out like candy, you get this white tag with the date you purchased the car and when the temporary tag expires.

Glenview, IL

Yeah, i agree LK...I was praying like mad that darned light would stay off.

No they don't have stickers at testing sight. A person has to either send in and receive it in the mail.
or go into the city to the main Il state ofr motor vehicles and obtain one immediately.
Our emmisions testing place puts the result right into the system so the they know my car passed.

Most likely i'll just drive into the city and get the sticker, So i have it! LOL, won't put it on until January tho just because I'e paid extra to have this extention, decided use it to the last penny!!
LOL, The guy asked me how much it cost for the repairs...Well 68 for a new $10 gas cap, 3 plus gas fills, at 45 each Hours and hours of wasted time driving...(not so wasted, Driving for me is when i get to think,Pray and jam to some good music) LOL, but it was all that time away from what I am working on in the house, Plus DH bickering with me over having to Drive and wasting gas...My days have gone off kilter which drives me bonkers. So thanks for keeping fingers crossed and added prayer, this nightmare is over!

So today finish cleaning and pack for the weekend. Kitchen is shiney clean for all the cooking! LOL, last night Steve come home to find Kitchen practically empty...ROFLOL, meaning everything put away, chairs in the other room, i was getting ready to mop...Told him all that was left was to mop, To my stunned surprise, he asked me to (run & get) the bucket! LOL, I was going to mop after dinner, he says why room is empty now...So he proceeded to mop the floor!! He is so good to me.

Hope you all are having a good day! last day of work for some!! Woohoo, long weekend at last.
OK, better get to work here...

Will be able to beebob back and forth today..see you in a bit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL..you always make me laugh Judy...yes, guess your Thanksgiving starts today right? ours is always on a Monday, so humdrum..only good thing is that it is in October and not November.wow lots of things to do for all of you inside of 1 month..How nice of Steve...so glad you got wheels, and yes, can hear you from here singing along with your tunes...you are NO backseat driver..lol..best you have your own wheels...

Didn't eat the meatpie last night, already had eaten my value points from w/w sooo did squeeze in the apple turnover..yum/yum...tonight, small meatpie so watching what I eat today..missed my cinnamon raisin bagel though..oh what we don't do to be thinner...hoping by Christmas I'll be down to 20lb less pounds..got to tell you, when I feel like snacking and thinking I'm getting nowhere, off I go to the grocery store, take 18 lbs. of butter and put them together and say to myself...'wow, that's a lot of fat'...so here I am still struggling..this morning was the first day I put a few tops away because I tried them on and they were much too big....that felt good...

Last night I was so tired, fell asleep on the couch while waiting for t.v. bingo to start..yuk woke up for game 4..only game 5 left...

Had mega cutting to do for Sunday workshop..handles for the primitive lanters..knew tired and band saw just don't mix so went to bed early, set the alarm for 4am...debated about getting up but I did...so much accomplished...handles done, cut 3 - 4' wood christmas trees / bases out for tonight's class and knowing Rita will be bringing her 4 year old grandaughter, took some scraps from the tree cuttings that also looked like trees, cut her a base and a little snowman and voila, she can work right along with us tonight....still had time to spare, knew the girls would only get the countersink drilling done and stain..stain just takes so long to properly dry so I stained all those pieces..including 2 sets of 'trio candles' just incase the little one wants more to paint...

Now here I am, thinking of the zillion things I could be doing..have 3 more lunch hours to go pick up supplies needed for the weekend projects..got all the wet oasis yesterday, have red berrie strands to pick up, 2 cords of lights for each of the kits, 2 pkgs. of ivy (fake) and some birds...so think at lunch I'll head out to garden gallery and look for blue jays and red cardinals..providing of course they aren't $5.00 each..then trays for the floral arrangements..think they'd have been better using fake pine greenery but nope, they want real so real it would be...

Just means that Sat. early a.m. I'll be on the concessions cutting branches off trees..lots I already have but I like to have a good mixture..besides, Sharon is picking me up 10 doz. of roses, baby's breath and carnations Sat. a.m. as she's coming up with a girlfriend...so, will need some for my house arrangements and those I do for friends....

Booked the last of my holidays for between Christmas/New Years, thinking of heading south on Christmas day...could have the family over Christmas eve then get going...still not sure..something I'm debating with but thought I'd best ask for the time because if I don't means no go when the time comes that I decide I'd like to...

Mild today, 45 degrees...Andrew who plows for me called last night to see if I wanted him to come this year..yes I do, most certainly..he went to my page and he started to plow Nov.17th and didn't stop until late March...so it being the 25th..ohhh 1 month until Christmas....he's enjoying not plowing....

So now that I've rambled on, what are you doing with your day! Love to hear about your thanksgiving...

No long weekend this week - thank goodness, cuz I'd Never get all my work done!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, ALL MY FRIENDS ACROSS THE BORDER!!!

~Susan~

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - so glad you didn't mix Tired with Band Saw! With your history of hurting yourself before Christmas, you Don't Want To Do That Again!! (if I hafta be stern with you, I can!! Took Tough Love, so I's Ready, Girl!!)
So sweet of you to include Rita in the Tree workshop. I'm sure she'll love being included ^_^

Take care,
Susan

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my goodness Betty, you never stop to amaze us, with all you have going on! Glad to hear you are still losing weight, and having to get smaller clothes! Nice job.
Todd and I will have a Thanksgiving to ourselves, and will take extra platesd of turkey and ham to the base, to some of the single guys and gals!
Judy, glad to hear you are finished with the car problems, and that hubby helps out with the house work!
I am trying to finish up a few quilt blocks for the months of Dec, and Jan, to get them out of the way. Having problems with Dec, as directions for cutting, don't fit directions for sewing? Waiting for someone to explain it better.

Later
LK

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes, congrats Betty, on the w/w weight loss!
Actually, with all you do, I'm surprised you're not toothpick sized!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay how nice of you both to delivery home cooked meals to the base..am sure they miss their families and it's appreciated...makes you feel good as well...

LOL, you be stern Susan, I'm sure I'll listen..lol...

You know, I asked my doctor once with all I do and never stopping WHY I wasn't thin..he said that all I do is normal for me so in order to shed pounds I'd have to add something else into my activities..lordy would do it but when?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

o my gosh, DO MORE, Betty? You wear me out just reading about what you do.....
you inspire me, too.
I'm getting my DH inspired as well. I have the "night off" again tonight, so going to kick back and really get some more done. I was supposed to help the Sunday School teacher to clear the cupboards at the church last night, but she's terribly sick and can't be there. Tonight's one of those nights that's never scheduled for anything, so I usually work late, but Not Tonight. My house Really Needs Me - I can hear it crying out............ "Susan, dust me; Susan, tidy me; Susan...... Susan......... Susan......." I can't ignore it anymore.

I have some of my boxes of Christmas decorations in the house, some are as close as the deck (took them out of the shed), and some are still hidden waaaaaaaaaaay back in the shed (behind all the summer stuff like the umbrella, etc).
I hope to leave work on time (and while it's still light a bit) to get the rest of the stuff out of the un-lit shed - it's in a very dark part of the back yard.

Here's hoping I get the house ready, and decorated, before we go to Edmonton on the 4th for my DH's company party. I still can't believe how generous they are - there's no cost for the party, they're putting us up for the night at a beautiful hotel (king-size bed! we'll get lost in it lol), and we may stay an extra night just for the heck of it. It's normally $165 Cdn, but they'll charge $135 for the 2nd night. hmmmmmm swimming pool, etc..... sounds good to me! But, it means I won't be able to do anything else that weekend (other than league bowling on Sunday night).

chat atcha later, peeps!

~Susan~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, that sounds like a wonderful week-end for sure.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yes, we only have to pay for our driving. Not sure if we can afford the $135 this close to Christmas, but it would be lovely to do it. We'll see......

~Susan~

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning!

Just making it here, I'm at work until who knows how long, sometimes the boss lets us go early, sometimes he doesn't. It doesn't really matter, don't have anything to do after work anyway.

Dave's family is at it again, those people couldn't keep a steel pole straight. Dave got a call from his dad the day before yesterday saying that Thanksgiving is at Cousin Alice's who lives just East of Dallas, TX. Well that's about a 3 hour drive for us and Dave has to work tonight until 11, then Friday through the weekend so we weren't going to go. Dave was thinking that his dad was just calling because someone needed something, they don't call otherwise. Dave called me last night and said that since we have a 16 pound turkey between the two of us we're going to take our leftovers over to his dad's house. I asked about Alice's, he said that his Dad had it all screwed up, Alice never said she was having Thanksgiving in the first place, Dave's dad tried to invite the whole family to her house without her knowing it!

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Susan, $135.00, how far is it from your house? No wonder they are paying for the room..generous for sure...we usually all go out for lunch at Mandarin so that's enjoyable..

Know about the back shed..too far away from my house to be able to run hydro..once the new year comes, think I'll save my $$$ and get a bigger shed built..one I can put my woodworking equipment in and for storage..we'll see...remember the quilting bees' everyone got together to do a quilt..think I'll tell them it's a 'barn/shop bee' and get all those nephew in the business and my kids to come one weekend...think I'll try that...

Well, just finished putting up the office tree..needs decorations so Paul gave me $$$ and at lunch I'll go pick up more lights/decorations..so laughing, it's right in the mall that I need to pick up the ivy and red berries...ohhhh kill 2 birds with one stone...

Wonder if I could do that tomorrow...

He's not replied to my request for time off...Suzanne hinted he was thinking of giving everyone the week off between Christmas/New years so maybe he's waiting to give us heads up..cross your fingers...

Lordy my adrenaline is pumping overtime...happens when I've mega things to do, get them done but body doesn't know that it's time to relax....lol...wish I lived closer to you all, I'd come help you do some projects..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, that would have been a big mess! Glad you got it fixed. Does his Dad have alzhiemers?

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL they do get things mixed up don't they Crissy..now where would the Uncle who spent time with you this summer go for Thanksgiving..omg only 3hrs from your place to Dallas...hmmmm...Crissy how far did you drive from Memphis that time we met up to your house?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I'm in Calgary, and Edmonton is 2 1/2 hrs from us.
I've never seen West Edmonton Mall (I used to live in the area they tore down in order to build it). We'd like to see it, although I've been told it's not what it used to be when they hyped it up at the beginning.

Oh gosh - poor Alice, if everyone showed up at her place - it could have been Very embarrassing........

I wish we had an office tree. Don't really have anywhere to put one, either - other than the small 1 1/2 ft tree (music box, actually) I put on my file cabinet, and other decorations around.
I'm trying to bring the Christmas spirit to work, and was going to put on a luncheon in one of the boardrooms, but that got kiboshed...... in favour of a lunch at a chinese restaurant.
I love chinese food, but would rather have had a High Tea - gold plated serving cutlery, silver tea service, real napkins, Christmas decorations, etc......
I WILL have a High Tea later, where negative influences won't be invited LOL
I think I'll wait until Jan or Feb, and by then the "other" admin assistant won't be here - she'll be full-time in her new position. Hopefully they get someone to replace her that is open to new ideas and I can work alongside. When the previous assistant was here, she didn't put down my ideas and wasn't intimidated by me. Why must some people be so negative?

Ok, enuff negativity from ME lol

~Susan~

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL..I'll come to your high tea Susan...

10 more minutes then off shopping...
Son Jeff is coming her for a meeting with Paul and Colin (lawyer) not quite sure what $$$ interest Jeff has in this company but am sure it's something..won't ask..I often laugh, said that's why they keep me on, no work doing crafts..a make work project for mom..lol...

Just kidding..he just says 'you'll never know'

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Your coming would be enuff excuse for me to have a High Tea, Betty!!!
So c'mon, and give me an excuse LOL
Maybe we'll have "dainties" LOL
I heard years ago that, in Ontario, dainties are women's underthings. Yet, in Manitoba (right next door to Ontario), they're the squares, cookies, and other sweet treats you have for tea, Baby showers, etc. How terribly funny, eh?

~Susan~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yep, undies it is....not the walmart type either..lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Dave's dad has no problems at all, other than a fat head with a very small egotistical brain inside. He's not a nice man.
Here's the lowdown:

He screws things up on purpose in hopes of getting something free, he's done this Dave's whole life which is why he has Nothing. He's the one that will sell you a pile of junk for $500.00 and laugh all the way to the bank, but fortunately, his junk looks like junk.

He called Dave today laughing that his 'plan' of 'Thanksgiving at Alice's' didn't work out. He told Dave that he made that up so Eller, Dave's aunt/his sister, would take him all the way to Dallas, knowing Alice couldn't turn them away for Thanksgiving Dinner once they arrived at her door. Dave has absolutely no respect for the man and I steer away as far as I can otherwise he's calling me.

He made up this whole heart attack thing a few months ago, first he was stuck in the tub and wanted Dave to take time off work to come pick him up out of the bathtub, like Dave can lift a 350 pound 6 foot 4 inch man by himself (Dave's 200 pound 5 foot 8 inches)! Plus he wanted his lawn mowed for free. Dave couldn't leave work so they called me at work wanting me to come over and pick him up out of the bathtub.(LOL) I told his wife Bobbie, she's the one that called, that they were all nuts and they needed to get MedicAlert and to call an ambulance! He got himself out of the bathtub, Eller said he just stood right up! Bobbie called an ambulance, the hospital ran all the tests and released him saying all of his tests were darn near perfect, he had no heart attack or anything remotely close to it, not even an anxiety attack. He admitted about a week later that there was nothing wrong, he just wanted Dave to take time off work and help him, which Dave couldn't because it wasn't an emergency, fortunately Dave knows his dad and all of his tricks. Unfortunately Dad cries wolf all the time, but all of the women fall for it every time, Dave knows better. What's bad is there really is going to be an emergency and Dave's not going to believe it because of years and years of crying wolf.

Betty LOL I drove 3 hours But Dave has to work tonight and Friday, plus we already have everything to cook us a dinner, and Dave's dad gets things mixed up on purpose, he believes the family he created owes him for creating them, seriously, that's what he told me. He's a very very selfish man.

Uncle Roy isn't here, he's at home in Sunnyvale, CA with his girlfriend and her kids and grandkids, I'm sure one of his sons will drop in his house also, they always have a good crowd for Thanksgiving. Before we moved we would spend Thanksgiving at his house, LOL!

Good Grief enough of that drama! Whew!!

Tree is up, now where are the pressies...told Paul I was bringing in empty decorated boxes for under the tree and feel free to fill them..

Also said he wasn't sure if he was giving everyone the week off between Christmas and New Years, if he doesn't then my request for time off has been granted...so now decisions to be made..

wow Crissy, how would you ever plan anything? Me thinks you best stay home, cook that big turkey and relax in a stress free environment

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

AAWWWWW Betty, that's so pretty! I wish Ms. Cheerful would be happy about this time of year and get things done like that, but she never has and never will. Tomorrow's her birthday, anniversary, Thanksgiving, and what would have been her parent's anniversary. I'm finally seeing what's going on, she dwells on the sad and negative. She got married on her parent's anniversary, now her anniversary and birthday are sad because her parents are gone. It obviously hasn't always been this way, or has it?

Hopefully Betty he'll give the whole office the week off and you won't have to use your time off for it, but either way you have the week off! Woo Hoo!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

We don't include them in our plans, I wish we could but we can't. If we go into Malvern to eat at the Mexican restaurant there and Eller finds out about it, she gets mad and will call both of us separately and chew us up one side and down the other about how we didn't invite her to buy her dinner. Of course if we call and invite her, she will hang up with us and invite Dave's dad, which he is going to bring his wife, Eller is going to bring her strung out daughter and her three sons, and not tell us until it's too late.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
