Hello - just a quick post.
Yes, I got my BOM done, and a new set picked up yesterday.
AND because I was in a quilt store, I (blush) picked up some more fabric.........
I'm not happy with the colours of the BOM this month - at least one of the fabrics anyway. It's an off-colour, pale, turquoise, and although I like turquoise, I'd rather it was a jewel-tone rather than a faded imitation..... BUT my quilting friend said, unless I had enuff in my "stash" to replace it, and any other blocks that may call for the same colour (and a very light background), I shouldn't change it........ siiiiiiiiiiigh.
Anyway, I'm going to have a nap before supper and bowling..... I'm tired.
cya later - take care, and God bless.
~Susan~
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends
AAAKKKKK!!! screaming you were gonna burn that material??
OMG, thank you for thinking of meee, I will gladly save it from certain melting.
Look how pretty the Snowman is to, thank you Betty. LOL, your table cloth is pretty too. Oh I like that idea big time with clear plastic.
Thought about it an never do. sigh.
Heheh, you weren't too far off this morning. craft table in full swing, sitting at computer chattering away with my coffee, kids sleeping, but yay so was Steve. On the weekends, i let him sleep as long as he can. Right now he's got 4 huge projects going, lol tools every where, i just hope he keeps track of them. When he got up Then he made food, heheh.
It was cold today and we had unexpected company so we didn't get outside, sigh...so meantime finished up laundry, and started working on cutting strips of pretty paper. Getting a fire going now, it's cold in here...He took Jake to see the movie 2012 asked if i wanted to go but I wanted to chat and work on my projects.
Yes, i can feel that you did all the cards and cutings with love. It's alot of work. What straight tree? Oh better not tell or I'll be stopping everything to do those and I'm on a roll...The angel cards, i'll be sending to friends and family i know will appreciate the work into them, thats why i am only doing 32. Most likely I will be sending them sparatically, knowing me might only end up making 10-15...lol, I know shaking your head.
So, i am thiinking we will be getting to see what you've done today...Did work in one place or here there and everywhere. LOL, that my kind of decorating. hehehe, here there & everywhere I mean. Love seeing your pretties, lol what a coincidents, I have some of those same items!! Big smile.
You are too cute Judy, yes I know you've a few of same..like the 5' standing Santa right? told you to put it outside in front of the house with lights on, would look so pretty..won't get damaged, promise, mine has been out in the snow/blizzard for 5 years..a few touch ups to his bag (flower arrangement) but that's it..a five minute fix..
Got the main tree in the basement decorated..the one on front deck doesn't get decorated...the french cafe has a tree, it's decorated, now I'm on the living room tree..not a large one, just wanted one for in front of the front window...
Feeling hungry and want to stop but know if I do, then that is it..figure if I work till nine, everything well be done except for the flower arrangements made at the end of the month..the front lawn deer, well they need new lights..now that I have a back deck (made from love) I'll decorate it, Greg was here and asked why on earth I'd decorate a back deck when absolutely no one would ever see it....told him from time to time I just might go sit in the back bedroom, look out at what was my gardens, dream of what is to come..he just shakes his head...not sure he understands his mom...
Finally took the pump out of the pond this afternoon, cleaned it up..saw Sailor getting inside for a drink of water..that's a no/no when it's down to it's lowest level, so refilling for the winter so that animals can't get their claws into the liner and put holes in it...so pleased with that bit of work...
Speaking of work, best I get going or that's the end of my day...much too much to do to sit and chat..perhaps tomorrow when I'm at work..lots of time then..lol
Judy, will post a few photo's...
Gosh you guys have such full lives, that you keep fuller. I admire that. It must be so fun at Betty's house at all the holidays and especially this time of year. I love those swatches by the way.
Dawn, sure wish you lived closer..enjoy you would...one year perhaps you'll come and visit during the holidays..am sure Greg would enjoy the snow, snowmobiles, all around Christmas...
My most favorite time of year...
You know Dawn, I remember decorating for Christmas, Roger used to say, 'if you are in the telephone book, I'm sure you are on her list' no word of a lie, I'd work almost all year to be able to dress as Mrs. Claus and he Mr. Claus and we'd go from house to house, those of friends/relatives on Christmas year...
He'd curse (joyfully though) that taking out 50's of boxes was a bit much...his dying New Years Day took all the Christmas spirit out of Christmas..remember mom and friends going to my place before I came home alone to remove everything...shortly thereafter I gave everything away...for many years my house went without a decoration, no signs of Christmas...then I found it was more than sadness for my loss but that I had lost much of myself...I started to get more pieces and lordy it might take me a few more years but I'm sure I'll have same amount..love visiting friends/family now, especially my children's homes as they took most of it and see it decorate theirs....
I must be tired/always ramble when I'm tired..guess you've gathered that...still more work ahead so best I not linger...
Welllll will I do that again? Probably not without the tiller first. I know how to get a rock out of the tines but I don't know if I can get anyone to risk their tiller. I do know a couple of guys with tractors with grading blades. Maybe they will help. Of course, most of this will be in the spring.
I need to catch up but not now, actually want to work on those pillow cases I have been embroidering for a year now LOL
Dave is more than likely going to get laid off, he was told Friday at 4:45. Ya'll are going to love this, his last day will be January 8th and when they start hiring again they will probably call him back, sometime in 2011. He's very bummed about it and I can't stop worrying and am praying constantly. He works for Hawker Beechcraft Private Jet company, I don't know of many people buying private jets these days. Because of the cost of these things, they are the first to fall and the last to come back, retail hasn't even came back yet. His benefits continue while he's laid off for two years, so that's good.
I'm going to go embroider and catch up later, but by the time I get back I'll be so far behind I'll think I'm ahead! LOL
Oh Crissy, praying that something will come up in the meantime that allows them to keep him on..you must be terribly worried...listened to Joel Olsteen this morning and it was about thinking and praying for the best, trusting the Lord..it's in HIS hands, he can work miracles, hoping there is one for you and Dave...might have to wait just a bit though as he's already working on one for "Tubby" and Shirley...
Now put down those pillowcases and get the unfinished santa out...lol...then on to the pillowcases...
You made me laugh Betty, don't know anyone either than would let you use their tiller knowing about the rock..lol...could a plough get threw your yard without doing mega damage?
There was a parcel at the post office the other day, was picked up for me but just couldn't get to meet up with each other..just took a drive over, look at the pretty birdhouse I got...isn't it a beauty..included were a few bags of birdseed as well..talk about excited...
Have to ask myself now 'do I put seed out for the birdies all winter or wait until spring?'.. much too nice to put outside..keep saying that for all the birdhouses I've gotten in the swaps so can't keep them all inside now can I?
This 'treasure' was from Dimmer (Flamingo Kim)...
Thanks for keeping me company..
Time for bed...
Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow...
Crissy..sending hugs, know you need them...arms wrapped around you tightly...
AAwwww thank you Betty. It's a stressful situation, that's for sure. Dave said that he can draw employment benefits for 2 years, I just heard from a gal here in the office that her sister just had to switch jobs from a layoff at another private jet company here in Little Rock and she could only draw for 6 months! I just keep thinking that Dave hasn't left me broke yet, guess he won't now. LOL He is a workhorse, that's for sure.
Still sending up prayers for Tubby and Shirley.
Good Morning.
Oh Betty, Look at how festive you home is. So pretty.
Awww...Bummer you couldn't find phone, hope the search is over.
LOL, I saw you were posting photo's after I called contimplated trying again but then Julia, asked to make an angel card so got involved with that. Got to tell you she was really enjoying it. Said it was very calming. And I hae to tell you she was very patient cutting tape to perfect size, lol told her I didn't have that kind of patients...I did get some strips cut and created another angel too.
I also have been enjoying all the parts, kind of reminds me of work, which make me miss all my big toys. paper cutter's drills, etc.
LOL but at least I have the basics...
Crissy, So sorry to hear about Dave. Well, I guess on the up side at least he knows so can go about a job search.
Here unemployment is based on an employees service time. I know people who are still drawing (me included) and others who only recieved 1-6 months...and i know mine will be ending soon...
Wishing Him the Best of luck in search, hopefully it won't be long.
Yes, Prayers go daily...
Well, i am back to square 1 with my car! light's back on...Steve, said wait till he checks this new mechanic out, if he did a good job on Julia's car we will take my car to him..Oh man i am running out of time now and getting quite frustrated. grrr.
Waiving Hello to all, hope your enjoying the day so far.
Judy, could hear all three phones ringing, lordy don't know why I take the one from the bedroom, nor the one from the living room and that of the craft room..you'd think I could answer it and put it back in the craddle, but no, not me, doesn't make it easier, know when the phone will ring just as it starts, you have no idea of the noise Sailor makes..something about the ring has her howling and crying...found 1 in a tote that I was going to bring back to the shed for storage..imagine trying to find that one at a later time...now back in order...
How wonderful for her to enjoy making the cards, gave you both something to sit and enjoy together, some mom/daughter moments...could you con her into cutting templates for you..lol
Look at Skittles, adorable...
Skittles is Too Cute! LOL Betty I do that with one phone, I couldn't handle having 3 phones, I'd have them all lost and never to be found again!
Ann from another thread posted the following..could NOT, not post it here....
Mother Teresa's Anyway Poem
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.
Lovely! I'm often caught in the 1st part, and try to do the 2nd part.
I've been called flippant and an airhead because I choose to see the brighter side of life and people, because I'd rather smile than frown, be energetic than lazy and helpful rather than tell people "It's not my job".
It's because I care......
~Susan~
bETTY IS VERY GOOD. oop caps again half my keys don't work then i hit the caps.
i love birds but yesterday Andre got hold my hand and bit and hung on its so sore. he neveer did tha till hus. came back he is always snapping at me.

Sounds as though Twyla you've lots of furry/feathered friends to love you up..perhaps birdie was trying to tell you something! lol..
How are the grandchildren, are you still grandma sitting? what ages would they be now, still quite young I think...
BRRR chilly out there, have to start me car and let it run for a few minutes...hopefully won't get a 'ticket' for it...
Off and running...
Betty, they give you a ticket for warming up your car?
We're not allowed to let it run..don't know how they expect one to get rid of the 1" of ice on windshields...heavy duty fines re carbons while idling..
just started this past year...guess they feel one should have a garage...best they pay and build me one right? on second thought I'd turn it into a workshop so that wouldn't help..lol
lol yeah, I'd do the same, Betty - a workshop would be nice, especially when it's raining and I could do all sorts of stuff....... when I'm not at work, and that's not often. Y'know what I mean......
~Susan~
Trisha, are you making Santa faces yet?
Crissy I will pray for you and your family. I know all too well what is going on in the economy, despite what they tell us.
I just got laid off, nothing to do with the economy, and can not as of yet, find a job and my h may go on strike and are working without a contract right now. The company says the economy is a factor but there is so much more too it, there always is, but we just want to work and not lose our home.
Thank the Lord that EDD has extensions now and a lot of resources and the stimulous package adds an extra $30 to my check.
Betty I love it, it looks like my favorite anitique stores, the ones that smell good and give you a warm fuzzy. You would probably love this product called Scentsy, it is scented wax cubes that go in these wonderful warmers and your house smells like cupcakes or whatever. I use it all the time for the last few years since my friend started selling it and it truley does beat candles in many ways. I still burn some though, if I want a scent that they don't have at present.
You have the right idea. The family will always feel warm and loved with that spirit of Christmas, as your legacy.
Dawn, that's the basic principle we all lived by, work hard, have a home, family well fed..it's really sad that things have come to this..enough worry for everyone let alone worry about a job...makes me terribly sad..know that we're busy/busy, I'm with a bankruptcy firm, hate to think I'm earning a living on the misfortune of others, but then I think they do need people like we who are looking out that they aren't taken advantage of...
Dawn, is what you are talking about little squares like chocolate bars and you break them and put them on a heater? I don't purchase a lot of candles, always hate to burn them as they are sooo pretty , now I purchase the flameless ones, buy better quality and a few have different scent, you'd swear they were real...I especially like them when putting them in floral arrangements...
Ohhhh Christmas is sooo my time of year...went out for lunch, everyone shopping, smilling enjoying the day..Christmas music playing...puts me in a happy mood...
Greg and Melanie are coming over tonight...Jeff's (my youngest) 40th birthday is coming up so thought I'd have a party for him on the 5th..guess no going to Hamburg N.Y. again..lol...so we'll plan and make a guest list..now to make sure he shows up..lol
Had some good news yesterday..not sure if I told you about it..
Paul is opening a few more offices in Ontario, all calls will come to one telephone system for assessing the initial call..asked me if I'd like to move to Midland should he be doing it..have my own little office, just me, more time for crafts..lol..when in Toronto it was 1 1/2 hr. drive each way, then at Christmas we moved to Barrie..45 minutes away and now perhaps to Midland only 15 minutes away..getting excited..not sure if I should, he's moving me closer to home...last stop might be my house..lol
I just got off the phone with Dave, I have been looking at jobs everywhere, especially with the Federal Government here in Arkansas. I don't know if it's fortunate or not, I don't think so, but his lay off is because of the economy, people aren't buying private jets right now and we can thank the GM Brain Surgeons for that, everything was fine until they showed up begging for money in their Private Jets. Anyway, Dave says that it's not written in stone, he's not looking for a job because he wants to retire from there, and he's sure he will be called back 'sometime.' Plus Unemployment might get him some training in Medical Transcription LOL!! He's never done that in his life, doesn't mean he can't learn, but at 48 years old I think he should stick to what he knows and has done for 30 years, maybe get more training in that... LOL
Now seriously, I don't know, this is not good and with Dave being the way he's being it's not helping any, there's no reason he can't start looking for a job now.
Dear Friends:
Well, it's been awhile since I've updated you on Tubby. Well, we are still at UNMC and Tubby had another Craniotomy Monday and they will be doing a CT guided needle biopsy on the lungs tomorrow. So far nothing has shown up. They will decide what the discharge plan is after tomorrow. I'm afraid they are going to want to send him to an Acute Rehab facility or a Skilled Nursing facility. I am going to give them a fight if they don't let me take him home. I know he will recover better there where I can be with him and the dogs. I'm afraid he will become depressed and not try if he goes anywhere else. Wait and see.
The bug they think he has is called Nocardia. It's a nasty one and a long recovery. You can get it from soil. I will decide when to tell him that part. The treatment can take up to a year on anibiotics. We will take it one day at a time. I am hoping and praying for the best. They think he has had another stroke in the few days. Trying to do these procedures and keep his blood thin enough for the mitral valve has been another problem. That is the risk that we take. He's memory isn't the greatest but never so bad it couldn't be worse. We continue to do excersises in bed with his legs and arms. He doesn't always want to do it, but usually if I say Nursing home he changes his mind. He sticks his tongue out at me, but that's okay. I know he still has the onoriness and fight that he'll need to succeed.
I read about you guys getting ready for the holidays and I get jealous. Maybe after we are at home for awhile I can start to get into it. We'll see what happens. Best wishes and God speed to everyone and I'll try to chat with you more in a couple of days.
Love to Everyone and thank you for the prayers.
Love Tubby & Shirley
Shirley please give Tubby a big hug for all of us. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you both and say a prayer for you. I hope everything works out for Tubby to go home with you, it really does help and make a difference to be in familiar surroundings with loved ones and with our furry four legged children. I know what you are going through, take care of yourself ....sending a big hug to you also.
Love and all our best wishes,
Trisha
Hello To All;
Betty - I didn't realize you worked that far from home...maybe a shorter commute would allow you more time for all the Projects that you do?
HUGS to Tubby & Shirley....please keep us posted....
Crissy - I feel for you guys... Although my own fate at work is so uncertain (because I've been there 4 months now....promised accounts to get me to my old pay scale...and not received them as of yet) I'm constantly reminding myself to just keep the faith. Just know that It will all work out in the long run. Without telling myself that...I would be just completely crippled in worry....So please PLEASE have faith that this was meant to be...and the situation you will find yourself in will be much better....
Hey Judy - Love Skittles...so pretty...what beautiful colors.... Did the guys like the movie 2012? Trying to decide if I should plan to see it or wait for the DVD.....
Hello To everyone.....LK, Trisha, Sharran, Dawn, Bev,Susan, Twila, Dawn and EVERYONE ELSE!
WHAT is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?
BEST: BUSY day...lots of appointments....possible new client annual business
WORST: miscommunication about my last appointment...which I was really looking forward to...
Learned: DS mentioned considering the Armed Forces as a career. This may just be a passing comment...I don't know. But I had to address with him "texting in class" and he was very understanding about it. If the problem stops...then I will have learned that he is old enough to reason with him about other people's feelings and have him understand and change the behavior.
Headed out to email the Band Director...to let him know ....to tell me if DS texts in class tomorrow
30 degree's possible tonight! WOW! going to post a Picture of the beginning of the "Path of Least Resistance" in the backyard...taken about 3 weeks ago.... You can't really see in the pic...but I had blooms on all my hibiscus that day !
HUGS to all,
Mary
Gosh - about 3 of us "cross- posted"....good to hear from you all Crissy, Trisha, and Tubby & Shirley!
Glad you are all on....good to hear from you all!
Shirley - you're a wonderful woman, and Tubby's lucky to have you.
I say quiet prayers that God hears, every day for you both. You're right he needs to be in his own home.
I'd heard of that disease you get from soil........ it's a nasty one from what I hear.
His pure ornoriness is good to hear lol
Sounds like he'll need to wear gloves when he's gardening again.
Love & prayers are sent from me to you both. Take care, and God bless.
btw - I haven't gotten a lick of decorating done, so don't feel jealous of me lol
~Susan~
hahaha 4 cross-posters!!
~Susan~
SHHhhhhhhh!
Don't tell my husband....I'm a "Cross-Poster" !
lol
funny girl!
Morning everyone. 38 degrees when I woke up this morning, so it looks like I will be keepin a close eye onthe temps, so I can cut the angel trumpets if need be. I don't want to lose them!
Tubby and Shirley, please know you are both in our daily prayers. Please take care, and keep us posted.
Betty, are you awake yet?
You girls made me spit up my coffee...cross posters...hmmmmm !
Mary, yes my travels to work have greatly improved..Barrie seems like a hop/skip and a jump compared to travelling to Toronto each and every day..still, we're in the winter storm belt here in Barrie, not quite as bad in Midland so am crossing my fingers that this will be last winter driving the 400 Hwy. series....
OMG 30 degrees, that's almost our weather...bundle up, turn the heat on...just love your gardens...I kept the last photo you send me..I can only dream of such an oasis...thanks for sharing..
Judy as always enjoyed gabbing...here I was listening to you, watching the numbers come up for bingo on the jackpot..no go..oh well, perhaps next week...have fun crafting...now I'm updated on your family and you mine...sure wish you lived closer..perhaps not, we'd get into mega trouble wouldn't we...
Liz, missing you..best you drop in more often..hows 'grannie' and 'hubby' doing ... ok..Judy told me he's going back to his old job..hip hip hoorah! how's work going?
Shirley, again thanks for the update...thank goodness he's joking around, that alone must make you feel he's somewhat on the mend...omg never heard of a disease caught through working with earth...would it be contamination in certain areas? what would he do without his gardens...would have to find alternatives to fill in his day...I can just see you go after the hospital saying 'no, he's coming home' you being a nurse I'm sure can give him better care and know when he's needs to go back in....tell him we miss him terribly...prayers for you my dear, how overwhelmed you must be feeling...know we're all praying for you and yours and that we cannot wait to get up one morning and see our 'joke' of the day...hugs 'Tubby'
Linda Kay, we're doing what the girls were doing last night, cross posting...do you dig up the angel trumpets and house them through the winter or is it the flowers you are cutting for arrangements?
Never think of Texas getting that cold.... I've a few friends that travel to Texas rather than Florida for the winter...they so enjoy..maybe next year I can fit in their r.v. to get to Florida, rent a car and go sightseeing...I can only wish! How have you been feeling, o.k. and your dad..will he be coming back and staying the winter with you are has he decided to stay on at your brothers? so many questions right...
