Just an acre of yard... Oh poo, I don't have any pics on the computer since I had to reformat the hard drive. Just a sec, I'll show you pick of my yard last summer....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well apparently my pics of my yard didn't get put on my thumb drive, now I'll definitely have to take new pics!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Sorry Bonnie, I thought I had them on this thumb drive, that makes me mad but I do have them on the computer at work, so I'll just take new pics tomorrow.

Randall and I just got back from a walk, then bagels, garden veggie cream cheese, and fresh bananas for brunch. Y'all are welcome to join us.

Have talked my old HS friend into joining my Y for my water class. He just emailed that he's joined up. He's unsteady on his bum foot (motorcycle accident), getting worse, plus ballooned up huge, and is losing mobility, flexibility and breath. Told me his doc put him on a diet. He's always been large but fit. Figured he needed exercise buddy, and so do I to keep me committed to going. Can y'all tell my energy is coming back?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I haven't had a chance to read, but I wanted to let you know what's been going on with me...

Boy, I wished I'd been here this past week!

The bonfire was fun. Had about 40 people and the weather was just right in my opinion. Bill's brother and nephew stayed with us until Monday and on Monday I started watching Kavin and Colby (2 1/2 and 6 mos.) for a week while Mom worked her final week before moving to Florida.

Well, Tuesday, Kavin was soooo constipated he spent the whole day grunting and whining. His mom said he'd been constipated for about a week, with just a little every once in awhile. So when she picked him up Tuesday evening, I told her about how miserable he'd been that day and she said she thought she should take him to the Dr. On Wednesday I was supposed to watch them starting at 1:30 and have them overnight. She called me at 10:00 and said she was on her way to Children's hospital with Kavin, and could I watch Colby. Of course, I said yes. Kavin had an impacted bowel. About the size of a softball. Poor baby. Anyway, she took him to Childrens and they gave him a laxative and an enema. Nothing happened. So they sent her home with him and told her if nothing moved to bring him back. So she had to take him back about 5:00 and they gave him another laxative and enema. At 11:00 pm he fell asleep (still no bowel movement). So by morning, he still hadn't had a movement so she called her Dr. (she works at an Urgent Care place) and he said, get an enema, and bring him here and we'll give it to him. So at about noon, she called me and said she was on her way to Children's again cause nothing had happened from that third enema. Her Dr. told her to go to the hospital and tell them that they weren't leaving until that impaction was gone. So they finally x-rayed him and said oh that was never going to pass with enemas...doesn't that just tick you off????
So they had to put a tube down his nose, through his stomach and into the bowel and push it out with liquid. They told her after they put the tube in they'd have to x-ray to make sure the tube was in the right place, cause if it wasn't, the fluid would go in his lungs. So about an hour after they x-rayed him, they came back and said they had to redo it cause it wasn't in the right place....it took 5 of them to hold him down and finally Chris had to get in bed with him and wrap her legs around him and put his head on her stomach so they could get the tube down. They had to put casts on his arms so he couldn't putt the tube out. What a terrible thing for a little two year old to go through. They didn't start the fluid until about 11:00 pm and when I talked to her at 8:00 the next morning he still hadn't moved the impaction. They had to turn it off at 4:30 am cause he started vomiting. Then they restarted it at 5:30. The good news is, he finally got it all out and got home from the hospital at 4:00 on Friday.

So I had Colby from 10:00 am on Wednesday until yesterday at 10:00. He was such a good baby. He slept great for me and ate great and amused himself pretty good. I just haven't had the chance to be on the computer at all!

Yesterday, I was outside a long time. I had cabin fever from being in so long. It was a lovely day and today is even better!

I had/have errands to run, but wanted to take a minute to check in.

I'm sorry to hear of you that are having health issues, and hope you're feeling much better today.

I won't be gone so long this time!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good afternoon all!

Well, speaking of health issues - I'm been foolish (oh DUH!! I've been it before, and I'll be foolish again lol)
I've been extolling the virtues of ColdFX, and when I started to get sick I took a knockoff (ColdFX is costly, so I got cheap). Well, obviously the knockoff isn't as good, so that's why I'm still bronchial.........
So, now that I'm not shaking this, I'm going to get the real McCoy this afternoon! And That's That!!
I didn't go to choir practice on Thursday, and didn't go to church today (paid for going to the Christmas party on Friday, and over-doing it!!)
I think, while I'm at it, that I'll get some Buckleys....... I have some Nightime, but need the Daytime stuff.............

Anyway, off to IKEA (for work-related shopping), then get the ColdFx, do some grocery shopping then off to bed! I don't think I'll try bowling tonight......... want to be able to go to work tomorrow.

Everyone take care, and God Bless you all!!

Special prayers for those in need.....

editted to add - we cross posted Susan - hope you get to feeling better.

Thanks, Bon - I intend on getting better ^_^
We "superwomen" can't get sick!! lol
btw - they haven't issued my red cape yet, at work - d'ya think there's a backlog of cape material?

~Susan~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Joyce, so sorry that Kavin had to go through all that trauma, poor guy. Glad he is finally free of the impact, I bet he felt pretty uncomfortable for awhile?

Bon, you are so luck at finding all the goodies! Way to go! Hope your not working too hard? How are your headaches doing? Better I hope.
Jaye where are you at? Hope you all are doing OK?
Susan, you need to stay home, and get to feeling better! Just so much crud going around.
Take care.

My health issue was not with myself but with my computer. LOL Yesterday I decided to untangle the cords to my computer, for what good that did me because the are all tangled up again. I'm beginning to wish I didn't buy an armoir to put it in, what a job. Well, whatever I did wasn't such a good thing because I couldn't get on the Internet. Strange signs popping up about my security not being valid, well it is for another 39 days. If anyone can messed up a computer it is me, no help since no one else around wants to learn anything. I was about ready to take it outside and find a sledge hammer. This stuff can be frustrating. Well, I'm back on Dave's, tangled cords and all, but can't access my mail. At least I can get on my favorite web site.

Sorry to hear about the terrible ordeal that poor baby had to go through. Susan, is your cough coming my way? I've been hacking for such a long time and it sure can tire you out. Have a doctor appointment on the 17th and by that time I'll be feeling really good, always happens with me.

Well, back to computer problems.

Pegi

Evening everyone.

Managed to have an hour at church today, and all your 'petitions' are brought up except for Lisa's. Will do so Wednesday night.

Lisa, so sorry to hear of your grandma. Hope she's not in too much pain.

Cindy, your DD's MIL is in a much better place and please extend my condolences to your DD and your SIL.
Knowing you, you'll be making sure your DD's comforted.

Barb, thank you for the tip. Remembering never to put anything magnetic next to the sewing machine.

LK, the machine you chose is quite popular. That's the one used by one Project Runway season. It got some bells and whistles, I see. You'll have fun with it.
Nutella ... that's my doom if I were to indulge in it again!

Maid M., hope Kim is faring well. At least the painkillers will make it bearable for school.
You are right, I could even donate kiddy quilts to my local hospital or even the church. No one will turn down a new 'friend'.

Oh Cookie, to read of Kavin, who is only 2 years old.. and his ordeal.... I could feel his pain. Thank God for very conscientous medical pros, following up with an x-ray to make sure it's done right. A big AMEN Kavin's fine now.

Pegi, I'm sorry...... but I'm getting a visual of you all tangled up in cords and pc cables!! Had an armoir to house the pc, until one day, Kel's patience went South trying to access the panels and cables!!
Admire your perseverance and that sledge hammer must be breathing a sigh of relief ;)

Sistah Susan, think it's an unwritten fact that ORIGINAL OTC med. brands are always more effectively potent than the generic stuffs. That's why they cost more. (Unless it's Rxtive stuffs...now why is that?)
Aha!!! Enjoying yourself too much that you forgot you're sick!! Drink plenty of liquids please..

Bonnie, one day we'll be reading of your hybridizing achievements and wouldn't it be the ultimate dream come true if one of your babies will be fetching $$$?

Crissy... hope you have had a relaxing Sunday.

Jaye - the reason I left the party at 10 is because I was coughing again. My cough had settled down enuff to me to go, but then I overdid it (of course).

tonight I'm not having any luck........ I thought a hot cuppa tea would help, so I put the kettle on (I thought I did, anyway). Well, I came online, and then suddenly noticed thick smoke in the house!! I'd turned on the wrong burner, and melted a spatula! I've shut the cat in the bathroom (with the fan on) and opened every door & window I could. This sure isn't helping my cough any........
well, the tea kettle is boiling, so I'm going to make tea...........

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

btw - the fan was on in the bathroom when I put the cat (Baby) in, so she was getting aerated.
Guess I was "heating the neighbourhood" for a bit........
The house is all-clear now..... just one garbage spatula to show for it...........

Poor sistah Susan.. you've been sending us comforting words and angels... so here are your (((((((((((((SUSAN))))))))))
(((((((((SUSAN)))))))))))))))

If you have some peppermint candy, put it in your tea. Might soothe your cough.

It will be a BETTER day for you tomorrow.

I'll see you all tomorrow.. have a good night sleep everyone.

Raleigh, NC

LOL I fetched home a bale of straw free today. that article above said to use wheatstraw to cover these strawberries, and I saw a freebie of straw today! tomorrow I'm picking up horse manure I hope.

ate a good dinner, even had seconds, so I wouldn't awake hungry in after midnight! DD cooked for us!

well, good night sweet sistahs. can't keep my eyes open.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I have some fresh ginger that I cut up and put in hot tea
awwwwwwww thanks Jaye - you're a real doll! ^_^

~Susan~

Morning Glory!

how are my sistahs this fine, FINE morning? been up since dawn, start of another week! It's going to be clear and in mid 70's. Randall's got the coffee on, and I've got Lemon Lift tea brewing. making banana bread, should be ready in a couple minutes, with fruit yogurt and fresh pineapple.

Susan - add some whiskey to that tea - soothes the throat and then ya don't care^_^ Hope you feel better this morning. I"m going to put this teapot under your nose and let you breath the steam.

can't go for manure after all, so I'm going to exercise class - make sure my bud doesn't drown. Think I'll go rototill something after class and pot some more irises. Except for the 3 gal pots, I'm out of pots!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Thanks for the coffee Bon!
Geesh, looks like everyone is busy.
I was up at 4:30, but not feeling good. I had the worse heartburn from you know where! I finally got it calmed down, about 8, and went back to bed for a bit.
Lots better now.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm feeling much, much better, thank you ^_^
My DH bought a warming electric throw for me, for when I'm sitting in the loveseat.
He also bought an electric mattress blanket.
I had some hot ovaltine (chocolate!) last night before bed, put some vicks on (with a T-shirt), and took some REAL ColdFX (not the knock-off cuz that apparently doesn't work), and I had some Buckley's for my cough. I had the best sleep I'm had for a long time. Even tho the cat did wake me up with her Yowling at 2am!
This am it's more hot tea.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, what is Buckley's?
Glad your feeling better.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh thank you all so much on your good thoughts for Kavin. He is a little ornery thing and he was back to his "old" self on Saturday. He just loves milk and they've had to take that away from him. He's really not happy about it, but I guess it played a big part in the impaction.

Today is Kathy's surgery. She was really anxious for it as the pain has gotten so much worse. They will keep her overnight, but will have her up walking this evening. Amazing that a surgery that used to keep you in bed for a couple weeks now has you up walking the same day! I told her to call me or have Michael call me when she's out of surgery. When I hear anything, I'll let you know.

It was such a beautiful day yesterday. Bertie and I ran an errand and stopped at a couple fun places. I splurged and got a loaf of Asiago cheese bread at Dorothy Lane Market. I've tried two different recipes, but neither of them came close to how much a love this bread. It's $5.99 a loaf, so I'll savor every bite!

I went to Jordyn's cheer competition yesterday and about a third of the way into their performance one of the girls fell and hurt herself really bad. They stopped the routine and sent the girls off. They finally got the girl off the floor. Looked like she might have broken her leg. She came down hard after a jump. Well, they let them come back at the end to finish the routine without her and they place 3rd. This was a regional event, so 3rd's not too bad considering. They qualified for Nationals. A boy was there and brought Jordy a red rose. I whispered to her, do I get to meet this guy? and she was quick to tell me that he WAS NOT her boyfriend. Guess they were an item for 12 days and Jordyn called it off. Evidently, he didn't want to give up!

It was so nice yesterday I almost put the top down on my convertible. Today is supposed to be nice, too, but the sun isn't shining like it was yesterday. It was 71 at 2:00. Unbelievable for November!

My friend, Sue gave me some tulip bulbs and I will get them in the ground today. I planted the geraniums she gave me on Saturday. That was a beautiful day, too.

Marion, so sorry to hear about Kim's tooth. Hope it's okay now. I really need my teeth cleaned, but I just hate to take $75 for that when there is so much stuff that needs my money more...know what I mean?

Okay, I have wet hair and need to get it dried before it sticks this way! ^_^

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Buckley's cough syrup - the bad tasting one LOL "It tastes horrible, but it works" It doesn't have the sugar that others do..........
Don't tell me that you don't have it in the US?!?!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL! Never heard of it.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning Ladies,
Daughter and family are holding up really well. But I don't think my DGD has realized what has really happened. I think when she goes over to the house and see's that Eileen is no longer there it will sink in. Don't know when services will be but I'm not looking forward to them. It will be graveside only and we are too have rain off and on all week.

Yesterday I went to Apple Hill with Steve and his mom. It was cold!!! But we had a great time. Stopped at a German farm and had Brats, german potatoe salad, and strudel for lunch. Stopped at one farm bought two big boxes of apples, checked out the farm musem , then we were going to have some Apple Dirt Cake but they wanted $5 a slice yikes!!! So we moved on went to another farm that is up for sale (sure would love to buy it) Steve's mom bought some syrup's and 3 pies to bake. If I spend too much time with this family I'll never get down to my ideal weight, lol. Anyhow I will be going down to Steve's mom's to help make pies and applesauce. Next Saturday is the Cowboy Poetry, I was hoping we were going to the matinee because Micheal Martin Murphy is going to be playing, but we are going to the dinner show. I think I might be able to take pictures I'm not sure so I'm taking my camera anyways.

Well, I need to get busy and do something. It's suppose to rain so I will be working on crafts today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning CIndy, glad to hear you had a good time at the farm with Steve, and his Mom! Sounds like you get along with her, if your going over to make pies and applesauce?
LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I forgot to mention....She thinks I'm perfect for Steve ^_^.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Good news for coughs: Rub Vicks Vaporub on the soles of your feet, put on socks and go to bed! Works every time!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Audrey, how is your knee doing? Hope it is all healed now.
What are you up to?

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Oh I forgot about the Vicks Vaporub on soles of feet, will try that tonight. Thanks for reminding me Doe41. I read so many great hints, but never can remember any of them. I print a lot out too, but when I need them CRS.
