Sweet Interruptions 171

Raleigh, NC

You'd think with a degree in psych I'd know this stuff. but I concentrated on cognition, not abnormal stuff. Did a lot of research back when all this happened. Have ever since believed it's in ex's family. And their grandmother, who goes ballistic if anyone implies mental illness, knew. Both she and their uncle have attempted suicide. Ex said she'd been in a sanitarium for a long time at one point. All I've researched indicates their great grandma Lucy had a raging case of it. It's heriditary.

Then again, there's also a case to be made, like my kid's social worker says," you can't live with a crazy person without going a little crazy yourself." No matter what, we're going to be seeing more and more depressed people the longer this economy stays like this. This is when I need to reach out for His strength the most.

Good day sistahs!
Got a few hours off, while Kel's parents are having company.

Yay Judy... good to read you found some work, though it be temporary. Knowing you, that's a start towards "Cookie" fund!
Isn't it amazing how Skittles with a teeny weeny brain has the emotions of a child? My furbabies go crazy the minute we get home after too long hours away from them.
I do hope you get that landscaping job back, and if you don't maybe you could post small ads.
The housework will always be there when you get back. Have fun at the camp!

Thanks for stepping in Bonnie. Need to get some 'culture' back into my digestive system. It's been a long while since I had yoghurt. Nothing tastes as good as homegrown fruits. Never tried growing strawberries as there's a strawberry farm not too far from us. And Bonnie, thanks for the tip on asparagus. I reallllllllllllllllllllly want an asparagus bed.
Puhleezzz persuade James to remove all the firearms from Bevin!

Ahhhhh.... I was gonna vote for you LK, if you had entered that picture. I didn't enter anything this year, just don't have the time to go through my pics.
How are your brugs doing? We had an unexpected frost last night, and I hate to cut them down as there are still buds and next two weeks are supposed to be warm:(

There you are Maid M! I am so sorry to read you're still having problems with your wrist. Do you think a surgery will correct it?
Never heard of the 10 Tenors, but will check them out on CDUniverse.
Are you still having your mum and sister over for Thanksgiving?

Crissy, I'll stick with I.E. for now. We know Kel's mother is bipolar, but she refused to seek help. This affect the whole family :(

And Bonnie is right.... " you can't live with a crazy person without going a little crazy yourself."

Sistahs, I must say this.. I am not depress all the time.. just situations with my MIL (who I leave to the Lord) and lately, it's because I have to cancel the trip to France and Singapore. Just having my sisters emailing pics and plastering them all over FB of the good times they're having just make me 'sniff' more :D
So, when Zi is back in France everything should be back to normal right?
Nope.. there's still PIL....
okay... just talk myself into asking the doctor for some chemical help...

Hey Susan.... I never label the totes... Does Bob need anything from here?

Have a fantastic day everyone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Jaye, glad to hear you have a short break.
My brugs are doing very well, no sign of frost here yet, but probably soon enough. My giant white one, and the yellow one are about to bloom again. I noticed little buds on them last week, so maybe in a week or so?
Please take care.
LK

Shoot, my ex-boyfriend knew he was and his mom was also and explained it all to me, she knew the problem and spoke openly about it, unless she didn't take her meds, then look out! She went 2 hours without meds and was already in the hallway trying to beat herself up and get her gun, which had been removed by her husband.

Dang!! I'm tired....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Jaye, now why did you go and post that link? LOL! Like we have nothing else to do? Looks like I need to start saving my scraps?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

---and we shall 'suffer' together LK :P Heheheee!!!!
You got to admit now, that her projects are all doable.

Looks like we're getting an evening break. MIL's SIL decides to stay much later and ordering dinner in.

"Carpe Diem" sez moi.. so me and Kel will definitely be dining out tonight!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, perfect excuse to get one of those Moda jelly rolls too!

Hey Crissy.. you're pretty crafty... would be nice if you take up quilting.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Drove to Seattle in the sun surrounded by Washington, Oregon and California Police cars...
Today is the Memorial Service for the Seattle Police Officer who was shot last week. There are law enforcement from all over the country here today.

Had a nice sunny drive home from the air port.....ten minutes after we got home it started to Thunder and we had lightening and sleet....about a half inch in five minutes. Quite a sight!

Too many unnecessary deaths. That must be a very solemn procession, Trisha.

We practically have to watch over our shoulders nowadays.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you got home, before the bad weather started.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yep.. glad you got home safe, Trisha.

Hey Ladies, I need some advice here.

Dave has invited me to his house for dinner ^_^ . Should I take something in the way of a gift?? You know some guys bring flowers or wine, are women surppost to take something? I was thing maybe a candle but I don't know if he likes candles.

Raleigh, NC

just got back inside. don't have the energy to finish the strawberry plants, covered them with a warm blanket tripled over. but got the compost rototilled in, then another 1/2 new row tilled, but started hitting major pine tree roots and quit, almost out of gas by then.

oh yucky poo! look at that sleet! we used to get that a lot when I was a kid in NC.

you know, one of the things I discovered with my research was that a certain level of depression when times are stressed, rough, bad or sad, or with grief, is normal. our body and mind under stress need more downtime. There's so much emphasis on "positive attitude" in our society that we forget the body knows what it needs to heal. When we are depressed, we naturally sleep more=restoration.

Judy got some work!?? YEAH! Most excellent! Did y'all know that over 50% of all private companies use temps now to find the folks they want to hire on permanently for entry and mid level jobs? They literally use it as a "trial by fire" to find out who works the hardest.

Raleigh, NC

wine works, Cindy! or a six pack, if that works better for the planned menu!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My grandmother used to quilt big time, and I used to help her hand stitch it all together, along with about 30 church ladies all on one side of a huge quilting frame. Don't have a sewing machine and no real place to put one in my house, and not really interested yet. If Dave would stay stationed to one bedroom instead of using two of the three it would help, but he won't so you know...

Oh yes, sleet, not looking forward to that, get it bad here in Arkansas. How fast the weather can change, just one little cloud turns into this huge monstrous thing!

Well it's Friday at 4:30 and I'm just looking forward to going home and re-installing a bunch of software and drivers onto my computer. A lot of the stuff that was on it that I never used I'm going to leave off, if I haven't used it since July of 2007 chances are I'm not going to be using it now. Quite the exciting evening. Gonna try to wait for Dave to get home but I'm so tired from just sitting here I may not.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, does he live with his Mom, I don't remember if this one was taking care fo her or not, if so, maybe you can bring something for her? But I agree, a nice bottle of wine, or beer will work.
Have fun.
LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Noooooo he does not live with his mom, lol. But his 15 year old lives with him and hopefully is away for the night at his mothers.

This is Dave that lives in my hometown the one that took me to Applebee's awhile back. I'm giving him a second chance, lol.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I went to the quilting website and drooled Jaye. She does great work. I like the Streak of Sunshine pattern as I do a lot of quilts for the Cancer Center for Children. Theat would be a great way to use up scraps... Thank you for sharing.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

What an emotional afternoon!!! I have been glued to the TV since my last post. They had a lead on a suspect and a car in the shooting of the police officer.... they had been watching his apartment all day today... as soon as the memorial service was over on TV the guy came out of his apartment... the police approached him and he ran, pulled a gun and tried to shoot at the police... he was shot and is at Harborview Medical Center..... for the Family, Law Enforcement and the City of Seattle we all hope and pray that this suspect IS the guy they are looking for. He is also suspected of bombing some Police cars at the Police Garage a few weeks ago...... It is just so incredible.....

Hope everyone has a good night.....need to go figure out what we are eating tonight.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Lord!! Shootings and bombings in Seattle, Ft. Hood shooting, Orlando shooting, my goodness stop the madness!!

I'm waiting for 20/20 to come on, Rianna's going to be on talking about Chris Brown and all. Not normal office drama is what I'm looking for!

Got my printer installed, now to do the camera! I wish I knew where in the world I put the driver, oh well. Kodak.com here I come!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, with sistahs like you how in the world am I to stay out of trouble? LOL Oh well, won't even try--great site and thanks (I think) for posting.

Took Kim in to have her tooth fixed--actually temp--dentist has been her dentist since she was 6 so he came in on his day off to help her out. The crown cracked and she was in some pain by the time I got her there. He gave her some pain meds to start so when the feeling come back it won't be so bad. Quick trip to son's so he could cut me some more shelves for my new cabinets I put in last weekend. Of course, some play time with the girls--I am bushed now so it is off to bed!!

Trisha, I hope they got the right person also. How sad things are now--so many shootings, deaths, etc.

Stay well my friends and will chat tomorrow the Lord willing.

Morning Glories!

It's Saturday! That's waffle day here. I'm about to put the coffee on - still have plenty of French vanilla creamer to go with. This morning it's Constant Comet tea. you have a choice between maple syrup or hot cinnamon applesauce for topping your Belgian waffle. we don't diet on Saturdays, because we're going to work so hard.

and now to sit back and catch up on all y'all posted yesterday! enjoy the coffee and tea - waffles will be ready in about 15 minutes.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning,
waffles... yummy! Got some sugar free maple syrup here. "Constant Comet" tea?? Will we be visiting the milky way after drinking, Bonnie?

Barb, I think the host of that site also donate quilts to a cancer center. How fantabulous of you to sacrifice your time for a good cause.
Maid M. had proposed last year that we do the same and somehow we can't seem to follow up :( Bad excuse.. with that simple pattern you pointed out, or even a simple 9 patch, we should be able to make someone happy.

You are so welcome Maid M :D! I have some Moda jelly rolls purchased on eBay at 1/3 less than the regular prices (of course not the latest line). Time for me to use them!
By the way, that magnetic thingy you had sent... that's a time saver each time one of the fur babies knocked down the pin box.
Kim, hope the painkillers help.
At least you won't have to turn to clove oil toothache. That was the only thing we had when I was a kid and the after taste's nasty.. yep, it makes you forget the pain.

Wishing Max the best, and hoping they'd rehire him. Wouldn't that be just ideal, Donna? How are the kids? Have they started on their Christmas list, yet?

LK, have you decided on what machine to get?
We cut down 2 brugs late last night, and covered the rest. Just hate to let go of the ones still budding.

How was the party Susan?

Hope you had a great time with Dave, Cindy.
Now I don't understand why they call women who date younger men "cougars"?

Waving to Trisha, Pegi..................yooohooo.... Crissy, are you through with reinstallations of softwares?

Time for me to get moving.... hope you all have a fantastic day!

Cya'll later!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning! I'm up before 10am! Woo Hoo Gonna be a good day!

The only drivers I had to install were the printer and camera, the rest is games from gamehouse.com. LOL The ones that were free are gone, never to return to me free again. Oh well, I have them all written down and will deal with it later. The yard is a mess, Dave is cranky because work is stressing him out to the max, and I'm fixing to get motivated... lol

Cindy hope your date went well! Can't wait to 'hear' all about it!

Waffles, yum!! Lost my waffle maker when we moved across the country. Oh well, we're dieting big time anyway, well at least I say I am... I cannot shake 170lbs!

Have a great day everyone!! Will catch up more later, or attempt to anyway! LOL

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning Ladies,

AWWWW what a sweetie Dave is ^_^. When I got there he hugged me so tight I thought he was going to crack my ribs, then he let out the biggest sigh. He had dinner cooking when I got there, and we were so involved in conversation (but I think he had others things on his mind) that he burnt dinner, lol. But he was able to salvage it and it was good. After dinner we watched truck races and talked some more, and he just kept looking at me and grinning( he has the cutest dimples). Then he moved in closer and kissed me, (sigh). I had not been kissed like that in ages. When I saw his pictures on the dating site, he was quite puggy, he works out and runs everyday and lost 60 pounds. His body is very well toned ^_^. I was home and in bed by 11:00. Today he is working he said something about playing in the mud. I'm sure we will be seeing each other again. He sent me an email this morning saying he had a lovely evening, lol.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Bon thanks for the delicious breakfast. Sunday is pancake day here with what is left of our Canadian Maple syrup--guess I need to go visit my niece again!!! I will have coffee please--need the lead!

Jaye, after I had checked in donating the quilts discussed above, it appeared it was being done on a rather large scale (Linus Project) but have since learned there are other places where they can be donated. Small local communities have a need for them and yes, I have sent a few--not many--but haven't posted.

Kim is better but very sore and having difficulty eating--to be understood. The pain in manageable today--thank goodness.

Off to run a few errands--The "independently operational omnidirectional listen apparati" creatures are demanding food.

Raleigh, NC

sending prayers for comfort for Kim, and crossing my fingers for Max!

think I'm glad I haven't been watching any news of late.

Give 'em all a try, Cindy!

Story on my waffle making: I had an old Sunbeam waffle iron in WA, lost in divorce, of course. Randall came by early and heard the kids say one Sunday, "wish you'd make waffles again Mom." I said, "sorry kids, someday we'll get a waffle iron again." Randall pipes up, "you know how to make waffles?????" He adored Belgian waffles whenever he went to Vegas. I said, "of course, but not Belgian, just regular waffles." Two days later, he arrived with a gift wrapped box - a waffle iron! Said he loves waffles so I just had to marry him. Back then (can't resist - it was my waffling period) I said, "no, but I'll make you waffles!" We wore out that waffle iron and replaced it....with a Belgian waffle maker. LOL

have already potted 7 more irises and 10 strawberry plants. got to get back outside - lunch break's over.

Brought this inside last night in case it frosted - Again And Again. It's perfuming the whole kitchen this morning!

Back in 86, I spent 6 months in Belgium, and they sell the belgium waffles on the street corners, like toey sell hot dogs in new york. But the sell them with nutella chocolate paste on them, and oh my they were so good!

smalltown, IL

Please keep my grandma in ur prayers..Not sure how much longer she has..
Kidneys are failing..
Thanks

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Jaye please be careful with a magnet near your sewing machine. Most of them now are computerized in some way and you can really screw one up if the magnet is too close. I keep a magnet for picking up pins too but I keep it well away from my machine. (At least three feet). Just a thought for you....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the tip. I did not kow that. I just bought Brother from WalMart, so I can get these sewing swaps finished. It is computerized.

Whose watching the Breeder's Cup? Wonder if Mine That Bird is going to win? That is the one Flamingo Kim bet on last year and it came in 20 - 1.

Raleigh, NC

didn't know Breeders Cup was on.

sending prayers for ChinookCottage's nana.

Susan! you sick and still partying down, heh? LOL great prize that was !

Just editted my post above - got the wrong name on that iris. after talking about it in the iris forum, decided the one in the next row had spread over into the row beside it! Compared photos in the plant files and figured it out.

got 40 more irises potted up and 30 strawberry plants. Randall pulled the rest of the compost out of the truck for me, so I'm ready to fetch a load of manure on Monday.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Doing yard work all day, going to take a picture in the am to show you what the yard looked like, what a mess!!

Raleigh, NC

oh, crissy - your yard can't be worse than mine! I've turned it into a junk pile with all the stuff from craigslist!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan I'm so glad you had a good time!

Chinook prayers being sent here too hun.

Wow Bon, you keep amazing me, all I did was rake some and ride the mower picking up leaves all day, and still am not done!
