LK - can't you just copy everything to a CD, and bring it over to the new HD?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I wish I new how? Like my email address book. All my programs are gone, my anti virus...
I just need to go to the sites, and ask for the authorization codes, and re down load them!

Ladies, hope you all are feeling better today. Sleep tight!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK - did you get your anti-virus from a paid website, your service provider, or a disc? If one of the 1st two, it's easy to get it back. If paid website, you'll have an email..... o shoot, no you won't cuz you lost your email........
Well, if a service provider, they can "push" the program to your system, or send you to a website to get it again.
If a CD, then you just reload it from CD.

When you get your address all entered again, I'll help you export it so you have it for the future. You just have to tell me what kind of email program you have and I can help.

I used to be a techie (now I'm a glorified secretary lol) but I still love computers, and the physicians are always asking me to take care of the tech stuff, cuz they either don't know how to ask IT something, or they figure I'll get faster results....... and they're usually right. lol

~Susan~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Susan, I got my anti virus from pctool.com, and my email is "windows mail"
Can you recover a crashed hard drive? LOL!
Good night all. Gonna take some nyquil. All stuffed up today!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL THAT, I can't do, LK
I know there are those who can, tho. They charge huge bucks for it, however lol

If I knew how, I'd let you in on the secret ^_^

Take care of that cold, miss LK!!

~Susan~

Morning Glories!

Randall's got the coffee on, and I've got an oven pancake ready for everyone, with warm fresh fig preserves, and the juiciest navel oranges y'all ever did see. Diet for me - yogurt and an apple, and. ginger tea.

it's official. I've got a headcold, sinuses feel impacted, but I'm going to go out in a bit and mix up a bunch of potting mix for irises anyway, then go to water aerobics. Have talked my friend who has my remote garden into joining the YMCA over here near his folks. so now that I have an exercise buddy, I can't not go. My weight is up really high this morning - think I ate the whole can of soup and didn't move much yesterday. He's gained so much he's having trouble keeping his balance - he confided Tuesday that he's over 400 lbs.

Then at lunch Randall wants to go make the car payment and a payment on my Visa and hit Subway for lunch. what a guy! darn how I wish he'd come to class with me. His weight is up, too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Everyone!
Bon, thanks again for breakfast. Sounds really good. Hope you have a good work out, but don't over do it, with your cold.
Well, I got my anti virus, and my registry mechanic downloaded. That was pretty easy, so today, I will work on getting my email address back on the laptop.
Hope everyone has a great day. Don't work too hard.
Jaye, how are all of you guys doing? Any word on Murdock?
Susan, how is your cold doing? Better I hope?
Thoughts and prayers to all.

Bon thanks for the advice! That's awesome!

Take care of those colds and aches and pains gals! I go back to the chiropractor today at 10:30am.

Sorry I wasn't on yesterday, working and voting in the photo contest, thought I'd get on last night but NOPE computer at home wouldn't connect to the internet. So I did all of my techie checking and ended up calling Hughesnet, on the phone with them for just over an hour, not their problem, need to call Dell. Got a gal at Dell and after paying $49.95 + tax because my computer is 1 1/2 years over the warranty (can't believe I've had the computer that long already) she discovered that my computer downloaded updates from Microsoft that had corrupt internet files, just like Cindy and LK were saying, so they're going to call me today at 6:30pm so we can re-install my internet software. The rest of the computer is fine. I started moving all of my files and folders to my thumb drive and like a nerd and being too tired, by this time it was 9:30pm and had been working on computers all day, I was tired and thought I was copying all of the folders in my Start Menu to the thumb drive, but it turns out I was moving them so went to move them back to the computer and they won't move! LOL I'm sure they can tell me how to get those back on the computer too but may have to pay again Oops!! Those are the Accessories, Dell, Microsoft Office, etc. folders.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oooooooooh Crissy! you nerdy techie, you!! lol sounds like something I might do LOL

My cold is in "fits and starts"....... one minute I'm fine, and the next, it's kicking me in the chest......

ah well, back to work.....

~Susan~

Hello ladies!
Thanks Bonnie. I love fig preserves. Will take extra insulin for just to have a spread on sliced french bread.

Good news everyone. My tests' results shown that I don't need the pump for now.. Still able to stick to regular insulin shots, just got to watch the cholesterol. Also got my "oink-oin" shot, since I'm considered high risk.
At the doctor's office, I read too that kids under 9 need 2 doses of that shots, cause their immune system is still below par. This is serious.. the H1N1 viral strain.

So sorry LK , you have to go through the inconvenience of re-building your softwares in your pc.
It had cost us $70 to 'revive' ours, and we're lucky there is a very brilliant computer geek in this town that charges cheaper than the rest.
Those persistent MS updates, that would download themselves even though you disable the function.
My photoshop and media softwares were corrupted besides access to the internet...

Wise of you to back up essential data on to your thumb drive Crissy. Kel is yet to do so.

Hiya Susan! Are you through with your project/s? You won't believe how I need those feathers :D You'd soon see why, as soon as I can find a box!
Having a bad cold can make you feel as though you've just lost some rounds in the boxing ring! Take care sistah!

Donna, I don't know anything about asparagus. Wish I do. Would love to have a bed and able to harvest fresh asparagus.

Maid M, has Kim's car been repaired? At least you still got your auto for you two to get around.
Still waiting on pics of your grand bebes' halloween outfits.

How's the weather there Pegi and Cindy? It's getting a tad warm.. high 70's... confusing the plants again :(

Waving to Cookie.. Juanita... and Judy ....

Sorry if I don't show up as often as I'd like to. No internet access at PILs and I'm lucky that I can at least drag my sewing machine there!
If not, I'll go crazy!!!

You all have a fantastic day!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

HI Ladies,

I've been busy outside building cement wall for drainage ditch. 65 today and is surppose to start raining this evening and Friday. Will be nice Sunday we are going back to Apple Hill this time taking Steve's mom and her boyfriend.

I'm so excited about tomorrow night my date with Dave, and he is too he says "It's taking forever for Friday to get here, lol. I don't what we are doing yet, left that up to him ^_^.

Well need to get back outside and do some more work before it starts raining

Have A Good Day!!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

How is your PIL, Jaye? I hope he's resting, and that Kel's not too worried......
I know this must be a stressful time for all of you.

Take care, Jaye.

The feathers were just a fun thing I threw in lol Glad you could use 'em.

s'funny - at church, in the Sunday School area, there are a bunch of drawers the teacher (Wendy) & I are straightening out. When we were labeling, we discovered we had "Felt, Fabric and (oh shoot - forgot the 3rd F - it wasn't fur...)" so we decided to throw in some Feathers as well, so we could have a "Four F" drawer LOL We were laughing so hard - no, we didn't get into the paste LOL We just naturally like to laugh, Wendy & I.
We found some room we didn't think we possibly could have! Amazing what's kept for years, eh?

Susan it was hilarious when I got the guy from Hughesnet on the phone, he was talking all slow and I was waiting for him to tell me my next step, then I started talking about OS and IP and VOiP, DOS Based, he said, "You have some computer experience..." LOL told him I was the 'help desk' for the Hot Check dept for the State of AR and have a BA in IT. He quit talking so darn slow. I usually don't say anything but he was going incredibly slow walking me through this stuff. Driving me nuts!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye I'm glad you don't have to have a pump. I hope PIL is better.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

The weather has been really nice here, lots of sunshine, a little breeze and good working outdoor weather. Went out to check on my brug, the bloom is taking forever to open fully. No rain in sight for us yet.

I pray my computer doesn't crash or the hard drive gets fried because I would be in deep trouble. Don't know why someone in my family (close by) isn't a tech. My nephew in New York is very computer wise, but a little far to go. I have no idea how to transfer info from one computer to another, and I really don't want to have to learn. I have enough trouble with learning the small things.

I just learned from an article on DG on pine needles that I can use them for mulch. So now I can gather them for my own use instead of putting them in the green waste barrel. Would make a nice path around my raised bed, but hope the dogs don't drag them in. Have that problem now, mulching the carpet.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

How about putting things on a thumb drive. I'd take it somewhere and have them back it up for you, or get an external back up drive for it.

LOL Mulching the carpet!

I need help with sending a dmail blast, can't remember for the life of me how to do one!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just foud out my hard drive is not recoverable. I lost some pictures, but not the end of the world! So I will be sending my pictures to my external hard drive more often!
Hey Jaye, how ya doing. Glad to hear you don't need the insulin pump. That is great news.
Cindy, hope you go some place nice for dinner. Enjoy your date.

Oh my, I just turned on fox news, and there has been 3 people that got on fort hood, and have killed at least 7 troops, and at least 30 m ore injured. One of the shooters has been catured, but the other two are still on the loose. Please pray for these troops. They work so hard to protect out country.

LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Great news Jaye!
Bon, get better soon.

May not be on much for awhile speaking of Computer issues.....can get no pictures on my screen.....hope my brother can help tomorrow.....DH let me borrow his web book, but he is headed back to work soon.

Prayers going out to all of the families of those at Fort Hood, such a tragic situation....hope they catch all of the shooters soon.

Rain and wind here today.
Hope all of you have a great evening.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Crissy - I usually have to tell them they don't need to "walk me through each step, I can take them in the Registry, where I love to play" LOL

At work, yesterday, I'd had some trouble using a "loaner" laptop the company uses, with a generic login. It wouldn't allow me to use my memory stick, so I had to take minutes by hand, instead of typing them in..... When I called the HelpDesk about it, I told him I used to be a tech, so he could talk Computer Talk with me. He got all huffy and said "I'm not a tech, I'm an Analyst!" Y'know something.... I don't know his qualifications, and wouldn't presume....... silly man!! I never Said he was a tech...

~Susan~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Crissy - d-blast:
go to My Info (from Home Page), the scroll down to "Manage my friends...."
AS IF you could manage us...... LOL
Then create a group (name it "The best buddies in the WORLD!" and you're set!

~Susan~

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Susan!! I wouldn't even begin to try to manage all of you, I'd end up bald instead of gray!

Sounds like someone I work with... That's exactly what she does, I'll mention something, like the Vicodin thing the other day, never mentioned that she was going to use it, I said, "I need Vicodin!" and she responds, "I don't use drugs!"

Thanks for the instructions!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Mom and I spent the day planting daffodils, Iris' and Belladonna lilies on this hill side. I took the rototiller up there and dug then just threw all the bulbs and where ever they landed they got planted, lol. Now to see what is going to look like come spring.

asparagus is a multi year perennial. it needs to be in the ground about 3 years before the first crop. it grows wild in Washington state, so it's safe for you to leave it in the ground in the winter. mark you off a bed -so you don't disturb it - and feed it. soil needs to drain well, but be frequently wetted.

thanks for the well wishes everyone. After water class this morning, I got in the steam room, and it felt so great on my sinuses I didn't want to get out. Didn't do the rototilling. On Thursdays Randall likes to do errands. Today he also had to buy a couple Cricket phones, at the store over off Capital Blvd. The lady gave him a hard time about buying a pink one, he thought it was cute!

Meanwhile, I went in the Food Lion and found a double sale on hamburger meat and about 12 more specials, too, that were not in our closest store. we saved $30, went home and ate sale deli roast beef instead of fast food, then had burritos tonight out of the hamburger! I usually shop at night or on weekends out of habit. but this is the 4th time I've found incredible meat specials before 3 pm Mon-thru-Thursday. you have to use the meats right away, but great fresh hamburger under $2 a lb? boneless whole pork loin under $1 a lb? wow

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Wow bon, those are awseome sales!

Well I'm back online at home already. Had to reformat the hard drive, which means completely wipe out the whole computer and start over from scratch. So this now has nothing but the Operating System (Windows Vista) and internet. I'll install all of the drivers and software that I need tomorrow. The pictures are going to stay off of it, will go buy some cd's for backing up the computer so I can restore it if I need to. Que Saraaa Saraaaa to that. I haven't used Internet Explorer in ages, forgot what it looks like LOL

Susan I'm going to do that Dblast in a minute! Thank you for the instructions!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

You're welcome, Crissy.
Windows *(&*ORu378r0 Vista)*()8requjuqe!!!!????
Well, no wonder you were having troubles!! It's a problematic version!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, what do you use, if you don't use IE?

Bon, can't you freeze the meat you buy? Great sales by the way.

Good night everyone. Sleep tight.

Sending thoughts and prayers to all!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I use Mozilla Firefox (Firefox.) It runs so much better!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Evening everyone!
Thank you all so much for praying for me and you all know that's a big relief when doctor told me I don't need the pump for now!
AMEN!!

Pegi, some pine needles, depending on the length can be used for weaving baskets too.

Cindy, you must have inherited your mum's energy. She looks as though she's determined to have all those bulbs planted.

Bonnie, our local Food Lion's meat section hardly has sales. There are only 2 grocery stores here, and hence no competition at all.
I love Food Lion's roast chickens.. make fast meals.
And DO take care of yourself PLEASE!!!!!!

Donna.. you and Max must have overworked yourselves!!!

Whaddaya know... Susan and Crissy... 2 pc techies... I'm not too pc savvy.. but what is FireFox and why is it good?

Crissy... I laugh when you posted this:
"I said, "I need Vicodin!" and she responds, "I don't use drugs!"
Reminded me of an absent minded gf who was having problems with a door jamb. She had asked her landlord to take care of it, and when he checked it out, he asked her for some Vaseline. To which she replied (you guess it) "I don't use Vaseline!"
I know.. different context ...just thought it's funny and the poor landlord's face turned beet root red!

LK, I hope you had used the hummingbirds' photo in the competition? That's a brilliant photo and should earn some merits.

Well, I've asked the Lord to steer me away from depression, and He did. Made my days and nights so busy that I don't even have time to enjoy a good cup of tea....
Yep Susan.. one got to be careful of what one wished for.

Trisha, I hope you can get your pc fixed. We're helpless aren't we without this 'magic box'.

Maid M.. I am certain you and Kim have had a memorable time at the opera.

On a sentimental note...
you all know that we have a blind kitty, Possum. Her hearing are her eyes. She trailed me and Kel very diligently. She knows her way to the food and water bowls, and the most amazing thing is, she plays very well with the others. But most of the time, when she's unsure of where her buddies or we are, she'd just sit still, and 'scope' out her ears to 'feel' us out.
Tonight when I saw her did that, I cried telling myself... "so that's how a mother feels with her child's infirmities..."

And still being sentimental... I want to express how much I care for each and everyone of you here. Many of the old names have disappeared, and when they chose to return, they'll still be treated the same, as though they've never left.
This thread is for all, good or bad, whatever the subject matter is, as long as it's DG approved, we are all here for each other.

Best part is.. we're all adults and don't need a room monitor!

Well... got to wake up at 5, so time for bed. Have a wonderful day tomorrow everyone!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

G'night, Jaye and all you dear, sweet, lovely sistahs!!

I, too, need to get some sleep - it's 11:30, and I need my rest.

btw - to those who've been watching........ I've finished the tote LOL
About time, doncha think? After I sealed up the box, I thought of One More Thing, but if I kept it to finish it anymore, it wouldn't get Sent! LOL

Well, it's niters for this gal - cya tomorrow!

~Susan~

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

Jaye, that great news, not needing the pump! Sending you waives back and giant armswraps.

Cindy, what can I say, you continue to amaze me with all the gardening your still doing! Hope you get finished witht the trench.

Marion, hope the opera was wonderful.

Crissy glad you got your PC fixed, yikes, that would have drove me bonkers.

I've been reading and trying to keep up...I've been working!! Very temporarily. LOL, doing a janitorial job for a 5 story building. Makes for a very tired me. So in between, got to keep this house in a good running order., play with my swap creations, and of course keep Skittles company. She misses me during the day. Then my car had to be rebooted and taken for drives in order to reset! What a pain in the rear, Now I am driving on a permit but at least I can go about without the worry of getting a ticket.
The job is done on Monday....Sometimes i wonder what the regular guy does! Geesh some areas look as if he never touches them.So today i am giving it a real "MOM" cleaning so it all good for the weekend, Monday will be just a basic cleaning...But all the tennant I've run into have been very nice. Told my DH, if this guy ever wants to quit, I'd take over LOL, what was i thinking?? Oh, now I remember, play money. But i told him I would want to take over the gardens again, as, well ..I did the landscaping a very long time ago and then they hired a landscaping company, ( Iwas working and couldn't keep it up) So, we shall see what comes of this.

The weather is suppose to be spectacular this weekend, so We are headed for the Cottage, we have to shut everything down. Almost hate to go, 'cuz i still have a ton to do here. But man would hate to miss out on such a beautiful weekend. Also, in hope to see our Eagles and get my nature fix!

So, keeping you all in prayers and good vibes.

Have a splendid weekend Sistahs all.
With love
Judy.

Morning Glory!

Coffee's on. Have Earl Grey tea, too. well, I'm later than normal, but still apparently first this morning. guess I'll take Jaye's place for a while making breakfast while she's not feeling so great.

Let's see, there was Dannon style (fruit on the bottom) yogurt on sale, we've got strawberry cheesecake, blueberries and cream, strawberry, and black cherry jubilee flavors for everyone to chose from - and it's the low calorie kind so we can all watch our hips! and for those that need other things, raisin bran cereal! I know it's cold outside, but this has got to be fast, I've got strawberries to pot up.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Time to rise and shine. Coffee is on.

Jaye I did not enter the humming bird picture, but I probably should have. Maybe next year? Hope you wake up feeling much better today.

I tried fire fox a few months ago, but a lot of the things like games would not load, because adobe flash was not compatable with fire fox. Other than that I had no problems with fire fox, but I just got tired of going back and forth between IE and fire fox.

Ladies, it is Friday! I hope you all have a very blessed week-end!

LK

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL! Looks like we all posted about the same time.

Morning girls!

Raleigh, NC

well, y'all, yesterday did not do the tilling as planned. Randall's errands ran a bit long and I had errands of my own.

I need my sisters to tell me how do I pot up strawberry plants for winter? I'd found on craigslist someone giving away everbearing strawberry plants, dig your own, and I'd made an appt. to dig It was such a cool place, they breed championship German Shepards. didn't get to see the pups, darn! but the adult dog roaming free was incredibly smart, absolutely gorgeous, and well trained.

yesterday a.m. on craigslist I found for free plastic slats (from a 2" blind) for more row markers, and paver guides and drain pipe. gonna build a NICE path through my front gardens, and drain water away from front of house, I'm hoping. this morning I saw cheap paver up for sale, but out of my price range.

Last night on there I found those old fashioned southern huge mophead turquiosy hydrangeas, $3 a pot. been looking for those things for at least 5 years, to replace the ones I lost at the big house. they are one of my favs.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bon, sounds like you hit the jack pot on craigs list, way to go!
Now don't go out today, and over do it. Go slowly. I don't know how to over winter strawberries, sorry.
I did find this article, it says to cover them with straw, or a good mulch.
http://www.cdcg.org/factSheets/strawberries.pdf

Raleigh, NC

we did post together didn't we, Linda Kay? LOL had the exact same problem with firefox.

caught up reading....Jaye, so glad to hear about no pump yet. get to feeling better ok? but you are not alone these days on depression.

yesterday a.m. my daughter Bevin called. She's depressed again and back on medication. she was diagnosed at 19 as "potentially bipolar" (we think that had something to do with ex's problems) and most of the time she's on energy overload. It's encouraging that she recognizes there's no reason for her depression, she's thinking it's her brain chemistry off again, which is what B/P is, kinda like diabetes only in the brain.

Randall just came upstairs to remind me that she's licensed to carry concealed and usually does. he's thinking James should take the guns away until she's better. Since she's moved, I don't know if she has a gym nearby - she likes the endorphines. Thinking maybe we could get her a membership at the Y since she lives nearby.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good morning everyone. Nice and crispy here this morning. and thanks for the coffee. Love Earl Grey tea but gotta have my "lead" in the morning!! LOL

Way to go Susan--my tote will be finished today--slowed by my wrist problem again and find it difficult to sew with it in a brace. Ah such is life of the elderly. NOT!!!! In my mind anyways--body does say differently at times. Mind is the loudest.

Kim and I had a fantastic evening but I must tell you that while there is some operatic songs it is a wide mixture of songs. A very diversified, talented group of young men from "Down Under". It was fun watching people go into the performance and listen to the chatter--Kim and I could tell that most attending thought they were in for a night of opera--in a civic center? A few songs into the concert, everyone started relaxing and enjoyed the show but all opera--it is not. They did medleys of Australian folk songs, a tribute to Queen; Broadway medley; tribute to Elvis (which was absolutely hysterical as well as being very well presented. Let's so it was sooooo wrong but so funny. I could go on and on but if you love music and haven't heard this group--check out a CD of theirs.

Jaye, thrilled you don't need the pump and to hear the depression is passing. Depression is a hard thing to deal with--I know we have it in our family and in some cases as Bon stated it is a chemical imbalance.

Well I need to check my other threads and get back to finishing the touches on my tote bag lest my buddy gets upset with me.

Have a great day everyone and a better weekend if I don't get back online today.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning all!

Mozilla Firefox is a web browser, there are quite a few of them out there. I've never ran into that problem with Firefox, that's weird that I haven't.

Well my computer at home runs a lot faster without anything on it! LOL

I'm not having breakfast, trying to lose weight. Maybe if I would just eat less... lol I've quit snacking during the day altogether and have lost 6 pounds in a week! Probably water retention but that's alright, weight is weight, right? I have a feeling I'm going to get down 4 more pounds and come to a screeching halt.

Bon you found a gold mine!! Craigslist can have some really good deals on it. Yay!!

A gym is a good idea. I dated a guy in my early 20's who was Bipolar without medication, and his condition was bad. Because of my ex-boyfriend I did some very extensive research on it before the internet was around by going to the library. Here's the same information now on the internet! Here's the link: Very interesting to read and learn about.
