Question about men?????

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

what about magnolia's

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Joy I have to smile when I think of your ideal gift of a truck load of manure.

Sometimes when my husband is doing some fast dancing/explaining about what he ate for lunch --- or trying to tell me "No - that's not a new receiver on the stereo shelf --its the same one we have had for years........ or "No, I don't remember you telling me that..." It seems like I am getting a truck load of manure too... So I must get A LOT of presents that I have neglected to say Thank You. Shame on Me!

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

It was funny to see this post. I had just sent a freind an email venting about my husband. Sometimes I feel like a single woman with a man living in my house. I work more hours then him and I still have the job of cleaning the house, picking up after him, laundry, dishes, cooking, shopping for grocery's,paying the bills, making appointments, Working in the yard, ( he just started mowing the grass this year) and he is surprised that I am tired....lol
I think my most aggrivation is when I come home after working a 12 hour shift and find dishes in the sink, and his mess on the counters when I left the kitchen clean before I left. The next is when He see's me doing something that I have been doing all along, ( of course he does not know I have been doing it) and tells me I am doing it wrong. Must not have been so wrong since it has been working.

Thank you
Marie

How can I not add magnolias, you are so right wha. I'm just running out of magnolia room here. Though somehow if one landed on my lap, I would find a place for it.

So what is appreciated is respecting what the other brings to your life. Not expecting perfection, but being patient when things don't go as expected. I more appreciate the day to day respect and thoughtfulness than a gift of any kind on a certain day. Each day I try* to remember how lucky I am to have him in my life and how really, we are all on the "day to day roster" and to appreciate the little things. We never know what the next day will bring. TReasure what you have if you love it.

Great way to put it, magnolia!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I appreciate the beauty of a gem and like to flash sparkles around in the sun. I'm easily entertained.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I like to flash sparkles too - but she always runs away. ^_^

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I flashed DH once on Halloween, he didn't run away.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee. I always flash my wife. Love to do it as she is pulling into the garage.

Charlotte, VT

Victor and debilu that's great. Sounds like the two of you keep your marriages fresh and imaginative. I'm with Magnolia, but I would like a dump truck load of composted manure! I'd love the walkway that viburnum valley has too. Any help in the garden or improving our home inside or out would be very welcome. I was born and raised in Vermont and I'm part Scottish. Need I say more I'm all about practical.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

so helen any in home flashing in your near future?

You all are crazy! Flash me the ole credit card and I'll be happy.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Pay to play!

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Victor---- what if your wife brings a friend home ? Once those garage doors open ---there ain't no turning back! ....front!....... back!..... front!

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh. There's just too much funny on this thread. I about split a gut!!!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

HA! I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to "play" with the spouse. I think I've done a flashing or two when they pull in. Definitely sticking my tongue out.

We never argue (and when we don't agree on something it is WEIRD), so we gotta keep things fun somehow! We like to fake moan and groan about the other person. "C'mon slow poke, I'm hungry", impatient sighs, or something more extreme. Not too extreme, the husband is quite sensitive (much less than he used to be, but he is his mother's son). But luckily he's grown to love my pokes in the arm as a way to say hello :)

As for a truck full of manure, sorry that's not enough. I want it spread for me too!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Rose - that makes it more fun! I like to live dangerously. Love to do it where my wife thinks someone will see me but I know they can't!

Thomaston, CT

It was just what I needed, too! Took my DH to 2 doctors today, & took my 94yr old Mom shopping, & out to lunch----there's an adventure for you! Our anniversary is 12/29--right after my bday & Christmas--we never celebrate---never have any money left---just a mushy card. Bill, since your wife came to an RU, get her what she wants---she didn't complain once about the plant conversations!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that is very true robin - keeping her happy is what is important.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh my Rosie, you did paint a picture!! Got a good laugh on that one, thank you so much!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Meant to say thank you to all of you for your support, I so appreciate it, especially right now. However, today I have one less piece of "stress clothing" on!. ^_^
I met my son's Neurosurgeon today and have a date for the surgery. This guy has been doing this specific operation for over 15 years and he's mastered it down to 25 minutes in the O.R.. I can't tell you how much better I feel after meeting him and knowing that he'll only have Justin "under" for less than an hour in all. Putting Justin under is always risky and the longer the more I worry. He once went into the O.R. for a 6 hour surgery but stayed in 9. I was in a tizzy, they almost had to sedate me!! LOL
He did of course advise me of all the things that can go wrong and there fore cannot hold him to the 25 minute quote. ^_^ He has a sense of humor and has even operated on Justin's, doctor's DD, so that made me feel better too.
Oh, all of a sudden after this trip to this doctor.......my phone rings, his reg. doctors office FOUND a H1N1 shot for him, he gets it monday.!!!!

oh good Celeste

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great! I called my pediatrician today. To get the shot for the kids you have to take them out of school and bring them. How dumb is that?

There is a shortage and yet certain groups not in the at-risk category are getting it, or were going to get it until public outcry changed it. Sickening.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

We went from our employer requiring it to denying some staff who wanted it.
I drove by a sign today saying flu clinic cancelled.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

it is crazy - my wife wants to bring one home for me from thier small supply. not going to do it though.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And I just heard that distributors are jacking up the price - 5 to 10X what it was weeks ago!

Thomaston, CT

My DH is high risk for both flu illnesses---no vaccine for him yet. You're lucky to get one for DS, Pixie, especially with surgery.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

That's terrible!(about the prices)
Celebrating # 22 on the 14th. DD was born then too, she'll be 18. She gets the presents, DH buys me carnations. Often one for each year. He's the romantic one!

Funny, our 15th was last week and our DD birthday, her 12th. She gets the presents and the party, and we celebrate the anniversary at a later date. They used to tease us that all of our anniversaries from there on out (after her birth) would be spent at McDonalds. Lucky for us she doesn't like McDonalds. Lol.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Congrats to both of you!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks victor.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Good news, Celeste.

Congrats you 2.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Great news Celeste! The grace of god is working.

I'm not surprised about the price jack. Par for the course these days.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The entire vaccine program has been screwed up. And they had a much longer heads-up than for any other flu. They took steps to 'speed up' the process only days ago. Those steps could have been done months ago.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

And as for a shortage of N95 masks, well....that's another thing that annoys me even more as a nurse. That's the A #1 way to stop transmission and since we can't make anything in this country anymore, we have to rely on plants thousands of miles away to produce what we need. And they aren't doing it.

In both cases, we have had months to prepare! It is beyond disappointing.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Best if the people who have the flu to wear them, right magnolia? Because one can still catch it on the hands and touch the mouth or eyes?

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

You should see what I have to wear to see any one who sneezes these days (space suit anyone?)The other problem is that if you actually put an N95 mask on someone that sick for any length of time, they would indeed pass out. Most of the people I work with, feeling healthy, wearing those masks last about 10 or 15 minutes before feeling faint. My theory is that it raises the mask-wearers CO2. Now, those nice little isolation masks we used to wear, those can be worn for hours.

I should have never gotten started on this....it really has changed a lot about my job and I am not at all happy about it.

The best thing for the average person to do is to never place their hands near their face and to use antibacterial foam or wash your hands really, really well when you have contact with the outside world. ;) We have the foam in the glove box of the car and we use it every time we get in the car.

Celeste...I wish you the best on your son's surgery!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Mags! Thanks everyone else too for the good wishes.
Jada I know your right!!
