Thought I'd move us over this morning ...we've been posting on 2 different threads and I don't want any of us to miss the posts that Shirley has been taking the time to update us on 'tubby' our dear tuddy who each morning said hi by posting a joke..we've been missing him here...
SHIRLEY wrote:
Dear Friends:
It is 2:43 in AM and can't sleep. They have a sitter with Tubby this evening so I could go get sleep. The youngest daughter and I sat in the car till 1:30. She went home and I sat there and decided not to pay for a room for a few hours, as I'm waiting for the oldest daughter & 2 Gdaughters to arrive from Wisconsin. They were about 70 miles out when I spoke to them last.
The latest is that Tubby has multiple strokes in the last two weeks and they plan on doing some biopsy's on the lesions in the head and possible one on the lungs. The Dr's can't emphasis just how sick he is and is a far cry from being out of the woods.
Okay he told and good one today. He asked me what we should name this rabbit, I said what rabbit, that one there(as he points in the air). I said a dead one, he said no, Bettypauz and giggled and giggled. He has been more alert today and able to talk and follow commands. The girls and I as well as the nursing staff have had more laughs today. He told me he wanted to go have a cig. as he acted like he had one in his fingers and took a puff. I told him he couldn't - asked why not so said he was in the hospital and so he asked the nurse, she said no. So he sang them a little diddy about " I smoking a cigarette & so & so." They were all busting up. They all keep coming and checking on him. He has received excellent care. The Dr.'s have all been so kind and wonderful. He did amaze them on how much better he looks today, but they say don't let that fool you. Still talks about planting. He does recognize people some times and not so good the next. He told the middle daughter today as she was leaning over him talking " with a face like that you could grow onions". LOL I just needed to chat and keep my hands and mind occupied. Will check in with you all again soon.
Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers as they are greatly appreciated and needed. Ours goes out to all of you, have a wonderful weekend.
Tubby & Shirley
Shirley spent hours/hours with DH during his illness..know how you must be overwhelmed seeing Tubby so ill...I pray for you to have strength while Tubby is on the road to recovery...sleep is important, do try to get even a few hours here and there and thank you so kindly for taking to time to update us...
Hugs for 'tubby'
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? #124
Forgot to add:
Shirley you tell 'tubby' to get himself healthy because as soon as he's home, somehow I'll get a rabbit to him..
Was so touched, actually crying that he saw a 'bettypauze' rabbit..'hope it didn't scare him' lol

omg after i left i guess there is normal swelling on the brain from surgery, lol
have to giggle,(not nice) but any how my sister said she turned big time mean.
hit my sister several times told my mom and sis to shut up stop being bossy
kept yelling at them, and trying to get out of bed then looked at them and felt her head and said i have no hair?
but by that time mom told the nurse to give her something so she dozzed off. so i wonder if i will be the victim today got to love yiyia(granny) she's back lol
betty i have to laugh look at the wood shop going full force
your going to be a busy bee all weekend.
Shirley, you've both been in my thoughts all morning..got a card out for "Tubby" did about 5 stores trying to find a rabbit - no go, must be an Easter time thing..will continue to look (no not a live one, not yet)! Then went to the Martyrs Shrine hoping there would be a priest so I could get a mass said, gates are locked..guess they close our Thanksgiving..so no luck at all..perhaps another church I can get it, will try tomorrow, Church time....
Got all my goodies including the white boa for the chicken wings so now it's off I go and see what I can get done before bed time ..
Will continue to check from time to time incase you've news...
Prayers and soft hugs to you both...
Liz, your grandmother must be a card, now I know where you get it from..lol
Shirley - Gentle warm hugs to you and Tubby...
Betty - sure hope you find that rabbit - imagine him seeing a Bettypauze rabbit, indeed....... bless you for being such a caring individual.
I say prayers all the time for Tubby & you, Shirley.
Take care, and God Bless,
Susan
Shirley, I hope you know how much it means to all of us that you take a few moments during such trying times to keep us updated on Tubby. You are both in my thoughts and prayers each day...Yes, the rabbit did make me laugh...I remember one of my visits with my dad during one of his hospital stays...he wanted me to grab the rope and move that wagon....LOL....I tried, but it was a bit difficult as I could not see the rope, or the wagon!!!
Shirley hun I bet you are so stressed! I am praying and praying so hard for Tubby to get well, I'm here checking and got a card out too, but it's not a rabbit LOL
I haven't talked to my mom yet today.
Dave came home last night and said that his boss put the kabosh on the 10 hour day thing but Dave had to go in and was expecting to work only 4 hours and he would be home by 6:30 so we could go out to dinner, well his co-worker had a flat at work, got a couple guys out to help him, they stripped a lug nut, now it's 6:15 on Saturday evening and Dave can't leave his co-worker there like that, so he's going to stay until they either get the tire fixed, which is looking pretty grim, or all of the other shops close which may be 10pm. He didn't take anything to eat and he's hypoglycemic. I just hope that he'll be able to go to McDonald's and get something...
Crissy I hate to work over time unless I know in advance. I did it, but it is not too fun for me either.
Who is Shirley? Did I know her before? I pray for them though. What a stressful and scary place to be.
Funny story about the Rabbit named Betty P. lol
Shirley is Tubby's wife.
I lurk now and then, and do enjoy the smiles that Tubby brought to this room.
Will certainly be praying for Tubby, and asking my church to do the same.
Jaye
It is a bummer but he's actually supposed to work 2:30pm to 11:00pm, he went in at 2 and was going to leave at 6 and split the day with his co-worker. I feel bad because his co-worker lives 40 minutes from work, as we do also, but in the opposite direction. Him and his girl only have the one car, so the question is how is co-worker going to get home from work? I'd rather work a few hours extra than to be completely stuck at work with no way to get home. Dave's off next weekend for Halloween so it's really no big deal, other than the fact that I only see him a few hours on the weekends. Oh well.
Jaye it's great to see you here!
Almost ready to call it a day..been busy, as usual 20 projects going at once..ok perhaps not 20 but 5 or 6..
Got the wings done on the chicken, ohhh that boa wrap will do them justice, have body parts dipped in 'grungy solution' and baking in the oven..most grandma's do cookies, me I bake craft projects..lol
Dawn, how's the 2 grandaughters? any photo's you can share..you know I tried to download/print the photo of your grandaughter to play with sketching but it was too unclear..would have done her had I had a photo...or at least I'd have tried to sketch her...
Jaye, am sure Shirley and Tubby appreciate the prayers and asking the Church to do the same...wish you'd visit more often..
Crissy you and Dave do Halloween right? most of our establishments celebrate this weekend so that Halloween night being on Saturday can be spent with young ones...my niece that I work with wanted to be Lady Gaga (however you spell her name) so I helped her a bit and her costume was stunning..hope she took photo's..were you not Sonny/Cher last year???
I've all my goodies for next Saturday..seems there are less children each year..I prepare for 100 and hope for the best..
Trisha, (JUST typed an entire chapter and erased it) but I did experience some of the same when Roger and then my father were terminally ill...from time to time I chuckle at the episodes...
Best of my day..visit with Linda and showing her a craft she can do..off she went with a few irish folding Christmas cards, just called her at home to see if her knee was still paining no answer so I would imagine she's at Michael's buying supplies..also gave her a knitting machine..have to find time to go help her out, won't be for several weeks though..she said she'd try to figure it out..I'm so laughing at that!
Worse of the day..of course hearing about Tubby and worrying..my heart goes out to Shirley and her family...
What did I learn today..amazed at what different crafts I've thought of to make this costume, going to be a humdinger as Caleb would say..we keep so much knowledge within our minds and just when you need it, little bits come to the surface..sure wish it did so more often..lol
Night/night all
Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow!
Hello to all;
I am reading everyone's posts....
Hugs and Prayers for Tubby & Shirley.....
I'll touch base later....
Homecoming Dance was last night....and it seems it was this time last year that I started posting because I remember showing Betty one of the homecoming pic's we took at the house....it was the German Exchange student's first Homecoming.
Hugs to all,
Mary
Best today is that I rested after being sick last week for 2 weeks. I have been running like Betty since the lay off. I am exhausted. Worst is that I did not do work for the EDD class on my Cover Letters and thank you letters and did not finish work for this Community Emergency Response Team that I have to do by Friday. Tues and Thurs. I have a 4 hour class and I think I am visiting a relative on Wed. in LA that is visiting from PA, that I have not seen since I was about 10. This week is busy. I have a meeting at the EDD on Monday too. I am not happy about all this but anyway.
What is your best / worst?
OMG Dawn, look how much they've grown..nope not clear enough..perhaps you will take one of the upper body, clear and post it to me so once Christmas is over I can play at sketching in the office... Dawn, what is EDD..sorry you've not been well, takes a lot out of us doesn't it? Last we spoke you had family living with you and Greg..are you now empty nesters? Wow, what a week you've got planned...
Shirley/Tubby, know you've been in my thoughts and prayers...hope there is some improvement today!
Better get at it, no rest for the wicked they say..lol
No internet for the last three days and am I ever behind. Shirley, please know that whether I post or not, Norm and I always say prayers for Tubby You both are in our thoughts daily. I'm praying as I type that things will progress smoothly.
Betty, you sure do sound busy.
I'm just skimming posts right now and will get back later.. Barb
Shirley - prayers were said for Tubby & you this morning, in church..........
Take care, and God Bless you both.
~Susan~
That time of night ready for bed...just got back from dinner at Greg's..managed to bring him home with me to silicone around the tub....NOW he tells me no bath because the weight will crack it and only a shower in the am..yuk..I should really go back to his house and enjoy the hot tub, but sponge bath and to bed it will be..
Noah has the flu and looked dreadful, Kyle hacking as well, maybe I shouldn't have gone over after all..surprise/surprise (Kyle had warned me though) Noah went to have his hair streaked blond, quite a lot I might add, then Melanie dyed the streaks bright pink..omg, kids today, all for Halloween he says...had to admit, didn't look as bad as I thought it would..I must be mellowing out..
Best of the day...the President of the Quilting club dropped in this afternoon and picked up my quilt top..they are almost ready for another quilt..and, my cross-stitch quilt is it..happy about that..
Worse of the Day...Ann dropped in..Mike's arm is healing well, all the skin grafts are as they should be, not a lot of strength in his arms but the bad news is, they didn't get all the cancer..they would have had to amputate and Mike said absolutely not that route before the operation so now it will be a worry for sure...
What did I learn...next year I'll take the boys out to a costume store and don't care what they cost, I'll foot the bill.....
Shirley and Tubby, you've been in my prayers all day!
Night/night
Good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow
Starting my morning with prayers for Tubby...may today show improvement in his health!!!
My intention last night was to be in bed early...8:30 and sound asleep! Almost at the strike of midnight I was awake and ready to take on the day..tried to go back to sleep but decided if I couldn't I might as well be busy..worked till 4am on costumes and returned back to bed with only a few hours left on them..2 hrs. of sleep up and at it..don't feel the least bit tired but am sure as the day wears off I will..
I have a little over half of my 3rd. Annual Workshop kits cut, hoping to finish them by the weekend then it will be adding the decorative items to the kits and prepare for shipment...must find out what sizes the USA postal boxes are for 'fill to the brim' 1 $$$ rate boxes before I head over on the 6th to post them..need to make sure the kits fit inside...lol
Raining again today, brought lots to keep me busy..
What do you all h ave planned for today? Something exciting I hope..
Tubby and Shirley am praying for you night and day, you never leave my thoughts.
Well the indignity of it all, I posted this long post last night and it's not here, wonder if I posted on the wrong thread LOL
Anyway, good morning! My excitement to my day is work work work ooooooo exciting huh?
We do do Halloween, last year we were Hippies, this year I'm not tellin... LOL Oh Lady Gaga, I bet it did look good but that woman is out of control, I do like her though. I was going to decorate the outside of the house for Halloween but we get no kids at all and I don't want to clean up the mess, plus the countless good bugs that will get caught in the web.
Hope the kids get well soon and you don't get it! I'm so sorry about the news about Mike Betty.
Oh gonna start dieting today, yay goodie goodie not looking forward to this, I tried last night and it didn't work :(
What cute bbies Dawn! They do grow fast.
Well I've got to get to work, ya'll have a great day!
Ahhh knew it was something from that era, now why did I think Sonny/cher..lol...
Lady Gaga..OMG, I'll ask LeeAnn to send me a picture of her on Saturday night..remember I was telling you I helped her with her costume?
Off I go Crissy to ask for it..lol

Good Morning.
Tubby and Shirley, I pray this day is better.
Also I am sending you both huge but gentle Armwraps.
Betty, wow our energizer bunny is back!! LOL, I sure hope you get some kind of rest in between all those projects.
But Geesh, i am so glad to see your posting all you've done. Costumes are just out of sight!
Barb, good to see you, so sorry about the computer issues, but so glad your back up and running.
LOL, was thinking about you the other day...When Breenie was working on her Molebot, she kept asking how the heck do I work on this table??? LOLOL...the next day, she cleaned it and restacked some of my stacks. We laughed so hard.
Dawn, omg, your grand daughter is absolutley adorable.
Debbie, I hope things are getting better on your end. How was Shanes first date?
Waiving hello to you Mary, How was the Homecoming Dinner? Hope it was a very fun week for your DS.
Liz, Well geesh...Got to laugh, I was told i should blame Boo ornement on Skittles! LOLOL, I did think about it but truley it was the scarecrow...Besides Skittles has enough trama then getting her bud mad at her. (Explain later to everyone)
...ok shake your head some more. Took the binocks to Jake's last game, And guess what, Batteries died on me right at the first picture!!
Must have been playing with them too much. But geesh i was stomping all over, stupid batteries!!
I hope Yiyia is doing better, and things are calming down for you, whats the word on DH?
Linda Kay, man o man, I hate when that happens, cybercreature eating your post! I sure hope things are alright.
Crissy, great costumes! LOL still haven't decided on us yet. i am not getting any cooperation, so whatever it is will be very quick and easy.
I hope your mom is doing well too...
Waiving hello Susan! I see in another thread you've been real busy, so i am glad to see you.
OMG, Betty...LOL you almost got an irate phone call from Steve! My fault, I was telling him how sweet you were to give away your sewing machine that does all the stuff, embroidery too and he said what? why didn't you tell me, where is her phone number? I said why what would you have done, gone and gt it, he said no, but we could have paid shipping!!! Shaking my head here...
Also, wanted to say from way back days ago, Yes for sure it our turn to come see you and he knows it! LOL I wasn't ignoring that, I just forgot to reply till just now, lol.
So lets see, Oh! Bev. How are you and Scotty, I figure you must be taking advantage of the nicer weather that just past.
Was glad to see you popped in...Remember our giant bee hive, well a mighty strong wind took it down! Steve said it was smashed and appeared dried up...Sending you hugs too, I hope you have been feeling well since your surgery.
OK will send this and be back.
Got a hole weekend to tell you about.
see you in a few.
Scotty and I are doing fine. Went to church and thanked the good Lord and all the people who prayed for us and did other things, Just love all my DG buddies. Am praying for all of you every day. No Judy I haven't been able to do anything out side except between the rains. I have a lot of Pine needles to spread and a lot of leaves to rake and all kinds of things not getting done before winter but oh well. Take care all. HUGS BEV
yup Judy - busy, busy, and today I got a stern talking to...........at work...
I'm feeling so embarrassed, too.
A physician in our division is away because of eye surgery.
I emailed to a group of physicians and their assistants that I felt should know, because of scheduling issues, and told them about his surgery and other pertinant (I thought) stuff.
HR told me that I violated the privacy act...........and they'll be in touch with him to see where he wants to take this if he wants to pursue it, etc........
O gawd, I feel so awful.......
Susan
Hello, I'm back.
We have had the craziest busy weekend.
As you know went to Jakes last Game on Saturday.
Woohoo, they Won the game! 42-6 or 8, lol...Anyway the coolest thing was, Our boys had so much FUN! it was just awsomto see them laughing and cheering and just walking the side line with smiles on their face. You could tell the game was to be fun, you know no stress, it was the last game and I think that had alot to do with how they played...The weather was very cold and raining sleet, yuk.But it was well worth seeing my boy so happy.
Then right afterward, DH and I went to one of his buildings. He asked me to clean the unit to get it ready to rent again...
Thankfully, the lady who moved didn't leave a giant mess! So i will go do that tomorrow.
I've been busy working outside closing things up...LOL, gave up on raking as ya never know I did, so will let everything drop first.
Anyway, then we did shopping for the household groceries. Holy smackers, can't believe how lucky I've been...Steve, usually does all of the shopping! So, anywho..went with him 2 shopping carts and hours later..we head home, got all the stuff put away. The we decided to do some cooking, so helped with dinner and keep him company...The kids all went off to do their thing, movies, visit friends, etc...So cleaned the kitchen again and then he and i had a nice long visit! It's been weeks so we, had a great uninterrupted chat session.
Made some great goals for the near future, you know on what i am going to do. I think it was the best spent conversation we've had in ages. And of course, played with Skittles. She loves when Steve plays with her, he has big hands and fingers she can grasp on.
Also, we had the great CD search, trying to get them uploaded for his ipod, still working on that!
Sunday Morning, Worked outside and inside, did some straightening of the basement. Bar is open again! Thats where I can go to smoke in crappy weather and I am tired of going outside in rain, and cold...Got my list of to do's for down there.
Plus, worked on business for a couple of hours. Was pretty tired by night and fell asleep kind of early! Today back to the grind and start all over.
So for my excitment, working on some Christmas projects, because now I haven't touched a craft in like 4 days maybe!
OH MY GOSH...Yesterday, We all were in the Kitchen blabbing about what was going on for day. All of the sudden Skittle starts Screeching!! We could hear her wings flapping and ran in to see what was the matter. Here she got hung up in the windchime she plays with, literally hanging, OMG, I fling open the door grap her up so the thing isn't dangling her, she is biting my finger so hard, so steve grabs her and Jake, cut the string, she is loose and fly like a bat outta *&*&^. We finally get a hold of her and remove the little bit of string from her...Again, she didn't leave us. Poor baby was shaking, I was was shaking..Took us both several hours to calm down.
Needless to say no windchimes in her cage. And i all i could do was Thank God we were home and acted so quickly.
She is fine again today...And staying very quiet and isn't going to far from me again. Her favorite place to snuggle is at the back of my neck cuddle in collar.
And that was my weekend...LOL, now i am kind of glad it's over, i need the rest!
Well i hope you all have a great day.
I'm so laughing Judy at a few things you've commented on..as for my giving away my sewing machine that does everything and embroider...you got confused..did say DIL could have it after I'm gone but not before..lol..think where you got confused is I gave cousin Linda one of my knitting machines..lol she doesn't know how to knit and you need some knowledge so guess I'll be her instructor....tell Steve not to get excited..bad for the old ticker!!!
Wow, not much luck with Skittles, guess because she's a babe she gets into mischief ..accident prone for sure..best watch what is in the cage...
How wonderful for Jake to find a niche..football is great for him, keeps him out of mischief... glad to got to spend time with Steve..hard when he works such long hours and with children it's hard to have quality time...long term goal, could one be travelling to Canada?
Susan, sometimes they take things just a little too far with the privacy act..what ever happened to just chatting in the individuals best interest..crazy...don't take it so hard..mistakes happen..I telephoned once to a man's home to give him a changed appt. time..he called furious, didn't want his wife to know..think he should have had a red tag on his file saying so!
Judy, thought what I'd do is send the santa faces with your parcel on the 6th..should be enough room in the one box...sending Trisha the santa face mold as well in her box...in Crissy's I'm sending the painted cel phone case , not sure who else I owe something to, if I do let me know..
LindaKay, going to find a couple of boxes similar in size so I can see which I could use..going to pkg. everything up in a bag with labels so that when I get to USA Post Office (which only opens until noon) that it should be easy going..i.e. 20 of the same boxes with weight not having to be accounted for...even if mom isn't feeling the best I'm going to go myself..would like to attend the craft show and get everything mailed..workshop kits and swaps..guess Linda Kay, I wouldn't have to have specialty labels for the post office as they are being shipped from USA, I could just get white labels and have them all ready in the bag with each kit right? should have been smarter when I was in USA last weekend...could have gone and got 25 boxes and taken them home with me, but the trouble would have been where would I have ever put them...one more thing, do I pay for each box?
Bev, your yard look much like mine..sat outside on the new bedroom porch (warm and fuzzy feeling knowing it was made with wood and manpower from so many who care for me) and I could just imagine what the yard would look like come spring..all the new growth, new shrubs in bloom..time to dream...bet your church friends were thrilled to see you..
Betty - worst case scenario is, I lose my job. This particular physician is panicky about giving others in the company his home ph#, and he's a high maintenance fella.
Best case is, the physian in question says "Susan wouldn't hurt a fly, so I'm ok with it".
It all depends how he's feeling at the moment.
He and I get along well, but he's had his identity stolen 2x, and I don't know which way he'll "swing" on this.
I've been to a Privacy Act course here, and I really should have known better.....
They'll be phoning him, and I hope he'll say it's a "one-off" and HR just gives me a lecture. I'll tell you though...... I'm feeling flushed right now, and really contrite.....
This is really a huge matter. I'm hoping all my history with the company will stand me in good stead, and that the physician likes me well enough to let this go.
Susan
Tubby and Shirley are constantly in out thoughts and prayers......
Heavy rain most of the night, gray, dreary and rain today and for the next week from the looks of it. Was only in the 40's last night, highs will only be in the low fifties. Looks like Fall is here and Winter is rapidly approaching. Should be getting snow in the passes tonight.
Bill is working on a talk he has to give tonight, and a lot verbage for the shop website so I have a feeling there is good bit of typing in my future....grrr.
Betty, the boxes are free, and they have labels at the post office too, but plain whitle labels work just fine!
Sounds like you have it all planned out.
Susan, will say a prayer for you, surely not in this economy would a Dr. let someone go for such an error..a reminder of the rules should be enough...when will you know?
Trisha, when you say snow in the passes, is that fairly close to your home? can't believe you'd get snow before I do..do you enjoy typing..I have excellent typing skills, something I most enjoy..now tell me, think I asked this before..when you are thinking when you are quiet, do you feel yourself mentally typing it? am I odd or what..
LindaKay, my thoughts are to have each packaged to fit inside the box..if I stood at the counter it would take forever to label correctly, besides want to spent my extra time at the craft show and shopping at the Christmas Tree store....speaking of Christmas Tree store, just got their flyer, tempting me already..they've cute country drapes, cute Christmas items etc. - glad mom has a van...lol
When I spoke to the HR Manager, and the Occupational Health & Wellness Manager, they were both going into unrelated meetings. Afterwards (don't know when) the OHW manager will be calling the physician at home. For all I know, they'll let me stew for a bit, or will tell me right away. The only thing I know is that the Dr is available to talk to them, because he's bedridden.
We're a Research Facility, and administrative offices, and everyone's in meetings all the time. Although this is a huge deal, it may be that they don't have time to deal with it... I just don't know.
All I can say is that I'll know when I know. Hopefully today/tomorrow.
Susan
Betty - did you get a pkg today?
The name of the receiver is different than yours.........
Susan
I heard from HR, and they asked if his daughter (who came by on Friday with his Dr's letter) volunteered the information, and if she mentioned that this was confidential.
I replied that she never said it was confidential, and that she told me all I passed on, and more.
I forgot to mention that she told me in the hallway, near the elevator.....
Anyway, HR mgr said that, as it was volunteered and nothing said about confidentiality, she wasn't going to pursue it further. Also that, in the future, if I was unsure about passing info on, I should speak to her, or her team. For medical leaves, etc, I should get in touch with the OHW mgr.
I am so relieved......... you have NO idea.................
I'm one of those people that only need to be told once.
Susan
The waiting is enough of a hand slap if you ask me...
No one is at home during the day, however, see that Cathy who drops in from time to time to let Sailor and the kitties out must have been there..you have Cathy's name as the recipient...
Thanks, let's hope I won't kill it before the week is out...
